My Linux Mint 17.3-version is, on the contrary, a 64-bit version, which I could confirm by running *uname -a* in a terminal, as seen below : Linux XX 4.2.0-27-generic #32~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 22 15:32:26 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Thus, if, indeed, the ppa's do automatically follow system architecture, my version of LibO should be 64-bit. Re: [Libreoffice-qa] LibreOffice 4.4.4 RC1 available
2015-05-30 15:04 GMT+02:00 Robinson Tryon bishop.robin...@gmail.com: Dear Community, The Document Foundation is pleased to announce the first release candidate of LibreOffice 4.4.4. The upcoming 4.4.4 will be the first in a sequence of frequent bugfix release for our feature-packed 4.4 line. Please be aware that LibreOffice 4.4.4 RC1 is not been flagged as ready for production use yet, however feel free to give it a try instead of 4.4.3. A work-in-progress list of new features in LibreOffice 4.4 can be found at https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/4.4 The release is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X from our QA builds download page at http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/ Developers and QA might also be interested in the symbol server for windows debug information (see the release notes linked below for details) Should you find bugs, please report them to our Bugzilla: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org A good way to assess the release candidate quality is to run some specific manual tests on it, our TCM wiki page has more details: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Testing/Regression_Tests#Full_Regression_Test For other ways to get involved with this exciting project - you can e.g. contribute code: http://www.libreoffice.org/community/developers/ translate LibreOffice to your language: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/LibreOffice_Localization_Guide or help with funding our operations: http://donate.libreoffice.org/ A list of known issues and fixed bugs with 4.4.4 RC1 is available from our wiki: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/4.4.4/RC1 Let us close again with a BIG Thank You! to all of you having contributed to the LibreOffice project - this release would not have been possible without your help. On behalf of the Community, Robinson -- Robinson Tryon QA Engineer - The Document Foundation Kudos and thanks, Robinson, to you and to all the members of the development team !... Re: [Libreoffice-qa] [ANN] LibreOffice 4.4.3 rc2 test builds available
2015-04-29 14:38 GMT+02:00 Christian Lohmaier lohma...@googlemail.com: Hi *, for the upcoming new version 4.4.3 the builds for RC2 are now available on pre-releases. It is a build in release-configuration, meaning that it will update a previous version of LibreOffice on Windows. Linux and Mac users can install alongside LibreOffice 4.3 See https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/4.4#4.4.3_release for the complete schedule. Grab the builds from here here: http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/ The list of fixed bugs relative to 4.4.3 rc1 is here: http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/src/bugs-libreoffice-4-4-3-release-4.4.3.2.log So playing with the areas touched there also greatly appreciated - and validation that those bugs are really fixed. Thanks a lot for your help, Christian ___ List Name: Libreoffice-qa mailing list Mail address: Libreoffice-qa@lists.freedesktop.org Change settings: http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-qa Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libreoffice-qa/ Thanks for this heads-up, Christian ! I previously installed 4.4.3 RC 1 on my (64-bit) Windows8.1 boxes ; after reading your message above I checked for updates in the programme, but received, as I usually do in LO - see previous messages on this topic - a message to the effect that «LO is updated». The version presently installed is 4.4.3.1, with Build ID: b2f347f2ac68821efc00b6f1793cda90af748118 (and language setting sv_SE). Is this the latest and greatest, or do I, as I suspect, have to download and install RC 2 separately (I'd really like to see that problem with the update checker fixed) ? (When it comes to versions for Linux, upon which I depend for production, I'll wait until the PPA forwards me the 4.4.3 stable version, which, if I understand the schedule aright, will be released next week) Many thanks for wonderful work the developers devote to making LO the fantastic product it is !... Re: [Libreoffice-qa] Calc freeze issues
2014-02-07 14:59 GMT+01:00 Kohei Yoshida libreoff...@kohei.us: Hi there, FYI, a large number of Calc freeze problems may be attributed to the same root cause, which I fixed for Bug 72470 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72470 The problem code kicks in when you have a document that has at least one cell containing mixed script types. Pretty much any action can trigger this. Typing a new value into a cell, copy-n-pasting a range of cells, changing cell format, inserting cells, sorting, you name it. But what does mixed script types mean? Internally Calc categorizes text language types into 3 script types: latin, asian, and complex. Latin covers the western languages such as English, French, German etc, Asian covers Chinese, Japanese, Korean (and Vietnamese?), and Complex covers Arabic, Hebrew etc. If you see a bug report that claims Calc freezes after doing ABC, and it only does in the new 4.2.0 release (or beta and RC before that), check the content of the file and see if it has mixed script types. If so, it may be caused by the same root cause as the above bug. Please re-check those bugs again with the build that contains the fix for that bug. I've browsed through bugzilla last night, and I saw quite a number of them that may fit the profile. Thanks, Kohei Kohei, any chance of a patch for Linux (in my specific case, deb) users being posted in the near future, in addition to those you've already posted for Windows and Mac users, respectively ?... Meanwhile, I believe there is a way to install an rpm on the debian based system, and that's probably what people have been doing. I don't know the specifics though. [Libreoffice-qa] Another suggestion for LibO developers

My question is - would it be difficult to provide such an option in Calc ? LibreOffice is often accused of simply attempting to catch up to MS Office ; perhaps including a feature like the forenamed could help to change minds and to put it on quite a few computers used in writing scientific articles ? ... 2014-02-02 Pedro pedl...@gmail.com: Hi Henri mhenriday wrote My question is - would it be difficult to provide such an option in Calc ? LibreOffice is often accused of simply attempting to catch up to MS Office ; perhaps including a feature like the forenamed could help to change minds and to put it on quite a few computers used in writing scientific articles ? It's not exactly a new feature in an Open Source spreadsheet... Gnumeric already had box plots (and other scientific charts and tests) for years (in association with the R project, under Plot Type Statistics and the whole Statistics menu, of which some are FINALLY included in the unstable LO 4.2)... I think that the problem is that none of the FLOSS softwares and file formats are taken seriously under the Windows platform... Hell, FLOSS softwares don't even take each other seriously... E.g. Calc NEVER supported gnumeric files (although Gnumeric does support ODS) and FINALLY the current unstable version 4.2 supports Abiword files... To be honest it is not only a problem for FLOSS under Windows... Even the vastly superior QPro (part of Wordperfect Office) is an underdog because of MS' marketing tactics... So as usual in a capitalist open market it is not the technically better Beta video standard that wins but the crappy VHS with the strong lobby ;) Just my 2 cents ;) Thanks, Pedro - a most interesting analysis ! But my question remains : would the developers find introducing such a feature into Calc, which, from what you write, I gather would not be too difficult to do, worthwhile ? When I create a document and then choose the option to export to .pdf, the regular PDF window opens, and, all if fine, BUT, when you then go on to Export, the file name that shows automatically has the .odt extension tacked onto the end of the file. I copied in the relevant portions of the terminal log by way of explanation. Is this the sort of reporting you and MozTrap had in mind, or have I utterly misunderstood ? I'd be most grateful if you could take a look at the my MozTrap report and tell me whether I'm on the right track or no Yes, it's allright, you're doing all well :) adding details when the test fails is really a good thing. So thanks a lot, and don't hesitate if you have other questions. Cheers Sophie Thanks, Sophie ! Good to know that I hadn't entirely misunderstood ! As a matter of fact, I did use Christian's link to access the clean install set, but alas, it would seem that the dependency issue remains alive and well, at least for the Swedish helppack. I'm hoping Christian will take a further look at this matter and report back on this thread when the dependency issue has been corrected ; I'll then try once again to install the helppack and, in the event I succeed run further MozTrap tests À bientôt Henri Just a line, Sophie, to say that when I clicked the link provided by Christian in his latest announcement regarding 4.2.0 RC2, unlike in the previous case, a download link for the Swedish langpack (which has to be installed prior to the installation of the Swedish helppack) was now displayed, so the dependency problems which I experienced earlier didn't turn up this time around. Thus I've been able to perform most of the MozTrap tests, with excellent results. Kudos to the developers !... Re: [Libreoffice-qa] [ANN] LibreOffice 4.1.0 RC4 test builds available for smoketesting
2013/7/25 Dan Lewis elderdanle...@gmail.com There still seems to be a problem with 4.1.0.4 for Debian x86. I downloaded it for my Ubuntu laptop and then installed. It installs in /opt/libreoffice4.1. However, when I click on soffice in the /opt/libreoffice4.1/program folder, version 4.0.3.3 appears when I click on Help About LibreOffice. The download was from http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/. I'm now sure what happened since I installed version 4.0.3.3 when it first came out. Another thing: Today's installation added 4.1.0.4 to my menu. However, if I double click any of the LibreOffice 4.1.0.4, the 4.0.3.3 is the one that runs. --Dan Dan, I have the LO-PPA installed on my 64-bit Linux Mint 15 setup. Early this morning I was apprised of a new update and when I accepted, 4.1.0.4 was uploaded, smooth as silk. Clicking on any of my LO icons on the top panel now opens the 4.1.0.4 version of the application in question. Colour me pleased. Re: [Libreoffice-qa] Send Feedback...and BSA ideas
2013/7/12 Joel Madero jmadero@gmail.com Hi All, After a long discussion with Robinson we came up with a quasi workable plan for what we hope to be the new setup for send feedback... - I think currently there are a couple problems with the send feedback button within LibreOffice: a) Send Feedback... implies more than just bug reporting but currently it's only linked to BSA b) It is assumed that the increase of user support questions being submitted as bug reports is coming from send feedback... c) BSA requires additional logins - so if a user wants to submit feedback they have to get an account So here was the idea(s): Landing page similar to Mozilla's (smiley face/frowny face) with perhaps 2 or 3 options - user support, bug report, maybe get involved or some such thing If they click bug report it would go to BSA but to address Bjoern's concern about the number of steps required to report a bug (ie. mandatory to get an account, sign in, etc...) we would allow users to report without an account but give the option to get an account and explain how it's helpful to have one. The idea is that if the user chooses to submit without an account, the bug will be reported under a default account (possibly b...@tdfplanet.org), they will be forced to enter an email address and do a captcha - then their email address would go into the bug report as a CC'ed user. So this would affect BSA as a whole - the negative(s): 1. Reporters won't be as accurate any more - but honestly I'm not sure if we care about this 2. Reporters will need an account if they are going to comment on their bug in the future, may result in NEEDINFO's going stagnant butthis is the case anyways probably not going to result in a huge increase. Currently Mozilla (which we discussed during ESC) doesn't force a user account so, if we can emulate this and get to a landing page which avoids having to sign up for accounts - might be a good thing. Before we move forward looking for feedback, Robinson feel free to expand on anything that I missed. Warm Regards, Joel Sounds good to me, Joel, particularly than part about not requiring a user account Henri ___ LibreOffice mailing list LibreOffice@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice
