Running the open-source "radeon" gallium X.org drivers with a Radeon HD 7770
(radeonsi chipset) on Fedora 23 64-bit, with LibreOffice 5.1.1.x and 5.1.2.x
downloaded from the LibreOffice website, some of the LibreOffice dialogs show
broken text glyphs. See attached screencast.

This is with experimental features turned off, and the traditional UI backend
(not the GTK3 one). Couldn't find a way to try out the GTK3 version from the
RPMs downloaded from the LibreOffice website (even if I check "Enable
experimental features")

Those result from autotext replacment of the following trigraphs with paragraph
formatting to set a bottom border edge for the paragraph, resulting in a
horizontal line:

Single line borders
--- (three hyphens)
___ (three underscores)

Double line borders
=== (three equals)
*** (three asterisks)
~~~ (three tildes)
### (three hashes)

Removal of the horizontal line is done by removing the direct formatting from a
paragraph, or by editing the Borders tab in the paragraph dialog.

The writer program adds horizontal lines without being asked to do so. These
are not possible to remove with the usual formatting options. The program
appears to place them at some line breaks, though why it does so is unclear.
Included is a screenshot with one such section highlighted. Another appears at
the bottom left, at the end of the first page. These are all visible after
printing.

LibreOffice changed the formats without asking me. I would not know how to
change them or what the new Libre format is. Hence, it is a software bug as it

On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today, I could reproduce this.

The problem is the file with special character "Lischal?sch.xml"

It's not read as it should in

Indeed the encoding isn't preserved.

Ok, after fixing the overlay issue I can reproduce it. It is a gtk issue with
the clipboard handling. The termination listener tells gtk to flush the
clipboard which somehow tries to store the clipboard content. I'm not sure who
is at fault here.

I suppose the idea here is that you can still paste after the application has
been closed but of course that is going to be an issue when a whole sheet has
been selected.

Hmm, I can't really reproduce this with callgrind. What I see is that after
CTRL+C the overlay code is running amok in calc.

But that does not really explain what you see in the shutdown case. Can someone
give me a step by step instruction set with a document that works in master?

And pls try if Tools > Options > LibreOffice > General .. Use OpenGL

If I open the default pandoc generated docx file in MS Word and then I save it
again, it changes the attributes for the table. I am willing to guess that with
the attributes that pandoc writes to the file, that it could render correctly
in LO, but some attribute is not set to a default. Anyway, I attached the two
extracted document.xml files for compare and contrast. I am not an expert on
docx format.

Formatting Aids .. Protected Areas.

4.0.6.2 doesn't show the drop down field
4.3.7.2 has the same problem.

I've seem quite some doc files with form protection that keep that

Screen print of photo folder with jpegs becoming LibreOffic Configuration File
format

I went to look at some vacation jpeg photos from 2013. I had not looked at them
for some time. When I went to the folder they are in, I found their formats
were changed from jpeg to LibreOffice Configuration File!!!  I do not know
when, since 2013, they were changed. How to I fix this?

Calc will function fine when first opened. But gradually it will become slower
and slower in responding to basic functions - placing a cursor in a cell,
making a calculation, especially applying colors to cells with the pulldown
menu. Any of these can take 3-5 seconds to engage. If you close and reopen it
will again work fine but again gradually degrade. 

Today I monitored RAM usage of the program which made it clear this is a major
memory leak issue. When the program opened it used 258 MB. About 5 hours later
the program was using more than 1 GB of memory. Still the program was
functioning OK. I do not know what memory usage is when it becomes almost
non-functional.

This is unacceptable for a program that claims to be an alternative to
microsoft's excel. I hope those who do the programming work can address this
asap.

If I use pandoc to generate a docx file that contains tables and I open it in
Writer, the tables extend way off the screen. MS Office opens it correctly. If
I tell pandoc to generate an ODT, it appears better in Writer.

A docx document is not helpful here, because it uses
"http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/officeDocument/2006/math;, which requires a
different filter.

This is about the MathML import filter. Our own MathML is not imported from the
pure MathML but from the embedded annotation, which contains the StarMath
string. The part, which can read pure MathML, is in a bad state. The internal
model is designed for StarMath and lacks many properties needed for MathML.

The attached document is far too large. The formulas might have different
problems and it would be good, to make a single issue for each problem, if not
already existing.

I have looked at the formula in the lower part of page 13. It is OLE-object
"18" in the navigator. I can identify some problems:

(1) StarMath does not allow an empty matrix cell. LibreOffice should insert a
small space or an empty string for StarMath in such cases.

(2) The brace for the case distinction is a {. It is imported
as lbrace. That is bad, because it does not preserve the default "stretchy"
attribute of this operator and prevents setting a closing "right none", which
is needed for StarMath, because it requires balanced brackets. LibreOffice
should use a "left lbrace" and insert a "right none", when the enclosed element
is closed and no bracket follows.

(3) The source uses ∣ to represent the lines of the abs
function, where the ∣ is the unicode symbol "DIVIDES". A literal translation
would result in StarMath operator "divides", which does not fit well in this
context.
StarMath itself uses the unicode symbol "VERTICAL LINE" for the lines of the
abs function and imports them as "left lline" and "right lline" in case the
annotation is missing.
I don't know a save algorithm to detect whether a true "divides" is intended or
not.
The operators have no mathematical meaning in Presentation MathML, so it is not
a direct fault, but it is at least bad style by Microsoft.

Well it is a broken document. This is clearly not a bug in LibreOffice. We
somehow try to make sense of the content of the document.

I see the reported behaviour on both Windows-vista (32-bit) and Linux.
However, I am not sure it is incorrect, so I am leaving status
UNCONFIRMED.

MSWord 2003 and recent LibreOffice render the attached .docx with the
images overlapping.  It is after I save that as .html and repopen that
the images are no longer overlapped.

I also tried older versions of LibreOffice.  My oldest LibreOffice on
Windows, when I tried to reopen my "saved-as" file, looped for several
minutes before I cancelled the job.  On Linux, 43max bibisect
repository version oldest, when I tried to reopen my "saved-as" file,
looped and the entire desktop was unresponsive; I cancelled
LibreOffice from the console.

Could the loss of cropping be the problem reported in tdf#42038?

Resolves: tdf#99360 can't select filter criteria with mouse

It will be available in 5.2.0.

The patch should be included in the daily builds available at

Affected users are encouraged to test the fix and report feedback.

Without reproducible steps there's really nothing we can do.

FWIW I opened the file and there's text in the document

Version 4.4 is way EOL you should update to 5.1

Sure all these features have some functionality to someone. But the idea here
is to keep at view features that are only used right in that moment, or use
constantly by most people. Then allow users to freely change things if they
have uncommon needs.

Also note that any improvement takes a side apart from what is common till that
moment, and that inherently means taking the risk of disappointing someone. So
I would pursue satisfying 90% of people, instead of 99%.

After I added http links in the text, saved the file and closed it, upon
reopening the recovery window appeared, and after "recovery" i got an empty
file of 8 pages instead of 25 pages text, only the index remained. When i
copied the "text" and pasted it to gedit only the web adresses that were in the
links I previously inserted appeared.
