Also, this is still a problem in the current git master branch for x86_64. It
could be a problem in git builds on x86 systems as well, however, I am not
running any x86 systems and cannot test that.

[Reproducible] with LibreOffice Portable 3.3.3 - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)
German UI [OOO330m19 (Build:301 Tag 3.3.3.1)].

Steps to reproduce:
1. penn attached sample.ods
2. Double click 'D3'
As expected referenced Cells B2, B3 get colored borders and references in
formula B2 and B3 are shown with colors of cell borders.
3. Double click 'D4'
Unexpectedly referenced Cells B2 (name = NamedCell1), B3 (name =
NamedCell2)
will NOT get colored borders and references in formula NamedCell1 and
NamedCell2 are NOT shown with colors of cell borders.

Might be an other aspect of Bug 41304 - EDITING: Cell formula shown without
colors, colored frames missing around referenced cells

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42147] New: Opening valid ODF text document crashes Writer

 Bug #: 42147
Summary: Opening valid ODF text document crashes Writer
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.3 release
  Platform: All

Status: UNCONFIRMED

Created attachment 52672
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=52672
The test case file causing a crash

Valid ODF text documents (created in LibreOffice 3.4.1 without an issue) that
contain at least one page with a frame, size of which is in certain proportion
to the page size and the header height on that page, cannot be opened in
LibreOffice 3.4.3 without causing a crash. Regardless of whether such
a document is opened from a running instance of Writer or whether it is passed
to 'libreoffice' executable as a command line argument (one can reproduce the
issue either way), LibreOffice starts to open the file showing a progress bar
and sometimes even rendering the first few pages of the document, and then
suddenly halts.

I experience the bug both on x86 and x86-64 systems running both Windows and
Linux. The minimal document I can create to reproduce this crash behavior,
consists of a single page with a frame of particular size. The file
containing that document is attached to this bug report.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38327] Pivot table converts text values to numbers in column headers

2011-10-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38327

--- Comment #10 from Nikos gdna7...@hotmail.com 2011-10-24 00:15:13 PDT ---
Unfortunately, I must revise my comment that changing the Pivot table
category style solves the problem in my case, since this is the case only in a
very limited number of cases. In other cases the pivot table just returns the
numeric value corresponding to the date it interprets in my data.

I am very disappointed by this behavior of the software. One of the reasons I
moved to Openoffice (back in 2.2) was that the distinction between different
data types (strings vs. numbers) was clearer than in the software we used till
that time. Even though I understand the urge to keep up with a market leader as
well as the necessity to maintain (or achieve) a high level of compatibility,
this is a point where the openoffice/Libreoffice approach up to version 3.3 was
clearly superior.

There are at least 4 bugs describing this behavior, which is creating serious
problems to advanced users, and I have not found a single reaction from a
developer thus far.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42148] New: EDITING: Inserting a manual page break causes a frame on the next page to disappear

2011-10-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Created attachment 52673
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=52673
The test case file for reproducing the bug

On certain configurations of a frame anchored to page, inserting a manual page
break (pressing Ctrl+Enter) in the text on the previous page make the frame
disappear. It is unclear whether that frame is deleted or just is not drawn
since then. Furthermore, the action of inserting the page break cannot be
fully undone: the disappeared frame does not reveal itself even after undo!

The issue occurs on both Windows and Linux versions of LibreOffice 3.4.3
running on both x86 and x86-64 systems. The test case document attached to
the bug report consists of two pages: one containing a text snippet and the
other dedicated to a page-anchored frame. To reproduce the issue put the
cursor just after the text Put cursor here and press Ctrl-Enter → on the
first page and insert a manual page break with Ctrl+Enter.

Apologies to the community if this is the wrong place to report this.

In any case, a greek spell checker has been available for some time, although
from extensions and not included with openoffice, see also
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/dictionaries

Now, the Greek (Hellenic) spell checkign/hyphenation is bundled with the latest
Openoffice installation packages.

At present, the same Greek extension is not included with Libreoffice. Since we
mainly deploy via windows Active Directory group policy mechanisms, I would
like to respectfully ask that you could consider including this package in the
upcoming Libreoffice distributions.

I have the following very annoying little issue: I want to copy and paste
something from a website into a LibreOffice document but as unformatted text
(to get rid of all sorts of formatting and hyperlinks and to make things fit
into my template immediately). So I copy something from Firefox (7.01) (on
Linux Mint 11 64 bit without Glipper or similar clipboard managers), go to
LibreOffice Writer (3.3.4) and do CTRL+SHIFT+V (or go to Edit: Paste special)
and nothing happens. The stuff is still in the clipboard because I can paste it
with CTRL-V, but I can't do the CTRL+SHIFT+V. So I always need to open Geany
paste it in there, copy it again, paste it into LibreOffice, close Geany, ...
This can't be what a text processing software in 2011 needs me to do ... Any
hints?

You're basically stuck with the ODF standard with its three categories. Though
maybe it could be possible to subvert that system and leave those distinctions
in place and stick a layer on top of it alright.

tml_ whee, by accident /me finds yet another stringbuffer type
class, sysui/source/win32/misc/AutoBuffer.hxx etc, and duplicated in
fpicker/source/win32/misc

This class should be removed and we should use sal/inc/rtl/ustrbuf.hxx's
OUStringBuffer instead. Shouldn't be extremely difficult, but needs to be done
/ build-tested using mingw32 / or under windows itself [ compiling under
windows is not for the faint hearted ].

Created attachment 52698
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=52698
Screenshot shows where the active cell effect remains after cell is
deactivated.

In Calc, with a sheet that has a frozen pane at the top/side, and you select a
cell to copy/paste its content, the crawling ants (flashing dashed lines)
that indicate an active cell remain flashing in the border area after you have
deactivated the cell. Note, this cell must be bordering a frozen area.

Here's how to recreate:

1) Open a new sheet, with no custom styles - a new sheet should now be open.

2) Click in cell, for example B3 - the cell should be highlighted with a thick
border.

3) Click on menu Window Freeze - a vertical and a horizontal line should
appear in the sheet, and they should converge at the top-left corner of cell
B3.

4) Enter some text in the cell then hit CRTL-C to copy that cell - The
crawling ants should be walking around cell B3, indicating it is active.

5) Paste that content in another cell.

6) After doing this, hit ESC to deactivate cell B3 - some ants are still
crawling round that cell, persistent little blighters! :)

It seems that the filter data range __Anonymous_Sheet_DB__ becomes smaller

Rows behind the last filter data range will be shown randomly after filter
action.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 41827] Better default background and shadow colors for Writer documents

--- Comment #4 from Christoph christoph.spamfo...@dogmatux.com 2011-10-24

(In reply to comment #3)
Needs advice from UX, I guess = Not an EasyHack for now.
@Christoph: Could you have a look or delegate as appropriate?

Well, the background is determined by the operating system, so Windows sets
something different (dark gray) than Gnome (light gray). So, currently the
platform (e.g. Linux distribution) is responsible for that.

Nevertheless, a discussion concerning visual improvements started some time
ago:
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Design/Whiteboards/DocumentBackground

Alternative: An additional appearance (color) setting might be delivered with
LibreOffice - loading / saving settings is available. That would be an
EasyHack, or?

Calc file sample with some formatting set

Problem description:
When I try to change font colour (foreground) - via combo-box on toolbar or via
Format Cells selected colour does not apply. Backgroud colour setting is
working, but foreground NOT.
Similar case found at
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9t=32425, but
with exception workaround with new sheet not working.
The right colour is displayed for cell value only while editing the text, after
pressing Enter - font again - Automatic black colour.

Some old files (Excel format) shows with proper formatting.
I had this bug in OpenOffice, changed to LibreOffice, but having the same
problem. I have Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit version.
On other notebook with Windows XP (32bit) - OpenOffice (and I suppose
LibreOffice too, but not tested) all working as expected.
Setting Deafult Formatting and then change colour - also not working.

Steps to reproduce:
1. enter text in cell
2. change colour (foreground)
3. font color not changed - remained Black (or Green (formula) or Blue for
numbers with Currency format applied))

Current behavior:
font colour not changed

Expected behavior:
font colour should change according to selection.

Platform (if different from the browser):
Windows 7, 64-bit, Service Pack 1 + small fixes.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42172] New: Problem with font for Greek characters in formula editor

2011-10-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42172

 Bug #: 42172
Summary: Problem with font for Greek characters in formula
editor
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.3 RC1
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Formula editor
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: prisl...@lroid.com

On one of my systems (OS: Win XP Professional SP3, English (US)), the Formula
editor has problems with the Greek characters:
1.
The Software uses different fonts for upper- and lowercase Greek characters.
2.
If the Edit-button in the Symbol Table is pressed, the software tells that the
predefined font for lowercase characters is Math1 (math1___.ttf), although this
actually is NOT TRUE! (They seem to be Helvetica or something like that).
3.
For uppercase Greek characters, the Formula editor uses two different fonts:
some letters are denoted as Times New Roman (what is unwanted, but seems to be
correct), while all others are incorrectly denoted as Math1 (although they are
Helvetica or something like that).
4.
If a new font is choosen for the %-commands (e.g. opens___.ttf), these
definitions are overwritten as soon as LibO is opend/started again.

On my other systems (OS: Win XP home edition, Win Vista; both German language)
LibreOffice automatically uses the font opens___.ttf for Greek characters and
there is no problem. Even if I open a file, written on the corrupted system,
the Greek characters are (correctly) shown with this font.

Note 1:
It seems to me that a similar problem also occurred to the person who wrote the
following manual: LibreOffice 3.3 Math Guide.
As indicated there in Figure 7 (page 8), the predefined font is NOT
opens___.ttf (as applied in the description and the table above Figure 7), but
seems to be math1___.ttf!

Note 2:
It seems to me that LibO sometimes uses different standard fonts for Greek
characters on different systems. This should not happen!
Additionally, it should be possible to change this standard font with ONE
click!

I can confirm that behavior (the described 'STEPS TO REPRODUCE': xappy/zappy)
with LibO 3.4.3 release on WinXP.

Another test with an existing user-defined dictionary (Language:

resulted in messed up entries at the end of the dictionary.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42100] EasyHack: calc sheet tab widget ...

--- Comment #4 from Kohei Yoshida kohei.yosh...@gmail.com 2011-10-24 14:18:19

I think Michael is talking about the default tab control width when the width
is not explicitly specified.

The tab control width can be stored with the document, so when it is stored
with the document, we should just set that width don't do our own width
calculation.

When the width is not explicitly set, however, we simply use the default size
of the tab control, which appears to be 270 pixel wide regardless of the number
of initial sheets. And here, we could indeed use a bit more clever algorithm
to determine the best tab control width given the number of sheets.

The width of the sheet tab control is calculated in ScTabView::DoResize(),
along with the size of all the other controls. One should be aware that the
width may be set manually via ScTabView::SetTabBarWidth(), after which we
should stick with that manual width. The tab control itself is defined by
class ScTabControl, which is a child class of class TabBar in svtools.

The tricky part is, we may not know the required width of the sheet tab control
such that all the sheet tabs be visible. So, depending on how good we want the
algorithm to be, we may have to tweak the code in class TabBar as well.

I would say this is a medium-difficulty easy hack.

working Microsoft Power Point presentation, which includes several videos that
needed to be re-inserted.

The videos were inserted and re-sized to fill the slide but playback as a small

Thanks a lot - this helped!

But, my opinion - such highlighting should not be applied to cell with custom
formatting, at least for simple text (not formula, not conditional formatting).

anyway - thanks once more!

[Reproducible] with LibreOffice 3.4.3 - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) German UI
[OOO340m1 (Build:302)]

Still visible with Server installation of Master LibO-dev 3.5.0 – WIN7 Home
Premium (64bit) English UI [(Build ID: d3d1481-3f8994a-2ba0a9f)] (110909).

Crawling ants remain on border to frozen or splitted area.

An other unexpected effect that might be related is that crawling ants do not
disappear after esc under particular circumstances. Steps to reproduce:

1. open new CALC document
2. Click E10
3. Menu 'Window - Split'
4. Click B4
5. control+c
   ants appear
6. click G12
7. esc
   Expected: ants around B4 disappear
Actual: ants around B4 do NOT disappear
8. Click C7
9. esc
now ants will disappear as expfcted

Another effect:
11. open new CALC document
12. Click E10
13. Menu 'Window - Split'
14. Click B4, Type y, enter
15. Click B4, control+c
   ants appear
16. click G12
17. Control+enter
Expected: Paste and clear clipboard, ants around B4 disappear
Actual: Paste and clear clipboard, ants around B4 do NOT disappear
18. Redo from 15, but cell C6 in step 16
now ants disappear as expected.

BTW, what is the correct name for that ants?
