text distorted to fit frame

The sample file shows how text is distorted to become almost unreadable, or to
dominate a slide - which is not what one wants.

Not sure if this is same issue (not actually a bug).

It seems as if this changed at some time, or I don't understand how it works.

In a presentation one wants to prevent text from running off the slide.
Therefore the text size should be reduced to fit the frame.

What one does NOT want to happen is for a single word to be stretched to fill
the frame. The text can become unreadable and simply makes no sense - the font
proportions should be maintained.

It also means that when one saves the presentation to a Microsoft format, the
slides are messed up.

I also feel that there are too many places where such font manipulation takes
place and who this is worked out in practice: the same attribute seems to be in
format/position and size as well as format/text.

I can never figure out which has precedence, and when I have figured it out,
next time I try, I have forgotten and have to go through the same process
again.

Great suggestion with the specific steps. I also get the crash with 64-bit

Indeed, no crash with 32-bit build, nor with ODT or DOC format, and not even if
the table is first saved as ODT, and then reloaded and saved again as DOCX.

not notice the thing immediately while editing the slides, but only when
starting the full screen presentation... Thus the non-full screen display was
probably not so different for me too. Please check that the good results you're

Write some lines, apply a predefined bulleted list, and then open "Bullets and
Numbering" from the context menu and look which character style is assigned to
the bullets. You get:
(1) Apply a bulleted list with a single click on the "toggle on/off bullet
list" symbol --> character style "Bullets".
(2) Apply the small circle by opening the drop-down from the symbol in toolbar
--> character style "None"
(3) Apply the style "List 1" --> character style "Numbering Symbols".

Already filed that one today (bug 107001).

Interesting. :D

That is bad. Please file a bug for this and CC me. Would be good to know why
this has implemented so badly, but likely is from OOo days.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107006] Form control properties / Background color / Can only apply recently-used colors

2017-04-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107006

To be more accurate, it's not that clicking a color from the palette does
nothing; that action turns the control white.

To demonstrate, turn the control a different color by selecting a recently-used
color. Then click a color from the palette. The control will not remain the
same color--it will turn white.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107006] New: Form control properties / Background color / Can only apply recently-used colors

2017-04-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107006

Bug ID: 107006
Summary: Form control properties / Background color / Can only
apply recently-used colors
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: miar...@gmail.com

Description:
In Writer, the only way to change the background color of a form control is to
select a color from the recently-used colors. Selecting a color from the
default options will not change the color.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. In Writer, create a form control, such as list box or combo box.
2. The control's Properties box, open "Background color".
3. Select any color.
The control will NOT change to that color.
The color WILL be added to the collection of recently used colors.
4. Click any color from the recently-used colors.
The control WILL change to the color you clicked.

Actual Results:
All is described in the Steps to Reproduce

Expected Results:
All is described in the Steps to Reproduce

Reproducible: Always

If I understand correctly, the Macs that can't run 10.9 are from before 2008.
Should we really be kept hostage by people with ten year old machines who
demand to be able to run current software?

So with MSVC 2015 used now, it should be ok for Windows.
Only have to wait for baseline for MacOS to be 10.9 instead of 10.8.

Writer - default rendering

Can not confirm even with the marginal OpenGL support of the VMWare video
driver on Windows 7 sp1 32-bit, both 5.3.1.2 and 5.3.2.2 builds render with
identical quality with Default rendering and with OpenGL rendering--in Writer
and Impress.

Screen clips of side by side (/a admin installs) with and without OpenGL for
Writer and Impress.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106993] Unable to apply/modify direct formatting of bullet/ numbering character in the Bullets Dialog

2017-04-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106993

If you change the appearance of the bullet "directly", then it is no really
direct, but you are changing the associated character style. For the bullet
list, which you get by the icon, it is "Bullets", for the numbered list, it is
"Numbering Symbol". Such change affects all lists, which have this character
style set for their symbol.

To get the same from the "Bullet and Numbering" dialog, a button "Edit style"
could be added, in case the style is not "None".

If the character style of the bullet is "None", (which means, that the setting
of the paragraph is used), then you cannot change the bullet "directly",
because there is no place to store the information.

Strangely, the character style is very inconsistent set in the default lists.
The small dots from the presets have "Bullets", the large dots have "None" and
the style List1 has "Numbering Symbols".

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107002] New: EDITING: Selecting multiple slide transitions in a row will rendered all transitions sequentially

2017-04-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107002

Bug ID: 107002
Summary: EDITING: Selecting multiple slide transitions in a row
will rendered all transitions sequentially
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.0.alpha1+
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tele...@surfxs.nl

Description:
An active slide transition isn't aborted, when selecting a new one. All the
selected items get queued and rendered sequentially

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Impress
2. Select a template
3. Select Slide Transition in the sidebar
4. Click multiple different slide transitions in a row (8 or so)

Actual Results:
An active slide transition isn't aborted, but will run to the end. LibO will be
quite unresponsive (and CPU hogging: 25% of 1 core; with or without OpenGL)

Expected Results:
Abort the active transition and run the newly selected one.

Reproducible: Always

Go to the Style menu and click any of the styles, then open up the menu again,
can you see which style has been applied?

No need to reset enhancements to UNCONFIRMED. :D

After opening the bullets/numbering dialog, it would then need to be closed and
reopened if the current list needs a new character style associated with it, or
the currently associated character style needs to be modified.

So i propose that an in the Customize tab of the dialog after the character
style drop down list, 2 icon-based buttons be added for new and edit.

The toolbar seems interesting.

> But it also has buttons for List styles and Object styles.

Unlike the paragraph style buttons, eLAIX bundles its own set of list styles
which it applies when the list style buttons are pressed.

> So consider adding List style and Object style buttons.

I've added three list style buttons (Bullet, Number, Roman) to the toolbar, as
those are available builtin list styles. Hopefully when a better set of default
list style are added (bug 106988), more can be added to the toolbar.

When you say Object styles, do you mean Frame styles, and if so, which Frame
styles?

> Maybe even Page styles too.

Which page styles do you suggest? Most of the default ones look the same,
except envelope, landscape, left page, and right page.

(In reply to Thomas Lendo from comment #8)
> The following ideas are an enhancement for a style-focused formatting

> It it's worth I could create a new bug for it (or a bug for every widget?).

Yes it would be a good idea, so i've filed a bug for it (bug 107000).

> One other important point is localization - most languages need more space
> than English, therefore we can't fill the whole toolbar with text buttons.

The finalized toolbar would have icons rather than text, so there wouldnt be an
issue of space there.

(In reply to Thomas Lendo from comment #16)

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107000

Bug ID: 107000
Summary: TOOLBAR/SIDEBAR: list style drop down control UNO
command
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: philip...@hotmail.com
CC: momonas...@gmail.com
Blocks: 86899, 102946, 103239, 103369, 103428

Similar to bug 88512 that requests a character style drop down list, we also
need a similar drop down list for list styles.

It would be useful if the list styles previews were rendered similar to the
list previews in the bullet (.uno:DefaultBullet) and numbering
(.uno:DefaultNumbering) toolbar buttons

It would be useful to have 2 UNO commands for this drop down list feature, 1
without previews and 1 with.

SUMIF and SUMIFS in Calc also treat empty cells different than MS Excel.
In Excel, all compare operators execpt = and <> (that is, <, >, <=, >=) always
return false when one or both sides are empty

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106999] New: Add feedback behaviour to style applying UNO commands

2017-04-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106999

Bug ID: 106999
Summary: Add feedback behaviour to style applying UNO commands
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: philip...@hotmail.com

Blocks: 102946, 103239

When using style applying UNO commands like
.uno:StyleApply?Style:string=Standard:string=ParagraphStyles in the
toolbar and menu bar, they dont provide feedback behaviour that it is applied,
and this would be useful to have in the form of a toggle in button in the
toolbar and a checkmarked entry in the menu bar.

@Maxim: Any thoughts if this is possible, or should we care a new UNO command
for such a feature?

2017-04-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 106998
Summary: it does not support including a form with fields
inside another form containing a table control and
moving from one record to another within the table
control
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jorojma...@gmail.com

Within libreoffice base and on the form browser, it does not support including
a form with fields inside another form containing a table control and moving
from one record to another within the table control I quit the program
directly.

I guess it will be a bug, since with previous versions I did not give this
problem and in the latter versions yes.

a greeting

And keep improving, this project is very exciting.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106993] Unable to apply/modify direct formatting of bullet/ numbering character in the Bullets Dialog

2017-04-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106993

I'm tempted to say that it is logic that you'r not allowed to do direct
formatting in the bullet/list styles dialog (also the 'default'
numbering/bullets is a style, from what I'm told).

So then I would close this one as NotABug..

Clicking just in front of the bullet usually helps.

Hèhè ;)

Hmm, that function allows me to set & manage different formatting for different
list(styles).

I'd file a bug for that.

Disabling direct formatting isnt really an option when you have existing
documents already created in such a manner, not only in LO but also in MSO.

@Regina: Any thoughts?
