Thank you for the suggestion. This is already tracked in bug 90007, so I am
marking as duplicate. Please feel free to comment there if you want (your
use-cases might be useful to give weight to the idea).

One of the problems is, that it's not only the slow loading. When the document
should be edited, the style properties are not changed for about 30 seconds.
After this, when I try to change the style, LO crashes:

Failed vulkan call. Error: -4,QueueSubmit(queue, 1, , fence)

Can then this be adjusted for future LibreOffice releases, so that the
installation scripts themself take care of this procedure, without presenting
the overly dramatic "need to reboot the computer" information to the user, if
there indeed are no technical requirements for a real reboot?

[Bug 161186] New: Unable to use the paste special dialog under KDE Wayland

2024-05-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161186

Bug ID: 161186
Summary: Unable to use the paste special dialog under KDE
Wayland
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 24.2.2.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: bojidar.marinov...@gmail.com

Description:
When I try pasting from a web-browser (or anywhere else for that matter) using
Shift-Ctrl-V into Writer (or Impress), I get the Paste Special dialog. However,
no matter which option I select, I end up with the same "Requested clipboard
format is not available." info-box.
Normal Ctrl-V pastes work perfectly.
Pasting in Calc does not result in that error.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open LibreOffice Writer
2. Copy some text in any other application (in my example, Firefox, but I can
reproduce with Kate and with apps running under XWayland)
3. Trigger the Paste Special dialog, either through Shift-Ctrl-V or through the
menu.
4. Select one of the options that show up (shouldn't matter which one)

Actual Results:
5. A window saying "Requested clipboard format is not available." pops up
(though it just showed that format being available).

Expected Results:
5. The text or image is pasted using the format specified.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Version: 24.2.2.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 420(Build:2)
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 6.8; UI render: default; VCL: kf6 (cairo+wayland)
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
24.2.2-2
Calc: threaded

Running on Arch Linux (the libreoffice-fresh package) under KDE / Wayland, with
no language packs installed. Willing to help with extra debugging, including
compiling from source if necessary.

Might be a bug in KDE's Wayland implementation. However, wl-paste seems to be
able to paste correctly given the right MIME type, and e.g. `wl-paste --type
text/html` produces the clipboard contents just fine.

WORKAROUND:

If I set SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3, I get the "Unformatted Text" option working
again. However, any other paste options still result in the same error.

I can also get unformatted text to work by either using the Shift-Ctrl-Alt-V /
Paste Unformatted option, or by pasting into and recopying from a text editor.

And is it a regression from early 7.6? Or 7.5?

I just tested on Linux with a file containing 8 pages with 2 photos each,

I can reproduce in:

Version: 24.8.0.0.alpha1+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: d0702a3f17c1fbd1b8ffb9ca0b275943e1a1f442
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 6.5; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded

The issue with some elements of the crown shifted is also seen in LO 6.0.0.3.

The issue with thinner lines on the bird appears later, in LO 7.0.

I bibisected it with linux-64-7.0 repo to first bad build
[832d59a7ce81712178f9b2537ed6b0bf7a9ccd39] which points to:

commit dd117712bd5692f7bf3870ba91572a0bab54ab86

tdf#124848 partial refactor hairline logic
Reviewed-on: https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/90057

Before commit, import into Draw look truer to original (CorelDRAW screenshot,
renderings on website).
After commit, some shapes have much thinner lines.
However, the thicknesses were always different, and zooming in before the
commit would also reveal the different thicknesses. So I'm unsure this actually
is a bug, and I think this report should focus on the shifted crown issue. (It
might already be covered by bug 133450 anyway.)

(In reply to Tyco72 from comment #15)
> In which LO version has the bug been fixed?

What made you think that comment 14 meant that something got fixed in the mean
time? It only told you that these spans on the borders of the changed
attributes are required, and are *not* going to be removed.

The whole issue is like "there is a third-party tool (screenshots in attachment
172262 and attachment 172304), which can't handle spans properly; it is made
specifically to work OK with the markup that Word generates (of course - how
could anyone not tune for Word!), but not for correct HTML compliance/handling
in general; which makes it choke on the normal output that LibreOffice
procudes. Change your output, to please that broken tool".

My take: NOTABUG.

What happens exactly when you try to open a file? Any error message? A crash?
If it crashes, do you get a crash report dialog? If so, please submit one and
share the link to it.

If you are able to open the Start Centre, or a different component to Writer
(e.g. Calc, Draw...), please share the full version information copied from
Help > About LibreOffice.

Please also try to reinstall/repair the installation by running the installer
again.

[Bug 160888] Cannot unprotect protected macro library (hang)

2024-05-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160888

(In reply to Theo from comment #14)

I repeated the tests, within each version and also mixing them.

Other than the delay, during which I patiently wait without clicking on
anything nor pressing on any key, I have no problem when I test with test2.ods,
attachment 194202.

I also attempted introducing an incorrect password. The delay is there too, but
eventually the invalid password message shows up.

I always saved, closed, and reloaded the file before proceeding with the next
step.

Maybe there is some user's action during the delay (of which the user has no
clue about, as it would seem that Calc is just waiting) that triggers the
crash.

@Theo, Is it possible that clicking multiple times on the OK button while
awaiting for Calc to react triggers the crash? Could you think of any user's
action (as oppose to patiently awaiting Calc) that might influence the outcome?

Regarding the difference between test.ods attachment 194193, and test2.ods
attachment 194202, I guess that whatever is happening while introducing the
password and saving the file in @Theo's system might be "breaking" something. I
have to wonder whether the "UI render: default" setting in @Theo's system makes
any difference. That, together with the OS.

Someone with the same OS as @Theo's (macOS 14.4.1) should try to reproduce the
behavior using test2.ods attachment 194202 and report back. I cannot reproduce
the crash with that file on MS Windows.

[Bug 160888] Cannot unprotect protected macro library (hang)

2024-05-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160888

I just downloaded test2.ods from here (to make sure I am using the same copy as
@ady). Password protect the macro library, save the file, close the file and
reopen it:

LO 24.2 hangs when I try to unprotect the macro library.

BTW: when I try an incorrect password (on purpose) LO 24.2 also hangs.

I can confirm that a file with a macro library that was password protected by
LO24.2 can not be unprotected by LO 7.6. LO comes back with "incorrect
password".

2024-05-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161182

Bug ID: 161182
Summary: Advanced search and replace not finding direct
formatted words
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 24.2.2.2 release
  Hardware: ARM
OS: macOS (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium

Video of the bug

Hi,

Bug: as of 24.2.2.2 possibly earlier, the advanced search does not find any
word with a specific direct formatting. Tested with highlight.

What it should do: it should find words with a specific direct formatting

Reproduce:

Open the attached test document with two different highlighted words

Open (cmd alt F in Mac) the advanced search and replace, click on the search
slot, then on format, then on highlighting then color, then on either one of
the colors used in the example (yellow or lime), save, Find next. "Search key
not found message" should be seen.

Sadly my patch did not work out. I believe there is still a lot of scope for
improving the loading of this document, but I lack the requisite skills to work
out what needs to be done. I am pretty sure we can bypass 2 or more layers of
code and talk directly to the writer core.

[Bug 161181] New: Make command line placeholders translatable in the "Starting LibreOffice with Parameters" documentation page

2024-05-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161181

Bug ID: 161181
Summary: Make command line placeholders translatable in the
"Starting LibreOffice with Parameters" documentation
page
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 24.8.0.0 alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Documentation
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: stephane.guil...@libreoffice.org
CC: fit...@ubuntu.com, olivier.hal...@libreoffice.org
Blocks: 114068

As discussed on gerrit[1], on the "Starting LibreOffice with Parameters" help
page[2], placeholders like "Printername", "OutputFilterName" or
"OutputFilterParams" (some of them denoted by curly braces: {placeholder})
can't be localised.

One would need to cleanly set those as localisable in the table, without
affecting the syntax around them. e.g. this wasn't suitable:
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/help/+/167614/2..3

Also depends on how `soffice --help` is localised (or not).

I assume this is since the fix for bug 138792, adding various fields in the
Description tab.

Indeed, at a resolution 1600×900 like yours (which is above the minimum
resolution supported[1]), the dialog does fit (as in comment 3) with win, gen,
kf5 and qt5 VCL plugins, but I also tested on Ubuntu 22.04 + GNOME 42.9 and can
confirm that the buttons overflow at the bottom.

Sarper, Heiko, what do you think?

Hello,

Currently, I'm working on this and am curious as to what is the consensus on
this? Should we stick to scrollbar? I think expanding the comment box (as
required) will surely improve the UX (although I still have to figure out how
will I do that).

Nor in 7.5.0.3.

With no name filled into the Options dialog, the File > Properties dialog has
only one row of tabs, even with the minimal 1024x768 resolution[1].

I then used the name "My first name is very very long My last name is also very
very long", and the text can fit in between the buttons now. Looks like the
dialog was re-organised at some stage.

Gordo and Martin, what resolution do you use? Is this still an issue in

ToanTran, can you please clarify what you mean by "consistently reproducible"?
Because the symptoms are not consistent for me: sometimes it drags-and-drops
the hyperlink, sometimes it selects characters. Which is the issue.
If it only moves the hyperlink, then that's what's observed with most VCL
plugins in bug 39015.

Dear Christopher M. Penalver,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

Dear Oliver Specht (CIB),

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team
