So I'll add my $.02 here as well. Here is my use case for Calc, and why I've wanted this issue addressed for so long. My situation cannot possibly be that unique: So, I work with spreadsheets pretty much all day long. And many of these get sent to clients for their decision-making, their reports, or for their records. Therefore, interoperability with other spreadsheet applications is of critical importance. Of course, with the vast VAST majority of my clients, the spreadsheet application they are using is Excel. The #1 reason I switched from OOo to LO years ago was because it offered better interoperability with Excel at that time. When I prepare a spreadsheet, I want it to be clearly readable, and I expect that what I see on my screen is a reasonable approximation of what another user will see on theirs. When it comes to .05pt borders, it looks nothing alike in Excel vs Calc. When I send clients a spreadsheet full of 0.05pt borders, what they see in Excel are dotted lines that are barely visible against the gray cell boundary lines. The attached screenshot is of Excel 2007, the last version of Excel I have a license for. It looks even worse in newer versions. Excel's borders default to 0.75pt so when clients send me a spreadsheet, they look just fine. In Calc, 0.05pt borders used to look exactly the same as 0.75pt borders (I believe as of version 7.0.x this is no longer the case). I had to check every border I draw on the spreadsheet, or there would be no way to know if that border had a weight of .05pt or .75pt. Then I would get clients wondering why the spreadsheet looks funky unless I remember to adjust all the borders. Fortunately, LO has OOo beat here as well. If I go into the Format Cells dialog, it does indeed default to 0.75pt. Kudos! However, if I use the toolbar button to apply a border, it still defaults to 0.05pt. And as far as I know, there's no way to change the weight of the border that the toolbar button applies. So I still need to remember every time I want to draw a border to NOT use the toolbar button and to always use the dialog instead. A while back I had an opportunity to get an Office 365 subscription at no cost to me and I jumped on it. For years, nearly every spreadsheet that I would give to a client was created or edited in Excel and I nearly stopped using Calc altogether for professional work, even though I greatly prefer the LO interface. I no longer have that subscription. I now use Excel 2007 rather than Calc for most things I give to clients, other than quick edits. So, yes, there are certainly use cases for wanting to be able to set one's own default border, besides one's own aesthetic tastes. There could be organizational branding at state, for example. In short, I agree that this would be a really useful feature for some people. Also, there is absolutely zero reason why the toolbar button should default to applying a border with a weight of 0.05pt. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Exporting to .epub format does not pass validation tests. The errors look minor, but the result renders the .epub output file unacceptable to many of the major e-book vendors. One reason the bug is severe is that the validators often describe problems in a form that only the converter-writer could comprehend (see the last example in the attachment, for example). The first attached file shows the test code. The second one shows the results of three of validators' analyses. The second attachment starts with the test file text and a description of how the .epub file was created. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 141663] New: Punctuation issues with nested RTL sentences in a RTL paragraph
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141663 Bug ID: 141663 Summary: Punctuation issues with nested RTL sentences in a RTL paragraph Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.1.2.2 release Hardware: All OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: bright.em...@gmail.com Description: When writing a sentence that is left-to-right (LTR) inside a right-to-left (RTL) paragraph, any punctuation mark at the end of the LTR sentence jumps to the beginning of that LTR sentence, instead of staying at the end of the LTR sentence. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start a document and set it up for a right-to-left language, such as Persian 2. Switch the keyboard to Persian. Start writing a Persian paragraph. It must be set right-to-left and right-aligned 3. In the same paragraph, switch the keyboard to English. Then write an English word with an exclamation mark at the end (or any other punctuation mark) Actual Results: As soon as you type the punctuation mark at the end of the English sentence, it jumps to the beginning of the English sentence (which is the end of the Persian paragraph). Expected Results: The punctuation mark must stay at the end of the English sentence within the Persian paragraph. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: When you switch the keyboard from Persian to English, the behaviour of the typesetter must follow the ways of that language, i.e. LTR. Then when the keyboard is switched back from English to Persian, the behaviour of the typesetter must go back to the RTL behaviour. This is the correct behaviour and MS Word correctly does that. LO Writer does not do it correctly. If you try the above-mentioned steps inside an MS Word document, you will see the correct behaviour. Here is a paragraph to use as an example (it is not showing as RTL on this page, and the punctuation appears in the right location. Copy and paste it into a new LO Writer document, set the paragraph to RTL and right-aligned, and see what happens): انگلیسی باستانها، از نظر گویش، بسیار متفاوت از انگلیسی امروزی است. برای نمونه، واژههای light و drought، به ترتیب به صورت «لیخت» و «دراخت» تلفظ میشد یا جملهٔ Will you give me your jacket, good man?، چنین ادا میشد: Wilt ðu sellan me ðin clæð, godman min? در این دوره شماری واژه، از زبان لاتین، وارد انگلیسی شد که واژگانی چون: altar, mass, priest, psalm, temple, kitchen, palm, pear,... از آن جملهاند. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I propose instead, if "Online update" is not chosen to be installed, to change the source code of the UI to show a message like "Online update not installed. Please download the installer and change your installation to have the component "Online update" checked." Another solution would be to check during runtime if the component is installed every time a user clicks on "Online Update". Besides, two minor issues occurred during installation: -- The message "System start will be needed if we proceed with installation" (or something similar) was displayed multiple times. One time suffices. -- Concerning selecting the installation components: In the tree, even for components with no children, the user can choose between - "This component will not be installed locally", - "This component will be installed locally" or - "This component _and all its subcomponents_ will be installed locally". [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140708] The REGEX function accepts all (ismx) but one (w) flags and only directly in the regular expression and does not allow all matches to be found at once
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140708 --- Comment #4 from Igor --- Eike Rathke, 1) At least one flag ("i") duplicates the corresponding pattern option. E.g. With com.sun.star.i18n.TransliterationModules oOptions.transliterateFlags = .IGNORE_CASE End With And how to use the following constants, I still do not understand: Const Long REG_NOT_BEGINOFLINE = 0x0800 Const Long REG_NOT_ENDOFLINE = 0x1000 But this appears to be our flag "m"... And if the analogy with Python is appropriate here, then the approach that I described is used there, only the sequence of flags ("ismxw") as a string is used. https://docs.python.org/3/library/re.html 2) REGEX("barbaz";"a";;"g") returns not "aa", but an array of 2 matches {a; a}, and if one cell is selected, it will get the first value from the array according to the array processing rule. But the user can join an array of matches and output it as a string. Why is this needed? In order not to iterate over the return values one by one during multiple calls to the REGEX function when the total number of matches is unknown. To do this, you need to organize a loop and write a macro. And if REGEX with the "g" (Global) flag replaces all occurrences, wouldn't it be logical to extract all of them also? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99025] [FORMATTING, FILESAVE] Column breaks are not properly exported as .doc
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99025 Justin L changed: What|Removed |Added CC||jl...@mail.com --- Comment #4 from Justin L --- Created attachment 171133 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=171133=edit 99025_tableColumnBreakAfter.odt: simple, but different outcome, test document. I'm not sure if this document mimics OP's problem closely enough(it doesn't seem to since it doesn't introduce a continuous sectionbreak), but it does show that the column break on the table is simply not even seen on export of doc, and DOCX also doesn't work properly. In OP's example, the tables themselves are set with Column-BreakAfter - which Word can't handle directly, so it has to be moved to the following paragraph as a column-BreakBefore. But for some reason it is exporting as continuous section break instead of a manual break (at least, according to Word 2003) - also for DOCX. P.S. Always using BreakBefore exports nicely. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
