Re: [LU] Guiseley

2019-07-12 Thread Jeremy Adams
Yes the first half and the beginning of the second half we moved the ball
around but to no effect whatsoever, just back and forth and their defence just
sat their happily and watched.
Costa does look like he will offer something creatively going forward. White
does look good going forward and Davis seemed solid to me.
Phillips looked like a player distracted by contract negotiations, whether
those negotiations are with Leeds, Villa, Newcastle, or Spurs etc. etc. I have
no idea but his mind didn't really seem on the game.
Harrison was the standout in the first game for me.
Apparently a few fans at Guiseley giving Bamford a hard time which seems
stupid. Give the lad a fresh start FFS and see if he can get going before you
start slagging him off.

My guess is we're either going to walk this league or we are going to fall
apart early doors and Bielsa will walk by Christmas. Can't see this being a
mediocre season!

Agree first half was dreadful - very odd line up with no centre forward - why
no Edmondson ?- also I read that Ayling had a knock but unless I am wrong Tyler
Roberts does not appear to have played in either gameThe lack of a striker
really showed as we failed, despite a lot of possession, to have a shot first
half , it was all pass, pass , pass as they moved it from one to another on the
edge of the box.
It was a pre season friendly so miles too soon to draw any conclusions at all -
having said that Harrison is getting rave reviews over his performance at York
- scoring 2 and being heavily involved in 2 more (I have only seem the goals)On
very early showing Costa did nothing first half but improved a lot after the
break, a couple of quality bits of play including his goal and his part in our
winner, a lovely finish by Bogusz.
White looked great with the ball at his feet but did not over impress
defensively
Miazek - our keeper for the second half looked great at crosses / high balls
and seems to be ahead of Huffer now in the goal keeping hierarchy

Klich was very busy and involved a lot (offside 3 times) Alioski got a tough
time being kicked all over the place (did score a nice header but was
disallowed)
As we always say it is miles too early to draw any real conclusions, these
games are all about getting match fit and match sharp but you do get a glimpse
of what a player is like - Costa quick and tricky, White loving carrying the
ball forward

Good goal from Costa so I'll take that early pre-season comment back :)
It's been pretty disappointing from Leeds so far especially the defence.

Poor at the moment against Guiseley. Anyone who thinks Philips is worth £10
million and can play at a higher level is having a laugh. Look at their goal.
Philips left for dead. He's pedestrian beyond belief and wouldn't last 5 mins
in the PL.
Costa looks shit. Jack Clarke too. Need to improve.

[LU] Article on Pontus

2019-07-12 Thread Mark Pilling
Thought this was an interesting piece summarising what Pontus brought to
Leeds and why it has ended in tears.
