[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138842] New: UI: Counter-intuitive "Default" context menu item for comments

2020-12-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138842

Bug ID: 138842
Summary: UI: Counter-intuitive "Default" context menu item for
comments
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.7.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ming.v@qq.com

Description:
The Calc comment's context menu has an item labelled "Default" that performs
very counter-intuitive action and is IMHO rather useless.

Steps to reproduce:
1. New empty spread sheet, Insert > Comment;
2. Type some text in the newly created comment. On my system at least, the
background color of the comment box is PostIt yellow, and the font of the text
is Liberation Sans;
3. Use mouse to select all the text in the comment, right-click, see the
"Default" item at the bottom of the context menu, choose it;
4. The backgroud of the comment changes to blue, the font of the text changes
to Libreation Serif (and slightly large size, it seems), the shadow of the
comment box and the arrow of the leader line also changes.

One would expect "Default" means the comment would look like how it's created
without further formatting change. However it seems Calc comments are text
boxes in a rectangular shape with some special formatting, and this "Default"
menu just revert everything back as if it's just a regular shape with a regular
text box or something. (Just guessing here, as the blue color is the same
default color of a filled shape in Draw.)

Additional info:
This happens in 6.4.7 as well as in 7.1.0 Beta1:
Version: 6.4.7.2 (x64)
Build ID: 639b8ac485750d5696d7590a72ef1b496725cfb5
CPU threads: 2; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18363; UI render: default; VCL: win;
Locale: zh-CN (zh_CN); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded

Version: 7.1.0.0.beta1 (x64)
Build ID: 828a45a14a0b954e0e539f5a9a10ca31c81d8f53
CPU threads: 2; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18363; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: zh-CN (zh_CN); UI: zh-CN
Calc: threaded

Also if one does not select all text in the comment, and click "Default"
context menu, the background of comment doesn't change, but the text font still
does.

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: trivial
  Priority: medium

Description:
Check the screenshot attached[0], the icons on the left side, indicating
whether a standard or customized installation should be performed.

Noticed that even though the screenshot is about 6.4.4.2, it does happen on
7.0.3.1 aka. latest fresh release.

Yes, the installation goes fine, but it is just a small glitch.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download windows installer from official site
2. Open installer
3. Check the page asking for which kind of installation user wants to perform.

Actual Results:
Icons are tiny under 4K resolution.

Expected Results:
Should be the same relational size in the window as under 1080p or lower.

Reproducible: Always

Copy/pasting the complex slide is fast with 7.0.3.1.

Not sure if should report a different bug or it is a continuation of the same

Libre Office consumed all your RAM when working with tables

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open any CSV-file
2.Open any ODF-file
3.Select in CSV-file several columns (the entire columns, using the top row of

range).
4. Copy selected columns from CSV to ODF with Ctrl+C & Ctrl+V
5. Save the ODF and run the htop utility to see what happens next
6. Close all Libre Office documents. At this point, RAM consumption will

You say that in your system, diacritics do not attach in 7.0.3 and neither in

At our end 6.4.7 is being used to write Sanskrit and works fine because the
diacritics get attached.

(In reply to Ashwini from comment #12)
> Created attachment 168040 [details]
> geometric shape dotted circle shows up on inserting special characters
Yes, I can confirm that when opened in 7.0.4 RC1 the diacritic marks are
separated, with the dotted circle, instead on the glyph it's supposed to attach
to.

However, when opened in 6.4.7, it's exactly the same.

So to me, who has no experience on Sanskrit in particular or any CTL language
in general (so take my opinion for whatever it's worth), this looks like an
issue about how LO handles the input of Sanskrit characters, instead of the
original issue about font rendering. This issue also doesn't seem to have
anything to do with font metrics.

My suggestion, therefore, is reporting the new issue as a new bug, and provide
detailed steps to reproduce (preferrably steps can be done on systems without
Sanskrit support installed). Meanwhile this bug can be resolved as WORKSFORME
as it's fixed in 7.0.3.

Dear Jacobo Aragunde Pérez,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

2020-12-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121933

Dear Aron Budea,

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

Stuart, thank you for the work you've done so far on the underlying issue,
which as I understand it is the incorrect width calculation for the sidebar
with UI scaling applied. If the fix for this is a ways off, would it be
feasible to temporarily add an option (off by default and perhaps featuring a
warning) to turn off the minimum width restriction for the sidebar so that
users like me can rely on it as a mitigation for the issue of excessive minimum
width?

Status: UNCONFIRMED

An search box inside LO for searching all commands and features like Unity
desktop environment's HUD had would be very helpful and specially for new
users. Such feature is very useful for apps having lots of options and LO falls
in that category, or at least just qualifies for it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138837] New: UI: Being able use the option 'Save' Image without conversion

2020-12-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138837

Bug ID: 138837
Summary: UI: Being able use the option 'Save' Image without
conversion
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tele...@surfxs.nl

Description:
UI: Being able use the option 'Save' Image without conversion

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the attached file
2. Right click the image & press Save
3. Save dialog appears, showing the proper extensions (based on source file
type)
4. Put file name in it and press Save
5. Options dialog appears

Actual Results:
It appears to me LibreOffice is re-compressing on save

Expected Results:
As JPG is loosely format.. this ends up in unneeded quality loss. So it would
be nice if there is a possibility make a choice between direct save or
recompress.

Yes, you can get to the 'source file' by extracting the zip.. A browser isn't
reprocessing if you choose save image.. so this maybe kind of confusing.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha0+ (x64)
Build ID: 796c7f612603490dda9277ced0f6ab3cce3bc116
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.3 Build 9600; UI render: default; VCL: win

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138836] New: UI: Save shape inside right click context menu

2020-12-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138836

Bug ID: 138836
Summary: UI: Save shape inside right click context menu
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tele...@surfxs.nl

Description:
UI: Save shape inside right click context menu

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Draw
2. Insert a shape
3. Right click it -> No save function

Actual Results:
No save function in the right click context menu

Expected Results:
Expected is to strong.. but save (which actually would be export) would make
sense in some way. It would be similar to 'save' for images. And people do
export individual shapes I noticed.. But no clue about how many people there
are doing this..

For the record, personally my 2 cents

Reproducible: Always

@Jan-Marek
This kind of side-step of the core bug (which doesn't require your expertise).
However I have seen few reports similar to the report below. Which is
processing the keyboard input in wrong order under heavily load. The bug here
apparently exposes this for the moment (moving into shadows again after issue
getting solved).

And might be also related to the German keyboard (has ü a dedicated key?). And
kind of relate this to timers (which is you're expertise).. And likely having
a German keyboard might help too.

Only hypothesis.. And not intending to 'drag' you into this as this is
side-stepping the 'normal' procedure (not hypothesis confirmed). And developer
time being precious thing..

But some code knowledge (and maybe German keyboard) kind of helpful to make
sense of this..

Update: seems it's not even necesseray to disable user specific settings
(previous step 2 is unnecessary). LibreOffice Portable always opens the usecase
document with 120% and it seems that I have no way to enforce my desired zoom
level and page layout :(

I did do this, and it turns out that the bug is indeed a feature: For some
reason my profile had "Direct Cursor Mode" turned on.

I put this to resolved→invalid, although I might be worth checking if other
users have the same issue.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138833] New: Impossible to save a Calc file with a chart with an invalid data range obtained when converting from data table

2020-12-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138833

Bug ID: 138833
Summary: Impossible to save a Calc file with a chart with an
invalid data range obtained when converting from data
table
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.2.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ouyang.le...@hotmail.com

Description:
In a chart with an internal data table copied to Calc, starting the process of
replacing the internal data table by data ranges (but without actually
configuring the data ranges) can leave the file in a state impossible to be
saved.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create a chart in Word, copy it to Excel.
2. Edit the chart and select "Data Ranges".
3. Choose Yes in the confirmation popup, the Data Ranges settings popup
appears.
However, the values chosen in the ranges are non-sensical, they do not refer to
cells at all ("category" for Categories, etc.)
4. Cancel this popup.

Actual Results:
The invalid ranges chosen by default are kept, the original data is still
displayed, and the file becomes impossible to save with the chart in it. A
popup appears "Error saving the document" "Write Error" "The file could not be
written".

Expected Results:

The default ranges should be valid by default, like when creating a new chart.
Even if the data is overwritten by an empty chart, the file stays usable.

Reproducible: Always

I tried resetting the user, unfortunately with the same result.

One more note, I don't know if it matters, I am German speaking and use umlauts
accordingly.
When typing quickly a word with umlauts like e.g. "Frühstück" (breakfast) the
umlauts are twisted by the delay and it comes out something like "Fürühstck",
even if I typed the word correctly (I tested this several times!).

Re: LO calc formulas

2020-12-11 Thread Dante Doménech
I've been digging into calc code. And it makes me wonder about a few things.
First, in here: core /include
/rtl
/math.hxx

We have our own isnan, isinf, isfinite, ... and some of them with quite
strange code.
Why is the default c++ standard library isn't good enough?
The same goes for floor / ceil / round ...
Thank you for your time.

FWIW, I can reproduce the "first line not shown as bold" on Windows:
Version: 6.4.7.2 (x64)
Build ID: 639b8ac485750d5696d7590a72ef1b496725cfb5

Locale: zh-CN (zh_CN); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded

...not sure if that answers your question, though.

Let me know if there are more round-trip testing needed in LO. However I don't
have MS Office.

Already can configure to not show a preview of the fonts, or of the
styles--speeds things up.

1)  Tools -> Options -> View 'Show preview of fonts', uncheck;

2) Any module's Sidebar -> 'Styles' deck 'Show previews' uncheck.

The Styles preview will record stanza to user's LO profile

"false"

so edit there or this can be changed in the Expert configuration dialog as
well.

Couldn't find where 'Show preview of fonts' is recorded for directly editing.
