[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42030] New: print preview scaling buttons purpose not visually clear

I originally clicked on the buttons expecting the behavior one gets when clicking the +/- buttons in circle (2). When I did not get the desired visual appeal, I thought again that maybe I was messing with the margins. It finally dawned on me what it was doing (see PrintPreview2, but it took me more than a few seconds to kick myself from my preconceived notions. I submit that this could/should be made more visually explicit before 3.5. Unfortunately, I'm not a UI guy or I'd offer a suggestion. This may apply to other LO components as well, but I was using Calc when I noted it. This screenshots were made with master. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 37593] File New Template no longer remembers my last open folder
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37593 --- Comment #4 from David C. Rankin drankina...@suddenlinkmail.com 2011-10-20 08:13:48 PDT --- Devs, is there any progress on this bug? I can confirm it is still present in 3.4.3-4 (Arch Linux). I don't know how much trouble this one is to fix, but I can relate that it is one of the top frustrations in Libre Office right now. For users like myself that have multiple templates for letterhead, etc., having to watch my templates disappear right in front of my eyes when LO magically jumps from the 'My Templates' directory (last used) up to the parent folder under File - New - Templates and Documents is frustrating. This happens with every letter I have to write. I know manpower is always stretched, but if this one could be bumped up a bit in priority, it would get rid of one of the most visible bugs introduced in 3.4 (or late 3.3). It doesn't seem that difficult to just tell LO to stay with the 'last used' template directory. It has done that for years before this got introduced. From a rational standpoint, I don't know of anyone that uses any of the canned templates provided in LO (or any other office suite for that matter). The only templates a majority of users ever use are those they have created which get stored under 'Templates and Documents' - 'My Templates' in LO. That, in my experience, has always been where OO/LO returned to when the user selects File - New - Templates and Documents prior to this bug. Thanks for any help you can give to this bug -- it's one I'm reminded of every single day. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38327 --- Comment #9 from ra...@operamail.com 2011-10-20 14:58:35 PDT --- Just tested Nikos 's idea, and as I expected, it works to prevent data like 22.1 being converted autmatically to 22/01/11, but it still doesn't work in my case because I need that 22.1 to be a number so I can do math with it. With Nikos's idea I can at best prevent calc from converting things the wrong way automatically, but I would need still to convert data to numbers AGAIN (it was numbers in the first place...). And I can't see any whay of doing this sustainably: I would have to replace the dot with a comma so 22.1 became 22,1 and only then put that string into a =value() formula. It is complicated, by definition it shouldn't be necessary and if I ever need these files to be opened by a client/worker in a place where the locale setting uses dot as decimal separator instead of comma, I would need to change all these formulas, right? And would need to know which locale setting the person who will open the file has. Or not? It's just my opinion, but I think the logical calculations (that have nothing to do with place or locale) in a spreadsheet should not depend upon the PLACE or the LOCALE where the spreadsheet is being used in order to work. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

As things stand now, the copy's range names all refer to the original sheet, not the copy. This matter is handled correctly in Excel. An alternative treatment would be to offer the user a choice of alternatives for the copy operation. This could be accomplished by allowing the absolute reference operator ($) to be included or omitted in front of the sheet name. Right now, it appears to make no difference whether the $ is omitted or included - you will always get an absolute reference to the original sheet. The attached workbook is one I made up for use in evaluating alternative houses. I wanted to have one sheet for each house. Right now, if you copy the only sheet to make a 2nd one, you get named range references in the second sheet all referring back to the 1st sheet. Since the 2nd sheet will look very similar to the first one, this could easily mislead all but the most sophisticated users. At present the best workaround I can think of is to use a separate workbook for each house, which is awkward. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42078 Bug #: 42078 Summary: The buttons in combo boxes are not mirrored in RTL interface Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: LibO 3.4.3 release Platform: x86-64 (AMD64) OS/Version: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Localisation AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: bensha...@gmail.com Created attachment 52610 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=52610 Unmirrored combo box buttons in rtl ui under ubuntu 11.10 Using ubuntu Oneiric with the Ambiance, its default gtk3 theme, the buttons of combo boxes are not mirrored when working with an RTL interface. This is confusing when two combo boxes are adjacent, because the user would expect to open the combo box to the right of the button but will open instead the one to its left. I think filken's attachment (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=47328) describes very well the problem behavior of Bug 34725.
