[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51609] Images pasted from the web should be embedded by default

2013-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51609

The CTRL+SHFT+V command strips off all images and pastes only the text. That is
not what we want!

I agree that if the user wants to copy the text from the website, why would he
only keep the links, rather than embedding the image itself in the copied
article?

That makes sense only if the images are likely to keep changing (e.g. some
chart/graph that keeps updating with time). It does NOT make sense with MOST
images, because they are static.

In fact, when we break the links (EditLinks... menu), LibreOffice downloads
all the images once again; although the images are already there in the cache.
Thus we end up downloading the images twice!

Half a year passed and No response. Can someone check? I know it is not of
the highest importance but I use this function every day and merging cells
again in the writer is really annoying. Since it is already confirmed PLEASE
assign this bug to the responsibles.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 71207] New: In a article pasted from Internet, command to replace thumbnails with original images

2013-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71207

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 71207
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: In a article pasted from Internet, command to replace
thumbnails with original images
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: narayana...@outlook.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.3.2 rc
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem: If we copy an internet web page and paste it in the Writer,
LibreOffice inserts the images as linked entities, rather than embedding an
independent copy of the image in the odt file. To view the images, we need a
live internet connection.

A bug #51609 is already raised about this.

However, the correcting action for that bug needs to take care of another
related factor: Many of these images are actually a lower-resolution
thumbnail of the actual image that is larger and has a higher resolution.

Typically, these thumbnails are of so low resolution that they cannot show the
point in sharp, clear details. Therefore, the user has to click on each
thumbnail to see the larger image.

In such cases, breaking the links would mean losing the link to the larger
images forever.

Therefore the Writer should first replace the thumbnails by the original
high-resolution version, and then break the link.

This can be introduced as a manual step. (Edit Links Images Replace
thumbnails with original.)

The backtrace in attachment 88510 very much looks like either the SdrOle2Obj
instance in frame 4 (or at least its mpImpl) is already destroyed and its
memory overwritten, or the static_cast in frame 5
SvxOle2Shape::setPropertyValueImpl case OWN_ATTR_PERSISTNAME is wrong.

Great work! The only module that remains is libxmlsec. Then there are parts of
extras (the additional templates, galleries etc. for OxygenOffice). I think we
should move these into a separate module, e.g., external/accessories, to keep
things consistent.

Please report it as a false-positive to your anti-virus vendor; the number of
such false positives you get is a pretty straight metric of the quality of the
heuristics in your AV product I'm afraid. AV vendors tend to pile up hacks to
work around these false-positives, I guess they need another one :-) The
binaries are signed so ...

Not our bug = closing.

watched closely for fixes over the coming months and those fixes merged into

That isn't acceptable if it is the intended behavior! If I were entering a

am only making a list of words in cells as follows:
 the

 truth

However, what I end up with is:
 the

That should not be intended behavior!!

This should be removed to bring it in-line with the same page for Windows.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Visit http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/installation/mac/ or

2. Notice the text in the browser tab and browser window title. For the Mac
page it states LibreOffice 3 and for the Linux page LibreOffice 3.3. Refer
attached screenshots.
3. Now visit http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/installation/windows/ and
compare. Not version number is shown.

Current behavior: (Old) version number is shown.

With Linux it looks far more stable. Less jittering! But it occurs sometimes if

It jitters in the docked and undocked state.

If someone in the know of Arabic contributed the locale data files ... or could
we reference one of ar_DZ.xml ar_EG.xml ar_LB.xml ar_OM.xml ar_SA.xml
ar_TN.xml and just replace the currency (which would be easiest) if names of
calendar items, formats and separators don't differ?

If we can't derive from one of those locale data and a completely new locale
data file is needed then please see

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 71200] Entering the word true in a spreadsheet cell

2013-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon

It *is* intended behavior, as in most cases by inserting the word 'true'
(without quotation marks) in Calc the user would expect it to be related /
interpreted as a boolean value.

To insert a simple text, you could set the cell as text (ctrl+1 numbers -
text category - OK) and then insert the word in the specific cell. Or, use a
single quotation mark, as in 'true (without the double quotation marks).

Regards,
Ady.

This happens frequently to me with Impress. I will open or create a file. I
modify the presentation in some way and either Save or Save As the file. The
file seems to save, the progress bar moves across the screen, all seems well
but LibreOffice then stalls and becomes unresponsive. I've waited many minutes
(5) hoping that the program would become reactive again so I can continue but
the only option is to stop the program. When I restart LibreOffice I am given
the option to recover the file. Sometimes the recovery works, sometimes not.
Saving a file is such a basic operation. Can you please fix this?

Will attach some screenshots comparing a normal gtk app showing a listview of a

What you can notice there among other things is that listview cells/items in

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70236] FILEOPEN: Cannot connect to .accdb file in LibreOffice 4.1

2013-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70236

--- Comment #2 from Ben Trewern ben.trew...@hotmail.com ---
After some more investigation you can open an .accdb file in multiple ways i.e.
using an ADO or ODBC connection. This I suppose can be used as a workaround
but I am always dubious having another layer between the database and the front
end.

Even opening old .odb files with LO 4.1.x does not allow connection to the
.accdb file. When I try I get:

The connection to the data source xxx could not be established.

SQL Status: 3343

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 71165] VIEWING: Aliased Type

2013-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Hi,

Just text, no graphics, in Writer. Checking and unchecking both text boxes
appers to have no effect at all on any font.

It appears the aliasing only occurs on a few Microsoft fonts Arial, Calibri,
Verdana. Third party fonts render perfectly.

Comment # 1 on bug 71165 from Jean-Baptiste Faure There is 2 checkboxes
relatives to anti-aliasing, one for screen fonts and one
for graphics.
Help says:
1/
Screen font antialiasing
Select to smooth the screen appearance of text.
Enter the smallest font size to apply antialiasing.

2/
Use Anti-Aliasing
When supported, you can enable and disable anti-aliasing of graphics. With
anti-aliasing enabled, the display of most graphical objects looks smoother and
with less artifacts.

When I uncheck the first checkbox the text seems to be still antialiased.
When I uncheck the second one, the effect is visible for a presentation with
graphics in slideshow mode.

Which one did you test ?

Best regards. JBF

The attached screenshot demonstrates that the navigator does not ellipsize the
text of its listview items, so if you have a long header there you end up with
an annoying horizontal scrollbar.

I would recommend automatically ellipsizing (shortening with ...) using pango
instead, and showing a tooltip with the full-length string when the mouse
hovers the item.

This is, arguably, one of the most pressing bugs in Draw (perhaps all of

anything but the most basic diagrams. This has been around for months (at

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70703] Base is crashing frequently when EDITING data and switching Forms

2013-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70703

--- Comment #25 from t...@tim-passingham.co.uk ---
I'm still hoping that someone will look at this at some point. I have spent
countless hours trying to circumvent it and to replicate in a simpler form.

I have done some experiments which may shed some light on possible causes.

I have a form (A) with a subform (S). In subform (S) I go to a 'new record',
and then use a button to select another form (B) which will determine part of
the essential content of subform (S). This invokes a dialogue, which I use to
open the form (B). All is fine so far.

On form (B) I 'select' the item I want. This invokes a macro to store the key
to the selected record in subform (S) and then close form (B). At the point at
which this value is stored in subform (S) the 'beforeupdate' event is triggered
in subform (S) (and it seems this usually happens before the calling macro
ends). The calling form (A) and subform (S) may be made visible before or
after this value is stored (I have tried both with no change to the result).

This beforeupdate event does a number of calculations and database lookups to
complete the data required for the record in subform (S). It is invoked twice
- once for the database form and once for the document (as is true for all
beforeupdate events - strange are the ways of LibreOffice Base events). The
second call does almost nothing. There is also an AfterUpdate event macro
which does almost nothing (it used to but I suppressed it in order to find the
cause of the crash).

If I let all this run it crashes every time.

If I place a breakpoint in the beforeupdate event (with the Basic IDE) at a
point that is invoked only once, and wait briefly before resuming execution, it
does not crash. I tried inserting a 'wait 2000' instead of a breakpoint, but
that did not work.

Other examples of the crash are less repeatable, which made me think it is
related to some sort of timing issue between screen handling and macros running
in the background. I have found that when there is a lot of macro processing
going on at the time a form is being updated and receiving the focus on screen,
crashes are more likely.

I have simplified my explanation of the number of macro actions occurring
somewhat, but the above gives the essence.

This one was rather tricky.

We need the EditEngine Modification handler of the inputbar that we are feeding
to be disabled while this dialog is open. Otherwise we end up in a situation
where...

a) this ScFormulaDlg changes the editengine
b) the modify callback gets called
c) which also modifies the editengine
d) on return from that modify handler the editengine attempts to use old node
pointers which were replaced and removed by c

We turn it off in the ctor and back on in the dtor, but if calc has to repaint,
e.g. when switching to another window and back, then in ScMultiTextWnd::Paint a
new editengine will have been created via GetEditView with its default
Modification handler enabled.

I would like to underline again that it is even worse than that.

I would not complain this loudly if for some versions of LibO there was no draw
and impress at all or if it was simply unusable.

The problem is that this defect makes LibO /appear/ useful, while it is in fact
actively destroying a potentially large amount of previous document preparation
work from the users. I am still through reconstructing my slides with LibO 4.0
and AOO 4.0.1. This is a huge issue, and the most damaging thing that could be
done to the perception of LibO and free software. People biten by this issue
may make the association 'It's free so it is risky. I must expect that it can
deteriorate my data in unpredictable ways.'.

Hence, again. Please, put a warning in the release notes for the 4.1 series
until this is fixed.

located at NAS using W7 explorer

Comment # 7 on bug 69568 from Maxim
(In reply to comment #6)
 Hi,
what is the solution they provide (RESOLVED) ?

Version 4.1.3.2 German does not yet work correct, V 4.2 not available as
final or as test version on homepage.
Hi,
The fix will be included in 4.1.4. In the meantime here is a workaround: Run
LibreOffice installation, choose 'Modify' and uncheck the installation of
Windows Explorer extensions.

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 71223
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FORMATTING: Incompatibility of Slide master formatting
in Impress(Libreoffice 4.0 vs 4.1)
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: minhsien0...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA PossibleRegression
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

The screenshot to explain this bug.

Problem description:
If the Slide master in a odp file was modified by Libreoffice 4.1, the changes
will be invalid in Libreoffice 4.0.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Libreoffice 4.1.X, create new odp file with Impress
2. Click View Master Slide Master, drag the border of text area to the
bottom (please take a look at attachment master_slide.png), then save and
quit the odp file.
3. Reopen the odp file with Libreoffice 4.0.X, click View Master Slide
Master, you can see the border of text area was restored to the unchanged
position.

Current behavior:
The formatting of master slide changed by Libreoffice 4.1 disappeared in
Libreoffice 4.0.

Expected behavior:
The formatting of master slide that changed in Libreoffice 4.1 should remain in
Libreoffice 4.0.

Thank you.
Operating System: Debian
Version: 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
Last worked in: 4.0.6.2 rc

Try to open this file with Libreoffice 4.0 and 4.1 respectively, you will see
the master slide looks different in different Libreoffice version(4.0 vs 4.1).

--- Comment #14 from Knaure griffiths2...@gmail.com ---
This behavior also exists in BASE. If you open a database table connected to a
txt file the first record(s) in the table won't display. That is, if you open
the table after first logging on you might see all the records. Then if you
close the view and reopen the first record will disappear. If you hit the
refresh button while in table view the top record will disappear. etc.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70653] EDITING: impossible to change existing math catalog element's font face without its name auto-switched to Unicode value

2013-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70653

--- Comment #1 from Yury yury.tarasiev...@gmail.com ---
The scenario when this is especially relevant, at least in my case, is as
follows:

1) One has an element in catalog, named THENAME

2) One wants to change something relatively minor in it, say, serifed font face
to sans-serifed one.

3) One selects the element to change and clicks 'Edit', then selects the font
face (other one than that's which is set already). Immediately two things may
happen:
3.1) glyph's unicode position is reset, either if it's not available in the new
face or, in some cases (Neo Euler-Asana Math), even if it IS available;
3.2) the name in the 'Symbol' field is reset to Ux pattern

4) Now one'd expect it'd be sufficient to set 'Symbol' back to what's edited
now (THENAME). However, if the field is set so, the old definition gets
activated again, in full (font face etc.).

... The AOO IA2 work will need to be
watched closely for fixes over the coming months and those fixes merged into
 the LO work.

Even sooner, as the AOO folks yesterday brought in the current Linux Foundation
A11y IAccessible2 IDL v1.3 ( URL
http://accessibility.linuxfoundation.org/a11yspecs/ia2/ia2_api_all.idl ) and
have refactored the ia2 branch to use it.

Seems like drag drop is freezing up KDE4, also it looks like a regression

This bug seems to be affecting quite a few users from the amount of

I was asked to send the sample files again, so I did.

I use LiO 4.1.2.3. and Windows 7.

The files come from my former PC with Windows XP that was destroyed by a Virus.
I could not reinstall Win XP (CD damaged?), and I don't want to switch between
two computers.

I downloaded a newer Version of Lotus Smart Suite on the Notebook I use now,
but even with this I can't open the lwp-files (keine zulässige
Win32-Anwendung).

Thanks!
