One tangible result of Cellino's stewardship which I never thought anyone
could achieve...he seems to have revived this moribund
email forum!

Accept I'm in the minority here but I think Cellino spoke a lot of sense in
that interview (even if he was half pissed)
Steve Evans has spent the last 2 weeks basically pleading through the media for
his job next season and I totally agree with Cellino that he should shut up and
concentrate on the team and why he continues to lose us games through playing
Wooton at right back. So I think it was a great decision to stop Evans from
talking to the media following the defeat and to be honest it worked because
the last thing us fans wanted to hear was Evans's excuses. It was a bad night
we have to move on to Bolton to get a result.
Also, I accept his reasons for leaving at half time. He was embarrassed, I
would have also considered leaving at half-time. I know people who have met
Cellino and he really is a supporter of this club. You can choose to believe

As I said I'm in the minority , probably of one on this list but what is the
alternative ?
I think he's not out to screw the club , he is a supporter of the club, and
it's his own money. We haven't ever had an owner like that. Plenty of owners
looking out for themselves and making sure they take their pay from the club.
Ok he's a bit mad, but compared to GFH and co I'll take him any day.
Let's see what happens in the Summer ? If the fans haven't turfed him out by
then.

Maybe we will never know the full story behind Bates, gfh, and all the ground

I think you're right. The finances are so murky - rumours of debts to gfh etc
mean that you would be very foolish to rush in and buy (like Cellino did!)

2016-03-02 Thread bruvvaleeluv
My gut feel is that the fans group consortium didn't have enough cash, hence
the ongoing search for more backers at the time. I have absolutely no idea how
much money Cellino has got either, but given he's deferred any decision to sell
and even if he is persuaded to sell, I'm of the view any fans bid would be so
suspicious of every hidden debt that they couldn't pull it off. I certainly
wouldn't put a penny into it, because it is a bottomless pit of debt and I
wonder if complete bankruptcy is the only thing that will enable the slate to
be wiped clean?

I guess I don't know either but I would've liked to see them try. I don't think
Cellino is capable of building anything but instability and discord.
I hear his latest court case in Italy has been adjourned until May.

I'm still not convinced. I watch the games now and I honestly cannot see where
a goal is going to come from. Possession is often high but the majority of it
is the back four and silvestri passing it to each other.
Can't say I'm looking forward to the game on Saturday!

I think it was probably me Simon who said that by passing the ball to each
other, for example, the football was better. Certainly better than Hockaday and
Rosler era. Even against Brighton, which was a shambles, we had 52% possession
- we had quite a few chances, albeit naff all on target, etc. Compared with the
Hockaday period you have to say it's better now, even though we are mainly
toothless, are rubbish in defence, and seem to have no passion most of the time
- under Hockaday we simply couldn't pass, no matter how many shifts they put
in!

I disagree. You're the one who would take Cellino because there's no
alternative - that is a joke. There is an alternative , the fans group had the
funds. Fan ownership has worked all over the world - Swansea seem to have done
ok with it.

What?? I'd say his intentions are pretty relevant - does he want glory, as I
hope he does, or is he looking for paydirt? Of course, if glory comes then
selling will be much more profitable.

you could argue that this season has created stability - mid table and clear
from the bottom 3, clubs financial position is stable and we're refusing to
bring in any loanees that can't be converted into permanent signings (remember
Townsend, Wickham, Barkley who were all good players who didn't make an impact
because ultimately they couldn't give a toss).

Yes I think the appointment of Pearson showed us that he realises he needs help
however more worryingly I wonder if Pearson went because he couldn't work with
Cellino ? and maybe this may be the main issue with him and if that is true
then I do accept that he will struggle to run the club.

Agreed! That's why i was  happy when Pearson came back. If he could be

But he is mad irrational acts without thinking and most worrying lot of all due

And creating and scoring goals? We don't do that either. To talk that our
defence is the Achilles heel is completely wrong. We are a a very poor
team, badly coached in an ailing club disastrously, in financial ruin
without a ground or training ground. That's today's Leeds United.

2016-03-02 Thread - -
Not sure the defence is the main problem:

We've let in 39 in 33 games; Sheff Wed in 6th have let in 35; Brighton
   in 4th, 34

However, we have scored 30; SW have scored 50 and Brighton 49

30 is the joint second lowest (= with Charlton, currently bottom); MK
Dons 21st in the league have the worst scoring record with 28.

You don't win many games with a ratio of less than 1 goal per game
   scored.

Not sure the facts agree with your assertion about the defence. We had a
wobbly 15 mins v B/ton, but prior to that we had conceded 10 goals in the
preceding 11 games (not sure when Rosler was sacked, but if you cf the 11
games in Sep & Oct we let in 16.) Maybe the big problem was the absence of
the much-maligned Bellusci (who Evans has reinstated)?

And I don't pay any attention to this classic internet-age gripe about
"playing people out of position"..if you're any good at
football, you can play anywhere on the pitch.

2016-03-02 Thread Dr Michael Benjamin
We are not playing better. We are playing badly a different way. The bottom
line is results and that has not changed,. Most of it is underperforming
players due to a caricature of what a team and club should look like.
Cellino has no money and believes he is an asset instead. He isn't.
Owners don't run clubs they bring in pros. This self possessed lunatic
thinks he is a football man. He isn't. He is the epitome of a little
learning is a dangerous thing plus a fool and his money are soon parted..,
plus there is nothing more dangerous than an enthusiastic moron.

I can believe he was embarrassed that's for sure - I couldn't watch the second
half either! Agree that Evans needs to take advice around playing that f*ckwit
Wootton too. I can also believe Cellino wants us to do well, for both glory and
financial reasons. However, whilst we're stuck with him, as well as putting his
hand in his pocket (maybe) he is an embarrassment that can match the team at
the drop of a hat. Any future looks compromised, at best, with him around, but
it is as it is.

I can't even make my mind up about the fat knacker - there' no doubt we're
playing better football than under Rosler, Hockaday etc, but with little
creativity, and a centre so soft that we cave in catastrophically like at
Brighton. There are some very basic defensive issues not being addressed, and I
don't know if it's because the defenders we've got are
shit/stupid/lazy/uncommitted, or if the manager simply cannot motivate
them/organise them, or is it elements of all the above? And what is the
obsession with playing players out of position - Cook, Byron, Coyle, Wootton,
Mowatt?

It's all a massive f*ck-up that's for sure!

I prefer Bacchio at the club over that raving lunatic.
How you can find anything good to say about him is beyond me

You can choose to believe
that or not.
I also liked his statement that fans are better than the team. Obvious but
completely true !

Cellino IN for me.
