scrollbars: one for whole pane and one for area Styles
Actually: no scrollbar for whole pane and not working scrollbar for area

Changing version to 3.3.4 as most early reproduced

 Examples of proposed gradients usage

@Lekow:
Thank you very much for the nice examples!

IMHO Lekow’s examples confirm my impression that Jean-François’ gradients set
harmonizes very well with our UI changes in LibreOffice 3.6; both go into the
directon of an up-to-date, clean and simple, but lucid and vivid design.

The B-Spline algorithm is specified by ODF so we have to implement just what

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 54186] New: : JCL Options from PPD not shown in Print - Properties - Device

Xerox PPD using JCL options

JCL Options from PPD does not show in Print - Properties - Device

This makes it impossible to use all features on a Xerox 7545, in particular it
is not possible to select blackwhite or color at
printing.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install a printer in Cups with a PPD that users JCL options (see below)
2. Start Libreoffice, new text document, and type a few characters
3. Go to File - Print and select the printer from (1)
4. Open the 'Properties' tab
5. Open the 'Device' tab
6. Locate the JCL options

Current behavior
JCL options can not be found

Expected result
JCL options should be found somewhere

Platform:
Fedora 17, x86_64 fully updated 20012-08-27
Libreoffice 3.5.6.2-1.fc17 x86_64

Printer:
Xerox 7545 with PPD Xerox Global Printer Driver PS3, XRX7675.PPD,
http://print.chalmers.se/drivers/tme-i-2345-laser1.ppd
as recommended by Xerox

This file uses JCL to select color correction mode
(color/blackwhite/cmyk/..) for the printer.

Snippet from the PPD:
*% Color Correction

*JCLOpenUI *JCLColorCorrection/Color Correction: PickOne
*OrderDependency: 10.7 JCLSetup *JCLColorCorrection
*DefaultJCLColorCorrection: Auto
*JCLColorCorrection Auto/Automatic: @PJL COMMENT OID_ATT_COLOR_MODE
OID_VAL_COLOR_MODE_AUTOMATIC0A
*JCLColorCorrection sRGB/sRGB Display: @PJL COMMENT OID_ATT_COLOR_MODE
OID_VAL_COLOR_MODE_SRGB_DISPLAY0A
*JCLColorCorrection BlackWhite/Black White: @PJL COMMENT OID_ATT_COLOR_MODE
OID_VAL_COLOR_MODE_BLACK_WHITE0A
*JCLColorCorrection PressMatch/Press Match: @PJL COMMENT OID_ATT_COLOR_MODE
OID_VAL_COLOR_MODE_CMYKSimulation0A
*JCLColorCorrection None/None: @PJL COMMENT OID_ATT_COLOR_MODE
OID_VAL_COLOR_MODE_NONE0A
*JCLCloseUI: *JCLColorCorrection

End snippet

This ppd uses JCL for a lot of other stuff also, but the problem is the same.

Background:
In order to get a color printout, the generated file (PS or PDF)
must be in color, AND the printer must accept to print color.
To get a black output the generated file must be black OR the
printer must deny printing in color.
Easy? Not!

Now what happens if an application that is in popular use always outputs
in color, resulting in an excessive amount of color printouts, which could
have been printed in black at a much lower cost?

Then the only way to get black is by forcing the printer to deny color.

Most of the printouts should be black, so the good default value for the
printer is deny color, and that has to be set in the printer itself. To get
color, go into the properties tag at printout, and select color when color
printing is needed.

This of course is possible only if there is a possibility to change the
value. It is possible in many applications. but does not work in Libreoffice!
Why? Because on this printer that option is handled by JCL, and Libreoffice
ignores JCLoptions in the ppd.

Firefox works correctly.

What application can be that stupid that it does not give the users a
color/black choice? Acrobat Reader om Windows!

Remember that the printers are shared between many different OS,
applications and users. We need to have consistent default values, and
consistent handling of options across all these.

As I can see, there is a very limited number of solutions:
* Drop Acrobat Reader (And all other Adobe programs) Probably not accepted
by the users, but I would like to.
* Do not use Xerox printers until the problem is solved (Hello Xerox
marketing, we buy 100 printers every year)
* Stop using LibreOffice until this bug is corrected. This is a very
unpleasant way, but we may be forced take that direction.

This is not new. There is an old bug report from 2007-05-02 in the openSUSE
Bugzilla. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=270479
OpenOffice ignores PPD options in JCLOpenUI/JCLCloseUI

The status is resolved, but I can not find any traces of that
in Openoffice/Libreoffice/Apacheoffice. The problem is still in current
version, waiting for a resolution.

To show that I am not alone having problems with color/black printing,
a quote from https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47278

|The pdf export always produces a color-mode pdf, even when the document being
|exported is all black text. This is a serious problem when you are using a

A filter decodes WMF files as shapes. Therefore, the picture is distorted:
violated the proportions, the color palette is set to Default. These files
must be inserted as images. This will allow correctly decoding WMF file
contained in the publication. (See GIF animations in an attachment.)
--
The content of an attachment:
1) Two publications (color of the WMF changed in the second file);
2) Source (color) the WMF;
3) ODG file as a result of import PUB file with addition WMF file to which
applied the same parameters as “dog_2.pub”;
4) Two GIF animations that explain which settings (MS_Publisher 2002 and
LibO_Draw 3.7.0) were used to the WMF file.

Problem description:

I see problems related to image captions:

* You cannot edit them WYSIWYG, which means one cannot apply formatting, such
as styling a link.

* How do you edit an image caption after you've pressed ok? Using Caption...
in the context menu brings up an empty dialog.

* As a consequence, foot notes cannot be used in an image caption. That could
be considered poor editing style, but I don't think the software should
constrain that.

--- Comment #1 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-08-29 08:15:32 UTC ---
Thank you very much for your bug report!

Problem description: A 13-page document shows Page 1/13 as the document
loads, but then reduces to Page 1/4 after being fully loaded.

This is REPRODUCIBLE with LibreOffice 3.6.1.2 (Build ID: e29a214), German
langpack installed, on MacOS X 10.6.8 (Intel).

But IMHO the main problem is not that pages 5 to 13 (or even 14, on my machine)
disappear after opening the document; the main problem is that the complete
contents of these pages are missing.

And *this* -- all document contents are missing after page 4, point 11a., last
line: Designing with Web Standards (3rd Edition), Jeffrey Zeldman and Ethan
-- is already

REPRODUCIBLE with LibreOffice 3.5.6.2 on the same machine: it shows 14 pages,
of course but pages 5 to 14 are blank (and you even can’t reach them with the
cursor!), so all contents after the line cited above is missing.

Note: as soon as you click into the last visible line cited above, 3.5.6.2
hides the following pages, too, so only the 4 valid pages are left.

- Adapted Version and Summary fields.

LibreOffice 3.4.6 loads the complete text of the document, or at least more of
it, so there is probably an regression involved. - Added keyword regression.

Can you reproduce this issue on Windows?

What do you think: is this a LibO 3.5 MAB candidate? I am not sure. On the one
hand, I would say yes, definitely a MAB -- missing most of the contents of a
file is not good :-( On the other hand, the report is only about a particular
document. But it seems probable that this bug will also affect more documents
...

Thank you!

@Thorsten Behrens:
Sorry, but this looks like another issue for our MacOS X expert :-( If you know
someone else who could take this MacOS-related issue, please CC him.

IMHO we need to fix this issue soon, because it will really prevent people from
installing and using LibreOffice on MacOS X 10.8. Even if the proposed
workaround (see link in comment #2) works, the necessity to change security
settings may prevent some people from using LibreOffice, because they think
this could harm the computer. And comment #4 even says that the workaround
sometimes does not work ...

Thank you!

REPRODUCIBLE with LibreOffice 3.6.1.2 (Build ID: e29a214), German langpack
installed, on MacOS X 10.6.8 (Intel).

In my case the font list ends at letter H (Helvetica). So I think that this
is neither a problem with the scrolling of contextual menus (scrolling the menu
up and down works fine) nor with fonts beginning with D, but
* either just with the count of fonts installed on the machine --
  the contextual menu then only displays a limited count of entries;
this seems probable to me --,
* or a special issue with some font which comes after the last displayed font.
But I can't confirm this (2nd) possibility, because the next font after
Helvetica is Helvetica CY, which should work (there is no problem with
Geneva CY earlier in the contextual menu).

So most probably just a problem with the count of fonts installed?!
In any case, REPRODUCIBLE.
(I have just never noticed this problem before because I never use the
contextual menu to select a font face, sorry.)

--- Comment #9 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-08-29 09:08:02 UTC ---
In reply to comment #8)
So most probably just a problem with the count of fonts installed?!

Seems so -- if I de-install two fonts which are in the (alphabetical) list
before Helvetica, two more fonts after Helvetica are displayed. Probably
really a very stupid bug about entry count in contextual menues.

And:
Already REPRODUCIBLE with LibreOffice 3.3.0, results identical.
- Changed Version accordingly.

gdb stack trace from failure with 3.7

I am still waiting for a developer build of 3.6.2 to test (although I have not
checked today).

I edited the one line change from comment 19 into my 3.7 source (snapshot of a
few days ago) and the resulting program crashed when I attempted to insert a
row. Either the issue is not totally fixed, or additional changes are needed in
the context of 3.7.

Attached is the gdb output from that crash with 3.7 and the one line change
from comment 19.

Yes, and even very obvious -- if I didn’t make a mistake while counting, the

just missing. - Adapted summary.

ALL:

The other workaround, which does not involve fiddling with the security
settings, is to right mouse button click on the .app icon and choose Open
from the context menu. You will be asked once if you really want to start the
program, and then it will launch. There must be some magic flag set in Apple's
security subsystem that notes this and then doesn't bother the user afterwards.

However, this has to be repeated, if you re-install, upgrade, etc, the
application at a later date.

The problem with this report is that the initial reporter is using software
that costs 310 Euros to buy (at least from a quick search on Amazon). How many
people use that software on a daily basis ? I'm guessing not many. From a
proffessional point of view, I could see the point of investing in something
like that, but I doubt that any of the Mac QA testers have this software on
their computers, and so the bug will likely forever remain in the unconfirmed
state, or else be closed.

Additionally, LO's integration with Apple's HI and AT(SUI) interfaces uses code
which is probably now obsolete, at least in versions of OSX going forward from
Snow Leopard (10.6 and up), since at least of the interfaces that LO calls are
deprecated in these versions.

Until someone with intricate knowledge of OSX programming joins the project to
help move LO on Mac into the 21st century, things are only going to get worse.

Can you find out the correct input?

Please remove Captcha from a.m. page, even if you have no similar replacement.
We want to invite people to contribute, not to keep them away with minefields.

I understand that abuse has to be prevented, but this particular Captcha is a
nuisance. I saw it from time to time on other pages, and I never contacted or
joined there, because after some attempts to get in I was enraged enough to say
goodbye for ever, and today I read about similar complaints on
disc...@de.libreoffice.org.

The Audio Description of that Captcha is a slap for blind people.

If the experience is that we should protect page from abuse by a Captcha,
please use a much more simple, Accessibility proved one.

And please check whether we have this Captcha also on other pages and remove it
there, too.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53288] : Unable to use spellchecking as a regular user on Windows 7 and Windows 2008R2

2012-08-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #12 from Andreas Berger hatbol...@gmail.com 2012-08-29 10:59:25

My problems with regards to speed is due to some misconfiguration with the
share, so it can be disregarded. Running LO with a local profile as described
in comment11 will run the app at normal speeds.

Running LO with a profile in say C:\Temp\testuser results in me having access
to spellcheck (hunspell).

I tried pointing LO to a mapped network share, the users homefolder
W:\lo-test\ and here spellcheck also works.

When folder redirection is being used, it's shown as a UNC path. E.g
\\fileserver\appdata$\user\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\3\user\*

Could this be the real issue?

This fails for me as well. FC16 x86_64 running LibO 3.6.0.4. To reproduce:
load a document into Writer. Export as PDF. The default on the security tab
(greyed out) is Changes: Any except extracting pages. Complete the export.
Open the resulting PDF with Adobe Reader 9 (9.4.7 10/05/2011). Go to
Document:Security:Show Security Properties. Read the Document Restrictions
Summary. Observe Commenting: Not Allowed.

I understand the motivation for robo-closing bugs, but if one reads the
history, only a month ago it was reconfirmed by users. There is no extra
information needed on this, as the method to reproduce it is quite clear.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53965] : Character ` is inserted while cycling through the windows on Mac

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53965

Graphics: Keys to press to cycle through windows on keyboard with Spanish ISO
layout

Sorry for the long delay!

In between I have tried to reproduce the issue on my MacBook Pro, just
configuring everything according to your settings reported in comment #2 (MacOS
UI language English, keyboard layout Spanish ISO, LibreOffice UI language US
English. The only two things I can’t change are
* the MacOS X version (10.6.8 in my case) and
* my physical (hardware) keyboard which has German layout (this is very similar
to Spanish ISO; at least the same number and arrangement of keys, and
identical position of all the main keys 'A' to 'Z' and '0' to '9').

My first observation is that, using this configuration, there are two
possibilities to cycle through windows:
1) I can press Command + ` (this key is at the top right of the keyboard,
right of 'P', left of '+') or
2) I can press Command + '' (this key is at the bottom left,
right of the shift key, left of 'Z', below 'A').
Both ways work, but when I press Command + `, an additional ` accent is
inserted into the text of the active document, just as you have reported,
while, when I press Command + '', everything works fine (windows are
exchanged, but no character is inserted into the main text). The latter works
with all applications I have tested (LibreOffice, TextEdit, BBEdit, and
others).

Because a textual description of keys is a bit difficult, I attach a
screenshot/graphics which shows a Spanish ISO keyboard layout and the two keys
which I can press to cycle through the open windows.

Now a simple question:
Could you please try if using the second shortcut, i.e. pressing Command + ''
(or whatever lable may have that key on your physical keyboard) instead of
Command + `, works for you without problems, just like for me? And report the
results here, please! Thank you very much!

Thanks Alex for your comments and analysis.

Could an OS X specialist look into this matter, please?
It really is a sore blocker preventing the use of LibreOffice on the Mac, for
me and others, as I have found this same complaint elsewhere on the web.

As for the purchasing of MacSpeech, Alex, you chose the most expensive option
possible.
Without even waiting for a promotional offer, you can buy it today for $130, or
169eur (student/teacher edition, which is the one I use; blast them, almost
twice the price in euros!).
Nuance, the distributor of MacSpeech, just told me that their tech team is
working on the problem, and I left them another message.

The very best would be to get in touch with them directly and share in the
efforts to solve this blocking bug.

Thanks in advance to all who decide to tackle and fix this problem.

--- Comment #4 from Alex Thurgood ipla...@yahoo.co.uk 2012-08-29 11:50:42 UTC

Hi Roman,

I am re-opening this bug because I've now had two independent reports, one from
a French user, and one from a German user, on Mac OSX, where they have been
unable to install the language pack, in circumstances which are the same, or
extremely similar to those described here.

1) User downloads a recent version of LO for Mac.
2) User downloads a langpack.
3) User installs LO
4) User then attempts to install langpack - the installation freezes or does
not complete and the langpack is not installed.

The reports I have had have been from users on Mac OSX 10.7 or higher (Lion or
Moutain Lion). Both reports state that double-clicking on the .app file does
nothing, or appears to do nothing and no error messages are returned.

The app file launches an AppleScript, which uses the mdfind utility to look for
an existing installation of LO. The problem might lie in the applescript.
Apparently, no error messages are seen if the app is launched from the
Terminal. I will have a look at the latest langpacks and see whether something
might be going wrong with the script (deprecated calls or something like that
??).

Note that I haven't as yet been able to reproduce the problem on Mac OSX 10.8.

Alex

In a previous discussion with cloph about a similar problem, he mentioned that
the permissions need to be set correctly on the system for the script installer
to work properly. It may well be that the users having problems do not have the
correct permissions set on their systems, due to other software installations,
or tinkering. These permissions can be reset using the disk utility in the
Applications/Utilities folder.

As for Lion and Mountain Lion, it may well be that the new permissions system
managed by the security settings is preventing the installation from
completing...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 43392] Problem with installation of langage pack

2012-08-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43392

--- Comment #9 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-08-29 12:23:12 UTC ---
(In reply to comment #4)
 Hi Roman,

I am re-opening this bug because I've now had two independent reports,
one from a French user, and one from a German user, on Mac OSX, where they
have been unable to install the language pack, in circumstances which are
the same, or extremely similar to those described here.

Hi Alex,

a good idea -- yes, after reading your comments I am convinced that this is a
serious issue. However --

(In reply to comment #6)
The problem with this bug is that we need more information, that the users
 have
 been unable to give us.

That’s it. I also agree that this is a critical problem, and needs more
attention. So thank you for your research -- please continue the good work! If
I can help something, let me know, however at the moment I am not sure what I
can do (I have never seen the problem myself).
