West 'am result doesn't really affect us does it?If you're bored revive the best chippie thread. Have to say A salt and Battery in NYC is pretty good though the prices are shocking. I can say the best sausage roll I've ever had is right here in NYC at Meyer's of Keswick, made fresh daily with their homemade sausage meat. Their pork pies are right up there with some of the best too! I was at Wembley. The five hour drive back on the coach was the icing on the cake or , to quote Melchett in blackadder , the crowning turd in the water pipe. I remember the driver apologising that he'd have to stop at woolley edge services because he'd gone past the time he was allowed to drive for without taking a break. Still can't believe Savo Milosevic scored a 25 yarder against us. Re: [LU] 1950???
My first memories of Leeds are twofold. I can recall the very first live game I attended at Elland road. It will have been in the early 1960's and was against Blackpool as I can still see the vivid orange shirts in my mind to this day. The first time I realised that I was Leeds and it would always be so was watching the 1965 FA cup final on the black and white TV at home - When Bremner scored I can tell you was literally bouncing up and down on the old sofa in excitement. I don't think I have ever again achieved such pure ecstasy at a game of football since. Ahh the innocence of youth (I was 10) Oh, and I was on the Lowfields road with my dad on the night we played Sunderland and the barrier broke (52,000 crowd) - I ended up almost 60 yards away from my dad and was passed back over the heads of the crowd. I think I joined in 92, it was in the early days of the list anyway. I see all tonights results went in our favour again, we need Donny to do us a favour at Brum on Friday now. I can't believe how often this is happening, none of the teams from 4th to 12th appear good enough to put a run together. Are we capable? I thought we were until I watched the Hammers game, where I thought we were dreadful. All we did was pump it long to Bechio, let them have the second ball then try to harry them in to mistakes. Socking tactics. Then the Forest game, oh dear! I was back to thinking we had no chance again then along came tonights results. Unbelievably we are still only 3 points off the play-offs, though if Brum win on Friday we will be back to 5, all teams having played the same amount of games. It wont last though - we need to get better soon. Matt From: Simon Hart simon.h...@york.ac.uk I think I joined in 92, it was in the early days of the list anyway. At least we're still in with a shout, just. ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org PETE CASS (1962 - 2011) Rest In Peace Mate

Re: [LU] list down?
Been here only 4 years after a punter in Muscat recommended the list. to be fair and i may speak for a few, us overseas lurkers make the odd comment but tbh we are mostly ignored cos we aint in the 'in' crowd plus the spats between rich, rich, dave, mike etc have left us all feeling rather out of it. I for one appreciate greatly the match reports and the actual Leeds info.. the personal bollocks doesn't matter but I am hanging on here cos I think the list has a lot to offer. TBH the Leeds stuff in city doesnt affect me.. 20 years out of UK this month but it is nice to reminisce. Thanks John and the old crowd for keeping it going.. Leeds 'fan' since 1971.. since I moved to Liverpool from Scotland.. suffering still but I am proud to stick with my team... Cheers to the list long may it continue... Re: [LU] list down?
Yes a good match to remember - hot sunshine, featured match on World Service (R5L didn't yet exist), drifting in and out of the siesta on the back seat of the car as the commentary came and went (I think it was flashes through the match then the last 20 mins), looking forward to eating the freshwater crayfish that my friends were catching whilst I was listening.. But the best armchair experience has to be the Elland Rd leg of the Stuttgart match which just about pips Arsenal 71. For the worst I think it has to be Sunderland which narrowly beats the Chelsea replay and Bayern. If the last match of the 82 season had been an armchair option that would have been up there too. Alright so Villa at Wembley was a lowpoint, what has been everybody's armchair highpoint? For me the sound of 3-0, to the weakest link as I listened to the Deportivo game via some cruddy web radio feed was a real highlight. Not allowed to count games you actually went to, has to be a real armchair experience. [LU] Still three points
The race for PO's is wide open. Can we do it? Is it worthwhile? I'm pleased that Colin's talking with the key players to tie them down. But why the change? 1. SG didn't want to do it that way. God knows why. 2. MS has 'buckled'. 3. SG knew and Colin has yet to learn, that there is no point in starting negotiations as they will end without fruition because of MS. I fear the third alternative is correct and hope for the second alternative. But naivety is my strong point. I can't count any of them as armchair experiences as I went to all of them. Frankly, for me, all armchair matches are in the worst experience class as they simply have no passion compared to being there, but sadly this is not something I can do much about these days.. :-( Steve ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org PETE CASS (1962 - 2011) Rest In Peace Mate
