In the Open dialog there is a dropdown next to File name where you can restrict
files types supported by the different LibreOffice applications.

I'm not sure I understand the importance of this during Save As. In your use
case there could be files with different formats that are supposed to have
unique names not considering the extension?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99508] HiDPI scaling broken on Wayland with GTK3

GDK_DPI_SCALE=0.5

I can confirm the UI blurriness with the GDK_DPI_SCALE=0.5 env var. I might
also point out that this workaround also shrinks titlebar text, as you can see
in the attachment. This is complete conjecture, but I don't see this env var
change as playing any role in a solution for this bug.

The best practical workaround I've found, if anyone hasn't already seen this,
is to set the env var SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk

Obviously, though, that won't be a final solution for this bug, as it just
switches away from GTK3 features entirely.

Dave, I'm glad this workaround solved the issue for you.
The only purpose of OpenCL is to speed up calculation on formulas depending on
large data sets, utilizing the GPU's compute capabilities. It should work
without any awareness and interaction from the user, unfortunately some vendor
driver versions have issues that manifest in mysterious crashes. (and sometimes
LibreOffice has issues as well)

There's nothing to worry about having it disabled, and the upcoming LibreOffice
releases (5.1.5 and 5.2.0) will have further measures to check the drivers
early, and disable OpenCL if there are problems. So in the future these kinds
of bugs will be avoided, hopefully.

I'm closing this as WORKSFORME. If you encounter similar issues in the future,
return status to UNCONFIRMED.

Alex, Raphaël, thanks for the analysis and confirmation.
I could also reproduce the crash with 5.2.0.3 / Ubuntu 15.10 with Orca enabled.
Not reproduced with 5.1.4.2.

A tad simpler reproduction, it's not necessary to have text in the document,
can start with Instert -> Hyperlink... from an empty document.

Julien, thanks for taking a look at this, would you mind trying to reproduce
the crash in bug 101113? That crash is supposed to be triggered in 5.1.4, and I
had no luck with Ubuntu.

Upping severity to critical, adding bibisectRequest.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101092] Extend "embedding of the datasource definition" to all LibreOffice applications where it can be used.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101092

Hi Cor, thanks for set up.

I think having it in calc or with other task in writer, doesn't need modify the
actual behavior for mail merge.

Perhaps I was not clear enough, I refer to embed all kind of odb files not only
those linked to spreadsheets as database.

Specially in calc it can be invaluable, e.g. in an enterprise environment,
avoiding to register the odb in every computer, so you can access everywhere to
server data in a transparent way, only opening the ods file.

Currently without macros there is no option to have sql queries in spreadsheets
without the odb file, so having it embedded it's not the same but a good
approximation.

And I think except those having inner data, odb files only have a few Kb of
size, so to increase the file should not be an issue.

Ciao, Miguel Ángel.

  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org

Steps to reproduce the problem:

1- From a Writer document, Tools → Bibliography database
2- Pick an entry on the database and drag & drop it to a Writer document
3- Select some fields like Author, etc. from the menu that opens

Result: no matter what you choose for "Insert data as" (table, fields or text)
no information is actually inserted.

Note that if you Drag & drop from the "Data sources" panel (F4) instead, the
fields are inserted without problem.

Gustavo, it wasn't a solution, UNCONFIRMED status simply means that the issue
wasn't reproducible by others, yet.

I also tried with LibreOffice 5.1.4.2 (x86) / Ubuntu 14.04 (x86), by creating a
minimal, 2-slide presentation with random text, and didn't get any errors
during slideshow.
Note that this doesn't mean there's no issue, just that it could depend on some
yet unknown factors.

The suggestion listed under "Graphics-related issues (OpenGL)" here might be
worth a try, if OpenGL rendering is enabled in LibreOffice for you:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101162] New: Performance issues with VCL OpenGL backend (linux, mesa-12.0.1, intel)

2016-07-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101162

Bug ID: 101162
Summary: Performance issues with VCL OpenGL backend (linux,
mesa-12.0.1, intel)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.0.3 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: graphics stack
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: linuxhi...@gmail.com

I was quite curious how LibreOffice-5.2 would perform with all the OpenGL/VCL
tuning that happend in the past months.

Unfourtunatly, the UI still feels quite "laggy" compared to the originaly X11
backend, despite the leading-edge driver stack (mesa-12.0 on intel haswell).
Other 2D programs which use OpenGL for rendering (Firefox, Chrome, Java) do not
exhibit such performance issues, in fact both perform better with OpenGL
enabled compared to their X11/Xrender backends.

Fortunately, the intel driver provides ways to debug unexpected low performance
by setting the environment variable INTEL_DEBUG=perf.

This is what I get:

Quite a lot of messages like: GTT mapping a busy miptree BO stalled and took
20.366 ms.

Some shaders seem to fail at compilation stage: SIMD16 shader failed to
compile: FS compile failed: Failure to register allocate. Reduce number of
live scalar values to avoid this. Unsupported form of variable indexing in FS;
falling back to very inefficient code generation

Cycling through the main menu seems to force endless shader re-compilation, I
soon end up with hundreds of compiled shaders:
Recompiling fragment shader for program 802
  multisampled FBO 0->1
function is no-op
Recompiling fragment shader for program 805
  multisampled FBO 0->1

PS: Furthermore sub-pixel AA does not work when OpenGL is enabled (should I
file a separate report about this?).

But is it trivial to find a seasoned programmer with free time willing to

So I assume steps are:

1. Open Calc, create another sheet
2. Change height of some row and note its value
3. Right click a sheet name and click "Select all sheets"
4. Highlight some rows, including the one with the changed height
5. Right-click - Format cells - Background, select some color
6. Note the height of the row you changed in step 2

I did not notice any change.

If steps are not right, please give correct ones.

The "undo" history is also lost on an update of any index (TOC, Illustration
Index, Index of Tables, etc.), either via its context menu or Tools -> Update

The issue could lead to a data loss, if one wishes to return to a previous,
unsaved document state.

Debugging other things like this that work, e.g. opening files from the command
line I saw that their environment got set in unotools via things like
impl_openStreamWithURL so this looks reasonable to me.

The dialog thing seems to be some problem in master that isn't in 5-2 so that's
something else wrong not directly related to this really.

(In reply to Jose Gómez from comment #6)
> Note that there is no workaround available.

Actually, there seems to be a workaround available: When inserting the index,
select "Illustration Index" (instead of the "Index of Tables") as type, and set
the category to "Table" (instead of "Illustration"). And change the title to
"Index of Tables".

There is a problem currently, though: The "Illustration Index" has a bug - it
loses its hyperlinks after the file gets closed and reopened and the index then
updated. See bug 71737 comment 7. But it could be enough to do, e.g., a PDF
export right after index creation.

As pointed out in comment 5, and since "Illustration Index" and "Index of
Tables" are almost the same, it's strange that the latter doesn't have
hyperlinks. In fact, the issue seems to be rather configurational: The only
difference between the two indexes seems to be their "Structure" in the
"Entries" tab of the "Insert Index or Table of Contents" window, where the
"Index of Tables" lacks the "LS" (hyperlink start) and "LE" (hyperlink end)
fields.

Regina Henschel changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||rb.hensc...@t-online.de

There is no problem adding external sources. It works as before by adding the
path in Tools > Options > LO > Paths.
Assume you have:
Folder "myoffice" with files "one.ott" and "two.ott" and folders "Home" and
"Job".
In folder "Home" is the file "three.ott" and the folder "Children".
In folder "Job" is the file "four.otp".
In folder "Children" is the file "five.otp".

If you add the path "myoffice", then the files "one.ott" and "two.ott", which
are directly in folder "myoffice", are shown in category "My Templates".
The folders "Home" and "Job" are shown as category "Home" and "Job". The file
"three.ott" is shown in category "Home" and the file "four.otp" is shown in
category "Job". The folder "Children" and its content is not shown.

That is the same behavior as it has always been. Nothing changed. Even foreign
templates like *.dotx or *.pot are detected and usable and manually created
folders in "myoffice" will be detected at least on the next start of
LibreOffice. Only the start center is a little bit confusing, because it
collects all templates of the selected kind from all categories.

If you want to make a document on a template, which is not in a path, that is
listed in Tool>Options>LO>Paths, that is possible too. Use File > Open. Then
the document do not track on which template it is based. That too is not new,
but is the same behavior as before.

The "import" enables you to copy an external template into users/template and
assign it in the same step to a category. That is convenient, because you do
not need to access the "users" folder manually, which would expect too much of
some users.

So I really do not understand, what this issue is about.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101161] New: LibreOffice should automatically detect installed dictionary and allow ease in changing to it

2016-07-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101161

Bug ID: 101161
Summary: LibreOffice should automatically detect installed
dictionary and allow ease in changing to it
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: cooks.go.hun...@gmail.com

I have found that even after installing the "English (UK)" language packs on
Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 with GNOME 3.20 that I must set it in the settings for
LibreOffice Writer and the majority of the other ones in the suit require this.

Though I think it would be much easier if if one has the needed language packs
installed for the only thing to really need doing to be setting the "Text
language" thing at the bottom. Currently if I try and do that without setting
it in the main settings in several places it just jumps back to "English (US)"
immediately without giving me any hint of what I should do to achieve what I
want.

I originally filed a report on this issue here however I thought I should also
do so upstream:

Created attachment 126439
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=126439=edit
Test result file (hyperlinks lost)

I can confirm this issue. The Illustration Index loses its hyperlinks after the
file gets re-opened and the index updated.

Test steps:
1. Start LO by opening a new Writer document
2. Draw some figure in Writer (or add an external picture, etc.) and add a
capture to it, of type Drawing or Illustration
3. Insert an Illustration Index, of the respective category (Drawing,
Illustration or even Table if that was added on step 2)
4. Save the created file as ODT, close LO and re-open the same file
5. Update the Illustration Index (either using "Update Index..." in its context
menu or going to Tools -> Update -> Update All

Expected results:
1. New document opens
2. Caption gets added
3. Illustration Index gets added correctly - hyperlinks can be followed by Ctrl
+ left click
4. File gets opened correclty - hyperlinks are still there in the Illustration
Index
5. Hyperlinks are still there in the Illustration Index

Actual results:
5. Hyperlinks are gone from the Illustration Index, although the latter updates
its pages correctly

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 86856] No pixel measurement unit

2016-07-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86856

With the CCS 2.1 standard setting px as 96px/inch, it should be fairly
straightforward to implement PX as a measurement unit. It would certainly help
authors like me that do design of backgrounds and graphical element in pixel
measures for websites and other on screen content to be able to use the same
measures for instance for Impress (which I believe is mainly for on screen
presentations rather than print) to use a more direct approach.

The request has been lingering since 2004 (Issue 35835). I honestly don't get
why this is such an issue. In bitmaps pixels represent points on the map. On
screen it is just the amount of points horizontal and vertical. Rescaling them
has been standard for the past 30 years or so. Pixels are the only measurement
usable in web design and SVG vector graphics use pixels as measurement for
their points in all major authoring software.

The main advantage of being able to use pixels as measurement unit would be to
be able to easily import graphics from third party applications and make work
flow a bit more fluent. Having to set the screen size to 10.6667" by 8"
to simulate a 1024x768 screen isn't all that intuitive. For poor people like me
who use metrics it is even worse if you have to double convert. I'm rather bad
at floating point calculations out of my head.

Please help the effort to move to the paperless office by implementing pixels
as units.

@Samuel, Akshay

So working on Windows with a current build of Master...

A default installation will create share/template adding all bundled templates
there, and a new default profile will create settings/user/template.

But to add other "external" sources of templates it seems we have to Import (or
Export), and only then gain access to the file management (OS or LibreOffice
dialogs) and when imported.

Problem is that a copy gets dropped into a category defined per user profile
settings/user/template. As is, it seems like there no way to link directly to a
centralized template store on a network share.

The Paths dialog allows us to modify the Templates type and Add another
location--but then that is limited to setting a default for newly templates.

It seems like we are missing ability to set alternate paths for Templates. Or
am I just not up to speed with the new UI?

Dear Julien,

I've just tested in fresh installed computer and the problem also appears.
On Gnome, you need to activate Orca (alt+super+s).
On mate you need to :
1) Go to Preferences, system, assistive technologies
2) Check the box "enabled assistive technology"
3) Restart your session
4) Start Orca

After that, you can do the steps I've described. The problem seems to appear
only on Debian Jessie.

Best regards,
Alex.

Libre Office 5.0.6.3 on Windows 7

When doing Save As or Open, I want to be able to see all the filenames and file
extensions which that Libre Office subprogram can open.

For Writer, I want to see docx and other files.

For Calc, I want to see xlsx files and so forth.

For Draw, I want to see .pdf, .gif, .jpg, etc.

It's a big pain to want to choose a filename that's not already being used and
I have to go each time go into a file manager to see the files that are really
there in the folder, then go back into the appropriate window of LibreOffice.

Thanks.

To restate this. 5.1.4.2 allows you to save as OOXML or MS Office (.xlsx or
.xls), but as noted a CSV (comma separated value) file is a text file and will
have no formatting.

attachment 124739 is a CSV filte. It can be opened into LibreOffice Calc or
Writer. It can be exported back as CSV or as an ODF formatted document.

It can also be exported from Calc as a OOXML or MS Office binary file--but any
style applied will be the Template default assigned when opened into
LibreOffice.

No bug here.

Hey Gulsah,

You can leave those out, what is needed is size related entries - row height,
optimal height, column width, optimal width.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100172] Various Graphical Errors In Comment Display or Edit Dialogs

2016-07-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100172

I started preparing to create separate reports and investigated the existing
comment-related reports more closely. It turns out that all of the issues seem
to have existing reports.

(In reply to Colin from comment #0)

This looks like a symptom of bug 73898.

This seems related to bug 98040. I would recommend joining the CC list of bug
98040 and tracking any future fixes.

> 2. Mousing over a comment displays the comment, but the top border remains,
> once the mouse is moved off the cell.

This is bug 73287.

This, like the primary issue, looks like a manifestation of bug 73898.
Personally, I can't reproduce it. I would recommend joining the CC list.

This is bug 68695.

I reverted 70bb8c257e7fc402da60fa70109cece1fe4c69d1, the dialog is called this
function:

In this specific case is called here:

Manually trust it or not: well, the dialog show you the reason:
trying to connect to bugs.documentfoundation.org that present a certificate of
documentfoundation.org.
I think that manually give the user the 'trust/no trust' choice is right.
Probably a different spacing of the message will help understanding, though.

As you correctly guessed for the dialog to be activated the WebDAV UCP provider
needs a command env, so to give you context about

the gerrit is here:
Please note Stephan Bergmann comments.

To address his remarks, I proposed first this:

For this bug I guess that something a bit similar to:

should probably be added. I don't know where though.

Did you run the .msi package "Run as Administrator"?

Otherwise, we will need an installation log. So, from a command window "Run as
Administrator" issue the command:

msiexec.exe /i LibreOffice_5.1.4.2_Win_x64.msi /L*v install-log5.1.4.2.txt

If still having issues, Zip and then post the log.

=-ref-=
Pick up a clean copy of the install package (always good to check the HASH
value of the download against the details pages).

Please don't mix a csv with xls extension in their file name with a true xls
file.
If you like save as xls but as xls format not as csv.

border turns white)

Setting this to enhancement and NEW as the Template manager GUI is doing what
it was redesigned to do--handling additional directory locations is a new facet
simply not implemented.

OK maybe that is the answer, but why this new version (I have 5.1.4.2) does not
allow to save in a "office official format" like *.xls as in previous releases
? Why I have to save as *.ods that is a format not recognized by customers
using MS Office ? we lost some functionality when migrating to 5.* version of
Libre Office
