** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

Screenshot of export to PDF of memo with "Create PDF form"

I have attached a JPG file combining a screenshot of the original form as I was
exporting it to PDF with "Create PDF form" checked, and a screenshot of the
resultant PDF file.

This does not show the symptoms described in the original bug report but is
similar to the screenshot in Attachment 143551 submitted by Jacques Guilleron.
It is interesting in that it only shows 5 lines whereas Jacques's screenshot
shows almost 7 lines.

Screenshot of export to PDF of memo without "Create PDF form"

I have attached a JPG file combining a screenshot of the original form as I was
exporting it to PDF with "Create PDF form" NOT checked, and a screenshot of the
resultant PDF file.

This clearly shows the symptoms I described.

Operating system Windows 10 (64-bit) version 1803 (OS Build 17134.165).

Comment 13 is still valid with respect to the 1.2" problems: the header and
footer paragraph styles are still altered when the doc is opened after being
saved with the correct settings/appearance. And it still draws lots of the
blue-ish footer 'tabs' when paging up and down.

So this issue still exists and is unchanged.

Screenshot comparing JPEG exports from 3.3.0 vs. 6.2

Maybe it is not cropping, but something changed in the JPEG compression?
Earlier the bottom line was clear, but now it looks pale, like only
antialiasing.

I did take another look at 3.6.7 and it is not full black in it either. 3.3.0
looks sharpest.

Buovjaga, I tried export only selection from your file into JPG and into PNG in
LibreOffice 6.1.0.1 on Windows 10. I got the same result for these both.
Bottom line of bottom shape don't crop. There is line. Just border of image
very close from this line.

Increase scale of image and look at bottom part of image (You can use GIMP).

My opinion -> WFM

In Writer with Groupedbar or Groupedbar compact enabled (View - User interface
- Groupedbar):
Press the File button in the first group -> a pop-up menu with the "Close
preview" item appears - the item should be called "Open preview" or "Print
preview"

Click the "Close preview" item -> groups in the bar changes, one of the new
groups is "Slide Layout" - the name should be "Page Layout" as slides related
to documents of Impress, not Writer

The difference between first open and subsequent is also there using Ubuntu
18.04 (64bit) with LibO 5.4.7.2, and confirmed it is also there in LibO
6.2Alpha.

Also, with 5.4.7.2 the difference is less than with 6.2Alpha.

On my machine first open time:
5.4.7.2  -> 6 seconds
6.2Alpha -> 9 seconds

Subsequent opens are less than 1 second for both.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118398] Memory usage keeps increasing when playing around with Chart wall background

Repro.

The increase cannot really be seen while messing around with the wall of a
single chart. Yet, closing even a single chart does not free the memory to the
initial state (for me the diff is about 18 MB).

The inability to free the memory goes way back, at least to 4.3. I also tried
with 3.3.0 and even there it left 3 MB of extra mem lingering after closing to
start center.

scratch all that about the F0xx mappings, I was looking "Symbol" font with its
PUA mappings rather than the OpenSymbol which does map onto the U+00AE, U+00A9
and U+2122 for its corresponding PUA E024, E021, E143.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118732] Calc crashed and hung when restarted

2018-07-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118732

It happened again with a new dataset. I was simply going to save it as
untitled.ods but it crashed. It hung again when attempting a restart. This time
it failed to recover the data.

A second dataset was created from the original data via cut and paste from a
text editor. This time it was saved successfully as untitled 1.ods.

Attached are screenshots following the crash when attempting to restart and the
dataset.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118762] New: Long formula objects cause slowness (Windows-only)

2018-07-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118762

Bug ID: 118762
Summary: Long formula objects cause slowness (Windows-only)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.2.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: bibisected, bisected, perf, regression
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: todven...@suomi24.fi

Observed already in 5.4.2.2 on Win 10. No problem on Linux.

1. Open attachment 82055 on Windows
2. Scroll to second page and further (back and forth etc.)

Slowness is also observed when entering and exiting formula edit mode.

Funny note: had to start bibisecting at a point earlier (1000 commits) than the
latest commit in Win 5.4 repo - for some reason the problem was not seen in the
latest one.

Result:
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=a51b7a1c3a7e7cf7b0c733e1dec40288278c1884
tdf#103831, tdf#100986: Force using GDI when needed
Our DirectWrite renderer is incomplete and can’t handle rotated text or text
with horizontal scaling, so route these two through GDI for now.

The commit is, of course, famously blamed for many other regressions (all fixed
or wfm now).

Hmm, not so sure about getting in front of this.

We can't simply add to the Auto-correct pairs because no font present in LO
will support the glyph! UI for Auto-correct gets a broken "unknown glyph" in
the process.

Implementing for the Unidoce 1F12F - COPYLEFT codepoint from the Unicode 11.0
"Enclosed Alphanumeric Supplement" SMP would also require that the we provide
the glyph.

IMHO this requires an early addition to our Symbol font where we should
supplement PUA mapping of ®, ©, and ™

We have PUA FOD2/F0E2 Registered and PUA F0E2/F0E3 Copyright and PUA F0D4/F0E4
Trademark, and their mapping to U+00AE, U+00A9, U+2122 which probably could be
cleaned up--not sure how the Serif/Sanserif selection out of the PUA gets done
when selecting the glyph to use.

Then include the new Unicode 11.0 1F12F codepoint for the Copyleft in both
Serif/Sanserif to match the other glyphs.

I tried wrapping through Default style, but it behaves just like direct
formatting. I decrease column width and the text is cropped in the vertical
axis. So I'm not sure how this is about styles vs. direct formatting education.

This is rather about user expectations concerning the automatic applying of
direct formatting: why is the automated height increase tied to inputting
content, but not to changing of column width?

>

Testing sample document with current master/6.2.0, the documents sheet presents
a "default" Cell Style without "Wrap text automatically" enabled.

Meaning the example cell *is* under Direct Formatting to wrap its text.

Modify the default style to include the wrap text automatically, and apply it
(the Update Style on the content panel). Alignment/wrap within the cells is
picked up from the style as opposed to the direct formatting.

And, with the change to Cell Style, all other cells being entered will wrap
within their Column width as set, shifting height--the desired behavior.

Beyond the row height response when the Sytle to wrap text is enabled, IIUC
controlling column width and row height is not done by any cell style and so
any change to set "Optimal Height / Optimal Width" are Direct Formatting of the
selected cells or columns/rows.

So again, I don't see an issue here (other than our on going challenge of
educating users (and QA members) about styles vs direct formatting)--but I
could be wrong.

I've no concern with taking this back through UX-Advise, but the behavior seems
correct IMHO.

I did not spend 1 hour, only edited all the formulas on the first page. No

The long formulas on the second page cause a lot of slowness even straight

I don't get how they could be detached as automatic increasing of height is the
main point of wrapping. Or do you propose to remove the height increasing
functionality entirely, so the text would wrap horizontally when typing, but go
out of sight vertically while displaying the red triangle?

This was not discussed in a design team meeting, so I don't understand the
dance with the keyword and CC. If this is decided to be notabug and the
behaviour even further changed, it is such a significant change that it has to
be dealt with in a meeting. There is a large body of users that considers this
to be a bug since years (in AskLibO, BZ...).

If this is decided to be notabug, then all the other reports need to be
analysed and closed if needed (at a minimum bug 57519).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 82396] Sidebar: Incorrect behavior regarding real-time update of spinbox values

2018-07-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82396

(In reply to QA Administrators from comment #16)

The bug is present with 6.0.5.2.

If user makes a 1 cm grouped drawing, an later wishes to resize it to 0.5 cm
using the spinbox entering controls, the group drawing is *destroyed*
(completely messed up). When the user enters 0.5, they press first 0, which
sets all its dimensions to zero, losing their values and ratios, a situation
that the drawing will not recover from when the user finishes entering 0.5.

Possible solutions (to be implemented)
* while the spindle keeps the focus, only update after a certain delay (e.g. 1
s) to let the user finish its entry.
* make immediate update (and/or the delay mentioned above) a configurable
option in the preferences.
