Re: [LegacyUG] Upgrade to version 9

Laurence,

Check the bottom of your email receipt. My receipt shows a URL, password, and
a notice of ‘unlimited access’. I just checked that URL and see the download
information for BOTH Legacy 9 and the pdf of the user guide.

Re: [LegacyUG] Two Questions?

2017-04-30 Thread CE WOOD
It has nothing to do with Legacy; it is a Windows restriction.Windows' promised
fix to that does not work.

The maximum length for a path (file name and its directory route) — also known
as MAX_PATH — has been defined by 260 characters.

That includes all the keystrokes to get to your destination file. For instance:

D:\Pictures\Genes Images\Churches\Santa Clara a Velha Mosteiro.jpg

D:\Pictures\My Relatives\George's\Margaret\Gregory\Samuel\1997-2007

Spaces take more keystrokes than dashes or undescores.

I have just updated to Legacy 9. I have 16 media files which need to
be relinked. I know which file they are in. How do I tell the
Re-linker what file to look in? It does not seem to allow for that
situation. I have printed out the missing files and know who they
are associated with, but there must be some easy way to tell the
relinker what file on my computer to look in. I have "gathered"
files several times and the relinker is missing the file which is a
 Family Tree Maker file.

There's an option in Legacy Charting in version 9 to change Date formats.
See Help and Options - Chart Options - Date Format tab.

This is not in Legacy 8 charting.

If you've only recently purchased Legacy 8 (since 25 Nov 2016) you are
eligible for a free upgrade to 9. If you didn't get the email, contact
Sales.

Sorry, Mike (and anyone else who might have been confused). When I gave
these directions I should have said that I am now using Legacy 9 and
didn't know if that option was available in earlier versions.

Now I have one more question. I can change the date format within Legacy
(e.g. to a U.S. style 4/29/2017), but this doesn't seem to get passed
through to the charting program. In my charts, I can't seem to get
anything but the British-style 29 Apr 2017. Is there a chart option to
change the date format?

Yes! Help & Options>Chart Options> then select the 2nd tab, Date Formats.
