then the file opens without problem.

It takes me a very long time to save my 88 slide deck (much longer than to load
it) - you can load it as hybrid PDF here:

http://people.gnome.org/~michael/data/2014-04-26-story-of-libreoffice.pdf

Profiling it in callgrind overnight (yes it takes that long ;-) it turns out
that ~all of that time is consumed -loading- and de-compressing the images -
there is ~zero cost for exporting them (so I can only think that the binary
data is copied directly across to the new container - which is good).

That is really silly =) and (perhaps) another example of the really unfortunate
image handling design we have [ though it could just be a silly bug I guess ].

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78069] New: Add easy extenders for chart ranges ...

2014-04-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78069

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 78069
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Add easy extenders for chart ranges ...
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: michael.me...@collabora.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: NEW
   Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

One rather annoying feature of charts is that they crop the range of charted
cells to the area containing data. This means as you insert new rows you have
to edit each chart to add new rows.

When you have a range that is dis-contiguous, you have to edit several times in
a long string to expand the range.

It would be rather lovely if there was some add row and add column button /
icon that would extend each of these selected areas:

Double click on a chart (of some data in a sheet - from a couple of ranges) to
activate it, then Right click, and select 'Data Ranges'; that hits this dialog:

chart2/uiconfig/ui/tp_RangeChooser.ui:property name=label
translatable=yesData Range/property

chart2/source/controller/dialogs/tp_RangeChooser.cxx

It would be fantastic to have two extra buttons in there (on the right?) with
some pretty UI icons to extend all the ranges down and or right =) [ I suspect
the common use-cases ].

Thanks !

This has been fixed recently as part of bug 70609. Right now it is limited to
ranges with more than 10k cells and we plan to switch to dynamic shrinking
(therefore when we fetch data we build the intersection data range with the
chart range and use that) which will fix it even for larger ranges. That is
tracked as bug 55697.

I'm not sure if this expand range feature is still necessary.

FIXED

I open test file in Word 2011 and LO 4.2.3.3 on OSX 10.9.2 and they both
display page number 7. Looking good.

Then in LO save as newfile docx. Close Lo + re-open file. Still page number
7.

Seems one of the above commits did indeed fix this.

Please re-open if the issue persists for you.

Oooh - nice =) glad to see that fixed. I imagine shrinking to the size
containing actual data is rather important inside the chart itself ;-) but
hopefully we can load/save/preserve a much larger range that can subsequently
be filled with data =)

if so; marking this closed...

--- Comment #4 from Foss f...@openmailbox.org ---
Just tested https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44689 and set that to
fixed since it seems to work.

To offset a page number in LO you need at least as many pages in the document
as which you want to offset.

worksforme:

* create writer document with 3 pages
* insert Field (loose translation here!) Page number
* double click page number
* enter correction (loose translation!) value of 1

Page number should display 2 while inserted on first page

If you think this is bad behavior, please create a new bug with exact
suggestions about what you would like to see improved and in what why that
could be done.

Offset in general does work, so closing this very old bug.

Apparently this issue was fixed in version 4.2.1

Apparently it was not the case. I have 2 files saved
as xls and xlsx from Excel 2010.

The xlsx file appears fine in LibreOffice but
in the xls file, the formulae in column S to AE are all
missing when opened using LibreOffice 4.2.1, 4.2.2 and 4.2.3.
(Both files appear fine in Excel)

This is critical as data are permanently lost if the xls file
is saved again using LO

I believe I've fixed the *general* case here with
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=3db00c554b38ee6c1b6e969768da53db4dc2f92a
and
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=4d88c6dee6d57fa9c366b67624842aefa429f527

But in the specific example here it turns out that pstoedit isn't rendering the
eps to emf correctly. i.e.
pstoedit -f emf:-OO 2002010F00736BBF1512.eps output.emf
is how we execute pstoedit in order to create the preview and unfortunately
that emf is blank for that image.

So the general case is fixed, but the specific example here falls into a
pstoedit (3.62-3.fc20) problem/bug. Forwarded that eps to Wolfgang as per
http://www.helga-glunz.homepage.t-online.de/pstoedit/pstoedit.htm

I can confirm this, this is a bug.

Steps to reproduce:
1. New table, define 3 fields, stay in table design view;
2. Right-click - Insert Row between the 1st and 2nd field. (a new field is
inserted as expected.)
3. Save the table;
4. Table design view, try to insert a field between the 1st and 2nd field.

Current behaviour:
Insert a field between two existing fields not possible.

Expected:
Users can insert new fields or sort existing fields (when the database allows).
As this can be done by sql command, this should also be done in GUI.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 62051] UX Impress, Draw and Writer do not render inserted EPS as viewable element on Windows

2014-04-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62051

--- Comment #9 from Caolán McNamara caol...@redhat.com ---
This has now gotten a bit complicated. So lets try and simplify this now.

We can't render eps ourself natively, lets leave bug 67464 for that specific
long-term tricky problem and focus on the remaining problems.

a) If an eps already includes a preview image, we should be able to show that
on screen and when printed to pdf
b) If an eps does not include a preview image, then we try to launch pstoedit,
then gs, and then convert to create one. If that succeeds we should be able to
show that on screen and when printed to pdf. It is exceedingly unlikely to have
those installed on windows I appreciate.
c) If none of that works then we generate a redbox with some metadata in it
like the author and creator if that info is available. That should show on
screen and when printed to pdf.

I've made a few fixes now in master
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=3db00c554b38ee6c1b6e969768da53db4dc2f92a
and
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=4d88c6dee6d57fa9c366b67624842aefa429f527

caolanm-vstuart:
I would appreciate (with tomorrows daily for example) if you could test that if
with the above fixes on windows that a-c now happen there as expected, then I
would consider this fixed and closable.

Kohei Yoshida, thanks for taking a look at this. Unfortunately, the issue noted
in the Description is reproducible in:
Version: 4.2.3.3
Build ID: 882f8a0a489bc99a9e60c7905a60226254cb6ff0
Microsoft Windows Vista Business x86 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002

As well, F9 does not update the calculation.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 34686] Option to turn off Paste mode for Return

--- Comment #17 from Jonathan Addleman j...@redowl.ca ---
I just wanted to chime in to say that I would love to be able to turn this off.
Hitting enter to paste is a very strange mechanic, and one that's hard to
predict. Especially when there's an option explicitly saying that enter should
edit the cell instead! Maybe it's copying an existing behaviour in excel, maybe
some people expect it, but I don't think it's intuitive at all. I would love to
see an option for disabling it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78074] New: Other: Paste Special should have an option to paste raw formulas

Summary: Other: Paste Special should have an option to paste
raw formulas
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: stephane.guil...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.0.4 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

Currently, there is no way to copy and paste a range of cells containing
formulas without changing any cell coordinate or spreadsheet references
contained in formulas.

There should be an option in the Paste Special dialogue to let the user paste
formulas without having them modified according to the where it is pasted.

This option could be presented as a box to tick, and could be named paste raw
formulas.

This could be useful for example for documents or sheets sharing the same
structure and referring to data that shows different values but is organised in
the same manner. If a table is enhanced in one spreadsheet, the user might want
to copy it and replace the ones in the other sheets/documents.
A table could contain fixed coordinates (using $) and non-fixed coordinates
and the user would like to copy the raw formulas without worrying about the
action linking cells from a different spreadsheet or document.

Another case would be that the user simply wants to place a number of
formula-containing cells somewhere else in the sheet without getting all the
coordinates shifted accordingly, and without having to go back into each
formula to add $ signs.

As this option could result in errors (especially when copying from one
document to another with different sheet names), there could be a warning
dialogue letting the user know that This option might produce errors in cells
that contain a reference to an object that does not exist in the document.
This dialogue could appear only when the action is made from one document to
another.

--- Comment #16 from Michael Stahl mst...@redhat.com ---
4.1 loops inside SwFormTokensHelper::SwFormTokensHelper
because its input is truncated to 2^16 characters,
and it can't find its terminating character that was cut off.

4.2 can read it because the tools Strings with their 16bit limit
are gone, and the input is not truncated.

the input contains several text:style-name attribute values
on text:index-entry-bibliography elements from the content.xml,
and the problem is that each of those is 22k characters long,
which is probably not intended...

i'll push a fix for the infinite loop to master (just in case
somebody it's possible to set such invalid input via the UNO API),
but it would be really interesting to know where the
ridiculously long text:style-name come from.

can somebody reproduce creating such a file from scratch?
what are the steps to do it?

So, I've tried creating the Chart in Writer again to see if there was a problem

I can confirm this with 4.1.5.3
You pointed out the three auto-correct replacements for fractions (accessible
in Tools AutoCorrect option Replace tab).

It is indeed unintuitive in the case of cells already formatted for dates.

There are temporary workarounds if the fractions are not useful to you:
- In the AutoCorrect options, delete the three replacements that you pointed
out;
- Or deactivate the replacement table in the Options tab.

To the developpers: is it possible to deactivate particular autocorrect rules
for particular formatting cases?
Or better: let the formatting do its job before applying the replacement rules?

Cheers

(In reply to comment #3)
No in this one, each cell's background is changed to white.

It does not matter, the fix is the same.

--- Comment #1 from sophie gautier.sop...@gmail.com ---
Hi Karl, the painbrush just copies the inital format:
- you join two cells, then select it and click on the brush
= if you select 1 cells in the line, the next cell will be joined
= if you select 3 cells in the same line, you will have 2 group of 2 cells
joined (so 4 cells formatted)
= the same if you select 1 cell in 2 rows, you'll have the 4 cells formatted
in 2 rows, 2 groups of 2 cells in 2 rows.
So for me it works as designed. I set it as worksforme, please reopen if I
don't understand your issue. Sophie

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78080] New: Other: Title appears in chart when saving in xlsx

2014-04-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78080

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 78080
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Other: Title appears in chart when saving in xlsx
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: stephane.guil...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.5.3 release
 Component: Chart
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 98181
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=98181action=edit
Example spreadsheet with a chart showing the bug

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a dummy data sequence with a name for it at the beginning of the
sequence (in the same column)
2. Select the whole thing (name + sequence)
3. Plot it and keep the defaults
4. Save the document as an xlsx, and save it as and ods too
5. Close the document and open both saved versions

Current behavior:
The xlsx version adds a title with the name of the sequence, whereas the ods
version stayed the same (no title)

Expected behavior:
Saving in xlsx format should not add a title to the chart without the user
deciding to do so.

You can also try with the attached documents. Getting rid of the title does not
fix it, it comes back the next time you open the document.
Saving in xls format does not result in that bug.

Operating System: Ubuntu
Version: 4.1.5.3 release
