Re: [LU] so

2012-11-24 Thread Eric B
I am not saying he is ace. hes been with us 4 years now, his goal average
per game in league games is 0.38, Torres is 0.42 and Rooney is 0.44. i know
stats can be misleading: hes playing at an inferior level than Torres and
Rooney, got less games etc. however 0.38 is decent over 4 years, all in
all. for what level hes at and probably for what hes being paid hes doing a
good job for job. it might not be nice to watch but hey.. I take that over
a skillfull player doing nice things but not scoring.
the day we get promotion hes likely to not be good enough. For now he
brings something to the table, 0.38.

Ross Mc. has got an overall stat of 0.28 per league game accumulated for
all the teams hes played for. However for LUFC games only I reckon hes
ahead of 0.38. 21 goals in 53. just, 0.396. So if we agree Ross Mc. is a
better player than luciano
can we agree Luc. is a more efficient goal scorer given that hes less
skilled?

As you can see from the stats every goal counts, hes not a ballerina so he
wont get points for style, hair, distance etc.

This time your match report was pleasing to read as you managed to distance
yourself from being too negative to that one player. keep it up rich!

Cheers,
Eric

And like Rich said we looked really good for 16 minutes! That was 16 minutes
more then I have seen for a while.

Anyone seen Bates's LUTV interview? Cnut has a huge photo of himself behind his
head. What a f8cking arsehole.

Sorry. It upset me.

Just read that - what a load of shite about Zaha been too strong for Byram, yes
he gave him a hard time in the first half but overall Byram won the battle.

[LU] Match Report from FootyMad

Leeds 2-1 Crystal Palace- Match Report
Report of match Leeds United v Crystal Palace from 24th November 2012
Reporter PA

Leeds manager Neil Warnock delivered on his promise that the season started
here as his side kicked off their new era by ending Crystal Palace's 14-game
unbeaten run with a 2-1 win.

After six months of negotiations, United were this week bought by GFH
Capital, and Warnock, having said anyone could have done his job for the
first four cash-strapped months of the season, claimed this was the first
day of his pursuit of a record-setting eighth promotion.

And, although the goals scored by Luciano Becchio and Paul Green do not mask
the fact Leeds had gone seven without a win prior to this game, leaving them
far from Premier League material, this was as good a start as they and GFH
could have wished for.

Equally, a first defeat since their Capital One Cup defeat to Preston on
August 28 does not spell disaster for Palace, although Cardiff's win at
Barnsley means top spot is no longer theirs.

Manager Ian Holloway, for whom this was a first loss since his switch from
Blackpool, will point to two contentious penalty decisions which went
against England winger Wilfried Zaha but, short of Peter Ramage's late goal,
his men were undone by a side revelling in front of playing in front of
their new owners.

GFH have promised investment in January but it was one of the players they
brought in on loan, Jerome Thomas, who took the fight to Palace early on,
skinning Joel Ward and firing in a cross which nearly led to danger.

Leeds fed off Thomas' energy and soon Becchio was denied by Julian Speroni
in the Palace goal, before the Argentinian stopper, a summer target of
Warnock, did brilliantly to get down low and keep out David Norris after a
bursting run from the midfielder.

After failing to land Speroni, Warnock tied up a deal for another of his old
foot soldiers, Paddy Kenny, and he was then called into action at the other
end, getting the slightest touch to an across-goal drive from Zaha, who
outmuscled Sam Byram to get a shot in.

He then got to work behind a routine drive from Owen Garvan, before a
brilliant double save kept his side level. First he flung himself to his
left to palm away Jonathan Parr's curler, leaving the goal open in the
process. He was up quickly, though, shutting down Glenn Murray who looked a
safe bet to grab his 16th of the season from six yards.

Zaha was Palace's most dangerous player - far too strong for opposite number
Byram - and the two were involved in a flashpoint on the stroke of
half-time, with the former not getting the penalty he courted after
appearing to be tripped. Fortunately for him, he received no caution for his
subsequent shoving of Norris.

There was no doubt Palace had ended the first half the better but seven
minutes into the second half, they were behind, owing largely to Ramage's
failure to clear his lines. After Lee Peltier's cross was nodded across goal
by Green, the experienced defender headed it against his own man, Mile
Jedinak, allowing Becchio to pounce from two yards.

Palace's attempts at a response inevitably went through Zaha who again
thought he had claims on a penalty when he and Byram became entangled for a
second time, although the best chances fell in Leeds' favour, with Norris
drilling over after a Byram cross fell kindly for him.

A second Leeds goal would arrive, though, with Green's 75th-minute sweet
back-post volley - after Alan Tate's punt forward fell to him - deflecting
beyond Speroni's reach.

Thinking the game was done, Warnock sent on Ross McCormack for a first home
appearance in almost three months following injury, but Leeds were given a
reality check with five minutes left when Ramage dived to head in Kagisho
Dikgacoi's cross.

With five minutes of time added Palace had a chance to get a second, but the
closest they came was Michael Tonge booting off his own line following a
scramble, and Leeds held on.

[LU] Is this a subtle hint?

2012-11-24 Thread Jeremy Adams

Warnock quote on teamtalk.com"It has been a frustrating time, but this season
can't be written off. We have to hang in there and give it our best shot. As I
said on Thursday, we have to move forwards."
Does this mean Becchio is on his way out in January??? Coat on, sadly not going
to the game.

Just about to set off. Feeling strangely optimistic, not sure why? Becchio up
front and President Ken in the stands. H.

Still, 2 new signings , the chance of a bit of pace up front if he plays Hall
and Thomas.

Becchio looking for 1st goal in open play since Forest on Sep 22nd, and people
still think he's vital to our team. Not heard the Berbetov chant for a while
though. Hopefully we'll get a pen today .

[LU] Good old TO

2012-11-24 Thread Nigel Sykes
If they want fans to flood back to Elland Road then I suggest that one of the
new regime's first jobs should be to sort out ticketing...

Having decided to grace the place with my presence for the Ipswich game, last
night I tried to buy some tickets. First time I've endured this farce for many
a year, as a mate who lives close to ER has always got them in recent years.

After more than 30 minutes, selecting seats twice and apparently paying three
times(!) I gave up. After the last attempt, it finished by telling me that the
tickets I had selected (which it had suggested in the first place) were only
available to ST holders. FFS...

Apart from making me all nostalgic because it reminded me of trying to buy
tickets 20 years ago, this didn't do much for my humour.

In the cold new dawn, I've decided I'm prepared to give it one more go before
opting to go Christmas shopping with the missus instead. Any tips on how to
beat the stupid "you need to know where you can buy seats before we'll sell you
them" system?
