[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46864] New: FILEOPEN particular .RTF does not show different character styles in a line

2012-03-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46864

 Bug #: 46864
Summary: FILEOPEN particular .RTF does not show different
character styles in a line
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.1 RC1
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: NEW
  Keywords: regression
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de
CC: vmik...@suse.cz

This one is a spin off from Bug 40735 - FILESAVE to RTF causes wrong
font-style

The different problem here is that in reporter's ODT-RFT-Konverter-Test.rtf
from https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=50996 Stings ÄÖÜ (and
others affected from problem in Bug 40735) will not be shown in font style
SimSun when the document has been opened with LibO. MS WORD Viewer shows
different SimSun compared to Arial or Times New Roman of resting line.

For details please see comments in Bug 40735

May be further investigation will show that this one is not a separate bug.

NEW due to results in Bug 40735

Works fine with LibreOffice Portable 3.3.0 - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)
German UI [OOO330m19 (Build:6) tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4], so REGRESSION

Also ok with 3.4.1RC, 3.4.2RC, 3.4.5,
3.5.0Beta0Build ID: 3b32204-7f92fce-2ba0a9f, 3.5.0RC2

Results in my testkit when open documents wiht MS WORD Viewer

a) reported problem remains visible when I copy / paste special as plain text
to reporter's sample document and save as .rtf

b) no problem visible when I copy / paste special as plain text
to a new document and save as .rtf

c) Problem also visible when save original document as WORD6

d) no problem visible when save original document as WORD97

May be someone with better knowledge than mine can find out the differences
between originaldocumentcontentspasteasplaintext.odt and
newdocumentcontentspasteasplaintext.odt causing the different rtf export?

The FILESAVE problem is not visible with OOo 3.3., my first observation is
with reporter's sample and LibreOffice Portable 3.3.0 - WIN7 Home Premium
(64bit) German UI [OOO330m19 (Build:6) tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4].

The different date of appearance (compared to Bug 46864) seems to underpin my
suspect that those 2 bugs are different.

REGRESSION because worked in last OOo version before LibO started.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46501] EasyHack: cleanup SimpleResMgr ...

2012-03-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46501

--- Comment #2 from Szabolcs Dézsi dezsisz...@hotmail.com 2012-03-02 00:40:58
PST ---
(In reply to comment #0)
The SimpleResMgr has two constructors, one taking an rtl::OUString and the
other a simple char * - since we now have implicit construction of OUStrings,
this was seen to cause problems.

Hello!

I removed the constructor with the OUString parameter.
There was one error after i tried to compile.

In extensions/source/resource/oooresourceloader.cxx (line 205):

204:   ::rtl::OUString sBaseName( _rBaseName );
205:   m_pResourceManager = new SimpleResMgr( sBaseName, m_aLocale );

sBaseName is of type OUString and there's no constructor with this parameter.
What did you mean by implicit construction? (not implicit conversion I presume,
because with implicit conversion this should work (I think))

Szabolcs

When one anchors an image in a cell, one does not expect this image size to
change when the line height is changed.

However calc will distort images whenever the user selects all cells and ask to
resize line heights to see hidden text (I know one can fix the image size but
1. this is not the default and 2. it also inhibits resizing the image via mouse
controls. Cell line height should not change inserted images at all)

When editting multi-line text in a cell, where some words are bold and others
not, calc will unexpectedly kill all formatting and apply the same style to all
words (it seems to happen when one starts modifying the text at the end of the
cell or when using the mouse wheel)

This makes editting text very awkward, time consuming and annoying. Please fix.

This is the profile folder with the broken formula editor.

All is well. Thanks to all of you for your help. Once the old profile (
/.config/LibreOffice ) was deleted, I reinstalled from the 3.5 DEBS and it
worked well.

The fact that the new profile crashes with an old profile still ought to be a
bug. But I will leave that to the experts.

Thanks again.

It is very common for users to want to create forms with simple controls
(typically forms where some option can be toggled or not, limited-choices
lists, etc)

Unfortunately calc only allows creating complex forms that depend on macros and
cell queries, which are way over complex for what 90% of users want to do and
trigger macro warnings whenever the spreadsheet is opened

Please make it possible to create simple forms in calc that can be send
afterwards for completion to users, and where nothing more complex is expected
than seeing what the user selected when he sends the document back.

Thanks for attachment. Alas, I do not know how fix this problem.
As temporary solution, You can use this Basic macro:

Sub SetPageSizeLetter()
Dim oDoc as Object
oDoc = ThisComponent
oStyle = oDoc.StyleFamilies.getByName(PageStyles).getByName(Default)
' units of 1/1000 cm
oStyle.Width = 21590
oStyle.Height = 27940
End Sub

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 40787] FILEOPEN:Libreoffice shows text in footer that is hidden in Word by the way it handles superflouus tabs in the text

2012-03-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40787

--- Comment #8 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-03-02 01:58:07 PST ---
(In reply to comment #6)
 I opened the FooterA.doc and B in Word 2010.
With some effort, you can see that there is some mal-formed content.
A line with some fields at the end, hidden because Word allows (there?) to
 move
content out of the margin, out of the view.
LibreOffice shows that, so indeed is not compatible here. I doubt if we want
 to
 be / can be.

I have to agree. Instead of just speaking of a bug, we need to clarify first if
we really want LibreOffice to mimic MS Office in every respect, even when it
does such strange stuff like moving contents out of view into an invisible
margin area (something which a mentally normal user will only do by accident,
like obviously in the sample document). At least, we should not “hide” such
out-of-the-margin text in any case, but add/use a compatibility option ...

IIRC, there was a similar question about Word moving text into the margin some
time ago, but I can’t find it for now … Can someone else find it?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46881] New: FILEOPEN: Object Area For AutoLayouts doesn't respect set height

2012-03-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Bug #: 46881
Summary: FILEOPEN: Object Area For AutoLayouts doesn't respect
set height
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.3.0 Beta2
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Presentation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: sleeping.pil...@gmail.com

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Impress
2. Go to View - Master - Slide Master
3. Select the Object Area For AutoLayouts and increase or decrease the height
of the area.
4. Save the file and close
5. Reopen and go back to the Slide Master

Current behavior:
The height has returned to it's original size.

Expected behavior:
The height you'd set should have been remembered.

Extra info:
I set this to an file open-issue because when you save the file the height of
the area gets saved to the odp (or otp). You can check this by opening the file
in Lotus Symphony or unzip the odp and check the styles.xml (try searching for
presentation:class=outline) you should be able to see that the svg:height is
set to your specified height. This indicates that the problem occurs when the
file is loaded.

Oh, and this is an issue that is inherited from OOo.

Platform (if different from the browser):
Seen it on Mac and Linux as well so it isn't a platform issue.

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:9.0.1) Gecko/20100101

The python init seems to take under 0.2 of a second.

And then we start doing crazy Java stuff again - endless parsing of
/proc/self/maps as we attach / detach that stuff.

So - this is a known bug; bootstrapping Java LanguageTool takes ~nearly
forever :-) and there is really not much we can do about that (sadly).

Yea, that reinstalls version 3.4, this bug is about version 3.5.

No, it actually reinstalled 3.5. I've actually noticed that this helped only
for calc, writer still shows different for new text document, but this icon is
working, for example when there are more than one text files they're stacked it
that icon so you can use them. Still the preinstalled writer icon in launcher
only launches documents. The same goes if you use main app libre office, when
you choose text document it spawns a new icon, but like i mentionet before
it's usable. anyway I thing that this still is a bug.

Sorry, you're right: the attached ODT file being empty makes sense, as I get
Writer crash as soon as I paste the text in it (so Writer can't have saved it
yet). The farsi characters must be in the recovery data since every time I
tried to restart Writer after that crash, it tries (and succeeds) to recover
the file, but fails to open it and saves recovery data again.

Since I could not find where the LibO recovery data are on my disk, I tried to
make a complete, but as simple as possible scenario. And I'm afraid you won't
be able to reproduce it on any machine but a Windows one, as it clearly relies
on the Operating System clipboard (my machine is running under Windows XP Pro
SP3, if it is of any help).

Here is the scenario:
- Start CLIPBRD.EXE, which is the standard Windows clipboard utility
viewer/saver, using Start/Run... on the Start menu (then ignore the error
message saying Album service is not started: we don't need it).
- In the clipboard utility, open the attached file LibOWriter_CrashText.CLP
- Then start LibO/Writer with an empty document.
- Paste text.
Then LibO/Writer should crash.

@Michael Stahl: Ok, disregard the bibisect. This fun thing is a Mandelbug. It
crashes sometimes with both the oldest and the latest version in bibisect, so
the root cause is older than the oldest version in bibisect35. In seems to
crash less in the latest version in bibisect (which is libreoffice-3-5
branchoff).

Indeed I could _not_ reproduce a crasher with a
fcba36f1093935b9bbf0735661bb8e5b4f5a8671 build on master. So if anyone you
reproduce it on a recent master or -3-5 build, a stacktrace would be most
welcome.

Hmm, nobody else is able to reproduce this. It must be somehow related to your
particular setup. Such bugs can't block the release = lowering severity a bit.

I am not sure if we could do anything about it at all.

I suggest to try new version 3.4.5 or 3.5.0.

MSO VBA can contain unmatched Sub or End Sub statements, these don't cause a
clever compiler any problems if those procedures involved are never referenced
or called. Unfortunately the Libreoffice basic compiler is quite dumb and it
falls over any imported vba containing such strays.

I have also confirmed that the installed English dictionary in

appears to be correct. However, I still get bad spellcheck results for English
which actually correspond to the spellcheck suggestions to Aragonese.
