Sample Document.

Steps how to reproduce with "LibreOffice 3.5.1.2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID:
dc9775d-05ecbee-0851ad3-1586698-727bf66] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit);

1. open attached "sample.ods"
2.select sheet "Wochenübersicht"
  > Chart visible , X-axis "Monday 0:10" ... "Sonntag 16:10"
(or similar), correct with day + time information
3. double click chart
   Expected: no chagnes
   Actual: X-axis values now shown as 2,01 ... 8,86
   (or similar)

That problem is related to x-axis value calculation, the problem disappears
when I copy / paste special x-axis values with "all except formula".

This sounds very similar to "Bug 43467 - axis number FORMATTING not taken
automatically from cells with calculated value", but with the sample document
in that bug the problem of that bug does no longer appear with 3.5.1.

I failed to reproduce the problem with a simple new document.

Thank you for your report – unfortunately important information is missing.
May be hints on will help you to
find out what information will be useful to reproduce your problem? If you
believe that that is really sophisticated please as for Help on a user mailing

Please:
- Write a meaningful Summary describing exactly what the problem is
- Attach a test kit with sample documents (not only screenshot)

Problem description: Linespacing not saving.

Steps to reproduce: No idea. Does not affect all documents, even on this

Current behavior: Line spacing in documents set in LibreOffice rtf files is
not saved. On opening a LibreOffice created rtf, line spacing reverts from
"Single" (expected) to "Fixed .18cm" (unexpected) creating overlapping text.

Expected behavior: Line spacing choice is saved

ReportedBy: phrostbh...@gmail.com

This applies to all components of LibreOffice 3.4 on Kubuntu 11.10 after a
clean install. After clicking a launcher from the launch menu or typing the
command `libreoffice --component [%u]` the splash screen briefly displays,
after which the application window is shown for < 1 second and then disappears.
The application process stops and disappears as well.

After trying the same component, the crash retrieval window displays offering
to restore the blank document that was open when it crashed, but once I click
on restore or cancel the application terminates as before.

I've googled this several times with varying search strings and found others
with similar bugs, but their problems were either solved by running the command
from bash or weren't solved yet.

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: ahirosh...@ashisuto.co.jp

As far as my understanding goes, "Suppress output of empty pages" option
supposed to exclude empty pages from being printed out when this option is
enabled.

And as it is stated in the help menu; "Specifies that empty pages that have no
cell contents or draw objects are not printed. Cell attributes such as borders
or background colors are not considered cell contents. Empty pages are not
counted for page numbering."

Therefore, if a page has no data, or objects, that page is considered "Empty"
and will not be printed disregard the border settings.

However, if a page that contains empty cells with only cell borders are
included
within a print range, that empty page gets printed out.

I did have 3.4.1 before removing it to install 3.5.0, so it could indeed be
caused by some previous version before I got the computer. It just wasn't
possible to prove it being the case, but such a scenario could of course be
plausible. Can't answer for the user in question, but he did mention something
about the spellchecker failing in several versions, so he might have
experienced anomalies.

Correct - it does not update automatically, you must refresh or update record
to get the totals - however that is where the delay is, the totals take a bit
of time to refresh when updating or moving forward/reverse through the records.
This problem showed up after 3.4.5 versions and while I can work around it,
when I am shakin' at work, it's very frustrating, so I revert to 3.4.5

This sounds like it should be fixed by the same fix for bug #46038, i.e. to fix
that bug we don't include the "page styles" in the temp document we use to
generate the rtf from, and this bug sounds like that the rtf import part of the
paste into calc doesn't understand the "header text in page styles" stuff,
which isn't surprising as that's an illadvised extension to rtf.

If I'm wrong, and this is still reproducible with 3.5.1, reopen and assign it
to me.

Could not reproduce on my build from master from Monday. However, the total
field on the Invoice form does not update automatically for me, I have to force
the update by either going to the next record or clicking on the update icon.

I also notice a very annoying flickering as I move the mouse across the form,
but that is probably a separate issue.

This bug is NOT a duplicate of bug 36677. This bug is *caused* by that bug
which has been fixed in 3.5, but THIS bug is NOT fixed in 3.5: it continues to
be a problem in 3.5 due to the other bug not having yet been fixed in previous
versions. The comments in THAT bug would seem to suggest that THIS bug cannot
be fixed.

If your software uses a component, and that component has a bug, then your
software has a bug! The 3.4 uninstaller (when that is installed) is essentially
being used as a component by the 3.5 installer.

Simply from a practical standpoint, you don't want users not to be able to find
this issue because they are searching for an issue that are having with 3.5 and
you closing 3.5 issues for this as duplicate or fixed.

hmm, after some debugging it seems binaryurp.uno.dll fails to load, no real
info I could see in osl_loadModule either, just no handle returned ( and path
is good ) I don't have the windows smarts to detect where else to look for
errors
Tried running it in the VS debugger I see that there is nag dialog complaining
about msvcp90.dll not being found ( at the point it tries to load
binaryurp.uno.dll ). I'm not being familiar with windows but I do know that
there are certain security whatnots around loading runtimes etc. I notice that
there is a soffice.bin.manifest that contains some dependecy/dependentAssembly
nodes relating to this runtime. In fact when I copied the soffice.bin.manifest
to csharptestclient.exe.manifest ( to match the csharpclient.exe I was using to
test this bug ) it works fine. Perhaps there is a similar solution for some of
the .net bridge dll(s) that might get over this problem

Creating such a manifest might be a usable workaround? until a better solution

the spreadsheet file - copy formula col D

I created a formula and tried to copy it down - program crashes every time. The
formula is:
=VALUE(LEFT(C10,FIND(" ",C10)-1))*VLOOKUP(RIGHT(C10,LEN(C10)-FIND("
",C10)),cnvt,2)
If I leave off the *VLOOKUP..., it copies down O.K. It also works O.K. if I
copy/paste one or multiple cells.

Try to move the graphic in the report over another field.

One field in a report for a data-column and one graphic. In older versions you
could move the graphoc over a filed an set it in the background of the filed.
So you can get lines and colours around a field.
In 3.5.1 RC1 LibreOffices crashes immediately.

a) Strangely enough, it also works for me on Windows 7 now. To add to the
mystery the user bought a new computer with the same version of Windows as
mine, and LibreOffice worked out of the box. But to answer your question, yes
it did.

b) The Norwegian spellchecker was finally added to the OpenOffice.org codebase
back in 2009 after much pressure, so it haven't been a problem since then.

Anyway, as an final resort, I asked the user to run one of these registry
cleaners. Still no answer though.

This is an "Easy" Hack for somebody who likes more advanced hacking ;-)

When you open a document that is already open by a different user, you get a
warning like "Document file '$(ARG1)' is locked for editing by:" (see
STR_OPENLOCKED_MSG in uui/source/openlocked.src). You have the choice to open
it read-only, or a copy. In case of opening it read-only, it would be great to
get a notification when the document has been closed by the other person again.

The dialog is effectively created in sfx2/source/doc/docfile.cxx,
SfxMedium::ShowLockedDocumentDialog(). In the case that it is opened
read-only, you should trigger a thread that will wake up every minute, and
check for the presence of the lock file. If the lock file disappeared, it
should create a notification dialog that the file is not in use any more; if
possible, with an offer a reload of the file.

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open or create a document.
2. Write and edit your document.
3. Try not to be distracted by the popups.

Current behavior:
Popup UI is distracting.

Expected behavior:
If I want to make a change I will make it.
This is open-sources's bane: adding me-too features without proper
deliberation. Many writers will be annoyed by the UI pop-up widgets.

Further research seems to show that there is a separate setting for those
documents created after assistant step 6. This setting seems to be valid for
all mail merge processes until it will have been modified for such a document
in it's printer settings.

Can someone do some further research with 3 documents check how changes in
Comment 10 step 10 have influence to other mail merge from other source
documents? And how it works for mail merge from File dialog.

After final conclusion this might become an enhancement request that this
setting should follow setting in source document.

This is a feature of the KDE file dialog (I can reproduce the same problems

generic problem with the KDE libraries, you'll need to report the problem there
(http://bugs.kde.org).

thumbnail view. last file is the thumbnail inside the ODT's "thumbnails"
folder, as an example..

Upon file save, generates a thumbnail of a tiny cropped corner from the
upper-left of the first page, see attachment.
When ODT file is renamed to .zip and explored, inside the "thumbnails" folder,
the thumbnail generated is indeed incorrect. If deleted, and file reopened,
re-saved and left to re-generate the thumb, it will create the same incorrect,
cropped thumb.

I have reproduced this bug with 3.5 as well as 3.4

Is there *any* way to configure this differently? I'm about to copy a ton of
JPGs next to the corresponding ton of ODTs for sorting them out..

As the filenames suggest, this is handled by KDE libraries, and LO doesn't do
anything about it. You'll need to handle this in the KDE bugreport.

If trying to insert a picture that is taller than the page size minus the
padding, Writer tries to put the picture on the next page. As there is not
enough space either, the next page is tried, and so on (watchable through the
pagecount on the status bar). It ultimately crashes from memory exhaustion.

Rainer,

Thanks for looking into this. You're correct, I confirmed an unexpected result,
that may not be a bug.

If I take the step you outlined (turning off the "Print automatically inserted
empty pages" option), I get the expected result (for instance a 3-page PDF
file).

I agree with your conclusion. I see that "Print automatically inserted empty
pages" is enabled under Settings > LO Writer > Print.

However, I found nothing in the page format settings for the original form
letter (which is basically an unformatted page) to indicate that it was a
"right" or "left" page (thus justifying the empty inserted pages). Maybe I'm
not clear on the reasoning behind inserting the empty pages in this case.

Thanks again,

Date: Wed Feb 22 15:41:27 2012 -0500

Mail program: thunderbird 6.0 on linux mint 11

Still reproducible here with:
1) write "test doc" in a new doc in writer and send as email attachment
2) close writer (and maybe rest of LO windows?)
3) try opening the attachment in the compose mail. No luck, since the temp file
was deleted when closing LO (I ASSume)

Should this be a thunderbird bug? That thunderbird should cache the attachment?
I could agree to that if it's the intended design.

Could be a good idea to cache anything handed to thunderbird from /tmp/ anyway.

I have had this problem for a long time with OpenOffice (as far as I remember)
and LibreOffice, various versions up to and including 3.5.0, under Microsoft
Windows 7/32 (possibly XP too). Basically, I can either copy almost any web
page into LibreOffice, or enter the URL of one as the filename in LibreOffice
Writer. The web page will appear, and some editing can be started, but soon
LibreOffice abends. Probably the same as
http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.documentfoundation.libreoffice.user/17196
During the time I have been having this problem I have uninstalled and
reinstalled Open/LibreOffice to no avail.

After the abend LibreOffice Writer will sometimes not run again; Windows task
Manager shows it as running (though with no display). Killing all running
instances of Writer allows normal operation again.

I report what I find; it may affect other components than Writer and for other
operating systems.

Possibly related bugs I've found: 690796, 39865

ok, I see your point, I just don't think about parallel install since I use
windows so infrequently. It is still confusing I guess because sure some people
will install the dev-builds and find that some things like this don't work ). I
wonder can you as easily force the installer to delete those registry items ( I

Sorry I can't help here, I'm not familiar at all with hyphenation. Judging from
the copied comments #17 and #18 above I'd say that in Writer and EditEngine
(that use the result of SvxGetAltSpelling()) the correct character changes
would have to be implemented. So I think best would be some Writer developer.

In the attached testcase, trying to change the Y position of the first comment
to 6,25 cm, makes the arrow pointing to the commented cell move to the document
origin (sometimes there are even weirder effects, the comment flies to another
place in the document)

Specifying a comment position should not change the place its arrow points to
and the comment should be placed at the position the user requested

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47050] New: [FORMATTING, PRINTING] Comments

2012-03-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon

   Summary: [FORMATTING, PRINTING] Comments
Classification: Unclassified

  Platform: Other

  Severity: normal

Comments are here to help people fill spreadsheets and usually should not be
printed

1. The user should not have to hide comments manually before printing
2. They should not print by default
3. Comment artifacts (arrow parts) should not bleed in printed cells when the
comment itself is situated outside the print zone
4. it should be easy to toggle the print status of comments for a whole
document

Excel 2007 does it right : calc forms are printed without arrow bits

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47049] New: Minimized document then opened from explorer does not restore

2012-03-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47049

 Bug #: 47049
Summary: Minimized document then opened from explorer does not
restore
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 Release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: c...@forus.com

In windows (tested Win XPsp3, clean install LibraOffice 3.5.0r3):

1. Open a LibreOffice document (brand new trivial document).
2. Minimize the document to the task bar.
3. Open the same document again from windows Explorer.
4. User experience is that nothing happens.

Expectation: the opened document should "restore" from the task bar - otherwise
most any user will think the "open" did not work.

Core issue: My original test was with LibreOffice "Writer", but I also
confirmed "Calc" and so I suspect this is a core library issue and thus
reported it as just LibreOffice, without citing a component.

This issue was brought to my attention helping a relatively novice user who
repeatedly assumed "the document was broken", when in fact it was simply
already open. This seems like an important "real world" issue that likely
confuses very many users, especially with open documents "group" stacked on the
task bar, and thus important to user acceptance and use of the product.

Note: this was originally noted on a Windows 7 system. When I was unable to
find any related item in Bugzilla, I downloaded the current release LibraOffice
3.5.0r3 and installed on a few week old fresh Windows XPsp3 build. I found the
issue to be 100% reproducible. Please do not hesitate to contact me if someone
looking into this does not find it repeatable, and I will be happy to dig
deeper.

@julien: Correct, we certainly can manually fix documents...but we have
hundreds of thousands of documents and the users won't know how to fix them.
These documents were all built with OpenOffice 1, 2 and then 3 and we are
testing Libre as part of a migration plan.

When you add a comment in calc, an arrow points to the original cell.

However the arrow point is not properly attached to the cell corner, calc is
attaching a point between the arrow and its shadow instead of considering only
the arrow itself for attachment.

This is especially ugly and visible at big arrow/shadow sizes

In the attached testcase, paragraph spacing is not ptoperly exported to xls,
and as a result the end of the comment is hidden in Excel 2007

(paragraph spacing in calc is 0, excel interprets it as 0,1mm)
