I think this bug may have been caused because some part of my OS/ LO software
was corrupted by frequent improper shutdowns because of some previous hardware
issues.

So, this bug may not be a bug after all because once I did a fresh install both
these extensions seems to be working just fine.

Also LO Version 4.0.2.2 (Build ID: 400m0(Build:2)) is very fast to load on
Ubuntu 13.04. Almost as fast as the Gnome-calculator

Thank you so much.

May I close this 'bug' as RESOLVED?

--- Comment #8 from Michael Meeks michael.me...@novell.com ---
It is wonderful to have a trace; it looks like something is bad around:

#4  0xb00eee21 in oox::vml::ShapeTypeContext::onCreateContext(long,
oox::AttributeList const) () from
/opt/libreoffice4.0/program/../program/libooxlo.so

but the trace is not so helpful. Pablo - what would be lovely is if you can
binary chop the file in half - each time exporting it as .docx and loading it
in libreoffice to reproduce the crash. Most likely you can chop everything out
except this VML shape (a drawing of some kind). Clearly- save as a new file
each time.

Hopefully you can then remove the text and turn this into a tiny file we can
use as a regression test: which would be even better - so the problem never
comes back again. That also removes any confidential information (I hope).

Without that it's going to be rather hard to fix this.

Thanks for filing ! looking forward to a smaller doc [ or you can send it
confidentially to me by E-mail if you want: michael.meeks at suse.com.

Sure - it could be an easy-hack, but it would take some code pointers. I'll
add the tag for ProposedEasyHack. The 'properties' are saved in a separate OLE2
binary stream which (IIRC) shares a reasonably common syntax with other modules
like writer.

Having said that - IIRC there is data in there we need, and IIRC it used to
work so ... not sure. Also - it needs confirming by someone with MS Office.

HTH.

If so - we should still fix the long hang of course; bfoman - I see you did
interrupt it in what is prolly this long hang; the thread you interrupted is
not the slow one doing the work (I think). Any chance of a trace of all
threads' status at that point ? I'd expect the grammar checker to be
mis-behaving in some expensive way :-)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64785] New: EDITING: Print ranges (rows to repeat) changes after document is closed and open again

2013-05-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64785

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 64785
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: EDITING: Print ranges (rows to repeat) changes after
document is closed and open again
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: lili...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.3.3 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 79564
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=79564action=edit
Steps to reproduce (steps 1-6)

Problem description:

If print range (rows to repeat) is defined as $1:$2 and among that range
merged cells exit, when document is saved, closed and opened again it only
shows $2... this affects printing next time document is open because it only
uses second row to repeat on every page.

Steps to reproduce:
1. In A1 write Name
2. Merge A1 and A2
3. In B1 write Test
3. Merge B1 and C1
4. In B2 write Mark
5. In C2 write Comment
6. Fill some data for these columns so at least two pages appear
7. Select from menu Format - Print Ranges - Edit
8. In Rows to repeat field type $1:$2
9. Go to Print Preview so check that both two rows are repeated at every page
10. Save and close document
11. Open document again and check print preview, as well as menu Format -
Print Ranges - Edit... now only second row is repeated.

Current behavior:

Print range is not saved correctly (only $2)
Only second row is repeated even though both rows are defined.

Expected behavior:

Print ranges should be saved correctly ($1:$2)
Both rows should be repeated at every page.

Operating System: Ubuntu
Version: 4.0.3.3 release

Personally I think it's not a change that will lead to trouble .. ;)

I think if it affects only new files, I am agree that can't lead to trouble.

But IMO better ask the UX-list, maybe with a short term to apply if nobody is
against. This allow people know about it.

(In reply to comment #3)
 @Joren:

The Default button don't sets back the standard of this dialog, it sets the
adjusted values as standard for Math (by default the dialog sets the
adjusted values only for the current formula). Therefore it's necessary to
 add this button again.

Oh, I see. Thanks for correcting me! I think I guessed the usecase to quickly.
I'm sorry for that.

In that case, lets mark it as NEW.

Kind regards,
Joren

 Hi,

 Thanks for reporting.

I can not reproduce this behavior using Linux Mint 15 x64 with LibreOffice
4.0.3.3. I downloaded randomly an animated GIF and inserted into the header of
a text document. When I double click (or first select the header and then
select the image) on the image I can delete it as it should be.

@Bug reporter: is it possible to attach a sample document which you can
 reproduce this behavior?

 Thanks in advance,
 Joren

In master, Bjoern added this nice packagekit hook to allow people to install
the 'base' module - which (I guess) mostly fixes the user experience here for
Ubuntu.

I added a check for an exception on load there; we should silently fail in the
case that the database is not installed - better than a crash for sure. Since I
can't reproduce, testing is much appreciated ! :-)

Thanks for the trace bfoman - very helpful ...

Presumably the general issue is that if the printer doesn't claim to have

ZIP file which contains the original docx file and screenshots from google
drive, libreoffice 4.0.3.3 and Microsoft Office 2010

Problem description:
I have a docx file which contains two images in the top part of the document.
These images contain drop shadows and/or borders which look great when viewed
in Microsoft Office but look awful when viewed in LibreOffice 4.0.3.3.

Steps to reproduce:
1. open the docx file attached to this post.
2. compare to the attached screenshot on how it looks in Mircosoft Word 2010.

Current behavior:
Dropshadow is very hard and black (contains right angles)

Expected behavior:
Nice soft shadow like the MS Word version and the nice border around the FITA
logo in the top right of the document.

Operating System: Windows 7
Version: unspecified

Document variables, such as date(fixed), theme etc. display the variable name

Just try opening the attachment in 3.6.x and 4.0.3. By the way, the footer

--- Comment #3 from Petr Mladek pmla...@suse.cz ---
I add Kendy into CC who did setup the update mechanism.

First, lets clear up the version naming convention. The version X.Y.Z consists
of:

+ X - major version - new major release appears every few ears; brings new
features and
even very big ones; the initial release usually brings some
regressions

+ Y - minor version - new minor release appears every half a year; brings
new features and
many fixes; the initial release usually brings some regressions

+ Z - micro versions - few bug fix releases appears regularly after each
major or minor release;
these contain only selected bugfixes; we do our best to fix
regressions, critical, annoying,
or trivial bugs and do not cause new regressions = each new
bugfix release is more
stable than the previous one

AFAIK, we use the following strategy now. X.Y.Z users are informed when:

+ X.Y.Z+1 - any new bugfix release of the same major and minor release is
available,
  e.g. 3.5.3 user is informed about 3.5.4, 3.5.4, 3.5.6

+ X.Y+1.Z - new minor release of the same or higher micro version
(bugfix-release level) is
available; e.g. 3.5.3 user is informed about 3.6.3,
3.6.4, 3.6.5, 3.6.6; this user
is not informed about 3.6.2 because the 2nd bugfix
release has lower level of
stability than the 3rd one.

+ X+1.0.Z - new major version of the same micro version is available; same
logic as with
minor release; it appears 6 months after the last minor
release, so we do not
expect any real revolution and unstability

So, it might be possible to add a checkbox whether the user want to be informed
about bugfix release or about minor releases on the same bugfix level.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64789] FILEOPEN: docx opening with images containing drop shadows

2013-05-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW
 Whiteboard|BSA |BSA, bibisected40
 CC||jmadero@gmail.com
Version|unspecified |4.0.0.3 release
 Ever confirmed|0 |1

--- Comment #1 from Joel Madero jmadero@gmail.com ---
This one is a bit tricky, what I think happened is that prior to 4.0.0.3
release drop shadows on images for docx just weren't supported. What I can
confirm is that prior to version 4 it looks like images imported correctly just
without the shadow - now they import incorrectly with the shadow. Either way
it's wrong but what I did was bibisect to at least give an idea as to where the
code is, IMO this is not a regression, just not the greatest filter for
importing shadowed images from docx.

I have been able to confirm the issue on:
Version 3.6.6.2
Platform: Bodhi Linux 2.2 x64
+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +
As I've been able to confirm this problem on an earlier release I am changing
the version number as version is the earliest version that we can confirm the
bug, we use comments to say that the bug exists in newer versions as well.

Marking as:

New (confirmed)
Normal - can prevent high quality and/or professional work
High - broken enough with just regular shadowed images, seems like this could
affect quite a few users.

Keywords -

Whiteboard Status - bibisect40 (just for code pointers as I don't think it's a
regression)

+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +
LibreOffice is powered by a team of volunteers, every bug is confirmed

Hm really not enough information here for us to triage.

Can you try to get a backtrace on the crash? Marking as NEEDINFO. If you are
unable to get a backtrace, I'll see what other info I can request to try to
track this down - in general we haven't had reports of a lot of random crashes
with LibreOffice 4 so it's strange that you're seeing this on Windows Linux.

What locale are you using by the way?

Marking as NEEDINFO as we need a sample document.

Also, are these tables made in Writer or Spreadsheet? Lastly, how thick are the
borders? I know there is some issue(s) with border thickness showing up
invisible with printing.

Once you attach document, mark as UNCONFIRMED and we will investigate

i got this exact behaviour on a production (k)ubuntu box. The package installed
is libreoffice 4.0.2-0ubuntu1 and dmesg shows

[34189.817630] traps: soffice.bin[2260] general protection ip:7f5e92d773bd
sp:7fffd87bd0f0 error:0 in libmergedlo.so[7f5e9211+2e1a000]

The same kind of crash happens very often on this user's box. Several times a
day, usually after ~1h of use. The automatic backup is usually of no help which
makes the thing worse :-(

I can't get a backtrace on this user laptop.

--- Comment #1 from Joel Madero jmadero@gmail.com ---
Thank you for reporting this issue! I have been able to confirm the issue with
the earliest version of bibisect:
Version 3.6.0.0.alpha1
Platform: Bodhi Linux 2.2 x64
+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +
As I've been able to confirm this problem on an earlier release I am changing
the version number as version is the earliest version that we can confirm the
bug, we use comments to say that the bug exists in newer versions as well.

Marking as:

New (confirmed)
Minor - doesn't prevent high quality work, if you want to crop, there is
another way to do so
Low - not used often (intersection) in general compared to a lot of other
features

LibreOffice is powered by a team of volunteers, every bug is confirmed
(triaged) by human beings who mostly give their time for free. We invite you to
join our triaging by checking out this link:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugTriage

There are also other ways to get involved including with marketing, UX,
documentation, and of course developing -
http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/.

Lastly, good bug reports help tremendously in making the process go smoother,
please always provide reproducible steps (even if it seems easy) and attach any
and all relevant material
