Maybe try a newer build from TB39 later. Unfortunately, TB39 seems to be having
a problem and no builds are available currently :(

An other way would be for your to compile 5.2 yourself with --enable-debug,
--enable-dbgutil or --enable-symbols options, but it can be a bit overwhelming,
if you don't have experience with compiling software on Windows. You have to
install Visual Studio and a lot of other stuff. For reference:

Thank you for having a look.

A SMB type path("\\VBOXSVR\tmp") will most likely not open.
If you copy the file to the windows OS drive like "c:\tmp" it should work
better.

We first noticed the freeze occur on a Windows 7 64bit PC. 

The script I run is a bit different, but the one I gave you should be able to
trigger the problem.

Here is sample output from my script run on three different Libre installs;

recalc CTRL+SHIFT+F9 is cell G8 recalculated.

I have retested the bug with LO 5.1.2.2 (Build ID:
d3bf12ecb743fc0d20e0be0c58ca359301eb705f) under Windows 7 Pro (v 6.1.7601 SP1).
 I used the same procedure described in Comment 12, using the Zigzag.odg file:
1. I select the polyline and then the third (middle) point.
2. I click the Smooth Transition button, but it does not remain selected. 
(Corner Point is selected instead.)  The shape of the polyline changes, so that
there is a rounded curve at the middle point, but if I move one of the control
points, the other point does not move, showing that point 3 is still a corner
point.
3. I select the fourth point and then click Smooth Transition.  The shape
changes to a rounded curve, as above, but Corner Point button remains selected.
 I click Smooth Transition twice more, and Corner Point remains selected.  I
move one of the control points, but the other does not move, showing that point
4 is still a corner point.

The behavior is still wrong, and it has been consistently wrong in this test
for about four years, back to at least version 3.5.2.

Please note the source of confusion that became apparent in comments 14 and 15.
 A sharp angle at one point can become a rounded curve (as if the point became
a Smooth Transition), but if the control points can be moved independently,
it's still a corner.  The issue is the actual state of the point, not the shape
of the curve or the state of the button.

I can no longer reproduce this bug.  There have been quite a few changes to the
search toolbar and it appears that one of them took care of this bug.  Of
course, it appears the new search toolbar comes with a handful of other bugs to
report( no wrap-around message, "placeholder for message" [probably for wrap
around message], find prev/next buttons greyed out when toolbar
dismissed/reenabled)

Just an update, I've had it happen in 5.1.2 (64-bit) as well now.

I've tried stressing the headers portion, and I haven't gotten it to happen. 
However, the interesting thing is that it's happens in normal body text now as
well -- specifically the Sender and Addressee styles of an envelope. Still
using the Ubuntu Font. The same thing happened several times -- multiple lines
for the same text element with some letters missing. Another difference is that
it is fixable just by doing a document reload, where before it would require a
full LibO restart.

So, the issues is still there at least, but it's characteristics have might
have changed. I'm beginning to wonder if it's not more related to interactions
with certain fonts.

guys running when you can't reproduce?

i did not use Open With, it's useless because you need to do that for every

Would have to agree with Stuart on the issue of dynamic menu items and it
requiring quite a bit of dev work for minimal benefit.

You also have the problem of recently used style in on document not being found
in another document, so those entries couldnt appear in the list for that
document.

Hi All,

After several unsuccessful connection attempt on my Gmail account
(smtp.gmail.com port 465) we can see that the mailmerge.py file does not load
the library SMTP_SSL but only SMTP

If I replace the line:
self.server = smtplib.SMTP(server, port, timeout=tout)
by:
self.server = smtplib.SMTP_SSL(server, port, timeout=tout)
in the file mailmerge.py the connection work fine.

Is it possible to change this file (mailmerge.py) to supports connections of
type: SMTP and SMTP over SSL on port 465.

Not just Windows 7, also 8.1 and 10

With OpenGL rendering enabled the scaling and positioning of the U+221A "Square
Root" radical glyph is off.  

Without OpenGL the scaling of the glyph is close, but with 8.1 and 10
unexpected font substitution occurs and we get Segoe UI rather than OpenSymbol
so metrics don't quite match--and the  tip of the radical does not meet the
horizontal line constructed above the radican.

I installed the nvidia-340-updates driver and got a unbootable system.
I changed grub to boot in terminal mode (add 'single' to kernel options) and
uninstalled the nvidia-340-updates driver and installed the nvidia-340 driver
instead again.

I read your suggestions when I booted the system and applied the HW
acceleration and OpenCL you gave.
The file didn't crash anymore!

Then I enabled them again, and saw that the file didn't crash either anymore!

I think I 'fixed' the problem by messing around with uninstalling the opencl
stuff. But honestly, I don't know everything I did anymore.

Anyway, my suspicion about driver related stuff was probably right.
Whenever I get similar problems, I'll try out the driver options in LO calc
first.

what I notice is on filter import opening the anchor for the image on page 3 is
positioned outside margins and off the canvas! That is not good.

To see, open and before any changes, adjust the zoom. Then scroll to page 3.

Select the image. 

Check its format, it shows as anchored to character--but the anchor is off the
canvas. Simply move the anchor for the image, anchor jumps into the margins.
Change the anchor to paragraph.

So, suspect an issue with ww8 filter import, or possibly original source of the
.docx document.

Mahfiaz, this problem started occurring after upgrading to LO 5.0 - no other
changes to my Windows set-up at the time (Dropbox, anti-virus, etc).  This
occurred on two different machines, one running Windows 8.1, the other, Windows
10.

Eike, I was told by Buovjaga (see 2016-02-12 message) that 5.1 does not have
the debug symbols, and asked to use a build of 5.2 from Tinderbox no. 39. 
Unfortunately, that kept hanging, thus I never got a backtrace.  Is there some
other way to get that?

I can see the intent but not a fan, primarily because of the complexity of
implementing it correctly as dynamic entries on the main menu.

Complex because to be useful a "recent styles" list would need to be modal to
follow the object type that has focus on the canvas and adjust to list
appropriate style to be applied.

Yes we already have the "Applied Styles" filter on the Styles and Formatting
content panel of the Sidebar. But that already suffers from not following the
mode(s) of the selected canvas object -- Paragraph, Character, Frame, Page or
List.

Kind of see this as requiring a lot of development effort, for minimal returns
and potential for major issues in messing with main menu.

I was saving in XLS format.  I tries XLSX just in case that made a difference,
but it did not, so I reverted to version 5.0.4.2 which works fine.

Incidentally I have since seen other people reporting the issue AND I was able
to replicate the problem on 5 other PCs (Win7/Win10/Win8.1) because we had all
upgraded Libre Office in our office - we have now all gone back to 5.0.4.2.

I do not know if this as the result of some related change in the program... or
maybe I had the program tempoerarily misbehave at the time for some unknown

I can assure everyone SUM works just fine.

What the reporters are seeing is what happens when you want to add text and
numbers. All the numbers (usually aligned right) get added and text cells
(usually aligned left) will be ignored, even if they contain text looking like
numbers. See the attached document.

But this would be bug "Double borders too narrow" not too bold as the current
one is.

screenshots pointing out exactly (red arrows, please) what is wrong.

I think this bug should be closed and reported again.

It would make sense to always round numbers with MOD (lets not forget how fast
modern CPUs actually are) and maybe add MODFAST function which could make
available the behaviour we have now.

So I propose MOD would have similar behaviour:
A3 - dividend
B3 - divisor
C3 - precision =-CEILING(LOG(B3; 10)) + 10
D3 - =MOD(ROUND(A3; C3); ROUND(B3; C3))


I am no expert but similar behaviour could possibly be achieved with just
bitmasking a few last bits off from the fraction part of the doublefloat if the
fraction part is filled eg some of its upper bits (the rightmost ones) are
nonzero.

When bug 61144 was originally submitted it showed multiple problems including
wrong line widths, long lines etc.  The only remaining issue with 61144 in the
recent versions of LO is lines extending beyond the figure boundary, which is
also the issue shown by this bug.

Thank you for the speedy answer.

What I called "Windows Explorer Extension" is what enables the Windows GUI to
make ODF file icons appear as miniatures, showing their content. I could not
figure out how to set the language of LO installer to English, so I tried to
research its name on the internet.

Now I tried to repeat the error, currently I use Windows 10 and LO 5.1.2.2 .
The error did not appear this time, when I set the view of the folder to show
miniatures. Maybe I still used Windows 8.1 when I experienced the bug,
unfortunately I do not remember.

Still no changes; the display is flawless on Linux or Windows builds, but

The bank which saves HTML files and names them .xls is incompetent, although
it's the lazy way to tell Excel to open it.
What puzzles me is why it gets opened in Word (original reporter in first
comment).

Now if you really want to use that file, rename it to .html and open it with
Writer (or skip the renaming part). If you for whatever reason really need the
data in Calc, copy it over.

I'd say still the same ugly file.

Yes, it was because of the OpenGL.

I guess that OpenGL implementation needs some improvements.
I think that OpenGL shouldn't be enabled by default if it has this kinds of
error.

Does this count as resolved? Because the bug is still there if OpenGL is
enabled.
