https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52108 --- Comment #3 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-07-15 09:19:53 UTC --- Created attachment 64227 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=64227 MacOS X log created when I had to force-quit LibO 3.5.5 On MacOS X 10.6.8 (Intel), I can't reproduce the crash for now, neither with LibO 3.5.5.3 nor with 3.6.0.1, both with German langpack installed ... Especially the word count dialog works for me without any problems, opening it is even the fastest (!) thing I can do with this document. So the crash may be specific to LibO for Windows, and someone else should confirm this. But I can confirm that even selection a single word or moving the cursor is incredible slow with this document; it freezes for seconds or even minutes. After some selecting and de-selecting, I tried (for the 3rd time or so) to select something from the format menu, and this time LibO *froze* forever; I had to force-quit it. Attached you find the log file created by MacOS X for this quit (however, I don't think that it will help much). But this freeze confirms that there is really something wrong with handling such big documents, not only on Windows, but also on MacOS. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52113] New: Navigator must show the Hyperlinks embedded in TOC separately
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52113 Bug #: 52113 Summary: Navigator must show the Hyperlinks embedded in TOC separately Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: 3.6.0.1 rc Platform: Other OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: narayana...@hotmail.com The very purpose of the Navigator is to navigate in the document. The hyperlinks section in the Navigator is supposed to give you all manually inserted hyperlinks, so that you can check out the from-to relationships. However, this purpose is defeated because the Navigator mixes up a large number of hyperlinks from the TOC to the manually created hyperlinks. There is a difference between hyperlinks inserted in TOC and hyperlinks inserted in the rest of the document: * A typical TOC will be built from all Headings 1-3 of the document. These headings are already available from the Headings section of the Navigator. * In the rest of the document, hyperlinks are used for cross-referencing. They are NOT related to the structure of the document, and these hyperlinks are not available anywhere else. Desired solution: Please provide a separate node for hyperlinks belonging to a TOC. That would allow the user to focus on the other non-TOC hyperlinks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51989] PDF export performance decreased in 3.6, exponentially depending on file size
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51989 --- Comment #7 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-07-15 11:10:44 PDT --- Created attachment 64232 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=64232 Big book sample (3222 pp. .odt file in book typography, German, no images, graphics or tables, fonts included) Update: The decrease in PDF export performance does NOT (only) depend on images/graphics, it is measurable even with .odt files containing formatted text only, and it does depend exponentially on the .odt file size (count of pages, etc.): when you export a big .odt file to PDF, you will notice an even bigger decrease of performance. Test: To test with a real text sample (I am a bit distrustful about the value of tests with mere placeholder texts), I created a 3222 pp. .odt sample file in book typography -- no images, no graphics, no tables, only much German text, some nice formatting with a bit of color, using (semi-)professional fonts and styles. (If you wonder which text is free of copyright, but 3222 pp. long: it is the Bible in Luther's original 1545 German translation ;-) The .odt file is 1.9 MB in size. You find it together with the (free) fonts attached to this bug report. To test I just open the file, do nothing else, do not even scroll, just select File Export as PDF..., leave most settings at default, just select * General: Export bookmarks * General: Export automatically inserted blank pages * General: Embed standard fonts * Links: Export bookmarks as named destinations but don't select General: Embed OpenDocument file, and click Export. Results: I distinguish three stages of PDF export. In stage I, the progress bar is not yet visible, but the cursor turns to the spinning cursor or watch (depending on your OS, I suppose). In stage II, the progress bar is visible, but does not work yet, i.e. does not show any progress. In stage III, the pogress bar shows the progress of export. To distinguish these stages is important, because it may reveal something about where the decrease of performance occurs. All values are in seconds and the mean value of several tests with each version. LibO 3.4.6LibO 3.5.53LibO 3.6.0.1 Export stage I 5052 50 (spinning cursor) Exporr stage II 5 5267 (!!!) (progress bar visible, but disabled) Export stage III 102 113140 (progress bar showing progress) Total 157 170457 (!!!) You see, we have a little decrease of performance in LibO 3.5.x as compared to 3.4.x, but a big decrease in LibO 3.6.0.1 as compared to both older versions. The decrease happens partially in stage III of the export, but mostly in stage II. This stage, which took only 5 seconds in LibO 3.4.x and 3.5.x, and is, with small documents, so short that you may not even notice it, takes 267 seconds now in LibreOffice 3.6.0.1. Wow! I already thought that LibO 3.6.0.1 freezed, and this is really bad user experience. It seems that the duration of this stage depends exponentially on file size, even without any graphics. So the question is: WHAT does LibreOffice do in stage II? Here is the place of the biggest regression of performance against LibreOffice 3.5.x, and here our developers should look how to get performance back. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

OOo 1.1.5 has 'Evaluate up to level' =3, so some more headings are shown there, but still incomplete. Already in 3.3.0, so I assume problem is more or less inherited from OOo. Of course, I can reproduce it. I just understood it differently. It ONLY occurs when you export a selection. Additional Bounding Box (lets call it ABB35079) is always to the right of the shape. Obviously, there is some coordinate Information ADDED to the Shapes - Information that isn't rotated. But it must be shifted during rotation. the additional bounding box seems always to be on one end of the Figure. (the end that was the left one before the rotation) I (initially) thought the bounding box was checked - in unrotated state - BEFORE the fine selection was done, just like a coarse check. But as there is not such a coarse check amongst the selection it turns out that the respective bounding box seems to be additional geometry information INSIDE the shape. If you mess up the positioning by defeating the rotating routine in /svx//svdtrans.cxx, the selection frame is shifted and the Additional Bounding Box ABB35079 is shifted with it, too! (since now, the rotation selection is not rotated, it is identical now to the Additional Bounding Box i call ABB35079. So the ABB35079 must be something that is shifted by the svd rotating routine. (While the VISIBLE Data Structure is rotated by something else). (See picture). My Questions: (Where is the routine that defines the standard shapes?) I guess i'll find out... [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52120] New: Skip an effect does not work with the hide after animation option
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52120 Bug #: 52120 Summary: Skip an effect does not work with the hide after animation option Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: 3.7.0.0.alpha0+ Master Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Presentation AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: mrcek...@gmail.com Created attachment 64239 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=64239 a presentation sample In order to reproduce this bug do as follow: 1) create an empty presentation, 2) add any shape, e.g. a rectangle, 3) add any effect, e.g. change fill color (to blue), 4) open the Effect Options dialog and from the After animation drop list select Hide after animation option. 5) play the presentation, 6) click to start the change fill color effect, 7) click again to skip the effect. The correct result should be that the rectangle is no more visible as it happens when the effect is fully played, on the contrary a rectangle with the fill color changed is shown. In the attached file you can see a presentation that has been created following the above steps. This bug is due to the fact that the Hide after animation option is performed by a set animation element whose begin attribute is set to a synchronization value of animation-id.end, where animation-id is the id of the animation element, the hide after animation option is related to. The issue is that when a skip action is performed the end method is called recursively for all the animation nodes that made up the effect, so referring to the above example when the change fill color animation end method is invoked the event that fires the activate method of the set visibility to hidden animation node is appended to the event queue, but soon after the end method of the set visibility to hidden animation node is invoked too, before the event queue and the activity queue are processed. So when the event firing the activate method is finally processed the set visibility to hidden animation node is already in ended state and hence the hiding action is never performed. A possible solution is the one implemented in the JavaScript presentation engine. The ingredients of this solution are two: 1) the ActivityQueue class has been provided with a method (endAll) that invokes the end method for all currently processed activities; 2) when we are skipping the activate method instead of appending a new activity to the activity queue, executes the end method of the activity immediately. You can read more on this solution here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GSLPSIWRGSDTSi69dT9Te8tRyTJcAekxT7scoCoGO2M/edit?pli=1#heading=h.nimeoxbia176. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52069] Help says F9 updates cross-references. Not so; does not work in Mac
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52069 --- Comment #4 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-07-15 16:44:41 PDT --- @Lou: Thank you very much for your background information! I think that we should split this issue. (a) The F-key issue: That F9 does not work is IMHO a MacOS X issue, I mean, the problem is that MacOS X caches the F9 event and interprets it as reveal all open windows -- therefore, LibreOffice does not receive the F9 key event at all, and therefore can't handle it. It should be possible to change this behaviour in the MacOS X System Preferences, but don't ask me how exactly -- Apple has changed the handling of F-keys and keyboards several times in the last updates of MacOS X, and I did not catch up with these changes :-( But some MacOS X support expert should be able to tell us what to do. (b) The documentation issue (your point (1)): As I already wrote in comment #1, you are definitely right that the LibreOffice help for this action is incomplete and inappropriate! *This* should get fixed soon. (c) Changing the shortcut (your point (2)): And (2) if user wants to devise keyboard shortcut, can that be done? Yes, I think so ;-) Open any Writer document. Then select from the menu bar Tools Customize In the dialog window which appears, entitled Customize, select the 2nd tab (Keyboard). At the top right, check Writer (instead of LibreOffice). In the list Shortcut keys, search for F9, next to which you should find Fields, and click on the button Delete at the right -- because F9 does not work anyway, we can remove this key. Then, in the list Category at the bottom left, select Edit; then, in the list Function at the bottom, select the first entry called Field (I see Field two times, don't ask me why!). Now select in the list Shortcut keys at the top any free entry you want to use; I used Cmd+Y to test. Now click on the button Modify at the right. You should now see the Command Field associated to the keyboard shortcut you selected (again in the list Shortcut keys). Click OK. At least for me, Cmd+Y correctly updates all fields now, including the cross-references. (d) Improvements to UI (your point (3)): A nice touch would be an update option under Cross-reference. A good idea; please file a separate bug report for this, and set the Importance field in this report to enhancement, to make clear that this is an enhancement request. (e) Improvements to terminology (your point (4)): I agree with you that Fields is an example of strange terminology, however, I'm not in the position to decide this. To put it all together: LibreOffice Help says (Help LibreOffice Help Index cross-references inserting and updating): Updating Cross-References To manually update the cross-references in a document, press F9. No information is given about how to select this command from the menu. This is irritating, because: (a) selecting the command from the menu is IMHO the primary way to select any command; keyboard shortcuts and F-keys are rather *alternative* ways to select commands and are directed especially at power users; (b) keyboard shortcuts and F-keys may not always work, depending on user interface language, keyboard type and settings. Therefore, I propose to change this part of the LibreOffice help to: Updating Cross-References To manually update the cross-references in a document, choose Tools - Update - Fields from the menu or press F9. Regarding the documentation, this is a valid bug report, therefore I change the Status to NEW (confirmed). Setting Version according to comment #3. Setting Platform to All. @András Timar: Hello András, I insert your address into the CC list because I think you are our expert for fixing bugs in localhelp. Now I can see all built-in help info via F1 or any occasion when I see Help button, like going Tools-Options. I see, that on download of LOO it says on the website that EN-GB version is going top be downloaded, meaning obviously,m that upon start EN_GB will be set as UI language - but as I mentioned it was set as EN US. Is it bug? should be changed? [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51686] FORMATTING Background Colour No Fill and Font Colour Automatic cause LibreOffice to crash
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51686 Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEEDINFO Ever Confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #4 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-07-15 17:55:14 PDT --- I'm sorry, but even after doing many additional tests I can't reproduce the crash; for me, changing background color to No fill and font color to Automatic always work as expected. But I have found some bug reports which are very similar, especially bug 44471 -- FORMATTING: Changing character background color causes HANG. This and some similar reports (see bug 47368 and its many duplicates) are caused by the fact that in MacOS X System Preferences, section Universal Access, the option Enable access for assistance devices was checked (this is the first checkbox at the bottom of the Universal Access preference pane). Similar crashes can also happen if other options in Universal Access are activated, e.g. Voice over, or if some special MacOS user interface utilities are installed, namely * Moom (see bug 42014) * Cinch (see bug 51791) and maybe other utilities which provide windows snapping, zooming in and out of windows, etc. on MacOS X. No accessibility features enabled that I'm aware of. Therefore I want to ask you again (sorry!) if you are really sure that no accessibility features are activated on your Mac -- please check again in System Preferences, section Universal Access! Sometimes it happens that users just forget about such settings or that these settings are activated by 3rd-party software without notifying the user at all. If this is not the case, please check if you have any special system utilities installed like Moom or Cinch or other utilities or apps which interact with the general handling of windows or with the user interface or appearance of MacOS X and its applications. Sorry for asking you again, but this is really important ... Please look at the following chart for an example of how one can categorize bugs. https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/0/06/Prioritizing_Bugs_Flowchart.jpg This is just one example and other methods of prioritizing can be used but to constitute as a CRITICAL bug, in general we should be seeing some crash, loss of data, etc... Marking as MINOR - MEDIUm Minor because I think it makes it substantially harder to make professional quality work which works smoothly as a .doc. Also marking as MEDIUM priority as it seems like it may affect some users but not most or all. Furthermore, there are workarounds (ie. don't use .doc). https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50371 --- Comment #21 from dgustafso...@gmail.com 2012-07-15 19:16:42 PDT --- I posted my problem on the Java website, asking for the Java 6v32 download, and they referred me to you...as I told them, I just got a new Toshiba Sattelite laptop with Windows 7, 64 bit OS. when setting it up, Java came up and told me to update to Java 7, and how to uninstall older, less safe versions. So I did. Then, since I do not use Microsoft Office apps much, I didn't want to spend the money, I just thought I would use Open Office, as it worked fine for me on my old laptop with XP OS. So I downloaded it, and when trying to use it, it kept popping up the error message-- something about Open Office needs a JRE and to install one. Well, after doing a bunch of research and finding out what a JRE even is! I went to Java and tried to get Java 6 v 32 to download. On Java, they did NOT want to let me have version 6 at all, but finally I got 6v33...and I am STILL getting the error messages. And I wrote to Java, like I said, and they sent me to you...does this mean that I MUST shell out the money (which I don't have now) to get Microsoft Office just so I can open my XL spreadsheets from old Open Office and Works apps ? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

For a report, which needs positioning of elements at the second page, I put the details-range over 39,3 cm. Header and footer were both 3 cm, margins both 2 cm. So also the second page had to be filled completly with the details of the first row of data. When I see Position Y in the properties, it shows always 17 cm - for all elements, which are position over 17 cm from above. So I have positioned the elements only with the mouse or with arraow-keys. But then I could see, that a inserted shape is positioned not the same way as a label-field. When editing the report, both are positioned at the same Y-Position. But when I perform the report, it shows the shape with a big distance above the label-field. When I take away header an footer, the distance isn't so far and the lable-field is nearly positioned at the right place. I have created an attachment, which shows two reports, positioned correct when editing - not correct, when performed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
