--- Comment #1 from Matthew Francis fdb...@neosheffield.co.uk ---
Confirmed on OSX 10.9.4 / LO 4.3.1.2, 4.4 master

It doesn't crash for me, but does hang for a very long time (several minutes,
without using CPU) before returning.

Based on the debugging output from master, I can see that LO is actually
attempting to fetch some data over HTTP (!) when the paste is made, and that
this is blocking. Writer returns to life after the requests finish.

- Set to NEW
- Platform: All
- Version: 4.3.1.2 release (earlier versions not tested)

Debugging output attached following.

--- Comment #9 from Adam Niedling kric...@yahoo.com ---
Joel:

a. Delete content in column b/c/d and you won't see a change.

This is not true. If I delete the content of B6, C7, D8, E9, F10, etc... the
height changes.

I disagree that the height of the row should change when content is deleted or
background color is changed no matter what the optimal row height is.

2014-09-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82226

--- Comment #10 from Joel Madero jmadero@gmail.com ---
That's a preference thing and you'll end up in endless debates over what is
better. I'm just saying by default optimal height is set and that changes
depending on what is in the cells. Imagine if you typed something in size 30
font, you'd want the height to adjust (by default) and then if you changed it
back to size 10, you'd want it to adjust. So optimal height is staying and the
behavior is remaining BUT the undo should function right

You run libreoffice with the HOME env var still pointing to ~my_user, not

I have taken the patch from commit 2378f45d70c9ce4a093fd6b09216c1cd4563ebe2
to build with system libgltf, however had to revert these parts of the patch
 concerning avmedia/source/opengl/ogl{framegrabber,player,window}.hxx in
 order to succeed:

 +#ifdef SYSTEM_LIBGLTF
 +#include libgltf/libgltf.h
 +#else
 #include libgltf.h
 +#endif

 3id=2378f45d70c9ce4a093fd6b09216c1cd4563ebe2

Which libgltf version do you use? These defines were necessary only for
libgltf-0.0.0, but the current version (0.0.1) use simpler include path
(libgltf.h).

See libgltf-0.0.1 integration:

(Yes, in theory it's possible to hack around this but that's messy, potentially
hard to maintain, and liable to break with every Android upgrade. Moreover
solving it in the OS would fix ALL applications.)

(In reply to comment #6)
It is impossible to test further without a test file.
If you still encounter this bug with current stable version, could you
attach an anonymized version of your original file ? An easy mean to
anonymize your file is to replace all alphabetical character by x and
 numerical character by 9.

 Thank you for your understanding.

 Best regards. JBF

I just tested the bug with the lastest release of 4.3.1 and it got worse.
Sorting does not at all work on dependent tables. I added again a sample file.

one is working with 4.2.4.2 just fine, but breaks e.g. with 4.2.5 or 4.3.1

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83461] EDITING: The “frequency” matrix function is assigned to the wrong number of cells and becomes unusable

2014-09-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83461

--- Comment #3 from Andy silva...@katamail.com ---
After some further fiddling, I can state the situation more precisely:
- in LO 4.2 or 4.3 when you input a frequency function in a formula, the
visible result is correct but the cells occupied by the formula are not clearly
defined, it depends on what you need to do:
  - if you move the active cell around and each time look at what is shown in
the formula bar, you see the frequency formula only in the correct cells
where frequency values are shown. E.g. if you inserted a 5 interval frequency
count into d3:d7, only when you have one of these cell active you see the
formula in the formula bar;
  - if you need to copy or move by mouse dragging the counts and the formula
behind them, you cannot do that with d3:d7, which is what usually (and
correctly) happens when a matrix formula covering many cells is only partially
selected. The problem is that here the selection is correct (and in fact in
previous releases it worked). After some trials you can see that the minimum
range of cells you have to select to be able to copy/drag is actually C3:E8 in
our example, or in general you must add two columns one on each side of the one
REALLY containing the formula, AND a row below. In reality, other contents
could be in the additional cells, possibly having nothing to do with the
frequency formula, and thus you are forced to copy/drag them as well.
  - if you want to edit and modify the formula, I still have not found a cell
range allowing me to do that: any range will tell you that you cannot modify a
part of a matrix formula. So at the moment I fint it IMPOSSIBLE. Normally you
would just select the range D3:D7, click on the formula bar and edit it.

This all happens in a single session, in which you have created the formula
with frequency function and interact with it without saving closing and
reopening the file. In fact, if you proceed to do that, everything changes!!
When you reopen the file the situation is strongly different. This is it itself
a significant bug: there is inconsistency between what you think you are saving
and what is really saved.
- To be precise, after reopening the calc file the frequency formula appears to
have extended itself one cell further down, i.e. to D3:D8 now, instead of
D3:D7, and in D8 there is in fact an additional value (which is the count of
possible values in the data column higher that the high upper limit you gave as
second argument to the function - normally it is zero as you would like to
include all values in your frequency count).
- Now the consistency between the cells where values are shown and those
actually occupied by the formula is OK, and you can edit the formula in the
usual way; however the unwanted final value in D8 cannot be eliminated because
is part of a matrix function! and of course if you recreate the formula without
it, then erratic behaviour described starts again.

I am really surprised that nobody has run into this problem else than me.

Please note that all of this is being experienced on the Italian locale with
the FREQUENZA function actually; if this is not the case in other locales
please let me know.
Thanks for your attention

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80650] lower case greek alphabet missing in localized Math symbol table

2014-09-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80650

--- Comment #47 from Andy silva...@katamail.com ---
Please let me for once add a comment which is political rather than
technical: to me, the difficulties caused by bugs such as this are not only
due to my own production work with LO. If it were just for this (which is of
course important) any workaround, even a difficult to implement one, would do.

The problem is that I am a teacher and use LO in lectures continuously, and do
this both because it a free software and to spread its usage and appreciation.

So how can I go in class to teach statistics and tell students that the app is
so buggy that you cannot write math formulas anymore, or that you must apply
arcane procedures to be able to do that again, or that you must change locale?

So I agree, to ME personally, locale is quite unimportant, but for the context
where I use LO with the public, switching locale to a foreign one is simply
unthinkable, unless you do not care making LO the object of blatant complaints,
people not wanting to use it, etc.

Unfortunately this is at present the case also with another bug, n. 83461,
related to a significant bug in the frequency function, something that I use
everyday in class. If you have a look at it and would like to express interest,
it would be nice.

Emir, what do you think? We have the new grey top toolbar now. So should we
proceed with more detailed bugs?

I have little hope, that this will get addressed. While I love dark themes, LO
is customizable and the ruler background bug has just been fixed by Kendy as
well. So I feel we're making progress and maybe should continue moving in small
iterations. I do not see a dark theme happening except you make a custom one,
which is really good, extract that and it becomes implemented as a Scheme under
LO Prefs General Appearance.

Also why is this OS X only? Would a dark color scheme be available for all OS?

What do you think?

The thumbnails are stored inside the file
%appdata%\LibreOffice\4\user\registrymodifications.xcu
in the lines that contain the text
['PickList']/ItemList

Neither the change in startcenter.ui nor setting PickListSize to 0 removes
these entries.

The file can be edited with Wordpad (Windows) and the offending lines manually
removed.

The change in startcenter.ui does not prevent new items from being created.
Setting PickListSize to 0 does.

Setting PickListSize to 0 can also be done by editing
registrymodifications.xcu.
Go behind the last line of Common/Drawinglayer and before the first line of
Common/Cache/Writer. Insert there this on one line:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83494] Android Impress Remote should allow selection of UI language

2014-09-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83494

--- Comment #3 from Michael Bauer f...@akerbeltz.org ---
It's not a bug as such, more of a feature and Android doesn't give a toss about
small to medium languages on the whole, I have had debates around this issue
with them for years.

Secondly, fixing in Android would not guarantee a fix, as the number of locales
shipped does not depend on what Android offers but on what the manufacturer
chooses to ship. So you would ALSO have to go around ALL the mobile device
manufacturers to make sure they ship it. Which is totally unfeasible for any
locale.

Lastly, I cannot see how this is something that would break again and again.
Mozilla have just implemented something like that and VLC has had this feature
for many releases and I have not once heard about it causing a problem (except
the one occasion when an over-zealous English monolingual VLC developer
switched the feature off at the VLC end thinking that force-locale was sweet).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80659] VIEWING: Scrolling becomes slow when pictures appear

2014-09-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80659

--- Comment #20 from Garri g.djavad...@gmail.com ---
Hello Jay!

Here is my new findings:

When I open sample_300ppi.odt in LO versions 4.2.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID:
57c54792781cc9befe3a65a97b37fa85f89da0ae) and 4.2.6.2, I experience problems
described in bug 78529 and bug 80659:

1. Document scrolling becomes very slow then a picture appears (80659).
2. There is a delay before characters appear on the screen after the user input
(78529).

When I open sample_300ppi.odt in LO version 4.1.6.2
(Build ID: 40ff705089295be5be0aae9b15123f687c05b0a), I don't experience the
problems, nor 78529, neither 80659.

So, based on my results, regression commit lies between
40ff705089295be5be0aae9b15123f687c05b0a and
57c54792781cc9befe3a65a97b37fa85f89da0ae.

This happens with an empty spreadsheet too.
The bug was originally submitted with the 4.3.0.4 release version and windows
(all) in the info.
It annoyed me since 4.2.0.4 release but I decided to wait and see how this
ends. Nothing changed with 4.3, so reported it. Looked through the list of
bugs, found some that seemed similar but not exactly the same. Anyways, maybe
these are connected somehow.
Captured a video showing how to reproduce. It's available here -

--- Comment #4 from GerardF gerard.farg...@orange.fr ---
May be this bug can be solve by reading the help for FREQUENCY function...

FREQUENCY returns an array whith one more row than the limit range (2 arg of
the function).

You don't need to select a range before entering the formula.
Select only the 1st cell, enter the formula. Then Ctrl+Shift+Enter adapt the
range to the 2nd arg of the function.

If you want to modify an array formula, put the cursor in the 1st cell
containing the formula and press Ctrl+/ (the entire range is selected).

not sure if color is the solution or if the dots should just be darker grey to
increase contrast. make them bigger as well and we should have a solution.

sure, but what exactly is requested here? I don't see you in IRC QA or design

Also I gave reason why I did close the bug, right?

What remains to be done? Fito, can you layout a roadmap or exact actions that
need to be taken here?

On Windows 7 sp1, 64-bit with current release
Version: 4.3.1.2

You don't mention which LO component, so we'll assume all.

Not clear what you are commenting on. When undocked the dialog holding the
sidebar panel can be resized, but it is not stateful for its content. As you
select different tabs to change the content panel in the deck, the dialog
window does not resize. That is as designed.

Are you suggesting an enhancement that the dialog window for the undocked
sidebar should resize to minimally fit the active content panel?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83461] EDITING: The “frequency” matrix function is assigned to the wrong number of cells and becomes unusable

2014-09-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83461

--- Comment #5 from Andy silva...@katamail.com ---
Hello and thanks for your suggestions.
What you write is true, but it is different from the behaviour of the function
in previous versions (and from that of present OO release 4.1.1).
 BEFORE:
- if you inserted the function preselecting one cell (as you say) or k+1 (with
a k array of limit values) you got the k+1 counts, k BELOW you limit values and
the last ABOVE the last limit value.
- if you inserted the function preselecting ANY other number of cells (2, 3,
... k) you got results only in the corresponding cells, the function was
present only in those cells, and could be moved, copied and edited just
selecting the same cells, no more no less. This happened in particular if you
pre-selected k cell, non wanting the count above your last limit value because
you designed the limit values so as to include all case.
 NOW:
- in the first case nothing has changed;
- in the second case above you get the partial results in the pre-selected
cells, but the inconsistency between what results you see and what cells are
part of the matrix that I described in previous comments is there. I think that
in this situation, with no apparent error of which the user is alerted, the
behaviour is - and looks - very amazing and irrational.
When you save close and reopen, results are forced to be shown in full,
regardless of your pre-selected range, so what has happened is that it is
actually NO MORE POSSIBLE to obtain and show partial results of a matrix
function.
Prompted by your comment I extended the analysis to other matrix functions,
noticing that is holds for many (probably all) of them: so there is SOMETHING
THAT HAS BEEN CHANGED IN THE BEHAVIOUR OF MATRIX FUNCTIONS IN GENERAL.

I was not aware of this change and the help documentation does not make it
clear. IMHO the previous situation was much preferable:
- now you have lost a functionality (the ability to produce only partial
results from a matrix function), that you may consider not so relevant, but
maybe relevant to some;
- the behaviour of the sheet when you pre-selct a partial range of cells to
insert a matrix function appears to be strange and inconsistent, since the
ever-present link between what you insert in cells and what you see in the
formula bar is lost, even if you get no error message. And in fact, when you
save and reopen things are different. It would have been better, then, that in
this case you got the forced full results immediately, not only after closing
and reopening the file.
Any further comments of hints are welcome.

@Jay, *,

Works as designed.

The Deck of the docked Sidebar can be dragged down to some minimum width of the
active Content panel(s) using the vertical handle, or hidden if handle is
clicked, but the width of the Deck remains as set. No change, when a different
Tab is selected to change the active Content panel(s) contained in the Deck.

Are you suggesting that the Deck dynamically resize for each active Content
Panel set? IMHO that would be bad UI/UX

If so, setting enhancement.

try to check setting in Tools-Options-LO Calc-Formula-Recalculation of file

In my case after setting Always recalculate is G3=6 after opening the file.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83531] New: Opening URL fails if it's WebDav and write access is restricted

2014-09-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83531

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 83531
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Opening URL fails if it's WebDav and write access is
restricted
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: ole...@gmail.com
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.6.2 release
 Component: framework
   Product: LibreOffice

After running `soffice http://some/webdav/path`, this was the apache access log
from our webdav server:

  PROPFIND http://some/webdav/path HTTP/1.1 207 1043 - LibreOffice
  HEAD http://some/webdav/path HTTP/1.1 200 299 - LibreOffice
  GET http://some/webdav/path HTTP/1.1 200 1504043 - LibreOffice
  LOCK http://some/webdav/path HTTP/1.1 401 709 - LibreOffice

I think that LibreOffice is detecting that the server supports WebDav. Issuing
a LOCK requires additional permissions, so LibreOffice prompts me for
username/password. Since I have no username on this server, I hit Cancel, and
LibreOffice responds with: General Internet error has occurred.

Issue happens both on the command line, via `soffice webdav url` and from the
GUI's open-file dialog.

To test this on a public svn repo, try opening
http://unladen-swallow.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/LICENSE. wget can fetch it
without issue, but LibreOffice shows the following error:

Error reading data from the Internet.
Server error message: 405 Method Not Allowed.

This first started happening to me after I upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04 (which
came with LibreOffice 3.5) to Ubuntu 14.04 (which came with LibreOffice 4.2.6.3
420m0(Build:3)).
