On 22nd March I received this notification: --- https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93127 --- Comment #10 from Commit Notification --- Eike Rathke committed a patch related to this issue. It has been pushed to "libreoffice-5-1": http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=5e655ecfe007238080941077c6dc6187005e91fa=libreoffice-5-1 Resolves: tdf#93127 copying cells does not modify named expressions It will be available in 5.1.3. The patch should be included in the daily builds available at http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/ in the next 24-48 hours. More information about daily builds can be found at: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Testing_Daily_Builds Affected users are encouraged to test the fix and report feedback. --- I lodged sample a spreadsheet in response to Joel Madero's email, and the bug was solidly reproducible with LibreOffice 4.3.5.2. I've since tested the fix on 5.1.4.2 and it seems OK. I notice the bug number on the above notification (93127) is different to that now shown on Bugzilla (91744). As mentioned above, I did describe it on the OpenOffice Forum before lodging the bug report here, so is it possible that's where the confusion lies? Please email me if this doesn't resolve things. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101599] New: [EDITING] Inserting certain Unicode combining characters causes text in paragraph to appear corrupted.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101599 Bug ID: 101599 Summary: [EDITING] Inserting certain Unicode combining characters causes text in paragraph to appear corrupted. Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.2.0.4 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: mvonpreus...@gmail.com Created attachment 126897 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=126897=edit A visual representation of the bug, showing the corrupted display of text caused by the use of a combining character. Using certain Unicode combining characters in LibreOffice Writer causes text in the same paragraph block as the combining character to appear corrupted, with arbitrary characters replaced with arbitrary other characters. The text itself does not change—if I copy and paste the text to another application, the text I originally typed is preserved—it is merely the display and presentation of the text which is corrupted. To reproduce the bug: 1. Type some text in a LibreOffice Writer document. - Sample text: Everything is fine, until I combine. 2. Type or paste a Unicode combining character into the text. - The characters in the Unicode block U+0300–036F trigger the bug. - Sample text: ⃝ͤ I expect the combining character will be displayed properly, so long as the font supports the character. While this does happen, arbitrary other text in the same paragraph block appears corrupted. Included is a screenshot to demonstrate the bug. The two lines contain the same text, with one exception: the final 'e' on the second line has been replaced by U+0364, COMBINING LATIN SMALL LETTER E. Despite this, the visual display of the text on the second line is substantially different. Of note: - Printing the document or exporting it as a PDF renders the correct text. - Exporting as a JPEG or PNG image renders the corrupted text. - The bug exists with multiple fonts, although which characters appear corrupted for a given block of text varies with each. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101519] draw:fit-to-size set by default breaking layout
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101519 --- Comment #7 from Dave Gilbert--- OK, I can confirm if I move the config out of the way it behaves sensibly; so that leaves two questions: 1) Whatever it is that's set in the config displays differently before and after savings, so you don't notice it's screwed up until you reload it all. 2) How the heck did it get set? Does it correspond to some UI button somewhere? [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101134] The new functions CONCAT and TEXTJOIN wrongly produce output to an array if called to evaluate parameters in array mode.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101134 --- Comment #4 from Wolfgang Jäger--- (In reply to Aron Budea from comment #3) > Created attachment 126823 [details] > CONCAT vs. CONCATENATE > > Yes, this is the exact same report as 99625, except it includes CONCAT. (Not quite exact. See below.) > There are no specifications, as these functions were introduced to be > compatible with Excel's new functions, see bug 97831. Aiming at compatibility the first step should be thorough inspection of the pattern to imitate and tests with it, making sure to not miss something of relevance. Looking for a specification of the pattern may also be possible. The second step is to mould the results into rather plain language and to derive this way a specification for the imitation to be, regarding the changing environment. (Already existing mandatory specifications MUST persist this step.) Only the third step can then be the implementation of the new (imitated) functionality. These steps are urgently needed to be able to distinguish a bad implementation from a misunderstanding concerning the pattern. > I'd prefer to see minimal examples, like the one I'm attaching. ... I so do - within limits. The mentioned example only covers the case of a superfluous call to array evaluation. It demonstrates the bug, but not its severity. After all there are cases where array evaluation is relevant for the working of a formula. I tried to demonstrate such a case, much reduced again. OK. I used 10 rows where 3 or 4 might have done. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101452 --- Comment #6 from Jan-Marek Glogowski--- (In reply to Uwe Dippel from comment #5) > Okay, for the explanation. > Totally not okay for an evangelist of FOSS. "Teaching the user" is a bad > alternative to "doing things right from the start". I definitely don't know what "doing things right from the start" is. Granded we have a legacy codebase, but we're modernizing stuff were possible. > And for mailmerge program, the user doesn't have to understand inner > workings of a software. If user has a single page document and wants to > merge for n recipients, the user expects n single pages, not 2n-1 pages, > with n-1 virtual pages and n real pages. This, sorry, *is* crazy. This is how Writer works internally and this can't be changed. It's one of the basic principles how Writer does internal layouting. This also includes the "everything is a frame" principle. You can change your page setting to single page layout AKA no front or back page, if you really want to prevent the empty pages. But this has probably other drawbacks, you don't want. Now it's no problem to hide internals from the user. As I said, I would be happy to see suggestions for a better and more consistent UI, especially since the print preview really depends on the print settings, which is very non-obvious for the user. Feel free to post your ideas to the design mailing list, or open an enhancement bug report. I thought about moveig at least the "print empty pages" as a button to the preview, so it can be toggled. The preview pages are cached, so it should be fast. > And it is inconsistent. I did work with virtual pages in a publication, but > then empty pages versus full pages would not show (starting a new chapter on > the right side). Virtual page numbers always exist internally. Most time they don't differ from the real ones, but if you MM a document, which has page fields with page numbers, you definitely don't want to use the physical number. > If you always displayed virtual page numbers versus real > page numbers once virtual pages exist, it would be better. I don't understand your suggestion. Please provide an example. The print preview has: "1 10/20". Writer has "page 10 of 20 (page 1)" > Though it would still not be good for mail merge, because nobody knows why a > mail-merged document should always start on the right side. The page setting can be double, right only or left only. The default page setting for documents is double. MM doesn't change anything here. And it just inserts empty pages in double mode AFAIK (didn't check). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101452] Mail Merge produced wrong output.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101452 --- Comment #4 from Jan-Marek Glogowski--- The "crazy page numbering" is probably a little incomprehensible, but correct. "1 141/283" = virtual page 1 on physical page 141 of 283 physical pages. I'm open for and idea for a better status text, which is more "intuitive" for the user. Probably a popup with an explaination would help? There had been some discussion, when I worked in the area: https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/design/msg07516.html So you have a single page document, in the default double page mode. MM works by concat'ing documents and new documents in double page mode always have to start on the right page, as the left page is the back of the previous right page. Therefore MM / LO has to insert an empty page between the documents with an odd page number, From your example: 142 becomes 142 + 141 empty pages = 283 _physical_ pages. And since these are individual documents, every document starts at page one. If you had more pages in your MM you would also see multiple "page two". So numbering the pages per document is correct. Now there is the print preview, which makes it even more complicated, as it depends on the print setting. If you go to "Print..." => Tab "LibreOffice Writer" => "Pages", you'll find "print empty pages". It defaults to "off". If you set this checkbox, close the dialog and re-generate the print preview... tadaa - empty pages. I would like to have a better UI. Ideas welcome. https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/design/msg07516.html -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99625] TEXTJOIN returns wrongly an array when "text argument" is a CSE array.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99625 Wolfgang Jägerchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||j...@psilosoph.de --- Comment #7 from Wolfgang Jäger --- (In reply to Winfried Donkers from comment #2) > The TEXTJOIN examples in attachment 124781 [details] (File with TEXTJOIN > entered as array formula) and attachment 124785 [details] (Excel Online > display) are - as the attachment says - entered as array formula. That means > that the result will be an array. > ... This is simply wrong. Only the evaluated parameter(s) have to be passed to the functions as arrays. Compare with accumulating numeric functions like PROD or IMSUM (actually a kind of text-function). The functions will then have to convert these arrays into sequences (See subchapter 4.11.12 of the mentioned document). Of course, a function body may omit this and treat these sequences as arrays for the sake of efficiency, if the results to obtain are not distorted. Please read subchapter 3.3 of http://docs.oasis-open.org/office/v1.2/os/OpenDocument-v1.2-os-part2.odt . For the data-parameters (all those of CONCAT and starting with the second one for TEXTJOIN) we need a data type of "TextSequenceList" which is not yet specified, but may be assumed in analogy to "NumberSequenceList" or "ComplexSequenceList". The examples attached to bug#101137, in specific the reworked newer one should be taken in account. If you think I should report the errors demonstrated and explained there using orange background for highlighting as independent bugs anew, please tell me. Given a few days I may also find the time to suggest a complete extension to the mentioned specification with respect to this subject. I may also sketch an implementation for CONCAT and TEXTJOIN in pseudocode or in BASIC. (I cannot study and train in my late days everything needed to contribute to the original code myself.) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101110 --- Comment #4 from Jean-Francois Nifenecker--- IMO, this a seldom wanted option. Hence, I guess the wanted functionality could be added through an extension rather than a native development. This could be a toolbar (à-la SearchBar) with a combobox, a Close button, a Search button and a Run button. Specification: 1a. Get the Uno commands list for the running module (the commands are listed in xml files stored within the current installation, in the \share\config\soffice.cfg\modules directory. There are subdirectories by module (sglobal is... well... global). 1b. Each command is associated with a menu entry and/or a toolbar button. Get the corresponding pointer. It is not trivial (for me ;) to find what option or button/icon is associated with what command. 1c. List the uno commands using a combo box 2. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101587] Python extension example crashes LibreOffice.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101587 Alex Thurgoodchanged: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEEDINFO Ever confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #1 from Alex Thurgood --- @Alex : let's start with some questions 1) which python extension in the SDK ? 2) which version of python did the compilation pick up on (when you ran make) ? 3) can you start LO from the command line with the python extension included and provide any output you see on the terminal ? As a general point, from what I recall, the using the SDK on Mac for development of extensions in languages other than StarBasic and C++ has always been problematic (Java and Python being most notably the two main languages posing a problem) : - Java because of JNI instantiation into the threads of an LO process (instantiation itself depend on JRE/JDK version, attempts to instantiate an AWT process outside of the main LO thread, etc) - Python because of the requirement that the python code be completely executable from within the LO application environment (as far as I can remember) Setting to NEEDINFO -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
