I hate those YouTube videos of new signings . Do you remember the Ian Westlake
'Born to score' video. How many goals did he got for us in nearly 50
appearances - f'cking one

You could certainly make a good Paynter video as well including the hat-trick
he scored against us last season.

Re: [LU] Paynter straight red...

2011-03-20 Thread Richard Walker
Yes I'm with you on that one - it is a dilemma for Grayson but I think with
Bannan and Kilkenny we have the means to outpass and outplay teams like Sheff
Utd. I think the temptation in this league is to think that the only way to get
out is to put some cloggers in who can fight their way out of the division. I
think this is not true. There's only one reason why QPR are top of the league
because they play football and have individuals who find time on the ball and
are comfortable passing it around and moving for each other. Bradley Johnson
will never fit into that type of side , neither will Becchio which is why I
think we need to start looking beyond them. Somma is a fine example of a player
who just seems to have too much ability for Grayson - he doesn't fit into
Grayson's plan at all except to stick him on with 10 minutes to go and expect
him to get a hat-trick which is totally unreasonable. It's so obvious to see
that the only real tactical change he's got up his sleeve is to take Becchio
off
and put Paynter on - why would you do that ? Paynter with 1 goal to his name in
front of Somma with double figures and international appearances and goals to
his. It's because Somma doesn't use his elbows in tackles, he doesn't fall over
and get free-kicks, he doesn't charge down the ball and use of valuable energy.
What he does is make intelligent runs behind their defence which can be
exploited by the likes of Bannan and Kilkenny.

I think Grayson now needs a plan B which will eventually become is Plan A, if
not this season certainly next if we're looking to progress. 4-5-1 has served
us
ok b ut it's limited especially with Johnson and Becchio at the helm.

I'm a fan of Grayson, we've done really well this year with some players that
are playing beyond their level but he's in danger of  becoming one dimensional.

Not too sure - I think we'd be a bit lightweight in midfield then.  I'm not
Johnson's greatest fan but he does get stuck in.  Maybe we should have gone for
a more defensive hard-man midfielder instead of a play-maker.  Although
thinking about it, Bannan did get some good challenges in.  I don't know - I'm
more indesicive than Grayson!

 his passing was class.

 2) Paynter gets involved in a lot of shit off the ball ( I noticed this
 against Ipswich)

Why does he get called upon before Somma?  At best he's a League One player
who's scored one for us whereas Somma is a proven goalscorer at this level.
 Come on Simon!!

 3) Becchio's 'performance' today was bad even for him. He's finished forthe
season and we need to be looking at something different (Somma and
 McCormack)

Becchio was rubbish today - altho he got very little service.  I agree Rich
 - play Somma and McCormack

 4) we've played in some shit games at Bramall lane - it's a shithole.

They gave us a rendition of Where were you at Istanbul. Cnuts.  We also
noticed two giving us the throat slitting gesture.

 5) Apparently Grayson changed tactics today and went 4-4-2 with Howson on
the right and Gradel and the leg iron up front. Come on Simon !??

I thought Gradel was one of our better options today although he wasted a
 couple of chances.

 6) looking forward to the play offs (hopefully)

The BBC stats said we had one attempt on target, I don't even remember that
one!  We were pretty dire, Snoddy was a yard off pace, Howson didn't know
where to play and was anonomous (even tho I think he's been our best player
this season), O'Brein - 3 year contract? Oh dear.  As for McCartney - one of
the worst performances by a Leeds player this season - it looked like he'd
had a hard days night and definitely needed help.  (see what I did there?
 ;-))

Schmeichal kept the score down to two, Sheffield deserved the win, they gave
us no space, closed us down and wanted it more than us.

Only plus point was I parked my car 50yds from our turnstile entrance, for
 free!

I'll stick by Grayson no matter what.  We're having a great season but he
doesn't seem to know what to do when things aren't working out.  Hope he
learns from today and gives them a rocket!  Forest game is looking tasty
 now.
