[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 86239] New: Horizontal split is lost when file reopened

2014-11-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86239

Bug ID: 86239
Summary: Horizontal split is lost when file reopened
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.2.7.2 rc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: juergenme...@yahoo.com

Release 4.2.7.2.
Open a large spreadsheet, select a cell and use Window = Split a horizontal
and vertical splitter will be created. Closing the file and open it again only
the vertical split is still there, the horizontal split is lost. Workaround is
to remove the vertical splitter (unsplit) and recreate both again.
The behaviour is difficult to reproduce because it does not happen all the
time.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 86049] MENUS: Addition of keyboard shortcuts for insert and delete rows and columns

2014-11-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86049

--- Comment #9 from Heiko Tietze heiko.tie...@user-prompt.com ---
(In reply to Jay Philips from comment #0)
We currently have [Ctrl + plus] to adding a cell and [Ctrl + minus] for
deleting a cell and i was thinking that we could use Ctrl + Insert for
insert row, Ctrl + Delete for delete row, Ctrl + Shift + Insert for insert
column and Ctrl + Shift + Delete for delete column.

Ctrl+Insert is an alternative for Copy (along with Shift+Insert for Paste). And
the question is where you insert the new column/row - left or right. Okay,
right now it's only the col left and the row above which can be added by menu.
My first idea was ctr+left/right/up/down but these shortcuts are used to jump
to the next filled cell (I use it always). And together with Shift it selects
the cells between the current and the next one. Alt+left/right
increases/decreases the col width; we could override this IMHO.
On the other hand, it's in fact dangerous to just press two buttons and loose
all data. If you don't see it immediately the undo function wouldn't help.
Therefore my (non-working) shortcuts do only add cols/rows.
Putting all together I think we should keep the current behavior. If it's
unclear where col/rows should be added/deleted, a dialog is shown (unclear in
terms of only one or a few cell are selected). However when a column or row is
selected the shortcut works immediately as expected. And the new toolbar
buttons makes it very easy to modify the sheet.

--- Comment #6 from Björn Michaelsen bjoern.michael...@canonical.com ---
Debian Wheezy is pretty ancient and likely needs a few tweaks to compile recent
LibreOffice releases. I would suggest to look at how the source package for
Debian configures the build (apt-get source libreoffice cd libreoffice*
dpkg-buildpackage). AFAIK Rene even has later releases supported, see:

 http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-openoffice/libreoffice.git/

and look for wheezy-backports. Note that those configurations need some vendor
patching to work with other debian packages (e.g. lpsolve).

--- Comment #3 from Cor Nouws c...@nouenoff.nl ---

I'm sorry but I can't provide the file, it contains sensitive data.
I think it's caused by changing data and then closing the file, then
reopening and going to the faulty sheet.

Having a test case really is important.

Do references to other sheets get recalculated when you change the source
cell or when you select the other sheet ?

It always was immediately.
I think some things changed there recently. At least for opening files
(dependent on the type)
Look at Tools Options Calc .. Formulae .. Recalculate at loading

Saving to xls (it was an ods file) and reopening also solved the problem,
it's too soon to say if only ods files have this prolben and xls files don't.

Newer version, I could check that if you think it makes a difference, I'm
 running linux/el7.

There is 4.3.4.rc1
 http://nl.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/
and nightlies

before and after of the menu

thanks!

After frequent viewing of the impress menubar, i found it quite disorganized

indeed :)

when compared to the writer and calc menubars, so here is a suggest
 reorganization.

The after screenshot doesnt show View Headers and Footers that should
either be in the Edit or Format menus

Edit would be my choice.

and View Start from first Slide is
removed as its already in the Slide Show menu.

Agreed.

Only I doubt a bit about the Ruler. I would think that belongs in the next
group, with Grid, since it refers the active slide. But it's more my feeling
that a - IMO - strong argument..
What do you think?

If you think that the Styles Formatting window is the entry point that
allows you to access any formatting property than this is not completely
 true.

You Should Not Think That
in the first place ;)

The expected behaviour is that you can access the Outline Numbering
functionality from the Styles Formatting window.

Not for me.. nevertheless, I do like this idea:

This problem could be solved be adding an additional Outline Numbering
button to the Styles Formatting window as shown in attachment 105326
 [details] (see bug 83071)

Pls note that the picture shows Outline style
I expect that it opens the dialog Outline Numbering. Is that your idea too?
Then maybe a little distinct icon is needed.

thanks a lot for your help with this!

It is a regular track changes action.

I do understand that it is a 'track change' action, but that doesnt mean

You were not in your comment #31 ..

that it needs to be under the submenu. I had discussed this at the design
meeting and people were fine with the change. Maybe you can bring it up at
next week's meeting if you still feel that it needs more discussing. :D

so I doubt if the people there had proper insight in the situation. So yes,
I think this needs to be looked at again.

This function is about to add all changes made by others in different documents
to the original document. Note that if text out of registered changes is
modified, the merge will fail, so I agree that it's completely related to
changes tracking.
However, the way it's presented now near Compare document, will make the user
ask him the difference between Merge and Compare. So, I support the idea to
remove it from the submenu, it makes the submenu clearer and emphasize the
Merge function. If the Help reflect the new position, this change is good and
will benefit users. Sophie

Hi Miroslaw,

(In reply to Mirosław Zalewski from comment #0)
It seems that Writer does not consider Numbering style part of direct
formatting. When paragraph formatting is reverted to style's default,
 Numbering style is not changed.

From what I know, the displayed paragraph is a result of paragraph style and
applied numbering/bullets. Probably from ODF specifications.
That would make the notice behaviour as expected..
Need to ask a dev, or dive into specs?

Cheers,
Cor

Crop - (Keep scale) - Scale: changed width and height.
After reopening, setting the style to a new instance of the image set the
height to 1% or 2%.
If others try, make sure to move (or delete) any existing image to another
position before setting the style to another instance, so the new instance
doesn't jump on top of the old and confuse you.

Hi Sophie,

Thanks for the reply.

Version: 4.3.3.2
Build ID: 430m0(Build:2)

OS is Linux Ubuntu 14.10

The info for languages is in the Language.jpg file.
The info for date format at cell level is in the DateFormat.jpg file.

I think I understand my mistake because I didn't set the language French in the
options.
The thing is I may use and French and English and mix them up in documents. And
it seems that LibreOffice doesn't allow to specify specific language for some
cells, only for the entire spreadsheet though. If I specify some language in
the cell format windows it seems it doesn't remember my choice. Am I clear in
my description/analysis ?

Best regards,

Alex

Indeed.

However, the way it's presented now near Compare document, will make the
user ask him the difference between Merge and Compare.

Ah.. I always thought the UI was not meant to give puzzles to the user, but to
give guidance.

Merge and Compare both open the same window.
But Merge will result in nothing happening, when used improperly, not in
combination with tracked changes.

Come one pls. This error was introduced due to insufficient understanding of
the function on the first place. No problem, can happen, I make errors all day
long :) But then come back on it (or whatever the proper English saying for
that is...)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 73923] The Download Mirror for Hong Kong (free.nchc.org.tw) is Not Reachable

2014-11-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73923

--- Comment #13 from Christian Lohmaier lohma...@gmx.de ---
yeah, not much we can do. We could restrict access to some network blocks or to
country or similar, but that of course would then affect those users who don't
have the routing problem.
So it is best to contact the ISP and have them ask to look into the routing
problem.

And regarding mirror selection, I think it wasn't clear that when you add
.mirrorlist to the download-URL (or click the info link below the download
buttons on the homepage), you get to a page that shows various checksums and a
list of mirrors carrying the file.

e.g. while

http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/4.3.3/rpm/x86_64/LibreOffice_4.3.3_Linux_x86-64_rpm.tar.gz

will automatically pick a mirror and start the download,

http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/4.3.3/rpm/x86_64/LibreOffice_4.3.3_Linux_x86-64_rpm.tar.gz.mirrorlist

will show the info page that allows you to pick a mirror manually. I'll enhance
the wording in the text on the donation page (if your download doesn't
start.) to also include a blurp about manual mirror selection

(In reply to A (Andy) from comment #1)
 but the position of the
entry SIDEBAR should be the same in WRITER, CALC and IMPRESS.

Yes i will add a similar reorganization of the sidebar section to calc and
writer.

Furthermore, if this change would be done it should also be similar done in
DRAW. Then we would have a consistency in the different LO applications.

Yes it would be good to do it for Draw as well, to bring the consistency with
all the apps.

Note: One difference I have is that I don't have the CLIP ART GALLERY entry
 in my LO 4.3?

Tools Gallery has been moved to View Clip Art Gallery in 4.4.

Regarding the entry HEADER AND FOOTER I agree it should be moved, maybe to
 INSERT.
In CALC you the find a menu item Headers Footers in the menu EDIT. In
WRITER we have two menu items Header and Footer in the menu INSERT. In
IMPRESS it is currently a menu item named Header and Footer in the menu
VIEW. INSERT seems for me to be logical because with this function you
would insert a header or footer. But the naming should also be similar (-
small typing differences in CALC and IMPRESS).

I find this a major problem of having it in different places in different apps.
With impress, after editing the dialog, it inserts details into the slide, so
INSERT does seem logical here. I think it also seems logical to do the same for
calc to keep the consistency between the apps and even there you are inserting.

(In reply to Cor Nouws from comment #2)
 Edit would be my choice.

I was always favoring FORMAT, but after Andy's suggestion of INSERT, i think
that is more suitable. I was favoring FORMAT because though you are inserting
and editing the header and footer, you are also changing the way it looks and
how its is being organized.

Only I doubt a bit about the Ruler. I would think that belongs in the next
group, with Grid, since it refers the active slide. But it's more my feeling
 that a - IMO - strong argument..
 What do you think?

I had put Grid separate from Ruler as i was keeping the section with Ruler with
entries that change the UI outside of the document area, and the section with
Grid with entries that effect things in the document area.

(In reply to Alex from comment #4)
 Hi Sophie,

 Thanks for the reply.

 Version: 4.3.3.2
 Build ID: 430m0(Build:2)

 OS is Linux Ubuntu 14.10

The info for languages is in the Language.jpg file.

Here the setting is English, so separators, currencies, dates, etc... will be
English format

The info for date format at cell level is in the DateFormat.jpg file.

Here also the setting is English.

I think I understand my mistake because I didn't set the language French in
 the options.

yes :)
The thing is I may use and French and English and mix them up in documents.

you should be careful here with Calc because it impacts not only the display
but calculations too.

And it seems that LibreOffice doesn't allow to specify specific language for
some cells, only for the entire spreadsheet though. If I specify some
language in the cell format windows it seems it doesn't remember my choice.
 Am I clear in my description/analysis ?

Yes. However, and I didn't test it with your settings, you should add the
following formats to the Date acceptance patterns field: D/M/Y;D/M;D.M.Y;D-M-Y,
that should allow you to handle French date formats and may be enough.
If you need further help, please come on the users@ list or the Ask forum (info
are available here: http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/community-support/

I'm closing this report, as it's a mismatch in your settings and not a bug.
Kind regards - Sophie

I tried to reproduce, but maybe I don't understand what you are saying.
What is standard style in your 2 and 7?
In 4, you change the style that I understand is used in the presentation.
My expectation would be that 7 happens, so I don't understand what is the
problem.

I changed the Title font to Calibri in the template, opened my test file and
updated styles and it had been changed to Calibri, just like would have wanted
it to change.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 86249] New: clean VirtualDevice constructor ...

2014-11-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86249

Bug ID: 86249
   Summary: clean VirtualDevice constructor ...
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.3.0.2 rc
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: graphics stack
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: michael.me...@collabora.com

The VirtualDevice constructor include/vcl/virdev.hxx has a couple of modes; one
of them looks pretty nasty:

 explicit VirtualDevice( const OutputDevice rCompDev,
   sal_uInt16 nBitCount, sal_uInt16
nAlphaBitCount );

It would be great to check all uses of this method, and see if we can't create
a differently named constructor, or even dummy sub-class that has a nicer name
- that expresses what we want there. I suspect nAlphaBitCount is always zero if
present [ but can't be removed because of ambiguity ].

git grep 'new VirtualDevice'
git grep ' VirtualDevice('

It'd be great to cleanup other calls to VirtualDevice constructors to give them
nice names too I guess with thin sub-classes (?).

Thanks !

Among the many great UI improvements for 4.4 a tiny mistake slipped through.

From the menu Edit, the section
  Track Changes
  Merge Document...
  Compare Document...

Merge and Compare both open the same window.
But Merge will result in nothing happening, when used improperly, not in
combination with tracked changes.
Originally it was in the (Track) Changes submenu, where it belongs.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 86253] New: Copying paste special / Paintbrush of conditional formatting applies wrong range

2014-11-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86253

Bug ID: 86253
Summary: Copying paste special / Paintbrush of conditional
formatting applies wrong range
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.3.4.1 rc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: suokunl...@126.com

Created attachment 109414
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=109414action=edit
test ods file with conditional formatting for A1:C6

Steps to reproduce:

1. Download and save the attached test ods file. This file contains conditional
formatting in cells A1:A6. You can observe the conditions by going to Format -
Conditional Formatting - Manage.

2. Open the saved file, then either:
 * Copy A1, then paste special only formatting to C1; or
 * Select A1, click the paintbrush, then apply to C1.

-- Conditional formatting is correctly applied to C1. A new formatting
condition is created with the range C1. This is expected.

3. But, if you do the following:
 * Copy A1, then paste special only formatting to C1:C17; or
 * Select A1, click the paintbrush, then apply to C1:C17.

-- Cell formatting for C1:C17 is changed. But, if you go to Format -
Conditional Formatting - Manage, you will see that a new formatting condition
is created with the range C1:C6, rather than C1:C17. This is wrong
behavior.

4. Further, if you save the file modified by step 3, then reopen, you see that
cell formatting for C7:C17 are lost. (Of course this is because of the wrong
behavior as discussed above in step 3.)

Version: 4.4.0.0.alpha2+
Build ID: c1358e5dc875bb923f4b5472ba615ebd19f0d057
Fedora 20 X64.

Also reproducible with
4.3.4.1
Build ID: bc356b2f991740509f321d70e4512a6a54c5f243
xubuntu 14.04 64bit

I see that the main codes for conditional formatting is at:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/sc/source/core/data/conditio.cxx
and the recent changes to this file is:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/log/sc/source/core/data/conditio.cxx

Not much changes to this source file, so it may be easier to find the bad
commit.

(This bug was first reported at the Chinese LibreOffice discussion forum and
was confirmed:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83569] Style inherit from impress template broke document styles

2014-11-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83569

--- Comment #2 from Pierre C pierre.choffar...@free.fr ---
Hi Beluga and thanks to get interest to this bug

I've reproduced this bug on many computers and many versions of LO, but as
English is not my native language, surely, it's difficult to me, to correctly
explain the problem.

I've the problem with drawing object style. Standard style is the style at
the top when using hierarchical view of styles.

1 Create a new presentation with template manager. Chose Inspiration
In file/properties, you must see a line with : template Inspiration

2 on the first slide, Add too block of text. the default style is standard
(use F11 to see it) the text is Arial 18

3 save and close your file (test.odp)

4 Launch LO as administrator (you have to do this because template is saved in
location where user can't write. Another way to do it, is to copy a template in
your personal template folder, then you don't have to launch LO as
administrator)

5 use template manager to *edit* the Inspiration template. Change the text
named style (F11/drawing object style). I've changed font to Arial Black 20

6 save and close

7 launch LO, open the test.odp file. Your are asked to update styles. Click on
Yes

== the two text areas are Liberation sans 18 now, and the text named style is
also Liberation sans 18 now

I've just reproduced the bug with LO 4.3.4.1

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 86216] Sort Can No Longer Sort

2014-11-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86216

Here is a second, even simpler spreadsheet that 4.2.7.2 cannot sort properly.
Ask it to sort by column B ascending with A1-B2 as the range.

As for the process described for altering a spreadsheet to remove confidential
data, I have examined it. The process would not remove the uniqueness of the
numbers of the spreadsheet. I might recommend that LO add a 2 functions to
anonymize data in a range. The first function goes through each cell in the
defined range. It examines the contents and replaces it and all identical
occurences of that data (either numerical or text) with a random equivalent
everywhere in all tabs of the spreadsheet. For occurrences found within the
defined range, they are marked as done and are not doubly randomized. Text
becomes random text of similar length. Numbers become random numbers (never
zero) of similar parameters. So $5.45 becomes $10.71, but never 6.024E24 for
instance. The second function does not make global searches and replaces, the
data in each cell is just replaced with random data of similar nature.
Therefore two occurences of $5.45 become different amounts. One might then
randomize a spreadsheet with little manual labour while maintaining the action
of MATCH and SUMIF operations. If the linking of these functions were not
preserved in the randomization of my spreadsheet, it would completely change
the nature of sorting it. However, someone will no doubt point out there is
some other archane system for making suggestions.

Returning to the problem of 4.2.7.2 not sorting correctly,

In this reference:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1389858

Lukebenes reportedly supplied a spreadsheet that 4.2.7 could not sort properly
(the same way 4.2.6 did) with either setting of the secret setting.

Luke (lukebenes) wrote (in part) on 2014-11-11:

...
To be clear, with 4.2.7 there is no way to return to the old style sorting
routine. Some spreadsheets that worked fine in Excel and 4.26 require
UpdateRefs=True, while others require it to be false. Others are broken with
either UpdateRefs setting because of bugs introduced in this new sorting
routine. Is it any wonder users are confused?

I recommend taking his sample spreadsheets from that thread test_offset.ods
and Calc bug.ods and verify those.

This matter is so urgent, I hope someone can use a little imagination and use
these sources in other bug reports as tests.
