Re: [LegacyUG] Problems changing the size of the Legacy-window

2020-07-09 Thread Dave Naylor

Hello Christopher,

That's another old problem...

If Windows are maximised they will go to the default monitor (number 1).

The trick is to use window sizing for Legacy's opening page but set the
sizing to fill your screen.  Then close Legacy. Re-opening it should
cause it to return to the monitor where you closed it.

I use 2 monitors, with the desktop extended.  When I try to move
Legacy from one desktop to the other, and it snaps to full screen, but
it snaps to full screen on the other display, not the one it was moved
to.  Now it appears that Legacy is at fault, not me (and none of my
other programs have this issue).  Definitely a programming issue.

1. Turning off the Windows setting to show contents lets the window

continually looking for data to display there is no interruption of
the resizing and the redraw takes place when the window is at the new

2. Minimizing the current view in Legacy means only the outer frame is
redrawn but not all the family data for the view. Since there is no
data to find Legacy can redraw this while the resizing is ongoing so
the resize can proceed.

Re: [LegacyUG] Problems changing the size of the Legacy-window

2020-07-09 Thread Dave Naylor

Hello Loren,

This snapping back when dragging to re-size windows is an old problem
that some, but apparently not all, Legacy users have.

The work-around is to change a setting in Windows.  In Windows, go to
Settings > Multi-tasking > Work with multiple windows, and change Snap
windows to 'Off'.

If I wish to resize to other than "whole page", I use my mouse to place the
arrow on one of the corners of the program frame and drag the frame outwards
at 45 degrees.  This increases the height as well as the width of the Legacy
Frame.  However, I more normally wish to "maximise" the frame, so I click
on that little square in the group of symbols at top-right of the frame I
wish to maximise.  If I wish to reduce it again, I click on it again.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

there is a problem in resizing the main window. It is almost impossible!

Legacy 9.0.0.339
Windows 10 2004

The problem exists on my both computers.

Sorry for my bad English, but I'm no native speaker.

Best regards
Bernd

Hi Alan,

yes, thanks for Your help. But the resizing in this way does not wok for
me. I just found a workaround. Close the data-window, then resize and
reopen the data-window.

By the way, to maximize is not a good option for me on a 32" wide
screen...:-)

Thanks
