Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy Media File.

2019-09-06 Thread Gail Morrow
Thank you Cathy Pinner for your reply to my query of 4 Sep.

I am not so good at describing issues so hope this makes it clearer.

I have two laptops... one with windows 10 and one with windows 7 . Trying
to get used to W10 but not there just yet.
I mostly work on the windows 7 laptop for Legacy, but have it installed on
both laptops.
The data file plus the media file is not as up to date on Window 10 as the
other laptop.

I believe W7 laptop is going to quit working so am trying to get things
transferred to other laptop.
I don't have trouble with backups or using usb's etc.. I have many newer
additions to the media file and don't know how to replace the media file
on Windows 10 with the one from Windows 7 laptop.
I hope this is clearer then before but if not I apologize in advance.

Re: [LegacyUG] Backing Up Family File

2019-08-17 Thread Gail Morrow
Thanks Chris and Ian.
Chris you helped me when I merged but I didn't take the same precautions
that you and Ian mentioned in this mail.
I still have that merge but haven't used it, am still operating on my
eight files.
I should re-read all the advice and try again. The problem was all the
same names, so many, now I know I can handle them incrementally. I will
keep you both updated on whatever transpires in this field.
So lovely to have help so readily available.

Thanks Cindy and Jenny:
I will take all your advice to heart, the videos are a good idea as well.
The merge I did was successful and I saved it, but am not using it as there
are so many
people with the same first and last names that it will take a long time to
decide which ones
are now in the one file many times over.

[LegacyUG] (no subject)

2019-08-15 Thread Gail Morrow
Backing up Family Files.

Hi Folks,
I haven't posted a query for a long time. I hate showing my lack of skill,
ha ha.
This question is likely impossible but thought I would ask anyway.
I have eight different Family Files, the merge I tried didn't work for me
so I am still faced with backing up eight families each time and that is
time consuming.
Is there any way to backup all eight at once?

Cheers,
Gail Morrow

Thank you so much Chris I am worried about trying this but with
backups, I should be alright. Cross my fingers.
You have made the process clear (I think, ha ha) and I will let you know
how it goes. Again thanks for your time.
