2013-07-01 Thread Ian Murray
Really? So how should football be played.

Yeah Barca and Spain don't have a 'plan B' but their 'plan A' is football
played well and is great to watch imho. Beats the long ball
play-it-up-to-the-big-man crap we have been dishing out for so long.

Re: [LU] NON LU: Spain Brazil

2013-07-01 Thread Eric B
unworthy? for real? Its not really THAT easy to win mate, I thought you d
know by now. I d be more inclined to agree if you said Greece and Italy but
not spain.

I too dislike Spains style of playing and was very happy to see them loose.
The thing is that Brazil are known for the same style of football, pass the
bass around for a bit and then explode into something. Does it have to do
with playing under sun/heat? Heat tends to slow things around right? So no
wonder theres a culture for that style of playing in warm countries if my
theory is somewhat correct.

Having said that, Spain took that style of play to the extreme. its boring
to watch and Im ready for someone else, just not fuxxxing italy.

On a different note: Torres made a dumb comment. There is not 1 way of
playing football, there is not one way of making music etc.

[LU] more sponsorship too

2013-07-01 Thread nat...@sky.com
Not sure if is connected in any way to us paying £1m for a player for the first
time in 8 years but we have also announced that SkyBet are sponsoring one of
the stands

They claim that now for the first time ever ALL 4 stands have separate
sponsorship deals

Fair play to GFH - money in via sponsorship and money spent on a player - good
business

I see McDermott is claiming that Murphy is one of our 'key signings' - as
opposed to Smith who is just a squad addition

With Dawson being included in the first team, 23yr old Murphy , and the return
of Zac Thompson (though personally not sure about him) we may have a young and
vibrant midfield next season - a long way from Brown, Green and Norris - even
though I am sure Green will have a big part to play

Re: [LU] Luke Murphy

2013-07-01 Thread Brendan Osborne
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12691/8800644/Transfer-news-Sky-Sports-understands-Luke-Murphy-agrees-Leeds-move
Sky Sports understands that Crewe Alexandra midfielder Luke Murphy has agreed a
move to Leeds United and will pen a three-year contract. It emerged earlier on
Monday that the 23-year-old was at Elland Road to undergo a medical. With an
agreement having been reached with Crewe, he is now clear to step up into the
Championship.Murphy is a product of Crewe's famed academy system and made his
senior debut for the Railwaymen while still in his teens. He has gone on to
become a first team regular, making close to 200 appearances over the last five
seasons.Murphy did not look out of place at League One level last season and
will be looking to hit the ground running in the second tier with Leeds. It is
understood that Crewe will collect a fee of £1million as part of the deal.

It may be getting off to a good start if the rumours (in YEP etc) that we are
likely to sign Luke Murphy from Crewe for £1m - yes ONE MILLION ENGLISH POUNDS-
despite other teams being interested !!

FIrst £1m signing for 8years or something (web forum chat suggests different

[LU] Boardroom Changes at E Rd

2013-07-01 Thread Rick Duniec

Sweeping boardroom changes at Elland Road
By Laurence Kilgannon, Yorkshire Correspondent
GFH Capital has announced major changes in Leeds United's boardroom
structure and the departure of longstanding chief executive Shaun Harvey.
The Championship club has appointed Salah Nooruddin as chairman and David
Haigh, deputy chief executive of GFH Capital, as managing director.
Harvey, who has been chief executive since 2004, steps down from the role.
Haigh will become responsible for the day-to-day running of the club.
Salah Nooruddin, who moves up from his previous role as vice chairman, said:
"We are pleased to welcome David Haigh to his new role. He and I will
continue to work with the rest of the board, the management team, Brian
McDermott and his team to build the foundations on and off the pitch for a
successful future for Leeds United.
"At the same time we extend our thanks to Shaun for his services to the club
over the past nine years, Shaun will remain as a director of the club to
offer us his considerable footballing experience. He has always given strong
leadership to the football club in what have been often been challenging
times."
David Haigh added: "I look forward to my new role and continuing to work
with everyone at the club to help create, with the support of the owners,
the long term and sustainable success which Leeds United's great past
merits.
"We are at a time in the development of the club when we have to balance
immediate ambition against our long term strategy for success. We have an
excellent manager in Brian McDermott and I am confident that by working as a
team we can achieve our aims."
