The problem disappears when I rename my user profile before I launch LibO

This bug is split from bug 56205.

Write =PI() to cell A1.
Write =TEXT(A1;# ?/8) to B1.
Write =A1 to B2 and format cell B2 with the format code '# ?/8'.

Save document and reload it. Notice, that the formating in cell B2 is lost.
The content of B1 shows, that LO understand a format code with fixed
denominator.

When you look at the source of the saved file (save to fods, then that is
easier), and look into the styles, you find the element 'number:fraction' , but
in there the attribute 'number:denominator-value' is missing.

If you manually insert the missing attribute, it is not read.

There are two issues:
1. Wrong display
2. Lost fixed denominator in format

I have written bug 56419 for the lost format. So this issue can cover the
problem with the wrong display.

Issue 38097 and issue 31449 seem different to me, because they are about
formatting via style and here direct formatting is used.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 54533] Link to external data does not work

2012-10-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54533

--- Comment #1 from Ashley Peek ashleyp...@hotmail.com ---
From the version reported here, through all versions to the current Version
3.6.2.2 (Build ID: da8c1e6) this problem has existed. Opening a NEW
spreadsheet and inserting a Link to external data does function correctly.
However, after opening a previously saved spreadsheet this function does not
work. After entering the URL nothing happens, waiting 10 minutes does nothing,
but you can Cancel the operation. As a work round, open a new spreadsheet, use
the Link to external data and provide the URL. This opens the URL at which
point you can Cancel the operation. Now open the previously saved spreadsheet
and use the Link to external data function again and it now works correctly.

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55430

--- Comment #8 from Lennard Wasserthal wassert...@nefkom.net ---
Thanks for trusting us...
My current approach is to use the moment where the mouse button is RELEASED
sd - fusel.cxx -
00641 sal_Bool FuSelection::MouseButtonUp(const MouseEvent rMEvt)
and the object has not been shifted. (Ordinarily, the control boxes change
from scale to rotate then.
Before this is done, I am doing a check which checks if there is an object in
front of the selected one which would be clicked.

But somehow it doesn't work... it seems to recognize the covering object but
the following select routine fails (used mpView-BegMacroObj)

Can someone tell me what MACRO-Object means in the sense of
SDRSEARCH_PICKMACRO or
mpView-BegMacroObj???

best regards, I hope I will fix it THIS weekend.

regressions I am afraid of (if you totally remove the selected object's
priority)
 (however avoided by my method:)
1. covered control boxes would not work anymore
2. You could not draw another object out behind another object by which it is
totally covered.

Good question; I assume that we provided support for importing formulae from
the MS namespaced formulae in ODF into Calc in the past - no idea why we might
have dropped that. A quick git grep for msoxl in sc/ suggests we had some work
for that in the past.

[Reproducible] with reporter's sample and with Server Installation of
LibreOffice 3.5.1.2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID:

[Reproducible] with reporter's sample and with Server Installation of
LibreOffice 3.3.3 German UI/Locale [OOO330m19 (Build:301) tag
libreoffice-3.3.3.1] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)

Also reproducible with AOOo 3.4.0, so problem seems inherited from OOo
All versions need several minutes (app 10, 3.3.3 and AOOo were the fastest)
with maximum processor load when I try to save the document as .ods

OOo3.1.1 does the job within 1 minute, OOo 2.0.2 even faster

So it seems that the latest versions need the most time.

One characteristic of the document is that it uses lots of Styles, but I have
on idea whether tat might be related.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50931] EasyHack: FILEOPEN: Cannot import HTML br/ and hr/ (while br and br /, hr and hr / are imported correctly)

2012-10-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50931

--- Comment #13 from Louis Possoz louis.pos...@quelfutur.org ---
In the original parhtml.cxx, line 1118 get the first token of an html tag (the
word following '' or '/'), stopping at the first white space or at a ''.

In our case (br/ or hr/), this resulted in the inclusion of the terminating
slash in the token. It seems that the most simple and efficient way to solve
this semi-bug is to also stop the first token on the slash by modifying line
1118. The slash will then be correctly interpreted later like in br /.

For my very first contribution to libreoffice development (I am a newby to
'git' and all that stuff), I thus submitted a new parhtml.cxx with this
correction : https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/915/

If I made any error or if I have to do anything more, please, tell me.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56427] New: UI Cell 'Background Colour' button retains colour of 'last picked' when 'No Fill' is selected

2012-10-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56427

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 56427
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: UI Cell 'Background Colour' button retains colour of
'last picked' when 'No Fill' is selected
  Severity: trivial
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: dcclay...@bataltd.co.uk
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.2.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Steps:
1) On a new worksheet select a block of cells
2) 'Background Colour' Button - select a colour eg Blue
3) select a cell in the colour block
4) 'Background Colour' Button - select 'No Fill'
5) Select a blank cell in worksheet.
6) Behaviour: 'Background Colour' Button retains the 'Blue' colour indicator
making the user believe that if the button is pressed, it will fill the cell
with 'blue' (as it would had 'No Fill' not been last selected...it would still
action a Blue fill)

Suggested behaviour - selecting 'No Fill' makes the 'Background Colour' Button
indicator go transparent / white / or have a cross. This would give the user
reassurance that the next 'press' of the button will action 'No Fill'.

(In reply to comment #1)
Bad idea. Text documents are created to keep some kind of layout, which is
not attainable with multiple possible fonts.

But to assure a desired layout (regardless of the available fonts in each
machine) is the main idea of specifying a list of fonts.
For instance, I often use Helvetica, but most computers do not have Helvetica
installed by default. If I could specify Helvetica, Arial in the paragraph
style, this would guarantee that if the user doesn't have Helvetica, he would
see the document with Arial, which is similar and keeps a kind of layout like
you mentioned.

Added another sample file, basically took the first sample file and deleted
most of columns/rows, left only 2 rows, 10 columns.

- Tested with LibreOffice 3.6.2.2 (Build ID: da8c1e6)/Windows 7
- Cleared direct formatting on all cells.
- Same behavior, the file takes a long time to save in ods format.
- This file has a long list of styles, takes 8-10 seconds to open the Styles
window list (F11)
- Saving the file in xls format using LibreOffice takes 3-4 seconds but works,
issue is when saving to ods format.
- Another weird thing, text in cells D2/F2 shows blue, try clearing all
format/change style but still shows blue.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51023] EDITING: Drag-and-drop slide always moves slide to first position, leading to data corruption and sometimes CRASH

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51023

--- Comment #53 from Tor Lillqvist tlillqv...@suse.com ---
I debugged this during the flight home and found out the root cause to the
problem (but not how to fix it): On the Mac, all the drag-and-drop action
happens during the call to pSlideSorterViewShell-StartDrag() in the Initialize
method. Thus no wonder that mpDragAndDropContext is null in the
ProcessDragEvent() as it has not been initialized yet, and is in fact
initialised only after the drag-and-drop already has finished.

I have a vague feeling that the same thing might happen on Windows, too, but
will have to build me a fresh Windows build to verify. (I vaguely remember
seeing something similar happening back in the days while working on the GTK
port to Windows.)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 41652] NO-BREAK SPACE (U+00A0) interpreted as fixed-width space

2012-10-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41652

--- Comment #10 from Simo Kaupinmäki isoku...@gmail.com ---
(In reply to comment #9)
I can direct you to the orthographic German Duden (following DIN 5008
for letter-writing): With office documents and e-mails use a space after
 abbreviation dots (z. B., u. a. m.), but not in dates (05.07.06); in word
processing use a small fixed-width space in both abbreviations and dates.

Thank you for the reference. I got hold of a copy of the 2009 edition of
Duden: die deutsche Rechtschreibung, which defines hard spaces
(Festabstände) as fixed-width, mostly smaller (meist kleinere) spaces that
prohibit line breaks (the same definition is already included in the 2000
edition and available online:
http://www.egb-buende.de/tools/EDV_Fuehrerschein_NRW/03_Grundlagen_Textverarbeitung/textverarbeitung_duden1.pdf).

So, this definition primarily seems to concern non-breakable _thin_ spaces,
though the modifier meist leaves room for some interpretation. Furthermore,
in the context of specific examples (e.g., of the use of the percent sign) it
is repeatedly said that a smaller space should be used that is explicitly
described as both hard and protected (geschützter; the 2000 edition isn't
quite as explicit on these points). On the other hand, according to the 2009
edition, the official standard DIN 5008 speaks of a full (ganzer) space,
which apparently needs be neither fixed-width nor non-breakable. My reading of
all this is that almost any space will do, but a non-breakable thin space is
preferred. And this was basically what I was talking about: normally you'd want
either a variable-width space or a _thin_ fixed-width space, not a fixed-width
space that sometimes looks like a normal space and sometimes not.

They are tools for laying out text, not necessarily a way to encode text
as information - typesetters use such things as double 1/4 quad spaces.

So fixed-width variants of normal space size do have a use (and Unicode
defines them: U+2002, U+2004, U+2005 etc.). The important point is not that
the fixed-width space should be distinguishable in all cases, but that it
should not be extensible with proportional spacing. In good typography such
spaces should in most cases be smaller than the regular space (as you say).

Now I'm a little confused. Are you talking of the regular no-break space
(U+00A0) or the _narrow_ no-break space (U+202F) here?

What I said was basically that in the ideal case there should hardly be any
distinguishable difference between U+00A0 and a normal space, even if U+00A0
was treated as a fixed-width space. If a fixed-width space is not
distinguishable from a normal space, it does not matter in practice whether it
is of fixed width or not. A different matter is that often U+00A0 is just used
as the poor man's narrow no-break space, relying on it being treated as a
fixed-width space in justified text. I can see the reasoning, but this usage is
not in alignment with the best practices of traditional typography as far as I
can see.

Granted, Unicode defines a set of fixed-width spaces, the majority of which
are, as formulated on the Microsoft page you referred to, characters
corresponding to traditional typographic _space_values_ that have indeed been
applied in manual typesetting. Historically, for each space between words on a
line, an identical space value (typically corresponding to U+2004 or U+2005)
would have been applied. For each space on other lines, a slightly different
value was applicable when necessary to get all the lines justified. After
punctuation, a larger-than-average value would often have been preferred, or in
some special cases, a thin space.

For more details, see paragraphs 239–254 explaining technical terms in the 1st
edition of the Chicago Manual of Style (published in 1906):

http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/facsimile/CMSfacsimile_terms.pdf

This is the historical background to the Unicode fixed-width spaces, and one
might want to argue that many of these characters are of little practical use
in the age of digital typography. Notably, most of the Unicode fixed-width
spaces are _breakable_ and have no non-breakable counterparts (breakability was
not a concern in manual typesetting, as each line was typeset as a separate
unit). This can be seen as a deficiency in the Unicode character repertoire, or
alternatively perhaps as an implicit stand that the kind of fine adjustment
they were originally intended for should rather rely on different means in
modern typesetting systems. Using the Unicode fixed-width spaces for manual
justifying in digital typesetting would be awkward and anachronistic.

Be that as it may, there is not much LibreOffice can do to change the overall
situation. If a document is first edited in LibreOffice and then opened in
another application (possibly after being exported into a specific format),
U+00A0 will be rendered either as a variable-width space (in Firefox) or as a
fixed-width space

2012-10-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #8 from Julien Nabet serval2...@yahoo.fr ---
Do you have lo-menubar package installed? If yes could you uninstall it and
give it a try?

If you still reproduce it, could you give a try to the 3.6.2 final and/or 3.6.3
pre release? (see http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56440] New: LibreOfficeWriter se cierra cuando se insertan formas básicas

2012-10-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56440

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 56440
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: LibreOfficeWriter se cierra cuando se insertan formas
básicas
  Severity: critical
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: horaciosache...@hotmail.com
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Saludos cordiales.

Horacio Sachetto.

May have been corrected in the meantime... Do the boxes look any different than
in the screenshot (LO 3.5.4.2 Linux)? The text looks correctly centred in all 3
boxes for me.

On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today, I reproduced the
problem.
In fact, F11 works but the panel width has been reduced to almost 0.
If you observe the right side of the window typing F11 several times, you'll
notice a slight difference
Then you can:
- retrieve the file I put in attachment
- try to increase manually the panel width

Since we don't have a buggy registrymodifications.xcu to try to reproduce, we
can't do anything for the moment. I put it at WFM.
However, if someone has a buggy registrymodifications.xcu to attach, don't
hesitate to reopen this tracker.

--- Comment #4 from Caolán McNamara caol...@redhat.com ---
Yeah IMO this is a plausible easy hack.

So here's a sample commit for adding the info that LibO can handle a mime-type
so that Linux systems suggest it as a handler for the format

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=a7082e3cd9171105d12c65d8364d29680b8d1801

I'm not actually entirely sure what the equivalent for Windows or MacOSX is,
but more than likely examining git log sysui will (eventually) show the
equivalent mechanism for those platforms. I suggest putting that aside for the
moment and just make this the Linux filetype association bug.

Now that I look I do see that application/vnd.ms-works which might be the
correct mime-type for the format in our *writer* .desktop file so it might be
that the problem is either on the shared-mime-info side which sniffs the
filetype or that the mime-type is too broad and messy and it falls through the
cracks somewhere (e.g. that all msworks file types share the same mime-type and
they get given to writer first and there's no fallback to try calc if that
doesn't work)

So to narrow down the specific problem, can you
a) attach a sample file here
b) right click on it in nautilus and see what mime-type it detects it as ?

It could be a dup of fdo#46155 (see

information, we can't investigate on this so put it to WFM.
However, if you reproduce the problem, don't hesitate to attach your buggy LO

caolanm-fridrich: I have a feeling that shared-mime-info doesn't know about
the format in order to even hand it to LibO in the first place.

Here's the how-to to add a mime-type to that

But :
- I installed extension for all users (should i have choosen just for me?)

So it's more for information than to really help :-(
Anyway, did you mean the bug doesn't appear with Java 1.7?
