[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114968] New: LibreOffice CPU usage at ~100% after opening specific file [docx]

2018-01-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114968

Bug ID: 114968
Summary: LibreOffice CPU usage at ~100% after opening specific
file [docx]
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.7.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: sun...@hotmail.ru

Description:
When i open this file CPU usage goes up to 100%, then at some point it goes
down until you scroll down a few times before CPU usage goes up again. And each
time CPU hits 100% it does it for longer period of time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open attached document
2. CPU usage starts to go up to 90-100%
3. wait until CPU usage backs to normal
4. scroll down until you can't because CPU usageis at 100%, notice how the
freeze part takes longer this time
5. repeat 3 and 4

Actual Results:
At some point the freeze may take 2-5 minutes, depending on the machine you're
testing with.

Expected Results:
Opens as usual, no slowdowns even on weak old notebooks.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
If i copy contents(Ctrl+A -> Ctrl+C) of the file to freshly created odt it
works fast there.

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

Such simple kind of decoration as in "Blue Curve" shouldn't be a raster graphic
at all but a vector graphic, esp. as it is not the background graphic of the
slide, but an image inserted as background object.

As far as I remember it was on one of the later 4.x versions. The one which was
current in the repository of Mageia 5 in januari 2016. 4.5 it might have been.

Tested on 6.0.0.1 (x64) on Windows 10.0. Results are largely the same, except
that switching among the various print destinations available under Windows
results in various paper sizes in the Print dialogue:

Print to file, Microsoft Print to PDF, Send To OneNote 2016: B5 (JIS)
Fax: A4
LaserJet 200: C5 Envelope
Microsoft XPS Document Writer: 6.31"x9.50", no media type shown

Hi Jacques,

I'm working on bug 114635. And I must say that scan should not have been
possible from LibreOffice x64 on Windows. Unless you have:

1. 64-bit TWAINDSM.dll installed by some third party sowtware on your system;
2. True 64-bit TWAIN driver (possibly in form of special software that makes
32-to-64-bit translation, like VueScan).

Could you please describe if you have some of those, or maybe something other
that I don't know about? That would be interesting to allow other 64-bit users
to use their scanners, because scan is currently one of those few areas that
have worse support in 64-bit LO than in 32-bit one.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114964] New: Spreadsheet was not displaying updated values until restarted

2018-01-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114964

Bug ID: 114964
Summary: Spreadsheet was not displaying updated values until
restarted
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: wcah...@gmail.com

Description:
I had a column of formulas that would not change when I edited one of the
ancestor cells. Manually choosing recalculate did not help. I tried
re-creating the formulas in another section of the spreadsheet and they worked
fine. Finally, I closed the document and restarted and the formulas would
auto-recalculate.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Work with a spreadsheet that contains many formulas
2. Edit the underlying data frequently
3. Watch for cells that do not update

Actual Results:
There were 3 cells with formulas that did not refresh/repaint after changing
underlying data, even after choosing recalculate from the menu.

Expected Results:
Cells change to represent recalculated values.

Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce

The problem as described occurs for me in 5.4.4.2, Build ID:
1:5.4.4~rc2-0ubuntu0.16.04.1~lo1. It is not restricted to Canon and Brother
printers; it occurs for me with an HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color, using a print
queue configured for #10 envelopes. Specifically, in the Envelope dialog
Format:Size:Format is set to #10 Envelope with Width 9.5" and Height 4.13" and
Printer:Current Printer is a print queue with media type #10 Envelope. Clicking
on Insert results in creation of an envelope image that is much too tall for a
#10 envelope, and selecting File: Print shows "C5 Envelope" in the Print
dialogue.

I try to learn English. I write some lessons in the Libre Office Writer, and
sometimes I copy the pronunciation on the https://tophonetics.com/ website.
Mostly I write the English word in bold with the English spell-checking
language set. Then I write the second sentence Czech with Czech spell check.
The error will show what I notice when the last bold font is set. I tried to
create two documents Bold - regular.odt and Regular - bold.odt. In the second
document when copying, the entire copied sentence is bold. When I use Ctrl-Z
and paste it again, then everything is fine.

Headings2003.docx: testing example created by Word 2003

I didn't like any of the reproducing example documents, so I made my own simple
one using Word.
The problem is that Writer has this strange "Chapter Numbering" style (or
"outline numbering" as shown by the paragraph style dialog...) that doesn't
show up in the list styles. On import, the heading style's associated numbering
list (although copied to Chapter Numbering) is saved as a new list style. That
WWNumX list style is applied to the "existing" headings, but the strange
"Chapter Numbering" style is applied to new headings, thus the disconnect
between the numbering.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114963] New: Its behavior of SVG file exported by Draw has some error on some modern browsers.

2018-01-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114963

Bug ID: 114963
Summary: Its behavior of SVG file exported by Draw has some
error on some modern browsers.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: macheapso...@outlook.com

Description:
Case 1.The SVG file which has a hyperlink for its one of objects, which is
exported by LibreOffice Draw can't work for indicating that it is a link object
by hand-icon (Mouse pointer doesn't change to hand-icon even if I put the mouse
on the object): The case of Chrome and Opera

Case 2.If there is a text object on the SVG file that is set color other than
black and has a hyperlink, its color is canceled to black color of the default
on some modern browsers. In that case, user cannot find that it is a text
hyperlinked: The case of Chrome and Opera

In the case of above, though that hyperlink works if a user clicks that object.

If you use Firefox or IE 11, you don't encounter above cases. These do render
the SVG that from LibreOffice correctly.

I have found these issues using Windows 8.1 64bit and Firefox, IE11, Chrome,
Opera.

I hope that someone picks up this bottle-mail, its words work correctly for
understanding and someone resolves this issue. thank you.

Steps to Reproduce:
for Case 1:
1.create a text.
2.set the text hyperlink.
3.export the file as an SVG.
4.open the SVG file by each mainly modern browsers.

for Case 2:
1.create a text.
2.set to the text any color other than black.
3.set the text hyperlink.
4.export the file as an SVG.
5.open the SVG file by each mainly modern browsers.

Actual Results:
Actual(bad) results are the view and feature of the SVG file by Chrome and
Opera at least.

Expected Results:
Expected results are the view and feature of the SVG file by Firefox.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 113751] Borders for Merged Cells are Partially Shown

2018-01-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=113751

--- Comment #14 from Armin Le Grand (CIB) ---
Compared with local installed Version: 5.1.5.2 (x64), indeed there all merged
cell borders get shown always, so there seems to be a regression. The example
is too huge for debugging, I will try to create a minimal example. BTW, the
definitions are correct, it is only a repaint error (as CTRL+SHIFT+R shows).
Print, PDFexport seem to merge cell borders 'over' page boundaries, need to
check that, too.
Thus, trying to find a minimal example...

Making clear how the recovery works - wouldn't expect users to disable single
files from the list but having the option supports to understand the procedure.
Also we get two clear interactions: okay, cancel with better labels.

And the issue with crash loops is not a UX topic.

> Looks like a new bug. I think that shouldn't be discussed here.

YES and NO. The matter isn't well-thought-out, in my opinion. It started with a
confusing dialog (I agree). The solution is a new design, changing the recovery
behaviour. I'm not totally convinced about that. Do we really want to select
individual files?

I'm missing a proper argument for such change. What do we want to achieve? What
does the user want?

Normally I would expect full recovery of all my open documents (if everything
works as expect). I only want to select individual documents under exceptional
cases:
* Not interested in all the files.
* A crashing file is included in the recovery dialog

Most problematic is a failing recovery, which makes LibreOffice crash again.
This needs a more robust implementation (in my opinion).

A main cause of a crash loop is - in my experience; (I'm I wrong here?) - the
immediate file opening of all the recovered files after recovery. That why a
proposed a change into the recovery proces itself. Between recovery and file
opening. There needs to be a way to recover most of the files safely & identify
the crash culprit without going into the recovery process over and over. The
possibility to open recovered files incrementally and marking the crashy
culprit as bad (or something like that). That's why I ask to have the to 'save'
the recovery files before opening. It's the way how I would handle it manually.

The request here is not limited to ctrl+S as alt+f4 also doesn't work when you
are in a modal situation. That can be dialog (which closes on alt+f4) but also
in case of floating widgets like add table or set colors at the standard
toolbar and also when a dropdown is expanded (and in those cases nothing
happens). You have to press escape or click somewhere to get back into the
normal flow. That's a WFM as it also happens in other programs (just open the
main menu in any app and press alt+f4). And what's to do is perfectly clear for
users.

However I can crash the program with alt+f4 when the focus is at the sidebar in
the font name dropdown (not when it is open). Happens not in master, so this
issue has been fixed.

Moving an object from one layer to another should work intuitively by moving a

This topic is dealing with two different aspects. The first is to modify the
style 'emphasis' in order to make the selection semibold. That works out of the
box, just modify the style. => WORKSFORME
The other aspect here is that non-discrete properties are not well implemented.
We have bug 66792 and bug 35538, for example, dealing with listing issues when
a font has various styles (=> DUP). And it becomes worse when variable fonts
[1] get into the mainstream providing a dynamic scale from regular and bold
(and potentially all other typeface properties). I think as long this is not
required we shouldn't change the known behavior of on/off bold and italic. That
also means we don't make it customizable what weight option of the font is used
for bold. Therefore => WONTFIX.

To keep topics together I make this a dup of the older ticket. Situation has
improved slightly with a search function but is far from being good. It's not
forgotten however.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90068] FORMATTING Proposal to make italic, bold and other font variants as built-in styles, in addition to emphasis and strong emphasis, which are not obvious to inexperienced

Going over the old tickets but this one is really hard to understand. The topic
reads as a request to introduce a character style 'bold' (I agree with the
comments that rejected this idea), then we have a discussion what the style
'emphasis' should be, and the last comment 9 totally confuses me with a lot of
different arguments.

Could you please make it more clear what you expect?
