Whenever I insert a space while typing Arabic text the cursor does not move
away from the text. instead the text moves to the left when it's supposed to
stay in the right hand side. I am attaching s screencast in hope that someone
will be able to fix this bug.

   Product: LibreOffice

We have a ton of Writer Templates with Tables in them, that have certain cells
protected (containing formulas). Users sometimes unprotect (right-click on cell
Cell Unprotect) to delete the formula and manually enter numbers.

I just discovered - after updating a lot of our users - that apparently
this is broken in the first 5.x release. There simply is no 'Cell'
context menu option, and nothing in any of the Menus to allow me to
Protect/Unprotect the cell...

File opens fine and doesn't crash with LO 4.4.5 in Windows and Linux.
Newer versions can't be tested because of Bug 89100.
All 48 footnotes open fine.
So, the original problem is gone adn I mark this -- RESOLVED WORKSFORME

Please open a CLEAN, NEW report about the new or residual issues about that
file (for example: 33 pages in LO and 30 in MSO) - which is rather useless
until Bug 89100 is solved.

Since I spent some time looking into this, let me write my impression that
@synerzip is not responding to LO anymore. I concluded that from same bugs
which are their regressions.

Hi Charles,

Thanks for your report here!

The items is removed from the context menu. Via Table Protect cells, you can
protect them...
However, I see now that Table Protect cells is disabled in ... protected
cells :\

So that means you cannot unprotect.

OK for you to change this report in a bug for that?

Cheers - Cor

The items is removed from the context menu. Via Table Protect cells, you
 can protect them...

Can you point me to a/the issue where the rationale for removing this very
useful function from the context menu was discussed?

We use that feature from the context menu all the time.

I'd be fine with it being changed to Table [Un}Protect Cell, but in my
opinion this ability really should be in the context menu.

However, I see now that Table Protect cells is disabled in ... protected
 cells :\

So that means you cannot unprotect.

OK for you to change this report in a bug for that?

I will do so now.

Thanks

Your comment explained why it did not install but I am unsure how it happened.

This PC is connected to a standard 4 port ethernet broadband modem with another
PC running Mint Linux, used now and again and a high speed laser all wired.
As far as I was aware I was using the basic Windows 7 works network, home
network would not connect, so as to connect to a Linux PC and have shared some
data directories, not D:

I will have to look up what you are saying and try and correct it- I have a
suspicion that the latest Windows 7 Upgrade was not good, a couple of pieces of
software do not work as they used to before the upgrade. I normally do not do
upgrades as I find that they add more problems than they fix but it got the
better of my judgement.

Regards

Peter

@Peter, *

Thanks for the install log. Things are a bit clearer now. You did not mention
that you were on a managed network user profile, and that your system (is it
VDI or just a thin client?) has machine GPOs locking down the installation.

These lines from the install log are telling:
MSI (c) (C8:C0) [11:14:57:927]: Machine policy value 'EnableUserControl' is 0
MSI (c) (C8:C0) [11:14:57:927]: PROPERTY CHANGE: Adding RestrictedUserControl
property. Its value is '1'.
MSI (c) (C8:C0) [11:14:57:927]: Ignoring disallowed property INSTALDIR
MSI (c) (C8:C0) [11:14:57:927]: Ignoring disallowed property TARGETDIR
MSI (c) (C8:C0) [11:14:57:927]: Ignoring disallowed property INSTALLLOCATION

In other words it WILL alwasy install to the C:\Program Files, or C:\Program
Files (x86) because that is what your virtualized network profile allows.

One thing that I noticed while watching the video, is that the status bar says
Hindi (which is, according to Wikipedia, written LTR). So the first thing I
would try is to open Tools-Options...-Language Settings-Languages, and set
Arabic for Complex text layout (CTL). And also under LibreOffice
Writer-Basic Fonts (CTL), make sure that the default fonts are ones that
support Arabic.

Currently you can select whether to insert
a space
a TAB
nothing
between the number generated automatically and the text of a heading (similar
may apply for legends and other things automatically creating a number).
Maybe the user wants to insert nut a blank space, but one of the Unicode space
characters like EN QUAD, EM QUAD, FIGURE SPACE, etc. Currently this is
not possible.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 93708] [Feature request] Add search bar for recently opened documents

2015-08-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93708

--- Comment #2 from matthias.t...@gmx-topmail.de ---
(In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #1)
Thanks for the enhancement suggestion. But, the Recent Documents list is
capped at 25 documents, and that is all the more that will reside as
thumbnail views in the Start Center.
I was not aware of that. Thanks for that information.

Personally I'd prefer to see the effort go into implementing enhancement of
bug 80934 -- START CENTER: A GUI means to filter the thumbnail view list of
 MRU recent documents by module

That also sounds like a good idea but the user has to know the format of the
desired document (writer/calc/..) in previous. So if i would like to open
something like finance, it could be a calc or a writer document.

With the following facts i would agree to close this/my request:
* The amount of entries is limited which is intended (i was not aware of that).
* The operating system could provide that functionality (argument from your
mentioned bug 80934, thats correct).
* The implementing enhancement (bug 80934) suggests a fimilar way to find the
desired document.

Please also add Windows 10 to the system requirements page.

Win8 and win10 now appear on the sys req page. I'm not sure about the other
OSes being considered under the label 'supported', so let me do more research
there.

Dropping priority - high, as all known supported OSes now listed.

Hi Ulrich,

Thanks for your report.

When I look at Tools Outline numbering, I can set the Separator before and
After. Any special character can be set there. (Mind: there is some crash
around inserting special characters in a dialiog, in 5.0 - don't know
details)

Does that help for you?
The same applies for any list style, on the tab Options.

Apologies if I misunderstood your problem. Then please explain a bit more.

 Setting as:

 Normal - can prevent high quality work;
Low - fodt is not popular to begin with, then saving that as a docx with a
complexish chart . . . not going to impact many users at all.

The 'fodt' is not part of the problem; it fails in the same way for me with a
normal odt as well; I just tend to save as fodt before posting so I can check
to make sure nothing confidential is left in it.

Would be nice to find out if this ever worked (by testing older versions).

I agree. Being able to view two documents side by side, either as a vertical or
a horizontal align, is a must for many professionals, including translators,
editors, lawyers and physicians.

The loss of its good old MDI (multiple document interface) was one of those
improvements for the worse that make the discerning LibreOffice user facepalm.
An SDI might be easier to understand for some users, but honestly, having MDI
as an option didn’t harm anyone.

After configuring to print #10 envelope
http://i.imgur.com/oMhNWBB.png

Proceeding to print, the paper type is changed to C5
http://i.imgur.com/Xl7OLrx.png

These become the printer properties
http://i.imgur.com/hQShUfv.png

There is no option to print to any envelope type paper size.

This is similar to Bug ID 77277 but this is under Windows, not Linux

We should see they various envelopes listed under the paper size or at least it
keep custom paper size settings for the given envelope type.

Further, orientation is inverted, similar to BUG ID 82370, but again under
windows.

Screenshot showing corruption

Hi Steve__,
As you can see from this screenshot on 5.0.1.1 it's well - VERY corrupt (and
the same on the 4.x I have). So if we're lucky someone just fixed in the 5.1.

When you say it looks different in Word, can you describe how?
When I tried it, chunks of the text were swapped around compared to where LO
had it. To my mind the docx has to look 'right' on Word or there isn't much
point in exporting to it.

But IMHO this isn't a 'low' - trying to collaborate with other people using
Word is unfortunate but necessary for me.

(I'm out for a few days, so might not respond quickly).

--- Comment #8 from Joel Madero jmadero@gmail.com ---
A couple points:

This is a low priority bug - yes you use it in this very particular way but
I've been using LibreOffice (and a contributor) for years and I can say with
full confidence that the vast majority of users don't use it like this (you're
using an unpopular feature...these charting type features);

Plus - it's a non-native format (docx);

Lastly, just know that low does not mean that a volunteer won't fix it, it's
an *objective* criteria as to how impacted our users will be because of the
bug. If a *volunteer* thinks this bug is interesting, they will fix it (whether
it's highest or lowest or something in between). This could happen tomorrow or
it could happen years from now...that's how the project works.

If you absolutely need a fix I suggest considering getting L3 support from a
certified developer:
https://www.documentfoundation.org/certification/developers/

Setting as:
NEW
Normal - can prevent high quality work;
Low - fodt is not popular to begin with, then saving that as a docx with a
complexish chart . . . not going to impact many users at all.

Would be nice to find out if this ever worked (by testing older versions). If
you have time please do so and report back:
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

Thanks for reporting

Hi Ofir,

thanks for the report. I can confirm the attached file in questions should
reverse order than the attached example PDF.

Assuming that Powerpoint would show this correctly (as shown in the PDF)
setting to NEW.

I have no Powerpoint atm to test.

Could be the same as https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93018.

I have tried with LO 5.0.0.5 - copying of forms doesn't work. Moving into
subfolders doesn't work.
But first I tried the LO 5.0.1.2. Here it works.
Seems the bug has been gone with 5.0.1.2.

@Charles: As a workaround you can add it yourself to any menu or toolbar. You
can find it at the Add commands dialog under the Table category. (And the
'Version' field should list the earliest affected version, so I reverted your
change there.)

@Jay: Any chance of adding this command to the Table menu in 5-0? I think we
should consider this despite the UI freeze, because users won't find how to
unprotect cells.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79253] While editing text in table, writer application freezes. Work since last save could not be recovered.

2015-08-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79253

--- Comment #9 from Mark Neuffer mhneuf...@me.com ---
I have no idea if I have filled this inquiry out correctly.

As stated in my summary, I was editing text in a table. The writer application
froze and hung. I had to Force Quit. The work was not recoverable.

I am not real happy about that. The recovery feature was essentially useless.

Back to re-work the document.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 63430] FILESAVE: Image captions disappear

2015-08-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63430

--- Comment #9 from thanasis57 tha...@yahoo.com ---
In LibO 5.0.0.5 I confirm this behaviour (see screenshots).

Steps to reproduce:
-Insert image from file
-Insert caption (frame is automatically created).
-Edit caption as needed.
-Re-open file (caption is invisible)
-Click on image and move it around (the caption re-appears)
-After working on the document the caption re-disappears (randomly)

The document I am working on is 700 pages and under publication, so I cannot
submit it per se. I can, however, post two screenshots, one before and one
after moving the image around.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 93614] Detect hanging OpenGL drivers disable GL ...

2015-08-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93614

--- Comment #11 from Regina Henschel rb.hensc...@t-online.de ---
I have now tested it with an own debug-build with Version: 5.1.0.0.alpha1+
Build ID: d3de490437df4c9093f32e97fc185066d64c0f46 Locale: de-DE (de_DE). A
current daily build for 32bit Windows is still not available.

Start LO, load document media_embedding.odp, start presentation, press Esc.
Use OpenGL for all rendering was always off.

A Hardware acceleration off, Allow OpenGL off: Edit mode in 5s.
B on, off: Edit mode in 2s.
C off,on : Edit mode in 5s.
D on, on : Edit mode in 4s.
Presentations with regular content react immediately on Esc key. But it comes
back into edit mode, that is an improvement.

Start LO, load document media_embedding.odp, start presentation. Click on
free area. Because the presentation has only this one slide Click to exit
presentation should appear.
Use OpenGL for all rendering was always off.
In all four combinations A,B,C,D listed above, I get this: After the click
nothing happens, after around 20s the mouse pointer disappears, still nothing
happens, I have waited further 40s. When I call task manager, then LO reacts
immediately and shows the Click to exit presentation text and after click
goes to edit mode. So I need not kill the process, but behavior is still not
correct.

When I set Use OpenGL for all rendering to on, then the whole UI is
damaged, so I did not test combinations with that.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 93719] New: MAILMERGE: Freezes On Step 5: Adjust Layout in OS X Or Does Not Show Preview on Windows 7

2015-08-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93719

Bug ID: 93719
Summary: MAILMERGE: Freezes On Step 5: Adjust Layout in OS X
Or Does Not Show Preview on Windows 7
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.1.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: kay.wro...@gmx.net

Created attachment 118231
  -- https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=118231action=edit
Sample addresses for Mail Merge Wizard. The data is copied from a file that was
downloaded from another Internet location here:
http://spreadsheetpage.com/index.php/file/mail_merge_demo/

Running the Mail Merge wizard in LibreOffice 5 Writer hangs on Step 5: Adjust
Layout and requires user to force-quit the program. On Windows 7, this step
will not hang, but the expected preview frame inside the left panel does not
show. In addition (on Windows), once user steps forward to Step 6 and then
decides to click Go back, the wizard moves to Step 4 and Step 5 is greyed out
and inaccessible from that point on.

Steps to reproduce the problem for OS X:

1. Open LibreOffice and start a new Writer Document.
2. Click on Tools, Mail Merge Wizard.
3. Select Start from a template radio button
4. Click Browse button
5. Select Business Correspondence from Categories and Modern Business
Letter from the Templates list. Then click ok
6. Click Next
7. Choose Letter and click Next
8. Click Select Address List...
9. Click Add...
10.Browse to the file containing the address data (you can use the spreadsheet
I attached to this bug report)
11.Select the newly added file data source and click Ok
12.Verify that item 4. Check if the address data matches correctly has all
the fields properly mapped (if you use the attached file, they should all be
populated now)
13.Click Next
14. Leave all things as is on the Create a salutation wizard page (Step 4)
and click Next

At this point, the wizard will move to Step 5 and display Adjust Layout
panel. It will show several fields towards the left side of the right panel
area. The right side of the right panel area should normally display a Preview
window. Instead, LibreOffice 5 will now become unresponsive and a spinning
Beach Ball will appear, indicating that the application is not responding. It
will stay like this until the user force-quits LibreOffice.

On Windows 7, this step will also look exactly the same with no preview showing
in the right side of the right panel, but LibreOffice will allow user to
continue the wizard. So on Windows 7, follow the next steps to see the other
odd behavior which I think may be related to this bug:

15.The wizard is now on Step 6: Edit Document. At this point, the list of
steps in the left panel show Step 5. Adjust Layout as greyed out. Click
Back button
16.The wizard will step over Step 5 straight back to Step 4. User will
expect to be back on Step 5 instead.
17.Click Next. The wizard will step over Step 5 again straight to Step 6

On Windows 7, if the user continues with the wizard, properly merged documents
will be created. On OS X, the wizard cannot be completed and the user is left
without any merged document(s).

I am using the version indicated in this bug report (5.0.1.2 release) on both
OS X (Yosemite) and Windows 7 SP1.

@Peter, *

(In reply to Peter Raynor from comment #20)
I would be grateful for some help as to where to correct the fault or should
I roll back for say 2 months before the upgrades and try again?

Until you get your Windows OS issues sorted, there is nothing that will change
in LibreOffice packaging that can make any difference.

The problem is with your Windows installation and with Policies that have been
set--intentional or not. See
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa368359%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

You can try poking at things with the local Group Policy Editor -- gpedit.msc
-- run from a command window Run as Administrator and navigate to

Local Computer Policy - Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates -
Windows Components - Windows Installer. On the right hand panel, review the
settings, they should all probably be Not configured. But if they have been
configured -- the Allow user control over installs corresponds to the
EnableUserControl set in registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer. So to set the
value to that to 1 in the registry, set the value Enabled. If a bunch of
elements there are set other than Not configured something weird has happened
to security on you system.

Hi,

I have spent 5 hours this afternoon chasing my tail to try and reverse these
settings, I think I found one at HKEY_Local and changed the EnableUserControl
value to 1, this did not solve the problem.

I tried a msiexec.exe /a but this installed a nonusable system in L:
I download 5.0.1 and tried again but no luck, reading the articles it seems
that the LibreOffice definition is held in Documents Settings which is not
destroyed on uninstalls to which I have no access. Come back XP all is
forgiven!!

I would be grateful for some help as to where to correct the fault or should I
roll back for say 2 months before the upgrades and try again?

regards

Peter

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 93530] menu non-rendering on click ...

2015-08-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93530

--- Comment #4 from Michael Meeks michael.me...@collabora.com ---
My start on this was (it seems) a big bogus; we don't really need to glFlush
there at all =)

After adding glFlush's across the code, and binary chopping down to a single
nonsensical data-point - I assume memory corruption / non-initialization
instead. Reading:

https://www.opengl.org/wiki/Common_Mistakes#Swap_Buffers

It seems we badly need to glClear() our buffers before we begin rendering; I
pushed a patch that does this and makes the menus work for me on click - and
pleasant it is to see them too.

We should prolly also disable the Windows direct GDI calls that wipe this
memory with direct FillRect() calls very early in their creation to avoid
flicker potential aggravation. Input appreciated.

even more ideally, we should use glClearColor and avoid the Erase that is
performed on each of these drawables as we start rendering to them.
