Hello

(In reply to comment #5)
I am tending to mar this one as NOTABUG

+1

This case should perhaps be explicitly specified in the help but if so ... to
all functions that manipulate dates (DAY, EDATE, YEAR ...)

Regards
Pierre-Yves

Could you please try out LibreOffice Version 3.5.x, as the 3.4 codeline will
not receive any more fixes. Note that you have to upgrade to 3.4.5 first before
installing a 3.5.x package (else Upgrading will fail).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49164] New: EDITING: Copied text gets not pasted

2012-04-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49164

 Bug #: 49164
Summary: EDITING: Copied text gets not pasted
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.2 Release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: gherardo.caru...@gmail.com

Problem description:
When copying and pasting from web sites or pdf files the process is generally
slow (while the same process works fine in openoffice, if matters).
Small portion of text copied from web pages are pasted in the wrong position.
Large portion of text (those I tried where inside a table) are not pasted at
all, after few seconds of loading (both processes work fine if done in
Openoffice, again if this helps).
If it matters, experimental features are turned on (needed for macros)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Copy some text from a web site or a PDF, better if long and inside a table
2. Paste it
3. The text won't show.

Current behavior:
text is not pasted

Expected behavior:
text should be pasted

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major

ReportedBy: eric.vale...@free.fr

The bug has been initially filled to cairo
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49118

But after careful analysis, it happens that libreoffice creates surface of 0x0
size which is forbidden in the specs (Xlib requires at least 1x1) and correct
the size before displaying it.

Unfortunately, a change in cairo to be complaint with the specs breaks
libreoffice slideshow. There are now a good dozen of bugs in debian and until
cairo 12.1 is available, it could be wyse to fix in in 3.5.3.

In the link above you have a full backtrace that exhibits the call path for the
0x0 size

I tried valgrind as in comment 9, but the callgrind.out. is
empty (0 bytes) after exit libo. Am I missing something?

Thanks for trying that ! you're sure you used 'soffice.bin' and not 'soffice' ?
do you have write access to the directory that soffice.bin is in (prolly best
to give that to yourself and run it from there).

Also - you need to ensure no other soffice.bin is running or the factory
behaviour will defeat you so perhaps 'pkill -9 -f soffice' beforehand (?).

What else ? Can you run './soffice.bin' successfully yourself without valgrind
? if not perhaps we need to run 'soffice' with --trace-children=yes as another
argument to valgrind.

Thanks so much for trying to get a trace !

This problem reproducible not only with rotated text. If we use Context
menu-Format cells, tab Alignment, field Shrink to fit cell size on bottom,
problem also appears.

If text has typographic errors and Spellcheck enabled, problem becomes even
worse. Spellcheck context menu appears in wrong place.

Inexperienced users often update the version field in bugzilla when they find a
bug is also present in a newer version. This is incorrect as the version field
should show the first version were the error occurred. QA members waste a lot
of time writing bulk statements asking the changer to confirm his choice to be
intentional. It would be great to have a bot that posts something alone the
lines of:
Dear $changemaker, you changed the version field of this bug to a newer
version. Please be advised that the version field of a bug should show the
oldest version were the issue is found, not the newest (see $wikilink for
details). Please recheck your change and revert it unless the bug was indeed
not present in the old version specified before your change.
as a comment everytime somebody changes the version field to something newer.

The corresponding commit [1] allowing such “illegal” behavior is already
 committed the Cairo repository.

However, cairo maintainer indicated that while he agrees that the cairo
behavior did change, he thinks that creating 0x0 surface still should not be
allowing as it not allowed in X protocol. He is the comment in the patch

/* Note: the minimum surface size allowed in the X protocol is 1x1.
 * However, as we historically did not check the minimum size we
 * allowed applications to lie and set the correct size later (one hopes).
 * To preserve compatability we must allow applications to use

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48732] Hebrew Nikud still not represented properly

I also have problems with pointed Hebrew inserted in LTR text (French or
English or Italian) - quite often it's correct on screen but bugged on printing
and PDF exporting (but OK on .ps printing !)

I've opened your file on my computer and it's OK, cf screenshot. As far as I
understand from your screenshot, you're running Win XP. I've read that XP,
Vista and Seven use different versions of Uniscribe, the Microsoft DLL used for
rendering complex uniscribe text. Maybe the bug is related to the way
LibreOffice talks with the Uniscribe DLL.

Erwan,

I also have problems with pointed Hebrew inserted in LTR text (French or
English or Italian) - quite often it's correct on screen but bugged on
 printing
and PDF exporting (but OK on .ps printing !)

Yes, I too have noticed significant issues with printing from both OO and LO
in a Windows environment in exactly the way you describe. In my case, it is
usually with numbered lists: on-screen they look fine, but are always mis-
spaced on printing directly but are usually correct with PDF export.

I've opened your file on my computer and it's OK, cf screenshot. As far as I
understand from your screenshot, you're running Win XP. I've read that XP,
Vista and Seven use different versions of Uniscribe, the Microsoft DLL used
 for
rendering complex uniscribe text. Maybe the bug is related to the way
LibreOffice talks with the Uniscribe DLL.

Yes, I confirm that the text is exactly right on your screenshot. Sadly,
since I am stuck with the Win XP laptop, I still need a fix for this ...

Jonathan

It is true that embedding OLE objects feature (more precisely the needed
registry settings) was bound to the ActiveX component that we don't install by
default, but in fact it is not necessary to have that ActiveX component for OLE
embedding.

I'm not sure what problems can occur, if I enable those registry settings
unconditionally. Please test.

Ah yes, looks like it. Too bad noone mentioned the actual 'Write Error' message
anywhere in that bug, otherwise I would have found it when searching and not
wasted a lot of time diagnosing and reporting the problem :-(

I'll try to check with 3.5.x soon.

OK, it happens if I try to select all languages at once (This feature, and
 all
subfeatures, will be installed on local hard drive.) while the installer is
still slowly compiling the cost for that feature.

I cannot reproduce it, maybe my computer is too fast, and I cannot click
quickly enough to trigger the crash. Nevertheless, it is not something that we
can fix.

--- Comment #17 from Michael Meeks michael.me...@novell.com 2012-04-26

The patch fixes the N^2 in the insert/sort - unfortunately that only saves
around 1/2 the time - the rest seems to be some diffuse wasteage of a
reasonably normal and fairly unbelievable kind (harder to fix).

This takes me down from 1200ms to load the list to 700ms or so - which should
be better. Give it some testing, and if you're happy I'll get some review /
cherry-picking action to -3-5.

Ultimately this code needs a re-write to use STL anyway so ... :-) I'd prefer
to wait for / encourage that: perhaps adding this specific instance of:

editeng/source/misc/svxacorr.cxx and it's 'SvxAutocorrWordList' to the STL
porting EasyHack might help if you'd like to dig that out.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38639] DOCX: section change with different header/footer settings not regarded

2012-04-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38639

--- Comment #4 from Niklas Johansson sleeping.pil...@gmail.com 2012-04-26
05:33:16 PDT ---
Reproduced with LibreOffice 3.5.2. Some extra info:

The footers in page 2, 3, 4 gets exported into a page style called Converted1.
The problem is it never gets used.

The first page has a continuous section break followed by a simple page break.
As far as I know Writer don't really have a equivalent for the continuous
section break. If a continuous section break appears in a document the next
page might include a new header/footer which may or may not be linked with the
previous header. If it would have been a next page section break then every
thing would have worked as expected.

I suppose this will be hard to fix without introducing an equivalent to
continuous section break.

I will attach a PDF created by Word 2010 so people without Word can see how it
is supposed to look.

PS. I did a short test converting this file to odt using Word 2010, let's say
that it gave some interesting results.

In 3.5.2 still exist. IMHO it is enhancement request, because no variant
between not including, therefore impossible to confuse with something.
In help nothing about including values. But we can easily determine this by
experiment.

I add some Windows hackers into CC. They might be able to check the file from
Precess monitor.

Wyndham, do you have installed any extensions that do not come from the LO
installer, please?

Could you please try to run the application with default user configuration?
   * make sure that soffice.bin is not in task manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL)
   * rename C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application
Data\LibreOffice\3
(note that it is hidden directory)
   * run LO again

It works for other people, so it happens only with some strange circumstances.
We will do our best to help you. On the other hand, it can't block the release
of other useful fixes = lowering the severity a bit.

Problem with saving big file with Writer reproducible in 3.5.2 and 3.3.4 on
Fedora 64 bit. File 84,6 Mb size, contains 43 pages with pictures from scanner.
Writer hangs consuming much CPU resources.

Workaround: split document to several more small documents. May be possible
create one master document and include to there those small document and then
export to PDF as one document. Try also reduce resolution of images during
export to PDF.

Can you please upload test file?
No. At least to this site. File too big.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48885] FILEOPEN - Importing PPT 2007 Grouped Objects loses Solid Colour Fill when fill applied to group

2012-04-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48885

--- Comment #1 from Mark mark.d...@oracle.com 2012-04-26 07:51:40 PDT ---
If you open a PPT 2007 pptx with a grouped object (in this case a rectangle
with two embeddedd text boxes , but it could be any grouped object), if a solid
fill with colour is applied to the object, the colour is lost when importing
into Impress. If you select the object and look at Area this has Fill as None

If I have the same grouped object (rectangle with two embedded text boxes) and
with colour applied to the embedded text boxes, the colour is correctly
imported into Impress.

If I apply a colour fill to a text box and the apply colour, this imports
correctly into Impress.

So, single slide reproducer works correctly in PPT 2007, and imports colour
correctly into Impress with with colour applied to:

- textbox
- colour applied to two text boxes within a grouped object

But is not imported correctly when colour is applied to the grouped object.
You can apply the colour manually within LibreOffice as follows:

Select grouped object / Area / Colour Fill

open or create a 2 page long document and assign a color to header;
unset the Same content left/right option;
change the header background color;

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49174] New: fuzzy output on paper, but clear output printing after exported to PDF

2012-04-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49174

 Bug #: 49174
Summary: fuzzy output on paper, but clear output printing after
exported to PDF
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.2 Release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: jusfi...@att.net

Created attachment 60616
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=60616
photo of printed output from Lib0 .odt file

When LibreOffice is used to print output onto paper. the result is fuzzy.
Normal text appears similar to bolded text, except it is disturbingly rough
along the edges. See the first attached image for an example (scale on left is
mm / cm).

I had thought this problem must arise from the printer driver, but I have
observed that on the same computer, using the same printer driver, etc. that
clean and sharp output can be obtained. In LibreOffice while viewing the same
text file with no change in font or any other formatting, select File,
Export as PDF Use a PDF viewer such as Evince to open the resulting
file, and render the same file onto paper using the same print driver, printer,
etc. See the second attached image for an example of the fine clear sharp
output one would expect to always see.

The magic is not in the conversion to PDF format, for if one uses LibreOffice
Draw to view and print the PDF, the result is just as crudely fuzzy as when
Writer printed the original .odt file.

This problem was first observed on earlier releases such as:
  LibreOffice 3.3.4
and has been reproduced with:
  LibreOffice 3.5.2.2
  Build ID: 281b639-6baa1d3-ef66a77-d866f25-f36d45

What can I do to assist LibO to produce respectable-quality output on paper
directly, without having to detour through a file format conversion and use of
another application?

Here is the description:

To reproduce, create a PPT 2007 pptx, add a slide, add a text box, Custom
Animations, Add exit effect floy out, Add entrance effect fly in.

The reproducer shows:

TextBox with Two animation effects applied (Exit Flyout and Entrance Flyin)

In PPT, Open, Slideshow, slide appears showing Text Box, hit next
First Effect- Text Box Exits (fly out), hit next
Second Effect – Text Box Entrance (fly in)

In Impress, Open, Slideshow, slide appears not showing Text Box, hit next
First Effect - Nothing happens – Text Box is not visible, hit next
Second Effect - TextBox Entrance (fly in)

I reproduced this bug in versions from 3.4.3 to 3.5.2 on Ubuntu 11.04 x86_64.
After editing and undoing in large modules it's code converts to garbage. So, I
change from Windows(All) to All.

Please help me because I can not use Undo feature and must remember-retype a
code manually.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49176] New: Writer: Custom Document Information, Conditions and Variables

2012-04-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49176

 Bug #: 49176
Summary: Writer: Custom Document Information, Conditions and
Variables
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.2 Release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Documentation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: jab.mail.busin...@gmail.com

Problem description:

The Writer Guide (v3.3) page 377 appears to incorrectly indicate that custom
document information provided in the document properties can be used as a
variable to trigger conditional events.

The online help section conditions;in fields and sections gives no indication
that this is possible and writer does not appear to recognize the document
information fields regardless of formatting.

For additional information please see this unresolved Ask LibreOffice question:

http://ask.libreoffice.org/question/970/how-can-i-access-a-custom-document-property-in-a

Current behavior: The Writer Guide describes behavior that is not available in
writer.

Expected behavior: Ideally this feature would actually be available in writer
but if it is not the Writer Guide should be corrected.

Platform (if different from the browser): X11; Linux i686

Browser: Chrome/18.0.1025.151
