[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51395] Unable to spell-check or hyphenate German, although dictionary and langugage pack installed

My installation (Windows/XP, just in case it matters) was done as
Administrator, but the problem occurred for a different user without
administrative rights (a common scenario IMHO). The bundled directory for
that user had a timestamp file and a database file. While that timestamp file
had the date of installation (or first start after installation), the database
file seemed untouched.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51523] EDITING: Database Format TIME [HH]:MM:SS not working

--- Comment #10 from Alex Thurgood ipla...@yahoo.co.uk 2012-06-29 01:25:15
UTC ---
(In reply to comment #8)

Hi,

Next step is creating a Form (FormTIME) based on the table. I used the form
wizzard with default settings. And then i made a change in the format of the
last field. I changed it in [HH]:MM:SS. The result is that it displays the
duration now correctly. But the problem is that i can't change the value of
 the
field in the form because than it starts acting as HH:MM:SS and i get a
 failure
 message java.lang.NumberFormatExeption.

For this particular one, have you tried unsetting (in the form's general
properties, I think, but don't remember exactly), whereby the form control
formatting overrides data input ? That might allow you to enter the value you
want and be taken up in the db. I haven't tried this by the way, so can't
guarantee it will work.

I'm glad this issue is solved for windows and linux user! :-)

But as a Mac user I hope this issue stays on the hot list because it prevents
me to use and promote this software at my clients.
As a submitter of one of the originals of this bug (Bug 41321) some years ago I
already said that a solution of an issue like this is much more important for
the growth of LibreOffice than some fancy new stuff.

The basic stuff should first work to enable the adaptation of LibreOffice in
far more professional organizations.

I absolutely do not want to be rude - I know that all the work is done by
volunteers - but just for the real break through of LibreOffice it is important
to focus on simple issues like this.

I'm not an IT specialist but as a Mac user of course I want to test solutions!

Good luck!

valgrind on dualcore intel, 4 GB RAM, OpenSUSE 11.4

I installed LO 3.6 beta from repository
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/pmladek:/LibreOffice:/3.6 into
OpenSUSE 11.4. My first knowledges:
It is much more better, then 3.5 - working with nearly 1000 pages document
(with exception of starting of editing - see later) is relatively OK. But some
navigation and editing operation are 'rather' delayed - not more than ~0,25s.
It is much better, than with 3.5.3.
Valgrind - see file

Delay after opening document:
After opening a big document, LO some time (less then ~10 sec.) reacts to
keyboard corectly. But after it there is a delay about ~10-15 sec. After delay
it shows the whole inserted text.

More detailed info.

Screenshot shows 2 options, that have to be set accordingly to be able to
reproduce the bug. Another convinience is to associate ms-office documents to
be opened in libre office when installing libre.
After that, you should simply reply the procedures seen in the previously
published video capture.
In words:
- Create folder C:\1
- Put two .doc (ms-word) documents into the folder named 'first.doc' and
'second.doc'. Nothing else should be in.
- Open the first.doc (by double-clicking it) in libre office
- Make some changes to the document
- Press ctrl+s
- The 'confirm file format' dialog pops-up (third window in the attached
image). Press the 'Use ODF Format' button
- Windows dialog window labeled 'Save as' pops up with the filename field
empty. And that's the bug. Now type 'anything' into the filename field and
click 'Save'
- The 'anything.odt' file is created in the C:\1 folder
- Close the libre office program
- Now open the 'second.doc' in libre office.
- Make some changes to the document
- Press ctrl+s
- The 'confirm file format' dialog pops-up. Press the 'Use ODF Format' button
- Windows dialog window labeled 'Save as' pops up with the filename field now
pre-filled with selected text stating 'second'. That's how it should have been
the first time. Now, when at least one .odt file with any given filename exists
in the C:\1 folder thiings are how they should be.

I can't imagine how to do this howto with any more details. I was very
surprised, that reproducing this gave you all so much headache.

Original ODT file

LibO 3.5.3.2, Ubuntu Linux amd64

The attached .odt file contains 2 embedded spreadsheets.

1) Saving the file, as .docx, Windows Office 2010 fails to display the objects
(they are simply gone)

2) Saving the .odt as .doc it opens just fine in Office 2010, showing the
tables as Excel 97 objects.

3) Opening the .odt directly in WinWord simply displays a struck out box (big
fat red cross) where the table object would be.

Not sure, if we fail to produce valid .docx, or if WinWord fails here

These bugs are more or less marked by the See Also URL.
There still are some licensing issues, but it's planned to try to benefit from
the AOOo fixes. I am in contact with Michael Meeks concerning further
proceeding, when there is a solution I will post it on QA mailing list.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51552] New: rowheight not honored when zoom factor change

2012-06-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51552

 Bug #: 51552
Summary: rowheight not honored when zoom factor change
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: lgodard.li...@laposte.net

Created attachment 63598
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=63598
zoom 80% problem

changing the zoom factor in a calc sheet
the cells are with automatic rowheight

shoot1.pdf shows that at 80% (low right corner), row 17 is not recalculated
correctly regarding height (one can see the red triangle)

shoot2.pdf shows the same sheet at 85%. the problem disapears (but happens on
some other rows out the screenchot)

so the problem depends for each row on the zoom value that is set

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51554] New: Data loss risk referencing slides from external impress presentation (Menu Insert - File, selecting link)

2012-06-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51554

 Bug #: 51554
Summary: Data loss risk referencing slides from external
impress presentation (Menu Insert - File, selecting
link)
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.0.0.beta2
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: critical
  Priority: medium
 Component: Presentation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: sean.car...@gmail.com

Impress offers a way to include a slide from a separate odp
presentation, using the menu option Insert - File. Choosing the
Link option during the slide importation allows you to update the
included slide should the original slide undergo changes. Very
nice.

There appears to be a problem with the implementation, however. There
doesn't seem to be any way to visually know that a slide depends on
(is linked to) an external master slide. So a user could / will
unknowing make changes to a slide and then proceed to overwrite these
changes the next time they open the Impress slide set by accepting the
update linked slides prompt.

This likely scenario leads to data loss.

I'd suggest that a visual clue be added to show a slide that is linked to
an external slide (I suspect that implementation cannot be too
difficult).

Ideally, the clue would indicate the file containing the linked slide and
updates to a linked slide would propagate back to the external master slide or,
probably safer, the linked slide would be read-only.

However, problem #2, backward tabbing of mixed Thai-English text strings, are
found in new area not reported before, such as drop-down menu and various
pop-up windows. See the second attachment dated 2012-06-29.

Saved by LibO 3.5.3.2, objects are lost in WinWord

Notice how the saved .docx shrinks in size (41k vs 6k vs 34k), compared to both
the original .odt and the saved .doc file. So it seems, the objects are really
not included in the save-as-docx file.

Why do you have these function names localized in the first place? These are
not core functions, but addin functions. AFAIK they are not localized in
Microsoft Excel (Analysis Toolpak).

I cc Kohei, who developed the 'use English function names' feature, just in

By writing to a too small loopback file system I can confirm that LibreOffice
sticks up a failed to write dialog anyway, so failures to write appear to be
reported and not silently ignored. So I got nothing :-)

Would be interesting to see if it can be reproduced on saving to a local file
system, to rule out that its bustage on the network file system with huge
documents. FWIW the sizes are reasonable in that each jpg is about 2 megs in
size and with 150+ of them then 300megs for the presentation is sane

These strings were introduced after the string freeze of LibreOffice 3.5. That
should not have happened. :( Or at least localizers should have been notified.

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?h=libreoffice-3-5-0id=716f0e2c10ab958a8ce4c22e78d726ac13491f5b

Fortunately this is not a very visible bug.

In LibreOffice 3.6 it will be translated. I've just checked, and it is
translated in German in 3.6 (in Pootle at least).

I'm not currently able to select the best answer for any question I've posted
on the Ask.LO site as I can't find the button in the web interface.

I posted the following question and got confirmation from another user that the
select button was missing:
http://ask.libreoffice.org/question/3617/how-do-i-mark-the-best-answer-to-my-question-on/

@tohuwawohu wrote:

---
This site had a short downtime last weekend to update the askbot software
(should fix the upload images bug, but didn't sadly). Since that downtime, the
button to accept an answer has disappeared.
---

This seems like a pretty bad bug, as it blocks the fundamental workflow of the
site and frustrates every new user who tries to follow instructions and mark
their questions as correctly answered. Given the disruption this bug causes,
I'm setting severity to 'critical'; feel free to triage into a new category as
appropriate.

Sure -- I don't think bumping it up would hurt :-)

I still think the big thing is that the ask.LO site just needs a lot of love.
It needs a 'captain' of sorts who is willing to spend some time writing a lot
of documentation, answering feedback from all of the people using the site, and
(important, important!) making sure that someone is tackling all of the bugs
present.

E.g. take a look at bug 51569. That's a critical flaw in the fundamental
workflow. We really need to get that fixed asap.

Where it says This method sets the color of all borders it should be This
method sets the color of all borders within the selection.

What is It?
And what ever it is, I currently do not believe that we need that addition.
Generally formatting (Character size ...) only will be done for the selection.

I disagree with the Final Comment 1 in A step by step graphic explaining
the bug report (great work, BTW!). These are completely different tools for
border formatting, and the different behavior is intended.

And now the subject is concerning something different from Comment 5

@Reporter:
Final Comment 2 is worth to be discussed, may be an icon line width for all
existing borders would be useful. I recommend to discuss that on
