[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99209] New: LibreOffice hangs upon oopening

2016-04-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99209

Bug ID: 99209
   Summary: LibreOffice hangs upon oopening
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: Other
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jenarin22...@yahoo.com

I have written long articles with my LibreOffice, and have them saved. However,
since yesterday, my LibreOffice Writer hangs (freezes) almost as soon as I open
it.

I've thought of uninstalling and re-installing LibreOffice 5.+ (latest), but
I'm afraid to lose all the material I have saved; and not be able to recuperate
with the new installation.

Please advise. Thank you,

Jerry Vazquez

Sorry, my apologies. I have just done a side-by-side comparison of form editing
on a Windows 7 laptop and an iMac (OS El Capitan 10.11.4). Down the left hand
side list of buttons the iMac has two buttons missing compared to the laptop -
PUSHBUTTON and LABEL FIELD (not the Check box button stated in my previous
comment)

tested)

Importing dokument from older LO Version (from 2012) formula looks well until
it is opened with the formula editor.

Absolutely no need to apologize :) On our side (contributors generally) we just
try to inform and teach users how the project generally works. Imagine a few
thousand bug reports with lots of users "yelling" (symbolically) that their bug
is so super important and demanding answers about why choices are madeit
can become draining and counter productive :)

@Markus: Just to clarify (and to repeat rik's comment), will this feature be
deprecated completely in 5.3?

Thanks all for keeping the conversation pleasant and not making it personal or
counter-productive as some other threads have gone

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99169] Integrate Formula Editor with sidebar

2016-04-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99169

Yes, the issue is how we interact with OLE objects, not just the Formula editor
of the Math module.

For starters doing a sidebar content panel to control some facets of the frame
holding an OLE element would be helpful addition to all the modules. But those
controls would only be for layout, positioning and margins of the frame holding
the OLE. IMHO that control of an OLE frame is overdue across the GUI.

Seems actually linking to OLE controls from a Sidebar content panel would only
be possible for sources where we build the interface: so that would be for
Spreadsheet, Drawing, Formula, Chart, and Text. To control from the Sidebar
the OLE would have to run in the background, yet manipulate GUI commands--is
that even feasible.

Even if it is, imagine implementing control to pass to OLE for use in the
Sidebar would require substantial refactoring and would best be done with a
common framework across the modules.

And, it should be obvious that implementing .uno controls for other OLE content
exposed via the OS (e.g. Insert -> Object -> OLE Object Create New -> Further
Objects) would be a loosing code maintenance proposition. Way out of scope.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99038] Find with character formatting is broken

2016-04-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Created attachment 124235
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=124235=edit
File manifesting several find/replace bugs

Uploading example file of several find/replace bugs. Easier to follow bug info
follows:

LO BUG INFO:
I'm trying to do a straightforward Replace operation and running into several
problems.

I have an .odt file of about 180kb. It originally was a .doc, and consequently
some of the text (the blue text) that was colored is only listed as "User" when
I select the text and look under Properties / color.

Problem 1: This means I cannot do a font color search based on LO color specs.
There is no "search for similar formatting" command that I know of.
Consequently I must use a workaround:
1. I underlined all text, then intended to search for text with the "Automatic"
color set. This would be all text not originally colored.
2. In Replace I specced “Without” underlining. This would leave me with only
the colored text underlined, and
3. I then could do a search for underlined text and change the color.

But several more problems arose.

Problem 2: the Replace All search repeatedly hangs at 50% CPU, for upwards of
an hour. I finally have to force LO down. I have a Core2Duo @2.4GHz, 4GB RAM. I
run LO 5.1.1.3 x64 .deb, and I have dramatically upped LO's memory allotment in
Options.

Problem 3: When speccing the "Automatic" color setting in the Find field, it
enters "White" instead. This appears to be a mere labeling error however.

Problem 4: When doing a trial Replace (not Replace All), the search finds the
underlined text but does not remove the underlining.

So I've got several layers of failure with what should be a straightforward
function.

I confirm that the issue still exists as of LibreOffice 5.2.0.0.alpha0 on Linux
x86_64.

And I have started working on fixing it.

I think I will fix the misleading error message first. Since it is not used
elsewhere, I'll just modify the existing string as "Enter a unique name for the
new primary key data field.\nThe following name is already in use:".

And I'll change "Create primary key" on the first page of the wizard to "Create
additional primary key" to point out that it will be an additional field other
than the "will-be" imported fields. (Or "Create new field as primary key"?)

Then I'll add a checkbox or button named something like "Set as primary key" on
the third page of the wizard.

What do you think?

There have been problems with OpenGL and printing. Do you have this setting
enabled or disabled: Tools - Options - LibreOffice - View - Use OpenGL for all
rendering?

The problem sounds very unfortunate as it causes a loss of ink. I hope it can
be tested with the image scaled to very small size, so the loss is not much.

There might be some fixes to the printing & opengl stuff that did not make it
to 5.1.2. You could test this fresh alpha0 build of 5.2:
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/Win-x86@62-merge-TDF/current/
It installs separately and will not mess with your stable install.

He explained why. He gave a quick fix with crappy code to appease you but we're
not going to keep it around so he's going to remove one of two things to make
the code nicer. If you want to know more, I suggest learning some c++ and
looking at the code.

Markus is one of our most dedicated developers and spending a ton of time
explaining everything he does makes no sense (just not efficient use of his
time). Furthermore, he's explained repetitively throughout this bug why he
doesn't think the current solution is functional.

As far as you not wanting somethingthen don't do it. That's pretty straight
forward.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99169] Integrate Formula Editor with sidebar

--- Comment #2 from Yousuf (Jay) Philips ---
Similar to editing a chart, users would prefer to not have to jump into another
application in order to modify a formula, as the experience is quite strange.
If it is possible to do some basic changes to the OLE (e.g. change the formula
text) from within the sidebar without having to jump into Math, i think it
would be a good UX, but a dev would have to give their opinion on how feasible
it is, as the calc devs mentioned that it would be a major overhaul to do the
same for charts.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99203] New: Error bars disappear after closing/opening a sheet saved as xls or xlsx

2016-04-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99203

Bug ID: 99203
Summary: Error bars disappear after closing/opening a sheet
saved as xls or xlsx
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.1.3 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Chart
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jeanpatrick.franc...@gmail.com

Created attachment 124232
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=124232=edit
xlsx workbook with a data set

Similar to a bug reported in 2013:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62312, marked as solved,
but I still encounter the issue.

Steps to reproduce:
- create a chart with points y=f(x)
- insert error bars from range of cells
- save the file and close it
- open the file: the error bar disappeared

Expected behaviour:
- create a chart with points y=f(x)
- insert error bars from range of cells
- save the file and close it
- open the file: the error bar are there

Note that I don't encounter the problem if the workbook is saved as .ods.
See the attachments.

I work on Manjaro Linux.

With that last bit of detail, seems this is a dupe of bug 96653 and installing
the 5.0.5.2 release, a 5.0.6 nightly or the 5.1.2.2 release or a build of 5.2.0
alpha should resolve things.

> I cannot upgrade to higher than 5.0.5.1 yet as this is not yet in the

>

OK, when your Linux distro or preferred repository packages the 5.0.5.2 release
(or better 5.1.2.2) you should upgrade and retest and see if it resolves your
issue--suspect it will.

As an alternative to waiting on your Linux distro, you can obtain current
project built .deb packages.

In LO 5.1 there is no UI to change anchoring in graphics styles. So I am not
sure if the problem is really in the malfunctioning of "Update Style" or only
that it is not allowed to define anchor in the graphics styles

Are you sure that it was allowed to change anchoring in the graphics style in
some previous LO or OOo version?

To me it does have a problem as we have the headings aligned and the input

You can see that in attachment 124109.

If you think that user input is important to this decision, then please do,
though i would assume that this could be settled with the ux team.

If it still crashes in latest stable 5.1.2, try to get a backtrace of the
crash: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/How_to_get_a_backtrace_with_WinDbg

2016-04-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99202

Bug ID: 99202
   Summary: Blurry fonts in Writer
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.2.2 rc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: trp2...@inbox.ru

In Writer fonts blurry. Disabling anti-aliasing does not work. This problem is
in version 5.1.2.2 and earlier. In MS Word fonts look great.
