Bill at the hospital. when we get bugs. We can not use poisons. so the way we
kill them is with HEAT.

bugs can not live in a hot environment . They heat a room to 165 deg. F. at the
lowest places in the room for one hour. the heat will kill all bugs and
spiders. Perhaps with your heat wave you should try heating up your shop with a
heater to get ride of those bugs!

 Hello Everyone.
Another 2 day work shift for me. Dan I know with pulley's the size will effect
the rotation. Im not so sure its the same with gears?  I do know that Iam
planning to work with a machine that behaves very much like a spirograph. But
first things first, the oval before a pretty patterns. ;-)But Please if you
think you can make something like what you are thinking aboutPlease do so.  the
concept is entreating to me.As a side Note: I find it funny that Men back in
the 1700's and 1800's could make machines that today most people can not
phantom how they did what they did?
Just a few more days and I will have to time to "Play" Again .  ;-)
Have a good night.

the planet gear has a fixed pin on it. so as it moves the arm moves the table.
thus making an

oval as the table turns. I am using my Legacy/overhead router for the cutting.
(at this time.)

I Hope the photo's help explain what is happening here?

photo 1 shows the "Sun" gear lifted up, a post, is running through the ball
bearing center. (its pined under the table, to keep it form moving .)

photo 2 shows the linkage. (as the table moves the planate gear rotates moving
the pin, making the table move back and forth as the planate turns around the
sun gear.)

Photo3  shows the planate gear/pin and table with linear rails.

Photo's 4&5 show the over all set-up on my Legacy (Ornamental Mill.)

brown snakes and its usually mostly tourists most Aussies know to be carful

and don’t stir up the nasties in Australia lol

But Tim,

Bill (in Australia) has that "Red Back Spider". In Minnie-Soda ya'll have the
"Red-neck Spider".

Haven't heard much about it biting - so much as I have heard about it drinking
a lot of beer!

LoL!

Here is the hole message. (second try!)

Hello Everyone.

It's -5 outside today. (Thanks Tim, for sending Bill some cold air, it hit my
area in its way to Auz. ) ;-p

Since my shop is un-heated, (I use a propane heater to heat the shop when I'm
working, But today

its just to cold to go out there and try to heat the shop.)

This is a reply that I gave to a private e-mail Explaining what I was doing/
how this jig works.

I think everyone will enjoy this info.

The Planetary gear system is the concept that I am using to make this jig work.

What I'm curious about by mentioning different number of teeth on
planetary and sun gears is the modularity of the rotations. If they have
the same number, after one rotation the second rotation will travel
the same path. If the number of teeth are different by as little as one,

Hello Everyone.

Since my shop is un-heated, (I use a propane heater to heat the shop when I'm

The Planet gear is fixed to the table. so it moves around the sun gear when the
table turns.

the planet gear has a fixed pin on it. so as it moves the arm moves the table.
thus making an

oval as the table turns.

RE: Oval jig testing

2024-01-15 Thread bulkeley
I understand curt I have the same problem but in reverse its too hot to work
out in the shop by day and by night insects drive you insane not to mention

In the summer I have to check the shop for poisonous snakes before I start they
get a little upset if I run over one lol, after all our brown snakes venom is
the second most toxic in the world not good if you get bit.

The "Sun" Gear is pinned to the tables supports, (It dose not move with the
table.)

The Planet gear is fixed to the table. so it moves around the sun gear when the
table turns.

the planet gear has a fixed pin on it. so as it moves the arm moves the table.
thus making an

oval as the table turns.

The Planet gear is fixed to the table. so it moves around the sun gear when the

the planet gear has a fixed pin on it. so as it moves the arm moves the table.
thus making an

I Hope the photo's help explain what is happening here?

Re: Oval jig testing

2024-01-15 Thread 'Curt George' via Legacy Ornamental Mills
Hello DanIf I remember correctly the number of teeth do not matter if the
gears are in a series. but if the teeth were set in a duplex set (also called a
stacked or compound gear). you can reduce or increase the rotation speed,   I
think one or both of these video will help explain?
Understanding Gears: Speed Vs. Torque.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUfZnZ_0Cb8
Compound gears explainedhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmUq2TQ8m2M

But on the other side of this, If you used a larger gear and had a pin on that
gear the pin would move farther from the gear train as it spins away, and
closer on the re-bound.

The Planetary gear system is the concept that I am using to make this jig work.

The "Sun" Gear is pinned to the tables supports, (It dose not move with the
table.)The Planet gear is fixed to the table. so it moves around the sun gear
when the table turns.the planet gear has a fixed pin on it. so as it moves the
arm moves the table. thus making an oval as the table turns. I am using my
Legacy/overhead router for the cutting. (at this time.)
I Hope the photo's help explain what is happening here?photo 1 shows the sun
gear lifted up running through the ball bearing center. (its pinning under the
table.)photo 2 shows the linkage.Photo3  shows the planate gear/pin and table
with linear rails.Photo's 4&5 show the over all set-up on my Legacy (Ornamental
Mill.)

At this time there is a 2" off-set. The table is disposable, there are only 4
screw holding it down onto the slides.I am using linear slides for the table.
(in two photo's I used drawer slide they worked but they got in the way of my
Legacy side rails. so I replaced them.)
If all goes well, I will be making an oval picture frame, and latter some small

This is all real cool, Curt. Now my curiosity is aroused again, has it
been
considered what happens if the planetary gear doesn't have the same
number of teeth as the sun gear?
