[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 82275] Windows crashes after install

2014-08-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82275

--- Comment #4 from Julien Nabet serval2...@yahoo.fr ---
Also:
- do you use any accessibility option/tool?
- what's your precise Java version? (1.6/1.7/1.8), 32 or 64 bits? Indeed LO
Windows version works only with Java 32 bits since LO can only be built in 32
bits.

For the test, would it be possible you give a try to 4.3 daily build? (see
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/libreoffice-4-3/Win-x86@42/current/)

If you still reproduce the problem with this version, it would be very helpful
you retrieve a backtrace by following this link, see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/How_to_get_a_backtrace_with_WinDbg

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80927] Win: crash with Quickstarter enabled

2014-08-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80927

--- Comment #29 from Marcus m-mangelsd...@web.de ---
Just another confirmation here: LibreOffice with enabled quickstart constantly
crashes on Win 8.1 x64 with German locale.

Wasn't able to resolve this yet, but will report, if Kevin Suo's Workaround for
XP works in 8.1, too.

As long as this isn't fixed, I propose hiding the quickstart option or marking
it experimental, so unexperienced users don't run into this problem.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81592] Bad Quality/Rendering of EPS graphics in LO 4.2 and 4.3

2014-08-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81592

--- Comment #18 from Gerry gerry.trep...@googlemail.com ---
@Joel: Thanks for your comment. However, your advice in comment 17 is highly
problematic for some reasons:
- EPS is the only vector graphics format which is supported on export from many
applications (e.g. statistical software). Inserting them in Libreffice was
always possible without problems.
-All documents which were created with embedded EPS files are useless in LO 4.2
and 4.3. I mean, no one can ask the users to rip off dozens of EPS graphics in
nicely formatted theses/books/articles, somehow export them from LO, convert
them in another piece of software to another format, insert them again in LO
and do all the formatting again.
- Pixel graphics formats like jpg or png are just a quite bad workaround. EPS
as vector format was just perfect for the same document to self-publish(using
LO) and to a publisher (who usually requests EPS for graphics exchange). Hence,
there is currently no real alternative to EPS for many user scenarios (at least
in academia).

Honestly, I don't know what to do, if the last version of the LO 4.2-line
(upcoming 4.2.7) doesn't fix this bug. Currently, I am locked to the EOL
LibreOffice 4.1.x-line, but I cannot always keep an old version of LibreOffice
on the system to properly access my documents...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 82325] query builder should seek input concerning what table operation should be done first

2014-08-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82325

--- Comment #2 from Lionel Elie Mamane lio...@mamane.lu ---
The execution plan is decided by the database engine, Base (and Query Builder)
plays no role in that. I'm not even sure Base can possibly have any influence
on that; maybe parenthesising the JOIN expression is taken as a clue by the
database engine?

Even assuming Base could have an influence, I don't immediately have a good
idea of how to present that visually... I don't like the idea of taking the
spatial layout left-to-right and/or top-to-bottom because the spatial layout is
IMHO purely presentational and not semantic. Maybe we could annotate the link
lines with numbers or so. Or have a separate dialog that lists the links
(JOINs) and allows to order them.

In the absence of visual clue (that is, without this enhancement request being
fulfilled), one can always go to the SQL view and parenthesise the SQL
directly (if the underlying database engine supports that, not all of them do).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 73071] Other: Sidebar: Styles are missing from Properties

2014-08-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73071

--- Comment #13 from Jay Philips philip...@hotmail.com ---
(In reply to comment #12)
Why paragraph style only? Both paragraph and character styles need to be
 easily reachable when writing.

As previously stated in comment 10 - adding a character style drop down in the
sidebar will confuse regular users, especially as we never had that drop down
in the toolbar before.

Nothing more innovative than copying ms-word when we already have something
 original and working?

I'm not a designer so i wont attempt to come up with how it should look. We
currently dont have anything original and working in the sidebar and i was
using ms-word as an idea mockup to show a visual idea of what it could be like.
I would of course want the designer team to use it as a concept for whatever
they choose to do in the end, if they choose to go with the idea.

That said, on your mockup the name of each style is not readable because
there is not enough room. I think that a scrolling ribbon a not the good
 tool here.

As i only copied and pasted, there was little i could do about making them
readable. In the right mockup, i also stretched it, which of course caused
blurriness, so things became less readable. It is a concept mockup that can be
used if such a route is wanted to be taken.

IIRC, currently there are 32, 64, 128 and 256 bit icon sets. So exactly
which are you suggesting be used -- and where -- on the UI? You need to
 flesh out the suggestion.

I'm suggesting libreoffice use its large set, which i'd assuming is 32.

(In reply to comment #1)
Personally, I am not a fan of over sized ICONs, although they are a
necessity when supporting HDPI monitors--but that is a different issue.

(In reply to comment #2)
Please, no. I already hated the change in OS X, where it doesn’t fit at all.

I personally am happy with small icons, but this bug is about what's best for
regular/new users, and of course those who like small have the option to change
it to small icons in the options dialog. As most users never change the default
settings, its always best to have the most optimal choice already set out for
them.

(In reply to comment #2)
If our icon metaphors suck, large icons won’t help.

I think libreoffice's Sifr icons have a good icon metaphor if they were set by
default, but unfortunately they arent. By default, libreoffice uses Tango and
and unfortunately some of these tango icons aren't well designed, which is why
i believe a number of them were changed in 4.3. But whether or not you have a
good icon metaphor, it becomes harder to correctly represent it when you have
to design a small 16x16 icon, so having a larger icon will always help.

If one activates Edit - Changes - Record and deletes some part of the text the
number of characters shown in the status bar is correct.

If one appends a word to the deleted part, the character count is updated
correctly.

But if one inserts a word into the deleted part, the character count is not
updated, so it is wrong.

Please see the attached files for clarification.

Full_original_text.odt: 446 characters, which is correct.
Deleted.odt: 26 characters, which is correct.
Deleted_and_appended.odt: 34, which is correct.
Deleted_and_inserted.odt: 26 characters, altough LABORUM is inserted, so it

 (In reply to comment #12)
Why paragraph style only? Both paragraph and character styles need to be
  easily reachable when writing.

As previously stated in comment 10 - adding a character style drop down in
the sidebar will confuse regular users, especially as we never had that drop
 down in the toolbar before.

Poor argumentation, it was an opportunity to make progress from typewriter to
word processing.

Best regards. JBF

 Also:
 - do you use any accessibility option/tool?

For the test, would it be possible you give a try to 4.3 daily build? (see

I agree with leaving character styles out of the sidebar.

I'm a pretty big fan of styles, but I think that while paragraph styles are
both easy to comprehend and widely useful, character styles are much less
frequently used. I rarely use them myself. It seems to me perfectly reasonable
(and extremely useful) for the sidebar to have a section for paragraph styles,
while leaving character styles somewhat more hidden.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 82336] New: CRASH - executing mysql left outer join query on multiple tables

2014-08-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 82336

Summary: CRASH - executing mysql left outer join query on
multiple tables
  Severity: blocker
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Mac OS X (All)
  Reporter: ipla...@yahoo.co.uk
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.5.2 release
 Component: Database
   Product: LibreOffice

Attempting to execute a multi-table LEFT OUTER JOIN query to a mysql instance
via the native mysql connector causes LO to crash immediately.

If the Query mode button on the main database window is clicked first, and then
the query itself double-clicked to start it (request for login, then execution
of query), LO goes into beachball mode, procesor occupation goes up to 70% and
stays there until the application is forcibly killed. The query never gets
displayed.

The same query runs from a terminal against a local mysql instance in 0.08s and
returns 636 results.

The query is as follows :

SELECT * from ipgalore as t1 LEFT OUTER JOIN (priority as t2,owner_list as
t3,inventor_list as t4) ON (t2.fmpro_id = t1.fmpro_id AND t3.fmpro_id =
t1.fmpro_id AND t4.fmpro_id = t1.fmpro_id)

The same query runs almost instantly with LO 4233.

Help there is a checkbox named Tips. It should be checked in order to show
the tips. Does it help?

Process sampling via Mac sampling utility

This sampling was made when LibreOffice did not crash, but hung - this
situation occurs when the query is executed directly after opening the ODB
file, i.e. it combines the parsing of the login credentials with subsequent
execution of the query

2014-08-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 82342
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Other: (SVG import) Paths without explicit 'fill'
property disappears instead of displaying black.
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: explore...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA PossibleRegression
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.0.4 release
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:
When importing an SVG image into a LibreOffice Writer or Impress document, the
image will display incorrectly, and also becomes incorrect after exporting the
document to PDF.

In particular, the SVG paths and objects without an explicit 'fill' property
disappears completely, instead of showing a black path.

--

Steps to reproduce:
1. Save the test code above to test.svg
2. In LibreOffice Writer, choose Insert - Image - From File, and choose to
import the test.svg
3. Export the document with the image as PDF.

Current behavior:
Only the right black square is shown in the document and the PDF file. The left
one disappears.

Expected behavior:
Two black squares should be shown.

The crash is in mysql client library code...

It looks similar to bug 65630.

Which MySQL connector are you using *exactly*, built from which commit in the
git LibreOffice repo? The main thing I'm trying to find out is whether it uses
libmysql from mysql.com or the LGPL C native client library from MariaDB.

To reproduce, I'll obviously need a database dump and the .odb file.

if you are using a MySQL-LibreOffice native connector that is recent enough.

It also appears on LibreOffice Writer 4.2.5.2. I figured out that LibreOffice
does not freeze but does not seem to update the UI anymore. If I wait for about
20 seconds the printer dialog appears and everything works just fine. Maybe it
has something to do with the image at the top of the document as it is not
displayed immediately after pasting. It loads after ~10sec. But my internet
connection is not as slow. The webpage loads and displays instant in Firefox.

A little more research

reveals that the submitted bug file is a long string of null characters.

According to this article:
http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/10-things/10-reasons-why-kingsoft-office-is-better-than-the-competition/

Kingsoft Office is relatively new and should be able to interact with
LibreOffice through the supported MSOffice formats.

This sounds more like a feature request than a bug.

move static bitmap into a svapp member

so it won't crash on exit when its dtor uses stuff destroyed by
deinitvcl
already.

also fix comparisons, i.e. presumably
aLastColorTopLeft == aLastColorTopLeft etc
should have been aLastColorTopLeft == aColorTopLeft

--- Comment #6 from Alex Thurgood ipla...@yahoo.co.uk ---

Step ^ of the wizard is currently lacking a UI dialog, so testing on master
somewhat difficult.

The workaround, and the way I have always done this :

1) Set the filter in the data source broswer window.
2) Select the upper left corner of the data source browser and drag and drop
this onto the empty Writer document
3) The other mailmerge wizard will start and only copy over the filtered data -
the user gets to decide which fields to insert

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 82336] CRASH - executing mysql left outer join query on multiple tables using native connector extension

2014-08-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82336

--- Comment #10 from Alex Thurgood ipla...@yahoo.co.uk ---
(In reply to comment #8)
The crash is in mysql client library code...

It looks similar to bug 65630.

Which MySQL connector are you using *exactly*, built from which commit in
the git LibreOffice repo? The main thing I'm trying to find out is whether
it uses libmysql from mysql.com or the LGPL C native client library from
 MariaDB.

To reproduce, I'll obviously need a database dump and the .odb file.

The dump won't happen, it is one of my pro dbs, and unfortunately must remain
confidential.

At best, I can provide the table descriptions.

As to the commit that bases the build of the connector, I have no idea, but am
pretty certain that the library is from Mysql and not MariaDB - can one tell
from the extension components ?
