[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 74097] Title field in Writer document properties not updated for new or changed filenames
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74097 Jay Philips philip...@hotmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added Status|RESOLVED|UNCONFIRMED Resolution|NOTABUG |--- CC||jmadero@gmail.com --- Comment #3 from Jay Philips philip...@hotmail.com --- (In reply to comment #2) Consider how text layers are handled in the GIMP: - When text layers are created, they initially use the first few words of their text contents as a label - If the text contents are updated, the label updates - If the text label is ever set manually, then the label will only change with future manual edits Well with layers in gimp, layers is a primary feature that most people use which is always visible to a user in the interface and having text layers change its layer label makes it easier to find that layer in the list of layers. This isnt really the case for document properties as its a hidden feature most people dont really pay attention to or even know exists. The other thing to consider is that if it is automatically set according to the filename if it isnt manually edited, what happens when a user doesnt use a filename that is useful as a title, as many documents i get from others are like this. Maybe the best thing would be that if a user uses a template that before its saved, the user is promoted to set the document title. It's possible that there are users relying on the current behavior, but that seems rather unlikely. For now I'll categorize as an 'enhancement', and let Joel chime-in here. @Joel: whats your take on this. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Open a new Spreadsheet 3. Fill in some info into cells e.g. C4 : Name ; D4: Ident-No 4. mark the cells 5. from the menue Format ( I have the German version so I don't know whether the names of the menue items are correct) choose cells 6. in the formatting window select Frames go to Styles. In the dropdown menue click on the 7th item (double line) 7. click on the full frame - no further changes - and confirm 8. the frame around the cells C4 and D4 can be seen on the screen 9. Save the document and close it. 10. Open it again and Simsalabim the frame is gone. (By the way, opening this file with OOo 4.1 shows no frame too.) The above procedure performed with OOo 4.1 works fine and the document opened in LibreOffice 4.2.4.2 shows the frame correctly! I enclose the file Frame_Test1.ods hereto. I hope you find a solution. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79796] New: FORMATTING: CTRL+] and CTRL+[ shortcuts do not work with mixed-size selection
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79796 Priority: medium Bug ID: 79796 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: FORMATTING: CTRL+] and CTRL+[ shortcuts do not work with mixed-size selection Severity: normal Classification: Unclassified OS: All Reporter: djrei...@gmail.com Hardware: Other Whiteboard: BSA Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 4.2.4.2 release Component: Writer Product: LibreOffice This is an ENHANCEMENT REQUEST. Problem description: `CTRL+]` and `CTRL+[` are the keyboard shortcuts to increase or reduce the font size of the selected text by 2 points. This works fine, so long as the selected text is of a uniform size. This screenshot shows the operation: http://i.imgur.com/nwuTA8s.png However, when text of multiple sizes is selected, this shortcut/manipulation is not available - there is no way to select text that includes both of, say, 10pt and 12pt, and with a single application of the shortcut, make it all 12pt and 14pt. This scenario is illustrated here: http://i.imgur.com/vxp3y27.png To increase or reduce text of different sizes uniformly thus requires multiple select/change procedures. The ENHANCEMENT REQUEST, then, is to make it possible to apply the shortcut(s) to mixed-size text selections. Note: this desired behaviour will be expected by those migrating from MS Word, where this ability to adjust mixed point sizes in selected text (also with the same shortcut keys, but in increments +/- of 1pt) has been available since at least Word XP. With that in mind, it would be a bonus to permit the user to set the increment/decrement value as an option. This is likely a GTK UI focus issue in navigating the Thumbnail view panels of Template Manager. Andrzej had to tweak things to make the keyboard navigation correct. See bug 73766. When working only with keyboard, the Close button for the Properties dialog correctly returns focus to the Horizontal menu (Open, Edit, Properties, ...) positioning to the Open action. But it looks like there now is a loss of parent relation following close of the template's Properties dialog when using mouse to navigate GUI. Not clear where focus goes at that point. Simple work around is for an extra mouse click on the thumbnail view panel (but not on a thumbnail) -- which returns focus to the thumbnail view panel. Mouse over focus, and keyboard navigation is restored to reasonable. Efe has the Template Manager as his 2014 GSOC project, maybe he and Kendy can poke at it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79492 --- Comment #2 from Bruno Goncalves bruno...@gmail.com --- Dear Jay, thank you for our answer, but it seems this is not what I wanted. My problem is that if I have few lines and I'm not using any numbering I can select all lines and then go to Format - Paragraph and there there is a tab called tabs where I can select the position for the tab character. I'm just wondering why this option is not available when I use numbering. A workaround is to write all lines without numbering, select the tab position and leave the numbering as last step it works. After exiting from the 'Find Replace' dialog, everything has become slow because all of the replaced cells are being selected, and clicking on any other cell will result in the UI being accessible again. So retesting the original file and clicking in the cancel button area right after clicking 'Replace All' shows the replacing took 4.5 minutes, and deselecting all the selected rows after exiting the dialog takes ~3 minutes. Observing Kingsoft Spreadsheets and Excel, they dont maintain selection of these cells during the replacement, and once replacement is completed, they simply show a replacement result popup. With LibO 4.3 and above, there is a 'search results' dialog that appears after the replacing and it hangs the UI, even after i clicked the cancel button after starting the replacing. Don't know where the message come from (HSQLDB or internal dialog?). So I set this bug to new and as an ask for an enhancement (better messages ...). It's the same behavior on all systems - get the same with Linux rpm. What do you want to get with truncate table toolbar? In the internal HSQLDB (1.8!) there is a function TRUNCATE. TRUNCATE(2.37456,2) = 2.37 The code you put in the query-editor isn't a valid query for the internal HSQLDB and any other database. The query-editor does allow only queries. And so the editor produces an error-message, which seems to be the last in a circle of informations. Says only: I'm missing a possible end of a query. Better would be: The command isn't a query - it doesn't start with SELECT. The code would work together, for example, MySQL, when you put it to Tools → SQL.
