[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64232] FILEOPEN: [FILEOPEN] [FORMATTING] [DATALOSS] Importing DOCX with default font 'Times New Roman' - shown as different font in Writer

2013-05-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64232

--- Comment #3 from Joel Madero jmadero@gmail.com ---
the file is not corrupt - Microsoft Office only supports an older version of
open standards (ODF), so when you try to save with the new standards which is
default for LibreOffice it doesn't know what to do and says there is an error -
quite tricky on Microsoft's part to say the least - especially if MSO 2013 is
still doing this. This was well known with 2007 and 2010, it's unfortunate that
they are still trying to blame their lack of support on the file itself (thus
blaming corrupt file, vs. sorry we don't support this).

@ Joren - sure I'll test, I still haven't actually installed MSO 2013 - just
sitting there collecting dust like 2010 is ;) But I will try to install or test
on a system that has it already - give me a day or two :)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 44269] PRINTING: Printing problem with form contains text field with «Multi-line with formatting »

2013-05-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44269

--- Comment #4 from Owen Genat owen.ge...@gmail.com ---
Created attachment 78898
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=78898action=edit
Edited copies of form_test.odt under different platform/LO as well as
corresponding generated PDFs.

Setting Component to Printing and PDF Export as per suggestion in comment #2.
This would appear to be consistent with the bug title.

I agree with comment #3 and recommend closing this bug as TDF/LO v4.0.2.2 under
Ubuntu 10.04 x86_64, MacOS 10.6.8, and Win7HP, no longer produces the field
overflow indicated in the original report. Under TDF/LO v3.5.7.2 the overflow
is clearly apparent as originally reported.

The problem fields in the original report were TextBoxStart, TextBox, TextBox1
(as indicated) and the first pair of OPEN_DOSS1 fields. Regardless of whether
these are set to use a Type type of Multi-line or Multi-line with
formatting, the results under v4.0.2.2 are that the fields display as
expected. Please refer the files in the attached ZIP. All PDFs ending with
_multi-line_with_formatting are generated from the original ODT in comment
#0. All PDFs ending with only _multi-line are generated from the
corresponding enclosed ODT, which has had the fields mentioned edited as
described.

Under MacOS and Win7HP the original formatting does not appear to be retained.
I am not sure why this is the case but it may be an artefact of the different
method of PDF generation used on those platforms. In any case it is a separate
matter from the original report.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61788] EDITING: Impossible to dragdrop text from other applications to LibreOffice

2013-05-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61788

--- Comment #4 from V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu ---
Workikng with LibreOffice 4.0.2.2 on Fedora 18 Linux, 32-bit, GNOME 3 Desktop,
and FireFox 20.0

If dragging highlighted text from Firefox I also get the
pre class=bz_comment_text id=comment_text_0Steps to reproduce: and /pre
tags.

But I think those tags are a Firefox issue (and perhaps some other apps).
Because, when highlighting content in Firefox, a right mouse click shows a
context menu that includes View Selection Source that opens a pop-up frame
titled DOM Source of Selection - Mozilla Firefox

The tagged Doccument Object Model content of the Source of Selection is exactly
what is dropped into Writer when dragged.

In other GNOME 3 desktop applications -- GEdit, Dictionary-- highlighted text
can be draged and droped into Writer with no formatting issues.

So could be a non-issue with Linux and actually an OSX only issue.

didn't appear)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64254] : why do you use radians instead of degrees?

2013-05-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64254

--- Comment #2 from alfiodemart...@hotmail.com ---
I am not sure of what you mean but if you have trigonometry calculations
that involve angles you usually have them in degrees since a protractor
or anything like it gives readings in degrees and not in radians. Also
any architectural drawing is in degrees and when someone refers to a 90
(or 30 or 60 or 45) degree angle I know what he means but if he gives it
in radians I have no clue unless we have a calculator handy, well
actually not a calculator since it works in degrees too unless it has a
function to convert degrees in radians. In all my mathematics classes we
never ever used radians but only degrees.
For this I fail to understand the use of radians instead of degrees.

Thanks David.
Will try that.

We still didn't manage to find out why or when these form:form tags got into
the document, which caused the incredibly slowdown and memory consumption.

But you mentioned 'Hidden paragraphs', and I know some of our document authors
were playing with that feature, it might as well be the root cause of the
problem.
So, perhaps, once you toggle that feature on/off, you get the form:form tags.

I will test this and give feedback.

I did not mean saving DOCX as ODF and trying to open it in MS Word.
I meant working only with DOCX files.

Open DOCX in LO - save it as NEW.DOCX - open new NEW.DOCX in Word = Boom,
corrupt.
Why would Word say the DOCX is corrupted unless LO somehow had a bug exporting?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 63561] Writer inserts extra Tab character in .docx documents

2013-05-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63561

--- Comment #11 from Owen Genat owen.ge...@gmail.com ---
Created attachment 78908
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=78908action=edit
Before and after editing (e) example DOCXs under Linux (L) and Win7HP (W).

To clarify:
Lv3572.docx = DOCX created under Ubuntu TDF/LOv3.5.7.2 with TABs at 36 72 pt
/ half and one inch / 720 1440 pos.
Lv3572e4022.docx = DOCX created under Ubuntu TDF/LOv3.5.7.2 and subsequently
edited under Ubuntu TDF/LOv4.0.2.2 to remove TAB at 36 pt / half inch / 720.
Wv4002e.docx = DOCX created under Win7HP TDF/LOv4.0.2.2 and subsequently edited
to remove TAB at 36 pt / half inch / 720.

This no longer appears to be a bug under v4.0.2.2 for the creation of NEW
files. It is only a problem if editing a 2007/2010 DOCX file - created under
v3.5.7.2 - with v4.0.2.2 (or later as indicated in comment #6). In this case
the indicated actions do not remove the TAB. I have tested this under:

Windows 6.1.7601 SP1 Build 7601: v4.0.2.2 (Build ID:
4c82dcdd6efcd48b1d8bba66bfe1989deee49c3)
Ubuntu 10.04 x86_64: v4.0.2.2 (Build ID:
4c82dcdd6efcd48b1d8bba66bfe1989deee49c3) and v3.5.7.2 (Build ID:
3215f89-f603614-ab984f2-7348103-1225a5b)

The document.xml file in v3.5.7.2 and v4.0.2.2 edited DOCXs appear to be
identical, when conducting a rudimentary test. The differences appear to be in
the styles.xml file, which contains this additional bit of code in the v3.5.7.2
version (even after editing by v4.0.2.2):

w:tabs
 w:tab w:leader=none w:pos=720 w:val=left/
/w:tabs

This would appear to be the cause of the problem in DOCX files created by older
versions of LO.

I would think this bug could be closed now as being RESOLVED.

Confirming. Very awkward indeed.

How to reproduce :
1) Open test document.
2) Press the Command+P keys
3) In the print dialog, select a page range choosing from 5 to 5 (i.e. from
page 5 to page 5)
4) Error message is displayed No document selected
5) The preview display then changes in the print preview of the print dialog
and removes the last page. It is now impossible to select page 5 of the
document.

--- Comment #8 from t...@tim-passingham.co.uk ---
I started with a 1.6 Jre and then changed to move along with Oracle's releases
through many versions of 1.7 to the latest version 21.

I have to admit I've never deliberately tried a 32 bit version. As seems to be
the way once one tries to analyse a transient fault it hasn't shown itself with
crashes for a week or so.

I'm still plagued by databases randomly refusing to open several times, but
have no idea where to start looking for a cause. I have recreated my user
profile from scratch, to no effect.

Since I can't reliably reproduce or demonstrate these problems (I wish I could)
I guess I should close this report off.

Testing with another document that had no embedded images shows that the
problem lies in the document itself or the way it is being parsed or fed to the
printer subsystem.

The problem is document specific, the question now is to find out what exactly
triggers the problem.

I tried removing the manual page breaks - no difference.
I tried deleting some of the images, starting from the end of the document -
no difference.

@Bernd : we need a minimal document that reproduces the problem - there are
currently too many possibilities to be able to single out where the problem is
coming from in the document you have posted.

The same behavior with LO4.0.0.3rc, Win7-64, Visio 2010, but pasting into
 *.odt (Writer).
 2 cases:
 a) Paste
 - copy Visio drawing/ part of drawing

a1) changing the zoom factor (View/ Zoom...)
a2) save and reopen the *.odt file

 b) Paste Special)

 - when saving the *.odt file and reopen: drawing size is OK (and can be

 60..70% in frame

I confirm behaviour of case a) with LO 4.0.3.3, Win7-32 and MS Visio 2007.
I cannot reproduce case b); before and after saving or editing the size remains
OK (100% in frame).

2013-05-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64236

--- Comment #2 from trevor.jenk...@suneidesis.com ---
(In reply to comment #1)
 Hi trevor,
you can dock the toolbar in the same position, with/without editing comments
 to avoid the scroll up/down.

Just tried Lock Toolbar Position on the toolbars visible before Insert
Comment. It doesn't help because the Styles and Formatting toolbar becomes
un-locked for Insert Comment. Or rather a variant of Styles and Formatting
replaces the normal one; it is anonymous because right-clicking for the context
menu provides no name.

Technically yes - or is this a ODF limitation?

I haven't checked ODF but would not worry that much about it for charts. If it
is technically implemented it means we surely only have some uno problems and
ui changes in chart2 to implement it.

 Hi!

I can confirm this behavior, and the versions too.
Operating system: Windows 7 64 bit

Therefore I mark it as NEW.

The document crashes on Linux Mint 14 x64 with Version: 4.1.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: c458ea6d15465d9dada06f259946f854e9e5ccf
Document opens correctly using 4.0.3.3

Is it possible to provide clear step-by-step how we can reproduce that document
from scratch? When I create a simple bullet list, export it to docx it reopens
correctly.

Thanks,
Joren

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64254] : why do you use radians instead of degrees?

2013-05-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64254

--- Comment #5 from alfiodemart...@hotmail.com ---
Yes I am aware of the formulas but most people think in degrees and not
in radians so this behavior is futile, useless and counterproductive
also since most calculators work in degrees and if you refer to an angle
of a triangle you refer to it as 30 degrees or do you think we should
refer to it in radians? Protractors or any angle measuring device give
readings in degrees which we have to re-translate to radians to put them
in a spreadsheet?
Please get real.
In any case I am using SIN, COS and TAN formulas.

the correct thing. If you use a single minus then it seems to change the
negative cells to positive, so then you have to use the second minus to
actually subtract the negative cells. This is interesting, I wonder if all
 spreadsheets would do the same.

Excel 2010 does the same.

I think all this is not a bug - therefore marking it as RESOLVED NOTABUG.

Thanks Bernd,

I have found a workaround, and what might be the cause of the problem.

Reset the margins to say, 1cm top and bottom, and the I can print out page 4 on
its own just fine (in fact any page I choose). You can then reset the margins
again to the value you want and the printing will continue to work.

This would indicate that the problem lies in the initial margin settings.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64275] New: EDITING: Cursor position is lost when moving the cursor up and down

2013-05-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64275

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 64275
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: EDITING: Cursor position is lost when moving the
cursor up and down
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: patrickmood...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.2.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

When editing a document in Writer, the position of the cursor on the line is
not maintained when moving up or down through intermediate lines shorter than
the original position or the cursor on the line.

Steps to reproduce:
1. In a document with many lines of text with differing lengths, place the
cursor near the end of one of the longer lines.
2. Using the arrow keys on the keyboard move the cursor up or down through an
intermediate line which is shorter than the original cursor position.

Current behaviour:
The cursor position is reset to the length of the shortest intermediate line.
Sometimes, if the cursor has only been moved up or down by 2 lines, the
position is maintained as expected. However this appears to be a rare
occurrence, and I could not see the difference in the scenario where this
worked and where it did not.

Expected behaviour:
As long as no further editing or sideways movement has been done, the position
on the line of the cursor should be maintained, as near as possible, for each
line moved to using the up and down keys. If the cursor is moved up or down by
any number of lines, and returned to the original line using only the up and
down keys (or the page up and page down keys) it should be in exactly the
same place it started from.
Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.0.2.2 release

As I'm running Kubuntu 10.04 LTS (64bit) on both devices there is not offered a
LO 4.x to update. Only LO 3.6.6, but I haven't updated yet.

Will try to install LO 4.x if possible. Can also try on a new Kubuntu inst in a
VM. But this wouldn't help me as I'm not able to update my productive
installations in the next time.

I am adding bug 36799, it is extremely problematic for OSX users (and
apparently some Linux users), and seems to be linked to page size defaults,
which in turn causes printing to screw up. Unfortunately, it has been around
since LO 3.3.x, and was reset in the initial bugzilla clean-up fiasco. Since
then, it has languished in purgatory.

I redid the process on Win 7 Starter (without Java installed), LOdev 4.1 - to
the same effect (my WinXP has Java, so I gather its presence is irrelevant).

As for step-by-step. Well, it's pretty obvious. Click Menu Format Bullets and
Numbering Graphics choose a desing of your choice write a few lines
click SAVE (or Save a copy. Reopen file. That's it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 63398] After Record Change event triggered too early in BASE

The UNO oneway call concept is documented at
http://web.archive.org/web/20100711070220/http://udk.openoffice.org/common/man/execution.html
UNO Execution Model (http://udk.openoffice.org/common/man/execution.html
appears to have been lost inadvertently). It was only ever translated to
asynchronous calls in the case of URP bridge implementations that did not
override it to use synchronous calls, and this overriding has ubiquitously been
done for ages, first explicitly when setting up bridges and then implicitly in
the bridge code itself.

That is why it was deemed OK to drop the oneway keyword from UNOIDL with
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=90eac3e69749a9227c4b6902b1f3cef1e338c6d1
API CHANGE remove [oneway] method attributes. (And that in turn is the
reason why the new TypeDescriptionManager implementation in
cppuhelper/source/typemanager.cxx always returns false for isOneway.) What has
apparently been overlooked by commit 90eac3e69749a9227c4b6902b1f3cef1e338c6d1
is that there were calls to isOneway that required adaptation and/or could be
cleaned up.

svxform::FormScriptListener::impl_allowAsynchonousCall_nothrow
(svx/source/form/fmscriptingenv.cxx) apparently got added with

INTEGRATION: CWS dba205a (1.1.2); FILE ADDED, presumably to fix
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=65420 OO crashes when 'revieve
focus' event switches on the Filter Mode. It is unclear to me though why the
decision whether to call listeners directly or to postpone that via
Application::PostUserEvent should be based on whether the listener method is
marked as oneway. I have an idea, but the fix is risky, and checks need to
be made whether existing macros are affected, so this will be for 2.0.5 only
in https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=65420#c10 might be a hint
that this was done in an attempt to reduce the risk for regressions.

This report is a misunderstanding of a feature caused by user error and not a
bug. Grouping sheets this way is a common feature with many use cases and
selected sheets are indicated by changing their name tags' color to white. Yes,
you have to be careful using this for massive changes (undo levels), but the
feature itself is well known and useful. Excel works the same way.

Therefore marked as RESOLVED NOTABUG.

Do not hesitate to reopen in case of mistriage.

BTW:
A general warning displayed when there are more operations to proceed than
current undo levels could be useful though. This enhancement request should be
filed as a separate report.

I successful installed LO Version 4.0.2.2 (Build ID:
4c82dcdd6efcd48b1d8bba66bfe1989deee49c3) on my Kubuntu 10.04.

But importing (create new a text doc, then Insert - File) the given PDF from
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/e/e3/0201WG34-IntroducingWriter.pdf
is still not possible. Error message: Read-Error. Error reading file

Did it with a user which had never used LO before (for sure I did this: rm -r
~/.libreoffice ~/.config/libreoffice).

Additional I've found that other people with newer Ubuntu have also problems:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/290423/how-to-import-a-pdf-in-libreoffice-under-ubuntu-all-pages-are-blank

So at the end I'll get rid of LO and give OpenOffice a try!!!

I did some more research. I have libreoffice 3.5 and 4.0 installed on the same
linux (Ubuntu 12.04).

With libreoffice 3.5 it works and the pdf is generated in headless mode. With
4.0 version it doesn't work in headless mode.

It happens only with the one particular docx document (which I cannot share for
privacy reasons, unfortunately)
