[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92167] Documents open with filemanager are not on top

2015-06-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92167

--- Comment #12 from Carlos Rodriguez carlos.rodrig...@tegnix.com ---
Well, googling a little bit it seems that this bug had been around for a while:

Bug #75471 seems to be the same and is marked as duplicate of bug #48300, also
KDE is aware of this in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340915 or
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=339621 where they applied a workaround.

What is mentioned in bug #48300 is that this is a inheriting issue from OOo. I
should mark this as a duplicated of #48300.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92298] Request: functionality on the File Open/Save As dialogue

2015-06-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #4 from thoralf.dass...@gmail.com ---
(In reply to thoralf.dassler from comment #0)
 Hi,

there are minimalist window managers in Linux that do not have the same list
of functions as the big managers (like KDE or Gnome). In particular, I am on
 Enlightenment DR16 1.0.16.001.

Therefore, I'd like to make a request for the following functions to be
 added to LibreOffice.

 Clicking:
File (on the menu bar) Open (or Save As)

This brings up the file browsing dialogue. Please can the following
functions be added: Rename, Copy, Delete, Cut, Paste.

For now, is some-one aware of X applications that add these functions? I
 looked, but was unlucky.

 Many thanks,
 Thoralf

Thank you for your help. Looking forward to the reply.

  Basically you can
NOT use LibO to edit a Word doc in which the chapters are automatically
  numbered,

Did you do some good tests, before writing that? I cannot confirm the
problem as a general issue. (Would have been unlikely, that such an issue
would have gone unnoticed for years.)
Yes this is a general issue.

See bug 50774 (https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50774). That
bug report was opened 2012-06-06. In comment number 8 there the user named
Rainer Bielefeld Retired says: Same effect with AOOo 3.4.1, so seems inherited
from OOo.. He also said: If this is a general problem that is very serious
[...].

Reproduce this bug by making a fresh Writer document. Apply outline numbering
to Heading 1. Save as .doc or .docx, exit. Reopen. Apply Heading 1 to some text
in the middle of doc. Added chapter gets no outline number. After reapplying
outline numbering to 'Heading 1' numbering is wrong (i.e. the headings
formatted in this session get numbers starting from 1). See uploaded example
doc.

This is certainly a bug quite simple to fix, but it makes Tibetan almost
unuseable in LO. The search field seems to search only the first tibetan letter
of what's inside it, and finds many false results.

As an example, open the attached file (created with LO 4.4.4.1-beta from
Debian/sid. It contains just ས་ས་ མྲ་ སྲ་. Then open the search bar (Ctrl+F)
and paste སྲ without the quotes. Click on an arrow, LibreOffice highlights
the first ས་ which it obviously shouldn't.

Outline numbering gets restarted every time doc is opened

Attached file contains a doc w/ outline numbering applied to Heading 1. Every
time the doc is reopened (which I call a session) and style 'Heading 1' is
applied to some text in the middle of the doc, then that heading gets no
number. If one reapplies outline numbering to 'Heading 1' then the outline
numbering of the text to which 'Heading 1' was applied in this session restarts
at 1.

Hi Thomas

sorry, maybe I am a normale, stupid User - what do you mean with GPU
 driver?

No need to put yourself down...no one ever knows everything. The LibreOffice
project values anyone who takes the time to try and help. :)

I am using Win 8.1 on two differnt machines - an I can see teh same
 phaenomen on both computers.

One has an 30 screen connected (2560 * 1600) powered by an Nivada grafic
card GeForce GTX 970, the other on has an Full HD screen (1940*1048) and
 usees the internal Intel grafic-chip.

By the way - rendering seems to be a big problem unter Win. I do have a lot
of grafic - problems and rendering issues...

The driver is a piece of software that effectively runs the hardware. So for
one of your machines you will have an Nvidia driver installed and the other
will have an Intel graphics driver installed.

On Windows you can usually find out the driver version by opening the Nvidia or
Intel graphics control centre. Searching for Nvidia or Intel in Windows may be
the fastest way to find these control centres (they provide all sorts of
information about the graphics chip and the driver version).

It sounds like the issue is prevalent across different graphics chips, so I
think we can change this back to UNCONFIRMED. Unfortunately I can't help to
confirm this bug as my testing machine runs Linux. Lets hope someone else can
test for this issue on Windows.

If you do find the driver versions for each machine, please provide that in the
bug report, could be helpful for the developers. Thanks again for taking the
time to submit the bug report.

Gabriel

OS: Windows (All)

  Reporter: gmmell...@inwind.it

Created attachment 116886
  -- https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=116886action=edit
screenshot help for time format conversion

Opening the local help in Calc and finding for Conversione (conversion) then
clicking on Conversione formato orario (time format) displays the help
Convertire testo in numeri (converting text to numbers), the same help
dispayed clicking on testo in numeri (see the attachments).

You can look at that text help at the link
https://help.libreoffice.org/Calc/Converting_Text_to_Numbers

Converting Text to Numbers (= IT version: Convertire testo in numeri)
Calc converts text inside cells to the respective numeric values if an
unambiguous conversion is possible. If no conversion is possible, Calc returns
a #VALUE! error.
..

The question:
I don't think that is the issue, they are two different arguments.
Further, the help is not clear and example too is very poor (is that what you
intend for conversion?.

May you investigate and explain?
Thanks

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92354] Add UI to load / import .ase .gpl color palettes (Tools - Options - Colors - Load Color List)

2015-06-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92354

--- Comment #5 from Tomaz Vajngerl qui...@gmail.com ---
Yes, the Options-Colors page doesn't support palettes at all. It would be nice
to modify the dialog so that you can browse the available palettes and modify
the colors (same as it is done now for standard palette) and add (copy into LO
config folder) new palettes from an arbitrary location.

The issue is however what to do when the ase or gpl palette is modified as we
don't support saving for this two formats. I guess we can only allow saving
when the palette is soc (for now). I don't think users will be doing this very
often or at all.

Chris, great if you have time to work on this!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 88794] EDITING, editing subtotal function options adds columns group

2015-06-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88794

--- Comment #6 from Dietrich Schulten d...@escalon.de ---
As a workaround, one can use Data-Group and Outline-Remove to get rid of the
superfluous column groups.

I must also say, I do not understand how the column grouping is applied for
subtotals. The column grouping seems not to be documented anywhere.

In the attached sample document, I have grouped by week and let calc sum up
both the the items and the items+1 columns. Hit Data-Subtotals to see what I
did.

The column grouping allows to hide the date and the items column. I fail to see
the logic behind this.

Hello Bernd,
thank you for noting this problem.

David:
at least the libetonyek library is not fully installed, i.e.

can you take a look ?

Note:
- I do not check other libraries, but libwpftdrawlo still works (when I force
it to use the LibreOffice.app libraries), so there are probably fine...

In Writer the Tools Customize Keyboard Functions Category Format
Function includes both the Highlighting and the Highlight fill functions.

What is the difference between them? A regular user can not be expected to see
the difference based on those labels. A different label could be useful. I
don't have any specific suggestion for an alternative label, because I don't
know what the difference is either.

Additionally, as it was reported, the Highlighting shortcut does not work
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34804, which makes the
situation even more confusing for a regular user.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92341] add AutoCorrect Options... to right click spell checking menu

2015-06-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92341

--- Comment #6 from Yousuf (Jay) Philips philip...@hotmail.com ---
(In reply to tommy27 from comment #5)
so this could be an easy hack, right?

Likely could be an easy hack but we have to wait for devs to confirm it and
i've added 'needsDevEval' for them to look over it.

The spellcheck popup menu is defined in

http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/sw/source/uibase/lingu/olmenu.src

and is likely populated at runtime in

http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/sw/source/uibase/lingu/olmenu.cxx

A simple alternative is to have the AutoCorrect options in the first level of
the context menu and separate 'Always Correct to' and it into its own section
like so.

Ignore
Ignore All
Add to Dictionary
Spelling and Grammar...
- separator -
Always Correct to
AutoCorrect Options...
- separator -

If this option is favorable, then i believe i can fix it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92408] New: FILEOPEN/EDITING garbaging data

2015-06-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92408

Bug ID: 92408
   Summary: FILEOPEN/EDITING garbaging data
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: bi...@seznam.cz

Automatic date and time conversion often leads to turning data to garbage.
For example, when you have file with time in both hh:mm and hh.mm
(unfortunately both is valid according to ČSN 01 6910) and you try to replace
'.' with ':' time is changed to date 12/30/1899 08:00:00 (and only 12/30/1899
shown) which is undesired. When you use undo to get this change back, cell
content is changed to 01/07/1900 (i'm very curious why?).

This (and several other automatic changes) is causing big pain when you have to
work with file containing data in more that one (date/time) format and almost
useless when you work with data which seems to be date or time, but they are
not. (f.e: 1.12 as a room number, 2/15 as a catalog number is changed to
2/15/2015).

There should be option (when opening a file or creating new?) to disable all
automatic conversions.

I take it then that we do not have to count on (work starting on) a fix for
this bug to come anytime soon? That will be quite disappointing for a lot of
 LO users I'm afraid...

Not at all, work on the WW8 import/export filters is continual. For example, if
you follow the samples and discussion of bug 50774 there has been noted
improvement.

Otherwise, concise test cases with annotated comparisons in the XML of OOXML
and ODF rendering of the sample documents will provide needed incentive to devs
for correcting the filters. That as opposed to general statements that it is
not working.

In general, differences in XML structure--in describing styles and direct
formatting--is what goes awry with the filter conversion process. Microsoft
handles things differently in OOXML to the XML LO composes in ODF. The
filters have to resolve the difference--an ongoing development task. The MS
.DOC formats are more robust (and less dynamic), but do also have round trip
filter issues--just fewer of them.

Filing useful bug reports aside, a user can put the onus back on Microsoft and
export from there as ODF (e.g. .odt), rather than OOXML (e.g. .docx). Or in a
more parochial sense work only in LibreOffice rendered ODF--that is what
LibreOffice as a project is obliged to support.

This is not reproducible under Linux, so unfortunately not a candidate for
 bibisect

I have a docx document that exhibits similar issue on Linux. The difference
from original report - it adds X letter at the end of comments; not all
comments are affected, still I fail to observe any logic behind affected
comments (creation time, part of document etc.); document has track changes;
it has been created with MS-Word.
I can e-mail the document on request for testing.

Steps to reproduce (please be aware that I am using LO in German and thus I
cannot reliably give all the names of every button to press)
 1) Insert at least two images with trasparency
 2) Open the animation dialog (see
 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17406199/bugtmp/Bug17_1.png )
 3) Select the images and click the button to add all images individually
 4) Create it as a group object. You will see that a background and a border
 has been added
 5) Create it as a bitmap object. You will see that transparency of the
background is preserved and no border is added

Using your provided odp, I copied the source svg shapes to another slide for
testing.
I reproduced the problems.

  Comment on attachment 116892 [details]
Outline numbering gets restarted every time doc is opened

bug 76817 -- Outline Numbering for DOCX not working when new headings
inserted in between, and related bug 50774 -- FILEOPEN DOC/DOCX: automatic
numbering in numbered lists different from Word numbering are both long
 present import/export filter issues.

Native ODF format of outline numbers are not affected when kept in that
format, so while annoying the bugs are not really new nor are they MAB
 candidates.

Also, no need to attach issue specific files to the Metabugs--attachements
 belong with the individual issues.

I take it then that we do not have to count on (work starting on) a fix for
this bug to come anytime soon? That will be quite disappointing for a lot of LO
users I'm afraid...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92406] New: STATUSBAR: Making the statusbar configurable in Writer

2015-06-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92406

Bug ID: 92406
Summary: STATUSBAR: Making the statusbar configurable in Writer
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: ux-advise
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: philip...@hotmail.com
CC: libreoffice-ux-adv...@lists.freedesktop.org
Blocks: 86066

As stated in bug 88367, we have many fields in the statusbar that are of little
use to main users, so rather than removing them as some are opposed to this,
these fields can be hidden by default and then enabled by users who wish to use
them.

Fields i think can be hidden by default :-
1) Text Language - Useful to users who write documents in multiple languages
2) Insert Mode - Cursor indicates which mode you are in
3) Selection Mode - available in Edit menu
4) Document Modified State - save toolbar button provides this functionality
5) Digital Signature - limited to users who digitally sign their documents

I would suggest that the option to enable/disable these fields be accessible in
a View Statusbar submenu along with the the current View Statusbar
checkbox. Alternatively, it would be available in the Tools Options dialog
(LibreOffice Writer View).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 76817] Outline Numbering for DOCX not working when new headings inserted in between (Simple Steps in comment 3)

2015-06-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76817

--- Comment #23 from V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu ---
Certainly, it is an annoyance when using Microsoft proprietary formats, but at
its core it is an interoperability issue in import and export filtering of DOCX
(OOXML) styles.

It is not an issue when the document is held in ODF native formatting, which
would be much more critical an issue.

Not a MAB critical issue.

(In reply to meneerjansen00 from comment #69)
 Comment on attachment 116892 [details]
Outline numbering gets restarted every time doc is opened

bug 76817 -- Outline Numbering for DOCX not working when new headings inserted
in between, and related bug 50774 -- FILEOPEN DOC/DOCX: automatic numbering
in numbered lists different from Word numbering are both long present
import/export filter issues.

Native ODF format of outline numbers are not affected when kept in that format,
so while annoying the bugs are not really new nor are they MAB candidates.

Also, no need to attach issue specific files to the Metabugs--attachements
belong with the individual issues.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92407] New: Copying Spreadsheet Areas to Text Documents

2015-06-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92407

Bug ID: 92407
Summary: Copying Spreadsheet Areas to Text Documents
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.4.3.2 release
  Hardware: Other
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Documentation
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gmmell...@inwind.it

Created attachment 116897
  -- https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=116897action=edit
screenshot help for Copying Spreadsheet Areas to Text Documents

Finding for Copy in the local LO help we get the attached IT help.
The same text is online at
https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Copying_Spreadsheet_Areas_to_Text_Documents
and
https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Copying_Spreadsheet_Areas_to_Text_Documents/it

At item 3-4 you should too inform about the alternative use of Copy-Paste
commands.

At item 6 we see:
(EN) ... You edit the object in its own frame within the text document, but
you see the icons and menu commands needed for spreadsheets.
(IT) ... L'oggetto viene modificato all'interno del documento di testo, mentre
con i fogli elettronici vengono visualizzati le icone e i comandi menu
necessari ad effettuare le operazioni di modifica..

I cannot say if the EN version is well understandable, but the IT is not so.
I think a better understandable translation may be:
L'oggetto può essere modificato nella sua finestra all'interno del documento
di testo utilizzando anche le icone e i comandi tipici dei fogli elettronici
presenti in alto nella 'barra della formula'.
(EN translation: You may edit the object in its own frame within the text
document by using also the icons and commands needed for spreadsheets present
in the top of the 'formula bar'.

At item 7 (both EN and IT) we see help for opening the source document (Choose
Open to open the source document of the OLE object.).
I think it is self-evident and unnecessary as the reference is to the usual
method of opening a file.

Do you agree?

A sample file in which the bug is apparent

Some text fails to display correctly in libreoffice when it's in a certain
font.

The sample file I provided has hebrew text using the Calibri font.
Note that the same text renders fine on LibreOffice Linux as well as on MS
Office (the latter was tested on the same machine as LO5).

Using the Web-Wissard (file - wissards - Web) in step 3 and 4 the preview will
not be rendered.
You will get toop-tipp help on Mouseover (time delay) and when I gave focus to
another Window (not Libo) the actual grafic will be rendered (mostly) - but
getting back to wizzard-frame it disappears again.

Formula Editor on OSX

On my LO50RC2 on OSX I notice that in Formula Editor the symbols in the left
pane are a bit too high so that the first line of symbols gets partly cut off
and also highlighting of the selected symbol is a bit off.

Do not know what previous version this already appeared in, maybe it is a long
lasting bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79641] LibreOffice 4.4 most annoying bugs

2015-06-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79641

--- Comment #75 from meneerjanse...@gmail.com ---
1. Reading the blog that I mentioned earlier is highly recommended for all
people who have ever used MS Office '97 to 2003! See:
https://brattahlid.wordpress.com/2012/05/08/is-docx-really-an-open-standard
It clarifies why there are two ways of saving a document as .docX!

2. Tried to reproduce the bug by making a document in LO and saving it in
Office Open OOXML format (i.e. NOT MS's version of OOXML/docX!).

3. Bug still there.

4. When one saves the document in LO's native open document format (ODF,
confusingly ending in .odT) bug is not there.

Conclusion: the bug does not have anything to do with Microsoft's crappy
implementation of the OOXML standard. The bug has to do w/ the way Libre Office
generates a document in the the OPEN document standard OOXML (confusingly also
called .docx, not LO's fault, see aforementioned blog).

This bug, strangely enough, probably has nothing to do w/. Microsoft!

No worries, only request is that comments be moved to the affected bug

 Its just noise here...

Copied my last few comments to bug 76817. Awfully sorry for all the mixes up
