[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 85820] New: MENUS: Moving Table Insert Table and removing Insert Table

2014-11-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85820

Bug ID: 85820
Summary: MENUS: Moving Table Insert Table and removing
Insert Table
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: philip...@hotmail.com
Blocks: 85811

LibreOffice has a dedicated menu heading for Table which has entries and
submenu entries which are all disabled unless you are inside of a table, except
for Table Insert Table. So it would be better than this was moved to the
main menu as Table Insert Table.

We also have the leftover Insert Table item which wasnt removed when the
Table menu was added, so its worth removing it now.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 85614] Accelerate 4.3.4 release to resolve sorting issue with 4.2.7 and 4.3.3

2014-11-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon

These mistakes are causing data loss. Devs, QA, and end users are all
 irritated
by this issue. Let's work on fixing it.

That's a good place to be; thanks for being constructive =)

 Luke - I still have -no- answer however, on whether this bug is truly fixed;
and doing endless (extremely expensive) rounds of releasing without an
 answer
 there would be extremely lame.

Fixed in what? You want us testing 4.2.8 or 4.3.4?

Well - we need to test 4.3.latest from the latest snapshots for that branch -
ultimately, that's what we'd be releasing I think - so the most hammering you
can give that is appreciated. Then again - we're really aiming not for
something perfect - but something as substantially better as we can get it in a
short time I think =)

Kohei commited a patch to 4.2.8 a few hours ago. If you'd like, I'll
 test that out tonight.

I reviewed cherry-picked it a few hours ago indeed; it had been waiting a
while - but I think its best to focus on 4.3.x for now.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 85415] STYLES: Easy access to create new styles from style drop down

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85415

--- Comment #15 from Jay Philips philip...@hotmail.com ---
(In reply to Cor Nouws from comment #14)
 Quite obvious yes :)
As written, it's confusing introducing an additional way of creating a style
that does not have an indication of the way it works.

I see that it works quite straight forward. It gives a user a blank style to
being creating the style they wish to create.

When hoovering the list of styles, one sees the drop down per style so one
will definitely not miss the New in the submenu.

A user will miss the New in the submenu if they never open the submenu.

Also it makes clear to users that there is some dependency.

You can set the dependencies within the dialog.

Furthermore that gives users the full power of new styles inheriting from
 XYZ, without opening the Stylist.

Which is why i said that we do both A and B, so that it fulfills both needs.

I see that we both added this topic to the design team agenda, so let see what
they say on wednesday. :D

odt navigator show content tables as header and tables behind pages

I am trying to finish editing a text I started in LO 3.6 on Windows.
Deleted all images, left style sheet intact.

When I finished the text, I inserted serveral images and pasted some table from
old file. Saved in LO 4.3.3.2 on Ubuntu 14.04 64.

Next time I opened textbox were at the bottom of the page (page 1), frames were
missing, tables are hidden (?) and navigator show as Header the content of some
tables.

If you check on the file attached, in the navigator there is a taula 6 that,
when doubled clicked, it's supposed somewhere behind the page 8-9

Well according to the OOo stats, 84% use the toolbar, 16% use the menu bar, and
less than 1% use the keyboard shortcut. So for those menu users, it would be
good to streamline them to using the table menu for all table related stuff,
and reduce the clutter in the insert menu.

I see that it works quite straight forward. It gives a user a blank style to
being creating the style they wish to create.

Lacking the information that there is inheritance.

Well many users dont know about inheritance, but they know they for example
want to create a new style which has blue text at 20pt and is centered. So for
them to start at a clean slate is something they would understand.

A user will miss the New in the submenu if they never open the submenu.

They will miss all if they do not open the style drop down in the first way.
But once that one is opened, only a blind horse will miss the extra drop
 down :)

Yes most definitely we have many non-style users, but many will likely not miss
the drop down popping up next to each style name, but that wont necessarily
make them choose to open it. ;D

You can set the dependencies within the dialog.

Yes, but in my training-experience there is considerable low tendency to
look at the details at that page - people jump to font.

Which is why we have B for such users. :D

Which is why i said that we do both A and B, so that it fulfills both needs.

As a (long distance) second best.. ;)

As i see it, the older text of 'Accept or Reject' doesnt emphasis that the

whatever its called as long as its understandable in the menu and the toolbar.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 85693] TANGO: Save and save as icons

2014-11-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85693

--- Comment #17 from Jay Philips philip...@hotmail.com ---
(In reply to Mirek2 from comment #16)
Well gnome icons appearing in software will always happen, as the icons are
open source. Document editor seems interesting with their 40x40 icons as
well as modifying a number of the default gnome icons like numbering list.

The large icons are there because of the nature of the ribbon -- not really
 applicable in our case.

Well i believe the ribbon could have been created with smaller icons, but
microsoft chose to use 32x32 icons and above for icons which need more
emphasis.

Gnome doesn't have its own ordered list icon -- the LibreOffice one was
 designed by me.

Thanks for designing them. I'm currently modifying them and will have Alex
create the svgs.

BTW, it'd be great to share our icons with projects like these. I'll ask
someone from the Gnome team if they'd link to icon sets that extend theirs
 from their git repository.

Yes it would be great to contribute something back to them in they are
interested in having it, though i think they would also want larger sizes as
well. :D

Though i have Word 2007, i add the save icon to the top bar, i never click
on the office icon to have seen the purple there, but do use the MS snipping
tool and see they are using the purple floppy icon there (
  http://www.computerperformance.co.uk/images/Vista/snipping_tool.jpg ).

 OK.
Would you be okay with purple, then? Its wide use could help with
 recognition.

I'm fine with the purple as long as it clear. The funny thing is that microsoft
used a black floppy in MS Office for Mac. :D

Well i think if we want to stick with the purple, we try to make it clearer,
similar to ( http://www.jeffs-icons.com/System_Icons.html ) and the ones in
ms office or ms snipping tool. Alternatively we could possibly go the save
arrow on a folder approach like (
  http://www.ulpanor.com/eton/include/images/download_icon.png ) and (
  http://edwardevers.com/javascript/html5/common/images/save_icon.png ).

OK, clearer sounds good, though I don't like the first example you pointed
to. Microsoft's icons are great, though. :)

I liked the solid gray metal part as it stands out well against the purple. :D

The actual Gnome save icon uses a green arrow symbol over a file cabinet,
but it was rejected by the team after Bjorn Balazs's research showed it
 wasn't easily recognizable.

Yes i've seen the gnome save icons of the arrow in the cabinet and didnt think
it was very understandable. Atleast original tango was using a hard disk. :D

Well about the save as icon, i think we should stick with the pencil, as that
is what is used pretty much everywhere and we can pull the pencil from the find
replace icon and add it to the purple floppy.

did a little more investigation... found that in the last patch
i've unfortunately only adjusted ICU's CFLAGS and not CXXFLAGS
so the majority of ICU code was still compiled for SSE2;
this most likely causes lots of crashes in spell checking,
word counting etc.

this should be fixed on master now.

there are still 3 kinds of externals that the analyze-x86.pl script
complains about: 1. firebird and 2. coinmp are not so important because
they are new experimental features anyway; also we patch horrible
things into coinmp's build system which needs cleaning up...

the 3. is basically everything built with gcc-wrapper,
i.e. mostly the more obscure import filters,
and i have no idea how to fix that, evidently the -arch:SSE is
passed to cl.exe; i *hope* it's a false positive from the analyze-x86.pl.

* * *

there is apparently a tool from Intel called Software Development Emulator
that can emulate various x86 CPUs in a fast way with dynamic translation,
so i thought it should be possible to use it for testing...

unfortunately it turns out to be severely under-documented and i couldn't
get it to run soffice, it was always aborting on a SSE2 instruction in
MSVCR110.DLL which indicates that the CPUID still claims SSE2 support,
despite setting it to Pentium3 (the -cpuid-in parameter is undocumented).

--- Comment #4 from João Paulo joaopauloag-freedesk...@yahoo.com.br ---
Hi, and forgive my rude english (non native speaker here).

Running LibreOffice 4.3.2.2, build id edfb5295ba211bd31ad47d0bad0118690f76407d,
on Windows Vista 64 bit edition, this version also presents the same behavior.

Please explain to me why this isn't a bug, as explained on #2 on the last
comment by @Holger?

Also, shouldn't LibreOffice have an option to disable the creation of those
RSIDs? I searched the Preferences, LibreOffice Writer, Comparing (or so it
should be localized), there is no option to fully disable it.

I think this should be treated as a bug, as this behavior is undesired, or at
least as a feature request.

I am reopening this bug, as it makes documents bigger and more complex to
handle than needed, but as of a low and minor importance, as it has a partial
workaround for removing the extra complexity at the cost of removing the direct
format applied.

Feel free to change it to Enhancement, or even to raise the importance of the
bug, but please do not close it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 85826] New: blurry text for retina displays (problem in Info.plist)

2014-11-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85826

Bug ID: 85826
Summary: blurry text for retina displays (problem in
Info.plist)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.3.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Installation
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ylchi...@free.fr

After installation on Macbook Pro with retina display (by replacing previous
version of LibreOffice), I noticed a blurry text once I opened LibreOffice
4.3.2.2. It looked kinda ugly.

Search on internet showed that there is a problem in Info.plist, and that it
can be solved by modifying it, as explained on this webpage:
http://imgur.com/a/0P5KY. It explains for Microsoft Office, but the same
procedure works for LibreOffice as well.

It seems that changing Info.plist in LibreOffice code will prevent this bug to
reoccur.

Specifically, at the end of Info.plist, the following code must have True
instead of False.

keyNSHighResolutionCapable/key
stringFalse/string

Changing it manually, and restarting computer and then LibreOffice was not
enough, as OSX didn't rebuild its Info.plist cache like this. LibreOffice
needed to be copied to desktop, then move to the trash the installed version,
and move to the Applications folder the copied version. Upon relaunch, OS X
then rebuilds its cache and takes the Info.plist change into account.

I can see this under Fedora (4.4.0.0) and XP (4.2.0.4) and it is a bit
inconvenient.

Tab through a table so that you create a new page
Delete the offending row
The row is deleted but the extra, blank, page is still there

Julien's workaround does solve the problem but I see this as an irritating
problem!

I think that Kumara's proposal The stupid name problem is easily overcome by
having the title pre-selected, just as with Save as... in Comment 8 is a
pretty good one. Here I understand that the first words are selected.

When I used MSO I thought the first words file name is a stupid thing. But when
the file needs be saved quickly, There is actually a more precise information
in the filename than Untitled. And this information can already fill the
field file name and replace the current dot if not filename is used yet.

I had again a look in Calc (Lib 4.2.7.2 on XP) and did:
- Help
- Search term: hyperlink
- Selected: Edit Hyperlinks

Result: I got the correct description for Writer however nothing for Calc.

As an overall result I still don't know how to edit a hyperlink in Calc because
the explanation mariosv gave in AskLibO ( see link in my first report) did not
help me.

Editing a hyperlink in Calc means always delete the cell and a new hyperlink.

In respect to the question on where to put the information I would say
Edit Hyperlink

So a couple notes on this:
1. It's not a critical bug, please don't set your pet bugs to critical - we
have a system that works.
2. Removing the whiteboard status as I have no clue what that means - we have a
list of whiteboard status' that are used, that is not one of them.
3. Setting to UNCONFIRMED as it doesn't look like anyone ever confirmed this
and REOPENED is not the correct status regardless

--- Comment #22 from Joel Madero jmadero@gmail.com ---
This was never confirmed by anyone on QA team or developer side - in fact, the
most involved developers heavily disfavor this idea. That being said - REOPENED
is incorrect. Moving to UNCONFIRMED and asking for UX input (as was originally
requested by Kohei but no one took the time to do that).

Please stop messing with the severity/priority for your pet bugsit doesn't
help anyone.

Removing VOTE as it's meaningless and not used by anyone, not looked at by any
developers, and has no impact on the project.

This bug is a disaster. I'm closing it. For anyone still experiencing similar
problems PLEASE:

1. Report a CLEAN BUG that is A SINGLE ISSUE (the first bug reports has 4
issues, this is not helpful for a bug report) WITH REPRODUCIBLE STEPS and CLEAN
AND SIMPLE TEST DOCUMENT.

Thanks - sorry for the caps - but wanted to be clear to avoid having to close
more bugs similar to this one.

Also please always include:
Your version of LibreOffice;
Your operating system.

Please do not reopen this bug - it's not helpful for getting anything fixed.
Closing as INVALID as the original report had 4 reports in one and since then
this bug has gotten worse and worse.
