Thanks for filing this bug. Unfortunately, we cannot work on it because your
description didn’t include enough information. You may find it helpful to read
“How to report bugs effectively”
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We’d be grateful if you
would then provide a more complete description of the problem. What steps did
you try, did it work in a previous version, etcetera.

  I can reproduce this bug in 4.3.0.4 Win7 x64.

It was not present from the time of installation, started after some time.

Now i can reproduce it on almost every start of both Quickstarter and single
  apps like writer.

On startup the program freezes for 6-8 minutes, and almost all other
programs also freezes, in this period, not even CTRL+ALT+DELETE can't open
the Windows joblist, until LibreOffice decies to un-freeze.

 UPDATE
I uninstalled 4.3.0.4 and then installed 4.3.1.1, that fixed the bug for me

lucky you ;)

I tried but not for me ;(

can you see the icon on the systemtray?

And regressions (comment 27) get ignored as no longer being MAB ?

I give up. Seriously, what is the point of all the testing if this is the kind
of automated response that a QAer gets ?

When was this decided ?

I don't see it in the minutes of the latest dev IRC, merely that a discussion
took place.

Alex, don't take this personally. I don't think it was done in bad intention.

Raising back to highest since

* broken core functions (or is using videos in presentations not a core
functionality?)
* happens frequently, 100% of times to be exact

so from the flowchart this qualifies as Highest, Blocker.

Maybe because it's only OSX makes it less bad? Also video usage in
presentation is still a major pain on all platforms (linux seems to work a
little if you're lucky, while OSX and windows seem to be completely broken. So
it would be great of the dev team, to address this core functionality bug.

Steve, not taking it personally at all, just a tad narked that yet again, a
whole swathe of reports get the automatic whitewash treatment - surely, if the
keyword regression is in the report, then the query used to decide whether or
not to send out the automatic response is not working properly ?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81714] Other: The new Language Tag feature in LO 4.3 works only with Latin scripts

2014-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81714

Yes Owen, you understood my report correctly, and encouraged me to investigate
things a bit further (OS X 10.9.4 / LO 4.3.04).

It appears that for any text written in a CTL script, the status bar always
displays the name of whichever language is selected in the CTL Font section of
the Character Format dialog.

So, if a section of text in Khmer script is marked as cmo-Khmr-KH, but the CTL
Font is specified as Arabic, then the status bar indicates “Arabic”.

It does not seem that this is simply an issue with the status bar. If a Khmer
spell checker is installed, then it will show red underlines beneath Central
Mnong text marked as cmo-Khmr-KH but with Khmer selected as the CTL Font
(Khmer.png). If, however, Arabic (for which no spelling dictionary is
installed) is selected, then red underlines are not displayed (Arabic.png).

--- Comment #38 from Alex Thurgood ipla...@yahoo.co.uk ---
Compare that with the fact that a new feature, introduced in 4.3 development
(the OSX toolbar gradient bug 80474) and which happens to not work as intended
gets prioritized to MAB because it is a regression. Either it is a regression
because the new development, aimed at and for OSX, screwed up LO on OSX only,
as in the present video mess up, or else one takes the view that as it is a
newly implemented feature that doesn't work properly, and it shouldn't have
made it into the mainstream product (I thought that was what we had the
experimental setting for). In the latter case, it shouldn't then become a
MAB. Anyway, I digress.

Does changing the importance back to highest put back the link to MAB, it
doesn't appear to have done that. Bjoern's reset appears to have removed this
from the MAB list, since the link is no longer referenced.

This bug bytes me also, specs: Win XP SP3, Athlon Sempron 3100+, Radeon 9250, a
fairly old system, with LibreOffice Version: 4.3.0.4 Build-ID
62ad5818884a2fc2e5780dd45466868d41009ec0.

It happens also when only Writer has been uses, small documents (less than one
page) saved, and then Writer closed. The error message is exactly the same as
reported in the bug description, only the address differs.

So this clearly shows that not the spreadsheet component is in error, it is the
main application exit that throws the error. Maybe this surfaces now as
quickstarter is broken and the application terminates every time. With previous
versions I always used quickstarter, so application exit happened only on
computer shutdown.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 82862] Formula turning up values incorrect- Critical

2014-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82862

--- Comment #3 from SriJanani jananikumar...@gmail.com ---
Hi,

Further to our discussion with the user what he is trying to do is.

He is calculating sum(E8:E10) in a new Libre office sheet.

E8= 1
E9= 2
E10= 3

E11=sum(E8:E10) that is 6.

Now user saves the sheet and closes. He opens the same sheet and changes the
values in the column E9 from 2 to 3.

E8= 1
E9= 3
E10= 3

E11=sum(E8:E10) that is 7.

Here is the issue- now user wants to recall the changes so he presses Ctrl+Z.
The values are not getting reflected automatically unless we press
Ctrl+Shift+F9. Please assist.

In users PC autocalculate is turned all already.

Awaiting your response

Thank you,

Regards,
SriJanani

kubuntu linux. Spellcheck worked fine yesterday, did not work today. I have
not changed any settings since then. Now words like adfadf do not have
wiggly red lines under them. I ticked the abc wiggly red line box. No luck.
Spent hours googling, other people have exactly the same problem, not just me.
I reset the language, mucked about for ages. Tried tools - options -
language settings - writing aids - check spelling as you type and rechecked
the box. No luck. Unchecked the box and checked it again. No luck.
Sometimes it works, today it didn't. Maybe it will work tomorrow. Probably
not.

Joel, what's up with this? I do not get the purpose of this empty MAB bug.

Created oct 2013 last comment 6 months ago. A single bug I see which I just
tested and WORKSFORME.

So setting this to INVALID. If this bug will be put to major use, why not
create it again, when it's really needed.

Currently it's just empty and cluttering the bug tracker without helping
anybody.

Slightly improve the screen rendering, but as soon as add comments (Ctrl+Alt+C)

2014-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #39 from Michael Meeks michael.me...@collabora.com ---
Hi Alex; Wow this is a hugely long bug to read =) I didn't have time to get to
the end of it.

Any mention of VLC / Mplayer is a red-herring. We tried to integrate with VLC
for GSOC, and wrote some code for that, and its a nightmare in its current
state.

So - I'd say step #1 - check that we're not turning that on in product builds
for any platform; it's likely to break stuff.

If there is any program/*avmediavlc* library inside the install, can you delete
it and see if that fixes things ?

Beyond that - I imagine that this is something bisectable if it used to work
and now is broken.

Looking here on Linux for no reason I understand libavmediavlc.so exists on my
system. I guess a simple fix here is to simply turn that off with extreme
prejudice.

If someone can reproduce this with a debug build - it'd be fantastic to have a

2014-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58358

--- Comment #21 from Heinz Repp heinz.r...@arcor.de ---
(In reply to comment #17)
Libreoffice 4.3.0 Writer is unusable, no matter the zoom setting. I did not
have any rendering problem with my previous 3.3 installation.

I agree, 4.3.0 aggravates the problem: with my systems, the 150% zoom that did
work always now often fails - it is pretty hard to find a zoom level with
correct rendering. Seems full page view is the last resort, but often is hard
to read; and forced refresh (minimize-restore) gives a correct view - until you
scroll again.

I think the problem is the combination of LibreOffice with certain display
drivers, radeon being the most prominent. 3.6 has changed something in
addressing the video driver as compared to 3.5, and since then this bug is
there, and no one addressing it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83026] Sidebar should open on the left side in accordance with the GNOME HIG

2014-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83026

I agree with the Gnome HIG, but I would argue that the Sidebar does NOT have
priority over document content. On the contrary: given that the sidebar is
primarily contextual (i.e. the current state of the document defines what the
sidebar shows), it only makes sense to have the document area on the left and
the sidebar on the right. Navigation panes, on the other hand, make sense on
the left, as the selection made within them defines what is shown in the
document area.

If someone can reproduce this with a debug build - it'd be fantastic to have
a stack trace of where it has hung. Windbg should be able to get that for us.

Hacks to disable the quick-starter are all very well, but that's a useful
feature, and we should get to the root cause here ASAP.

where can I find a debug build?

Goto Page Dialog in Okular, Adobe Reader, Abiword and WPS Writer

One of the most common means of navigation is a simple goto feature. Most text
editors have a go to line feature (Kate, Gedit, Notepad++, Geany) and most word
processors and document viewers have a go to page feature (MS Word,
Kingsoft/WPS Writer, WordPerfect, Abiword, Adobe Reader, Okular). So i'd like
to suggest that a simple dialog appear, asking for the user to enter in a
number for LibO to jump to.

Going to a particular page is possible in the navigator dialog, but i believe
that basic users will be overwhelmed with the amount of features shown in the
dialog, and the dialog doesnt have any text indication that that the goto page
functionality is in the dialog.

I'd like to suggest that a menu entry be added for the feature in the Edit menu
and that Ctrl+G be its shortcut key. Below is the menu and shortcut keys used
by other mentioned apps.

Notepad++- Search  Go to...  (Ctrl + G)
Geany- Search Go to Line... (Ctrl + L)
Gedit- Search Go to Line... (Ctrl + I)
Kate - Edit Go to Line... (Ctrl + G)

MS Word - Edit Go To...(Ctrl + G)
WPS Writer - Edit Go To...(Ctrl + G)
Abiword - Edit Go To...(Ctrl + G)
WordPerfect - Edit Go To...(Ctrl + G)

Adobe Reader - View Go To Page... (Ctrl + N)
Okular - Go Go to Page... (Ctrl + G)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83026] Sidebar should open on the left side in accordance with the GNOME HIG

(In reply to comment #1)
Regardless of the GNOME HIG recommendation, could also make the argument
that with the Start Center menu as implemented aligned left, that moving the
SideBar to the left alignment would simply make for a more consistent UI.

Well with the new start center, the priority is about a user clicking the file
thumbnails, so the icon alignment had to be moved to somewhere when previously
they were all in the center. I personally would have preferred the icons being
on the bottom. :)

(In reply to comment #2)
I am pretty sure that the user does not want Gnome HIG decides for him how
to arrange his workspace and if the sidebar should be on the left or on the
right. It is clear for me that the user must be free to dock the sidebar on
 the side he wants.

By default, Word 2013 opens the navigation panel is on the left, but you have
the option to move it to be floating or to the right, so giving the user the
choice is always the best way to go.

In my daily work, I prefer to have the sidebar on the right side in Writer
because, with this layout, the right end of the text is near the screen
center and has a better visibility. Indeed the content of the document is
more important than the sidebar, so it is the text that must have the better
 part of the screen.

It would be my preference to have the sidebar on the right side as well, as the
scroll bar is on the right and i use the mouse with my right hand, which
results in the mouse pointer always being more on the right side.

In Calc I dock the sidebar on the right side too, because it is closed most
of the time and, when I open it, that does not move the table on the screen.

Yep that is another point of why i keep in on the right. :)

I agree with Samuel. This should be well decided. I see no effort in having
Styles and Formatting opening as the default Deck of the Sidebar. If we
want to promote the Sidebar to the user, there will be only a small win -
because he thinks of it as Styles and Formatting - which he rarely uses
 and closes it.

To be honest, I have a stronger believe in what was discussed somewhere else
(issue? UX-list?? @Mirek2 ??) about giving styles a serious place in the
properties deck..

an example of the file chinese converted

Problem description:
I'm converting traditional Chinese words into simplified Chinese in a 50MB txt,
and I split it into 59 pieces using Textforever, 1MB per file. I each open the
txt in libreoffice writer of the version mentioned above and click tools --
language -- chinese conversion. It acts well at first, using about 45MB RAM.
After conversion of a txt finished, I close the file and open another. Then
when the number of the files that had been converted accumulates up to 5 or
more, I noticed in the KDE System Guard(ksysguard) that libreoffice is
consuming about 825MB RAM (soffice.bin). And as my computer has only 1 GB RAM,
both the system and libreoffice UI is responding rather slowly. But the latter
can still convert my file at a slower speed. My processor is AMD Athlon dual
core 64 and runs KDE smoothly.

additional information:
Then I have two choice. One is to quit libreoffice. But ksysguard shows
SOFFICE.BIN is still running in the background, taking as much RAM as it does
before libreoffice quits. So I have to end the process manually every time. The
other is continue using libreoffice. But I often end up pressing
CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE to kill xserver because I can't see any responding on my
desktop and libreoffice.

In fact, I don't know whether it's a problem of libreoffice or one of the
Chinese conversion module. And I even disabled libreoffice's JRE but nothing
turns better. My install way is to pick up official rpm in your website and run
rpm -i *.rpm, and earlier I have removed the openSUSE's libreoffice package
4.1.

I'm not a English speaker and may not describe correctly. I hope you find out
the bug. And I knows little about bug-reporting.

--- Comment #45 from Marcus m-mangelsd...@web.de ---
Kevin Suo's method killing the processes didn't work for me on Win 8.1 x64 so I
had to rename quickstart.exe to make LO work again.

@Michael:
I would also like to help tracking down the original cause of the failing
quickstarter to help return to functioning status.

As far as I can see, though, to get a stack trace using WinDbg I will need to
run LibreOffice before I can select it to be tracked by WinDbg - since the
crash appears during start-up, I'm not sure if this can work.
Is there any way to have WinDbg monitor a file/process during start-up?

ODG File that wont open

I'm unable to open an odg file created on 3.x version. LibreOffice just crashes
after the percentage bar (open) fills (100%?).

I'm aware of other similar problems/bus reports regarding this matter but, I
found few correlations with them.
I hope you guys could solve this problem.

I'm using:
- openSUSE 13.1 Tumbleweed x86_64.
- LibreOffice 4.1.6.2 BuildID 410m0 (Build:2)
- I'm unsure at what version the file was created on

I also attach the specific odg file.

If you need any other info, do not hesitate to ask.

Regards,
Rui Santos

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 65351] Sidebar: default view is not Styles and formatting

2014-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=65351

--- Comment #11 from V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu ---
(In reply to comment #8)

Moreover, be aware, that having Styles and Formatting as the default Deck
in Impress makes absolutely no sense (I never heard of someone using this
stuff there, and Slide Properties are much more of interest there).

No sense because it is implemented in a strange legacy fashion, rather I would
suggest the slide Layouts content panel for Impress does not belong in the
--Properties-- tray, as it is formatting applied to each slide.

Rather that the existing --Styles and Formatting-- tray with the Drawing
Obejcts Styles and Presentation Styles content panels, should be reworked
and should include the selector for slide Layout formatting.

Properties would then only hold the direct formatting details of the
styles/configurations applied to the Paragraph, Fontwork, or Drawing object
selected active on the slide.

I think you should set two separate autocorrect replacement:

does this solves your problem?
