[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58756] Drop KDE 3 support (KDE 4 Native Widget Framework needed)

--- Comment #2 from Francesco Frassinelli frap...@gmail.com ---
(In reply to comment #1)
Could you be more precise about being useless and for KDE3?

LibreOffice 4 has a package called kde-integration. This package is not for
KDE, but it's for KDE 3 *only*, because it depends from Qt 3/KDE 3 libs and it
doesn't use Qt 4/KDE 4 libs. Oxygen integration works withouth this package.
Last KDE 3 version was relased more than 4 years ago; KDE 4.0 was relased 5
years ago.

I think that there are 2 option here:
1. If you think that KDE 3 support is important, rename this package to
kde3-integration
2. Otherwise, drop it

Could you provide a screenshot to prove your point?

Look at libk*.so.4 (take in mind that kdelibs4 are KDE 3 related and kdelibs5
are KDE 4 related) and at libqt*.so.3:

I've you tried, for instance, to run Kubuntu 12.10 live CD and check if is
the same you see in Fedora 18? And what about Fedora 18 live?
I've debian GNU/Linux with KDE 4.8, and the packages:
 libreoffice-kde
 libreoffice-style-oxygen
and have you checked systemsettings-application appearance-gtk+ appearance?

I haven't tried different distribution, but the output I get from ldd should be
almost the same on every distribution with no KDE 3, because I'm using
LibreOffice 4 beta 2 rpm packages.
KDE 4 integration works using gtk+ appearance (although it would be nice to
have KDE 4 Native Widget Framework integration), but this bug it's mainly KDE 3
related.

If the Libreoffice 4 beta 2 deb packages are made like rpm ones, you could try
to remove libreoffice-kde from your system (leaving libreoffice-style-oxygen
installed) and see that nothing changes.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58901] New: FILEOPEN write protected questionnaire.doc: contents of Input fields can not be modified

2012-12-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58901

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 58901
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FILEOPEN write protected questionnaire.doc: contents
of Input fields can not be modified
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.3.0 Beta2
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 72334
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=72334action=edit
Sample Document

When Input fields are used, especially if you want to use the document as a
questionnaire, you need a possibility to protect all contents of the document
except the fields against modifications. This is intended for the attached
document.

Expected when I open the sample document with server installation of
LibreOffice 3.5.7.2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID:
3215f89-f603614-ab984f2-7348103-1225a5b] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit):
a) input field contents can be edited, simply click and type
b) no possibility to modify anything outside the form fields, if I try to
click, caret will go to next editable input (or checkbox) filed
c) write protection (for normal text) kept after document has been saved

This is the behavior I see in WORD.

Actual in LibO 3.5.7.2:
a) is more or less fulfilled, document by default is opened read only
b) It's impossible to edit the document:
b1) Click (or double click) field behind Firmenname und Anschrift, no caret
appears, field can not be edited
b2) 'Right click - Edit': Password message appears, but that will not help
because password is unknown
b3) Same as in (b2) when you try to make the field editable by click on
'Edit File' in Standard Task Bar
c) Write protection completely away after document has been saved as .doc
   or .odt

You will have to save the document (under new name) if you want to edit the
fields, but that will destroy the write protection of the normal text.

My results with other Versions and programs:

1. MSO 2010: Works perfectly and intuitive, write protection kept after
document has been saved with edits
2. OOo 3.1.1: Works fine, but it's a little unintuitive that a small
dialogs opens when I try to edit the Input Fields. Additionally I
can click into protected text, caret will not jump to Input filed.
Write protection kept after document has been saved with edits.
Saved documents now can be edited with LibO in the same way
3. Lotus Symphony Release 3.0.1 Revision 20120110.2000
All the same as with OOo 3.1.1
4. OOo 3.4.1: Same result as with LibO, Input fields can not be edited,
   but some differences in appearance
   - Input Fields are invisible
   - Input Fields edit dialog opens when I double click invisible
fields, but they are protected, I can not modify contents
5. LibO 3.3.3, 4.1.0.0: Same as with LibO 3.5.7.2
6. AbiWord: Unusable!
7. FreeOffice (Softmaker): Works nearby perfectly, write protection kept after
document has been saved with edits (but does not show page heading
correctly)

This one might be related to or DUP of
Bug 46362 - FILEOPEN: Word file with fields cannot be opend anymore (works in
OOo 3.2.1

I really wonder how we could create such a questionnaire with LibO as .odt, I
do no know a way to od that except with write protected section(s), what would
be rather fiddly.

In the OS X Finder, select multiple documents, then from the right-click menu
select Open with ... and select LibreOffice.

The result is an error message that the files do not exist instead of them
being opened (see attached screenshot).

If only a single file is selected, it will be opened correctly without
problems. All three files will open without problem is selected one by one.
They will also open if double-clicked, as long as it is only a single document.

The problem seems to be specific to OS X, and is seen on OS X 10.8.2, but I
believe it also was there on Snow Leopard.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 34412] FILEOPEN: Import and export from and to MS Excel does not take care of the font of the cell in conditional format definitions

2012-12-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34412

I've analysed what is going on in more detail. Here are some simple steps to
take to show what a mess we have here:
1Create 4 lines of data and 4 new styles with different background colours
2save as .ods
3close
4open
5create conditional formatting separately on A1 and B1 with formulas like
left(b1)=”s” - four conditions
6Save, close
7open - The 4 new styles remain – everything is still working ok
8save as .xlsx (XML 2007) - The 4 new styles remain – formulas remain
correct
9close
10open New styles have gone. There are 8 generated ones. Conditional
formatting is garbage

11replace step 8 by save as .xlsx (XML 2003) Gives error message that
conditional formatting can’t be saved

12replace step 8 by save as .xlsx (LO XML) The 4 new dtyles remain –
formulas remain correct
13close
14open New styles have gone. There are 8 generated ones. Conditional
formatting is garbage – all formulas refer to B1

15replace step 8 by save as .xls (97/2000/XP/2003/) The 4 new styles remain
– formulas remain correct
16close This shouldn’t work. .xls does not support more than 3 conditions
per cell
17open New styles remain. There are 32 generated styles (4 tests x 8
cells). Conditional formatting retained, using the new styles

NB If you create conditional formatting on A1:B1 using formulas like
LEFT($B1)=”s” the result of copy and special paste of formats gives garbage
values for the tests

Will add the .ods spreadsheet so above can be tested

If you create conditional formatting on A1:B1 using four formulas all like
LEFT($B1)=”s” the result of copy A1:B1 and paste special of formats only to eg
A2:B4 gives garbage values for the tests.

Setting up conditional formatting separately on A1 and B1 each using four
formulas like LEFT(B1)=s and then doing copy and paste special of formate
only to eg A2:B4 gives the correct result.

There is something clearly going wrong here in my first point, so setting
status back to NEW.

I can confirm, using a live cd, also using English language in UI. It happens
with default font sizes and dpi, that is size 9 for all fonts and 8 for small
and toolbar (system settings - Application appearance - Fonts).
If you set font size to 11 and 10 respectively the problem disappears, or if
you force dpi to 120.
The same problem is also in the dialog
So seems that there is some wrong calculation of spaces/resize.
See attachments (also taken from Kubuntu 13.04 KDE 4.10, but same problem there
as well since LiBo version is 3.6.2.2 as well).

What do you mean with: printer icon does recognize printer?

Do you mean: the icon in your LibreOffice toolbar (Print File Directly)?

Thanks in advance,

I've to admit that maybe the good work is done by gtk2-engine-oxygen more than
the libreoffice-kde. I've removed libreoffice-kde and installed libreoffice-gtk
and things look the same if not better (i.e. bug #57089 seems solved).
If you remove gtk2-engines-oxygen instead the integration disappears at all
level (look and system dialogs, like file open).
We need a developer with a broader picture of the situation to understand if
libreoffice-kde is obsolete thanks to new KDE ability to nicely integrate GTK
aps.

Removing libreoffice-kde package, installing libreoffice-gtk and relying only
to gtk2-engine-oxygen fixes the problem as well (see #49858).
Unfortunately I don't have a deep understanding of this stuff, hope some
developer will be able to see the problem in a higher level - wider
prospective.
KDE users deserve a optimal integration of LiBo :)

I've tested in Kubuntu 12.10 live CD, LiBo 3.6.2, KDE 4.9.2.
- With only libreoffice-kde installed, the single click is respected
- With both libreoffice-kde and libreoffice-gtk installed, the single click is
respected
- With ONLY libreoffice-gtk installed, look and feel is very oxygen thanks to
KDE DE integration of GTK, but single click works only for files, not
directories
I'm using packages from the distribution that I think is what most people do,
so I set it as resolved but if the reporter can test again and find the issue
still exists with a stable LiBo, possibly latest = 3.6, I will open again

I can confirm with Libo 3.6.2 and kde 4.9.x, but wondering: with those
settings, except the menu that are still visible in KDE apps while are not in
LiBo, is KDE still usable? In the attached screenshot you can see i.e. kcalc,
but all dialogs have buttons almost unreadable.
In any case you are raising a difference among LiBo and KDE that probably
should be investigated and solved (I remember an old bug about almost
unreadable tooltips due to something like that)

I've installed LibreOffice 4 beta 2 from Linux x86_64 rpm packages on Fedora

LibreOffice kde-integration is useless because it's for KDE 3: it should be
removed (or maybe deprecated and renamed, like kde3-integration, in order
 to avoid misunderstandings).

It looks to me like proper kde4 packages are built (for fc 19):
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/rpminfo?rpmID=3569094

If there is an issue at all, IMHO you should discuss it in fedora bugzilla
since it looks like a packaging issue.

hi,

in your screenshot the button background has also been set to the same color
of button text and window background. This way you get an unusable color
scheme, but for the bug to be reproducible it is not required to set same color
also for button background.

As an example of a usable color scheme where the bug occours, please see the

since it looks like a packaging issue.

I'm talking about LibreOffice 4 beta 2 rpm official packages, not the Fedora
ones. kde-integration.

This has kde-integration for KDE 3 only:
http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/testing/4.0.0/rpm/x86_64/LibO-Dev_4.0.0.0.beta2_Linux_x86-64_install-rpm_en-US.tar.gz

This is for KDE 4: http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/rpminfo?rpmID=3569094

I'm reporting the bug here because this problem is not related with the Fedora
package, but with the one distributed on LibreOffice.org website.

Indeed libkdecore.so.4 is for KDE3, so I agree with the reporter.
@comment2 the appearance is provided by KDE gtk integration, but I've found
that removing the distro libreoffice-kde, LiBo looks the same but in file
dialog you loose the single click when clicking on *folders*, so seems that
gtk integration has a bug OR libreoffice-kde is providing something more.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58690] creating a chart hangs the system.

2012-12-31 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58690

--- Comment #6 from OldETC hlhow...@pacbell.net ---
The system fans come on, the system slows down greatly, Calc seems frozen, but
I can activate other windows using the activities button. I tried taking a
screen shot, but that was three minutes ago, and the file doesn't exist yet.
Slowed way down.

It has now been 10 minutes, and the screenshot file still doesn't exist. I
have no idea what calc is doing. There doesn't seem to be any disk activity,
nor do I get any error messages, nor does the system actually apear hung, only
Calc has stopped responding, not even the cancel button on the create chart
window.

I really need this to work, I am in the middle of creating two large documents.

Do you have any suggestions to debug this? Can I maybe invoke calc from the
command line with some debug arguments to get more error messages or something?

OK, some progress has been made. twenty minutes to do the one chart. This is
new, before it would not even generate the chart and sometimes would completely
crash the system.

I can still debug the issue if there is some command to let me see some log of
the chart applications operations.

I guess I could change the error to SLOWS the chart application tremendously

But this is still unconscienable on a 3.2GHz 6 processor system. And since I
need about 50 charts for each book, how long would that take?

Reports in Base are created directly or by a wizard. Both menu-entries start

from OOo appears and I am able to create old reports.
Many people have used this wizard before to get reports, which show the content
in a table-form. Why couldn't we get a menu-entry for this old wizard beside
the entries of the Report-Builder?

Current behavior:
Export creates a DIV TYPE=FOOTER which does not validate as HTML 4.01

Create validating HTML code. (Perhaps use CLASS if the content should be styled

I am not sure if I understand your problem correctly, however:

to insert multiple empty rows in calc, I can select the number of rows (e.g.
click and drag from 1 to 10 in the bar on the left side of the screen),
then select insert-rows to insert 10 empty rows at that position, moving the
rest of the content downward

to fill the lines with the same content as an existing line I can select a
single row (click on it on the left side of the screen) copy that, then select
the empty rows and insert it in all rows in one step or simply select the
fields I want to copy, then drag the handle in the bottom-right corner of the
selection downwards

@ Ron,
The bugzilla system starts all bugs as unconfirmed then with multiple reports
or qa reproduction the issue goes to New status. I added myself to CC: as
someone interested in BASIC implementation: I wanted to know if someone else
fixed it and to be able to find the bug later (without assigning myself).

On download+open of spreadsheet I get this warning:
The numbering add-in must be loaded for optimal toolbar and numbering behavior.
Please load this add-in to your Library directory.

then I get the error 23 message.

Definitely confirmed.

If LibreOffice BASIC does not implement support the OnSheetActivate event, this
could be a compile time error instead of a run-time error. Certainly the
message could be more helpful.

If these events are supported then that implementation appears broken (or again
at least unhelpful).

Either way, message needs improvement.
