[LegacyUG] GEDCOMs - exporting - problem with deleting a source.
I have created a .gedcom of the ancestors of a 2x grgrandmother. I am trying to eliminate a faulty source that I don't need. Legacy won't delete it as it is being 'used.' When I click on show List,' I am told it is attached to Marriage Record 902. So I do a search on MRIN = 902. I am told it does not exist. So I go to the original file (the file I created the GEDCOM from) and search for MRIN = 902. That marriage record is for someone in an entirely different branch of the family, someone who is NOT included in the GEDCOM at all. So how do I get rid of the faulty source?? Thanks! If I were you, I would back up my database then do the maintenance on the old/current database then check to see if Legacy has deleted the unwanted source. Re: [LegacyUG] GEDCOMs - exporting - problem with deleting a source.
Hi, Anthony, Thanks -- I did that without a problem. However a weird thing is now happening when I try to open the .gedcom. I click on FileImport fromGedcom. It goes to the folder I have my .gedcoms in and I click on the file I want filename.ged It puts the name of the file in the Filename box/slot, and I click on Open. It immediately takes me to another window. Only the tail-end of the filename is showing in the filename box/slot, and the only kind of filetype showing in the lower right above the Open button is Legacy(*.fdb). No filenames are displayed in the window and instead it says No items match your search !!! So now what do I do??? Thanks, bgsu, You wrote: Or, when the OP gets that 'Show List' screen, he/she can press that big ol' button on the right which says 'Delete this Master Source and All Citations to it'. However, when I click on the Show List button, which would ordinarily take me to the window with the big button that you mention, I'm not taken to that Window at all!! Instead, I simply get a message saying This Master Source is attached to Marriage Record 902. -- which Marriage Record is not even in the file!!! Re: [LegacyUG] GEDCOMs - exporting - problem with deleting a source.
I suppose I should add that I was able to delete it in the original file, so all I have to do is put it back in correctly and create a new .gedcom. Which I hope to be able to open. Well, I've done that AND opened it.
