[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 54308] Calc EDITING: dragfill not working when select some cell and hold Ctrl

2012-10-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54308

--- Comment #6 from Niklas Johansson sleeping.pil...@gmail.com ---
Interesting I can reproduce on Windows 7 64-bit (Swedish). But ONLY if i press
down the Ctrl key before pressing down mouse button and start dragging.

And as the reporter says it works the second time.

If I on the other hand start by pressing down the mouse button then Ctrl and
start dragging it always seems to work for me.

I can reproduce it and also observe the behavior reported by Niklas: When I
first click (and hold) the right bottom corner, then press (and hold) CTRL and
then drag, everything works as expected. On the other hand, when I first press
and hold CTRL and then click and drag the right bottom corner I also observe
this bug.

This is becoming more complicated than it looked at first :) I can't reproduce
either by holding mouse button first or by using ctrl button first.

Thanks for marking as NEW, definitely confirmed at this point.

Forgot to mention that I reproduced it on LibreOffice 3.6.2.2 with Swedish
language pack.

Also reproduced it on LibreOffice 3.5.6.2 (no language pack active) on Mac OS X
10.7.5.

And finally on LibreOffice 3.4.6 on a Windows XP machine.

And still the crucial thing is to press Ctrl (cmd on mac) before you press the
mouse button.

This is my first time using this feature, so take this comment for
what it is worth.

I observe that behaviour is different depending on whether the mouse
cursor is over the bottom right corner of B1 when you press ctrl.
With the cursor somewhere else, the program works as sasha expects.
With the cursor already in position, dragging the mouse cursof selects
either cells of column A only or cells of row 1 only, and nothing is
copied.

That's the trick! I always had the cursor on the bottom right (seemed intuitive
I guess to me ;) ). None the less, probably qualifies as a minor bug as it's
not consistent behavior, also as a few other people were able to reproduce it
so easily, it meant they were not assuming to go to bottom right corner first.

Thanks for the pointer Terrence, I can now confirm this is an issue

 Hello APE,
I did the test with Visual C++ MC_VCR_9.0.21022.8_x86 and already had the
 same probleme (freeze).
Please note this problem occur with LibreOffice-3.6.2 (not with
libo 3.5.7 mention in your post).

 Regards
 Nicolas
Nicolas!
MS_VCR's version installed in the system, is not important in this bug. I
think that an Built environment used to compile the LibO-3.6(7).x_Win_x86 is
reason of an error. MS_VCR-9.0.21022 and JDK-1.6.0_u16-u35 should be used in
the assembly all LibOffices (now - 3.5.7 only).
Fridrich uses MSVCR-9.0.30729 (this is SP1).

More simple sample document

@Mariano
We know here what a absolute reference means.

As you correctly pointed the problem only appears if the referenced cell is
part of the range to be copied. The question was whether that might be an
intended trick to keep such a range together because users want that because
of reasons I don't know.

I created a more simple document with more simple formula to show the
complained effect.

I do not believe that the observed behavior is intended, but don't believe
and don't know are no criteria fulfilling conditions for NEW due to
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugTriage#Process item 5

Additionally the behavior of 3.3.3 seems back, at least for the cases in your
and my example a bug now would be WORKSFORME

The question is: did we loose a good no feature (I do not believe) or has the
bug gone (I think so, but I don't know).

nominating bug 48056.
Reasoning, as per http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Release_Criteria:
- The bug renders a function completely unusable, namely reports with charts.
- bug is certainly reproducible by a lot of users, seeing the confirmations
in the bug itself, and the duplicates
- The bug is a regression to the 3.4.x series
- There is no workaroundd at all: If you want to use your reports, you need
to revert to an older version of LO.

--- Comment #6 from stfhell stfh...@googlemail.com ---
Still a problem in LO 3.6.2.2. In summary: When Show tracked changes is
active, Find will find text that has been deleted with track changes
activated. Find replace will replace already deleted text. When you do
Find replace with activated track changes, it will replace the same
(already deleted) text again and again. Replace all works insofar as it
replaces each occurance only once.

Actually it can be useful if Find also searches tracked deletions - after all
you use track changes to be able to keep deleted text in the document. But I
think it's usually not what you want. So you would have to disable show
tracked changes just to do a Find. I cannot imagine a situation where you
would like already deleted text to be replaced by newly inserted text.

It's definitely a bug that LO does not at least move the cursor behind the
replaced text when you choose Replace in the Find replace dialogue with
track changes activated. That leads to the same text being replaced again and
again.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56015] New: Insane use of _PC_NAME_MAX

2012-10-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56015

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 56015
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: Insane use of _PC_NAME_MAX
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: ces...@cesarb.net
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

As described on the page at
http://womble.decadent.org.uk/readdir_r-advisory.html (last modified in
December 2007), OpenOffice.org (at least version 1.1.3) used _PC_NAME_MAX in an
insane way (described in a slightly more colorful way in the aforementioned
page). Looking at the current LibreOffice git master, I see the insane code is
still there, on at least two different files (found with git grep _PC_NAME_MAX
HEAD):

HEAD:extensions/source/plugin/unx/unxmgr.cxx:char aBuffer[ sizeof( struct
dirent ) + _PC_NAME_MAX +1 ];
HEAD:vcl/generic/fontmanager/fontmanager.cxx:long aDirEntBuffer[
(sizeof(struct dirent)+_PC_NAME_MAX)+1 ];

This does not make much sense, since (at least on my system) _PC_NAME_MAX is an
enum value, meant to be passed as an argument to pathconf/fpathconf. The use of
the long type in one of these two files is even more baffling.

Note: While breaking, all data is shown. If double click, data turn to #ref.
After breaking all cell show data, but for all cell, cell formula point to the
first cell of linked array. any further operation turn cells into #ref.

Example : E7 to G12 is linked array. After breaking, all cells show the formula
={E7} pointing to first cell of linked array. Any further operation turn cells
into #ref.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55989] New: Calc FORMATTING, UI: incorrect behaviour of Background color tool

2012-10-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55989

  Priority: low
Bug ID: 55989
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Calc FORMATTING, UI: incorrect behaviour of Background
color tool
  Severity: minor
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: sasha.libreoff...@gmail.com
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.1.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Some strange behaviour of Background color tool reproduced in 3.6.1 on Fedora
64 bit.
Steps to reproduce:
0. Start Calc
1. Place table cursor on any cell, click on triangle next to Background color
tool. Palette with colors appears.
2. Select any color on palette
3. Click on triangle next to Background color tool again (while in the same
table cell). We see that around selected color is small rectangle)
4. Click on triangle next to Background color tool again for palette
disappear
5. Click on another cell in table.
Expected: Background color tool will keep previous color
Actually: it becomes No fill color

I understand that in such situation tool works as Eye Dropper. But it is so
unintuitive. Users expect that they will change color and paint with this color
several cells. But it takes color from cell.

This bug is split of Bug 38813
Resolution of Joel Madero:
Verified. I'm marking as a low priority minor bug.

Reason:
Can make it somewhat harder to make professional quality work -- requires an
additional step of changing the color again, furthermore, if you're using
similar colors, figuring out the same color you used previously can be tedious.

The # of users really affected by this is probably low (only those using
background colors really often), and even then, the workaround is just one
additional step of choosing the color again.

Not an enhancement as the behavior is inconsistent. If you change the color of
a cell and then immediately select another cell, behavior is as expected, if
you change the color of a cell and then choose the arrow drop down again, then
move on to another cell, it shows no fill. Behavior should be consistent and
this isn't working as it's intended to work

Still [Reproducible] with LibreOffice 3.6.3.1” German UI/ German Locale

Worked fine until Server Installation of LibreOffice 3.6.2.2 release” German
UI/ German Locale [Build-ID: da8c1e6] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)

Again works fine with parallel installation of Master LOdev 3.7.0.0.alpha0+

2012-10-08 09:46:32} on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) with separate User
Profile for Master Branch

So it seems the problem simply is that we need the fix backported to 3.6?

An additional problem is that my 3.6.3.1 does not recognize CF in reporter's
sample (works fine again with mentionen Master build), so I will add a new
sample for the reopen.

Roman,

We already have bug 44736 for RTF import performance problems. Please also try
3.6, it should be faster, even if it's still a bit slower than it was in LO
3.4.

Thanks,

Miklos

We kept on discussing about this bug with Erik and finally, it was just a
mistake about the shortcut to use, here's his last message about it:

Mea culpa,
I realise it was my mistake, I should have used Ctrl PgDwn and not Shift Ctrl
PgDwn. It works perfectly now. So sorry to have troubled you unnecessarily.
And you are welcome to quote my mails, including this apology.

So I put this to RESOLVED/INVALID

Is this happening consistently for you? I can't reproduce with a blank
document. Marking as NEEDINFO. Please let us know

 a) what OS
 b) what version of LibO
 c) is this consistent?
 d) Any other special things (steps) that we can try to reproduce this?

Once you get these answered please reopen as UNCONFIRMED and I'll try to
reproduce. Another thing you can try is to back up your configuration folder,
delete it, then let LibO start with a fresh user folder. If this solves the
problem please zip your user profile and attach it here -- be aware that this
could include personal information, if you don't want to attach it, let us
 know
and we'll try to work something out with you.

Thanks for sticking with this one, I'm really curious to see how this has
 happened
