Bug remains in Version: 5.0.0.5

Let me re-iterate - any notes present on a slide with a comment box are not
visible under any of the available views.

If comments are used by collaborators using MS Office, then a LibreOffice user
is unable to function with such .ppx files.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 93261] New: Persistently high background CPU usage by soffice.bin with high-word-count Writer document

2015-08-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93261

Bug ID: 93261
Summary: Persistently high background CPU usage by soffice.bin
with high-word-count Writer document
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.0.5 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: petercraigmartin...@gmail.com

Hardware OS:

ThinkPad R61 with Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T7500 @2.2GHz, NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M
GPU, and 8GB of RAM, running fully up-to-date Windows 7 x64 SP1.

Problem with LibreOffice 5.0.0.5 x64:

When I have loaded a ~10MB, ~14,000-word Writer file with over 100 embedded
graphics formatted with 3 different custom frame styles, 19 different applied
paragraph styles, 29 different applied character styles, and a fair number of
instances of direct (non-style) formatting, and have finished letting it
repaginate and redo the word count, soffice.bin's background CPU usage, while
I'm not doing anything in LibreOffice or Writer, is 0%, as it should be.

When I have loaded a ~1.5MB, ~720,000-word Writer file with no embedded
graphics, no frame styles, no table of contents, no index, no index entries,
all paragraphs formatted in default paragraph style, all text formatted in
default text style, and all direct (non-style) formatting removed, and have
finished letting it repaginate and redo the word count -- for over an hour --
soffice.bin's background CPU usage, while I'm not doing anything in LibreOffice
or Writer, hovers at around 50%, driving my CPU and mainboard temperature up by
25°C.

The same problem occurs in LibreOffice 4.4.5.2 x86, but to a lesser degree:
soffice.bin's background CPU usage with a high-word-count Writer document
loaded is only 20%.

Unfortunately, the documents with which I tested this bug are proprietary and
confidential and I absolutely cannot post or share them. I am hoping that
someone else will have a nonconfidential high-word-count document on hand and
can confirm it without too much effort. If not, I will eventually try to find a
high-word-count document in the public domain, test it, and submit it if it
bears out my theory.

This bug was enough to cause me to downgrade to 4.4.5.2 x86, as I don't want to
subject my fan, thermal compound, CPU, and mainboard to high temperatures over
a long period of time, especially if I'm not getting any actual computational
work done in exchange.

I really hope this bug can be confirmed with generic documents and fixed, as I
quite liked some of the added features and (apparently) faster loading speed I
saw in LO 5.

By the way, the above testing was done with automatic (background) spell
checking and grammar checking turned off, with both my personal profile and a
default profile. The problem is not my profile or the automatic spell or
grammar checking.

Hi @Dirk, thanks for reporting.

But not a bug, the file has fields with not paired quotation marks in some
fields.

Like in line 152737
2;01;111414;Remtoebehoren;96028;ABS WARTEL 3/8 UNF (G);375

In the import window delete the quotation mark as text delimiter.

In this way works fine for me.

Closed as not a bug, please if you are not agree, reopen it.

2015-08-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93134

--- Comment #5 from Magalaan magal...@gmail.com ---
(In reply to Kevin Keijzer from comment #4)
I'm also having this problem since the 5.0 release from the Ubuntu PPA, and
it seems to be caused by missing the Galaxy iconset if the user only has
 Sifr installed.

For me, everything was solved with 'sudo apt-get install
libreoffice-style-galaxy' and restarting LibreOffice. (After a killall
 soffice.bin from tty1.)

My preposition would be to have libreoffice-style-sifr depend on (so not
recommend or suggest) libreoffice-style-galaxy, so that everyone who uses
the Ubuntu PPA and only has the Sifr iconset installed, will also receive
the Galaxy iconset with the update to 5.0.

Seems Sifr related indeed, I also had Sifr installed prior the update in Ubuntu
14.04. After update to 5.0.0.5 Sifr is still in use and the new icon set is
not added. I only have Human and Sifr. If I change to Human I no longer have
the problem. When I change back to Sifr the problem reaappears after a restart.
However after installing Galaxy problem disappears entirely. The problem only
appears in Writer, not in Calc or the other LO-programs.

Registry description key for X64 Version

Hello,
Some tools like KACE from Dell corporation, use the registry key
DisplayName (on uninstall branch) for list the product to deploye, remove or
update on the Network.
Unfortunatly, Libreoffice X64 use the same displayname as X86 version (ie:
DisplayName=LibreOffice 5.0.0.5).
Other product like 7-zip use a different key (ie: DisplayName=7-Zip 9.20 (x64
edition))
Sugestion: change DisplayName registry for X64 edition (ie:
DisplayName=LibreOffice 5.0.0.5 X64)

Nicolas

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 93240] New: replace boost::ptr_container with std::containerstd::unique_ptr

2015-08-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93240

Bug ID: 93240
   Summary: replace boost::ptr_container with
std::containerstd::unique_ptr
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mst...@redhat.com
CC: libreoff...@lists.freedesktop.org

we use a lot of boost::ptr_container currently:

  git grep ptr_container | wc -l
  286

with C++11 it is now possible to use std::unique_ptr with the C++
standard library containers, and this makes most use of
boost::ptr_container obsolete.

the bundled boost headers require a lot of patches to suppress warnings
so it would reduce the maintenance burden here to use standard C++11
containers instead, and it would also make incremental rebuilds faster
whenever boost is modified/patched.

also with GCC 5's libstdc++ somehow loads of auto_ptr deprecation
warnings are being generated (and ignored) via the boost headers, and
that problem would also be substantially reduced by converting these.

for examples on how to do this search the git log for boost::ptr_

in some cases it is even easier to replace the ptr_container with a
std container that doesn't use unique_ptr but holds the elements
by value - a lot of these containers were converted from awkward
legacy tools containers that forced manual memory allocations everywhere.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 93236] N-UP printing in combination with mailmerge broken via file-print

2015-08-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93236

--- Comment #2 from Christoph Lutz chrl...@googlemail.com ---
I couldn't reproduce this bug with windows. N-UP printing seems to work in
windows. Interesting is here, that N-UP printing shows 4 datasets on the same
sheet. I'm not quite sure that is is intended, since mail merge normally
enforces a new dataset-result on an odd page (for duplex printing). So this
example on windows produces 3 sheets (dataset 1,2,3,4 on the first, dataset
5,6,7,8 on the second and dataset 9 on the 3rd page).

On the linux system, I got 9 sheets instead. Maybe it is better to start for
each dataset on a new sheet!? But nevertheless the bug (white pages since 2nd
dataset) still remains. Ist this bug just related to the cups printing system?

mail merge produces white pages (instead of pages with text) for datasets =2
if N-UP printing is selected. Here is how to reproduce:

0) ensure that PDF is default printer language (setup the corresponding
checkbox in tools-options/LibreOffice/printer)

1) open the attached mail merge document (Sample_document_mailmerge.odt)

2) Use tools-mail merge wizard/insertAdressBlock-choose different
datasource (translated from German UI) to register the attached simple
datasource (einsBisNeun.ods). Cancel Mail merge wizard after that.

3) Use file-print, yes, for mail merge printing. Select print to
printer, OK. Choose a pdf printer (if you have one) and in tab page layout
set pages per sheet to 4. Now start the printing

-- on my linux system I recieve a non empty first page and 8 empty pages.

I assume that this bug is somehow connected to tdf#92324 (similar symptoms)

We intentionally do not enable the dot-zero Fresh releases to be displayed
immediately in the (legacy) updater, until the branch becomes more stable for
everyone; that usually happens in the third revision (e.g., 5.0.3). We only
expect enthusiasts to upgrade to the very latest version shortly after its
release.

That will change when we get our new silent updater, so that people do not have
to manually download a big package from the website ~each month.

Well, I find it a little bit bizarre that LibreOffice defaults to the Gtk3

The official builds are made on CentOS 5, so you can't really build there with
Gtk3. That's the same reason why they don't have KDE4 and GIO support.

I checked on 5.0.0.5 and the situation is far better, albeit not perfect yet:
one can still feel a ~0.5 s lag between a key press and the appearance of the
letter on the screen.

spreadsheet with various horizontal and vertical alignments.

The attached spreadsheet was generated with Apache POI. It simply contains
nine cells with different combinations of horizontal and vertical cell
alignments. It works fine with MS Excel, but has obviously wrong alignments
when viewed with libreoffice calc. (tried both versions 4.x and 5.0).
If I read the spreadsheet with POI, the cell alignments are also correct.

Summary: Calc wrongly reports too many characters in cell
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.4.5.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: m...@home.nl

Created attachment 117757
  -- https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=117757action=edit
CSV text file plus resulting Calc ods file

I tried to import a rather long CSV text file in Calc. The import process took
very long, and when it was finished Calc reported that not all data could be
loaded because there were too many characters for a cell.

That is complete nonsense, as you can see the columns in the text file are not
very wide at all.

I modified the text file, removing leading spaces in front of the semi-columns,
but to no avail.

I have attached the version of the CSV file without spaces, and the resulting
ods file. The latter is very small!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 71339] EDITING sigma icon (sum function) operating on selected range

2015-08-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71339

--- Comment #10 from Anthony Youngman anth...@youngman.org.uk ---
Just adding that I've filed a similar bug (93257) again asking for autosum to
respect the user's selection. This is behaviour I expect from Excel, and I
believe was in QuattroPro before that (that's QP for Win3.11, ie back in the
DOS days).

And even used as described here, autosum doesn't work. Enter a column of
figures, click in the cell below and click autosum. Works fine. Add more
figures below (ie, in the user's mind, the previous sum was a *sub*total). Now
autosum the column again. It creates a new total of just the numbers after the
previous total!

Okay, that behaviour *could* be seen as logical. But if that behaviour is
wanted, surely the user can just stick a blank line after the previous subtotal
to indicate it? If I do that, I always want a new (sub)total of the *entire*
column.

Basically, it seems to me that the design of autosum makes sense, it just
doesn't work in the real world the way most people want to use it :-( (and
breaks the principle of least surprise in that it produces very different
results from what most people expect from other spreadsheets).

Cheers,
Wol

I'm seeing this in all versions: 4.4.4.3, 5.0 (final) and the opengl-enabled
git version that Markus was running in front of me today. Attached here is a
sample file I made containing various images that have text, which makes it
easy to spot bad scaling. When you export the document to PDF, the resulting
PDF looks great when viewed in Evince. The images only look terrible in live
view in Writer (or Impress, or any component).

Because LibreOffice is not a fully implemented Cocoa application. It relies on
its own UI framework for drawing widgets, and windows make use of the only the
most basic of NS Objective-C classes without implementing all the niceties of a
true OSX app.

Valid request, setting to enhancement.

I'm not sure wether this works as designed, but it's working against
expectation:
When I have a lin of body text, and I apply the parapgraph style List 1, the
paragraph gets a bullet and some indentation. However if I apply the paragrapgh
style Numbering 1, I neither get a number, nor do I get indentation.
My expectaion was that the numbering style would add some numbering to the
paragraph.

The sample word file with the mirrored layout

I have created a document in Word 2007 on Windows XP. In this word file, there
are three sections, the first section consists of one page with a title and
subtitle, the second section consists of one page that is blank. then the third
section has the content. This third section uses a mirrored page layout, with
different header and footer for the left and right pages. I have set the header
and footer for the left and right pages.
Now, when I open this file in Libreoffice 5.0.0.5 the left page header and
footer are not displayed.
I am attaching the word file and a pdf of that file (the pdf is also created
using Word 2007 using the option 'ISO 19005-1 complaint (PDF/A)')

I'm also having this problem since the 5.0 release from the Ubuntu PPA, and it
seems to be caused by missing the Galaxy iconset if the user only has Sifr
installed.

For me, everything was solved with 'sudo apt-get install
libreoffice-style-galaxy' and restarting LibreOffice. (After a killall
soffice.bin from tty1.)

My preposition would be to have libreoffice-style-sifr depend on (so not
recommend or suggest) libreoffice-style-galaxy, so that everyone who uses the
Ubuntu PPA and only has the Sifr iconset installed, will also receive the
Galaxy iconset with the update to 5.0.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 93198] gtk3: pasting using middle mouse button doesn't work

2015-08-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93198

Caolán McNamara caol...@redhat.com changed:

   What|Removed |Added

   Keywords|bisected, regression|
Summary|gtk3: pasting using middle |gtk3: pasting using middle
   |mouse button no longer |mouse button doesn't work

--- Comment #2 from Caolán McNamara caol...@redhat.com ---
presumably its not a true regression if the problem is that middle paste works
with the gtk3 vclplug and not with the gtk3 vclplug
