[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81714] Other: The new Language Tag feature in LO 4.3 works only with Latin scripts
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81714 --- Comment #3 from livingfi...@gmail.com --- Yes Owen, you understood my report correctly, and encouraged me to investigate things a bit further (OS X 10.9.4 / LO 4.3.04). It appears that for any text written in a CTL script, the status bar always displays the name of whichever language is selected in the CTL Font section of the Character Format dialog. So, if a section of text in Khmer script is marked as cmo-Khmr-KH, but the CTL Font is specified as Arabic, then the status bar indicates “Arabic”. It does not seem that this is simply an issue with the status bar. If a Khmer spell checker is installed, then it will show red underlines beneath Central Mnong text marked as cmo-Khmr-KH but with Khmer selected as the CTL Font (Khmer.png). If, however, Arabic (for which no spelling dictionary is installed) is selected, then red underlines are not displayed (Arabic.png). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79546 --- Comment #38 from Alex Thurgood ipla...@yahoo.co.uk --- Compare that with the fact that a new feature, introduced in 4.3 development (the OSX toolbar gradient bug 80474) and which happens to not work as intended gets prioritized to MAB because it is a regression. Either it is a regression because the new development, aimed at and for OSX, screwed up LO on OSX only, as in the present video mess up, or else one takes the view that as it is a newly implemented feature that doesn't work properly, and it shouldn't have made it into the mainstream product (I thought that was what we had the experimental setting for). In the latter case, it shouldn't then become a MAB. Anyway, I digress. Does changing the importance back to highest put back the link to MAB, it doesn't appear to have done that. Bjoern's reset appears to have removed this from the MAB list, since the link is no longer referenced. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79546 --- Comment #39 from Michael Meeks michael.me...@collabora.com --- Hi Alex; Wow this is a hugely long bug to read =) I didn't have time to get to the end of it. Any mention of VLC / Mplayer is a red-herring. We tried to integrate with VLC for GSOC, and wrote some code for that, and its a nightmare in its current state. So - I'd say step #1 - check that we're not turning that on in product builds for any platform; it's likely to break stuff. If there is any program/*avmediavlc* library inside the install, can you delete it and see if that fixes things ? Beyond that - I imagine that this is something bisectable if it used to work and now is broken. Looking here on Linux for no reason I understand libavmediavlc.so exists on my system. I guess a simple fix here is to simply turn that off with extreme prejudice. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58358 --- Comment #21 from Heinz Repp heinz.r...@arcor.de --- (In reply to comment #17) Libreoffice 4.3.0 Writer is unusable, no matter the zoom setting. I did not have any rendering problem with my previous 3.3 installation. I agree, 4.3.0 aggravates the problem: with my systems, the 150% zoom that did work always now often fails - it is pretty hard to find a zoom level with correct rendering. Seems full page view is the last resort, but often is hard to read; and forced refresh (minimize-restore) gives a correct view - until you scroll again. I think the problem is the combination of LibreOffice with certain display drivers, radeon being the most prominent. 3.6 has changed something in addressing the video driver as compared to 3.5, and since then this bug is there, and no one addressing it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83026 --- Comment #4 from Mirek2 maz...@gmail.com --- I agree with the Gnome HIG, but I would argue that the Sidebar does NOT have priority over document content. On the contrary: given that the sidebar is primarily contextual (i.e. the current state of the document defines what the sidebar shows), it only makes sense to have the document area on the left and the sidebar on the right. Most text editors have a go to line feature (Kate, Gedit, Notepad++, Geany) and most word processors and document viewers have a go to page feature (MS Word, Kingsoft/WPS Writer, WordPerfect, Abiword, Adobe Reader, Okular). So i'd like to suggest that a simple dialog appear, asking for the user to enter in a number for LibO to jump to. Going to a particular page is possible in the navigator dialog, but i believe that basic users will be overwhelmed with the amount of features shown in the dialog, and the dialog doesnt have any text indication that that the goto page functionality is in the dialog. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83026] Sidebar should open on the left side in accordance with the GNOME HIG
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83026 Jay Philips philip...@hotmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||philip...@hotmail.com --- Comment #5 from Jay Philips philip...@hotmail.com --- (In reply to comment #1) Regardless of the GNOME HIG recommendation, could also make the argument that with the Start Center menu as implemented aligned left, that moving the SideBar to the left alignment would simply make for a more consistent UI. Well with the new start center, the priority is about a user clicking the file thumbnails, so the icon alignment had to be moved to somewhere when previously they were all in the center. I personally would have preferred the icons being on the bottom. :) (In reply to comment #2) I am pretty sure that the user does not want Gnome HIG decides for him how to arrange his workspace and if the sidebar should be on the left or on the right. It is clear for me that the user must be free to dock the sidebar on the side he wants. By default, Word 2013 opens the navigation panel is on the left, but you have the option to move it to be floating or to the right, so giving the user the choice is always the best way to go. In my daily work, I prefer to have the sidebar on the right side in Writer because, with this layout, the right end of the text is near the screen center and has a better visibility. Indeed the content of the document is more important than the sidebar, so it is the text that must have the better part of the screen. It would be my preference to have the sidebar on the right side as well, as the scroll bar is on the right and i use the mouse with my right hand, which results in the mouse pointer always being more on the right side. In Calc I dock the sidebar on the right side too, because it is closed most of the time and, when I open it, that does not move the table on the screen. Yep that is another point of why i keep in on the right. :) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I see no effort in having Styles and Formatting opening as the default Deck of the Sidebar. If we want to promote the Sidebar to the user, there will be only a small win - because he thinks of it as Styles and Formatting - which he rarely uses and closes it. I each open the txt in libreoffice writer of the version mentioned above and click tools -- language -- chinese conversion. It acts well at first, using about 45MB RAM. After conversion of a txt finished, I close the file and open another. Then when the number of the files that had been converted accumulates up to 5 or more, I noticed in the KDE System Guard(ksysguard) that libreoffice is consuming about 825MB RAM (soffice.bin). And as my computer has only 1 GB RAM, both the system and libreoffice UI is responding rather slowly. But the latter can still convert my file at a slower speed. My processor is AMD Athlon dual core 64 and runs KDE smoothly. additional information: Then I have two choice. One is to quit libreoffice. But ksysguard shows SOFFICE.BIN is still running in the background, taking as much RAM as it does before libreoffice quits. So I have to end the process manually every time. The other is continue using libreoffice. But I often end up pressing CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE to kill xserver because I can't see any responding on my desktop and libreoffice. In fact, I don't know whether it's a problem of libreoffice or one of the Chinese conversion module. And I even disabled libreoffice's JRE but nothing turns better. My install way is to pick up official rpm in your website and run rpm -i *.rpm, and earlier I have removed the openSUSE's libreoffice package 4.1. No sense because it is implemented in a strange legacy fashion, rather I would suggest the slide Layouts content panel for Impress does not belong in the --Properties-- tray, as it is formatting applied to each slide. Rather that the existing --Styles and Formatting-- tray with the Drawing Obejcts Styles and Presentation Styles content panels, should be reworked and should include the selector for slide Layout formatting.
