Huh, Google Drive can preview it but Google Sheets says it's corrupted. Meaning
that the corruption is probably within one of the graph elements or something.
I'm starting to think it was silly to file this bug, as dealing with file
corruption is probably a wild goose chase. Just say the word and I'll close.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119922] New: calc crashes on opening this specific file

2018-09-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119922

Bug ID: 119922
Summary: calc crashes on opening this specific file
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.1.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: imyxhu...@gmail.com

Description:
Hi, I'm not sure what it was, but somehow I've created a calc file that
deterministically crashes LibreOffice calc on open.

Steps to Reproduce:
Don't really know how to describe the STR for this problem, but I managed to
reproduce it after I made a "power" fit on a certain graph (which I've done
successfully before). Then, the graph started glitching out and eventually the
program crashed.
Reproducible with OpenCL on and off.

Actual Results:
LibreOffice now completely refuses to open it. Stack trace attached.

Expected Results:
Not ... crashed.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
I'll attach the .ods file below. I know it's likely that this is simply a case
of corruption in the file itself, but given that it was created and handled by
LibreOffice the whole time I figured I might as well post it and see what
everyone thinks. I'm happy to close this if it's deemed a lost cause.

Office. No problem writing Notepad file. This problem was also reported to MS
in Windows 7, but not especially in Libre Office and i don't know how or if it
was fixed.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119919] New: Non-hidden children of hidden styles appear in top level of sidebar

2018-09-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119919

Bug ID: 119919
Summary: Non-hidden children of hidden styles appear in top
level of sidebar
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.1.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: khanson...@gmail.com

Description:
Upon installing Writer in LO 6.1, I found a huge list of previously hidden
paragraph styles styles appearing in the top level of the Hierarchical View in
the sidebar. Upon further inspection, it looks like styles that I directly
marked as hidden are still hidden, but their children have become un-hiddden,
dumped at the top level since there is no where else for them to go.

The same appears to be true for Character Styles. Calc appears to do the same
thing with Cell Styles, except that the child styles appear under "Default",
since Calc does not allow styles that are not descendants of Default.

The previous behavior (v6.0 and earlier), where children of a hidden style are
also hidden in the Hierarchical View, should be restored.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make at least 2 levels of nested styles past the default.
2. Hide the parent style.

Actual Results:
Child style appears at the top level.

Expected Results:
Child style is hidden with the parent.

Reproducible: Always

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119917] New: Improve consistency in editing text/paragraph/etc. properties

2018-09-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119917

Bug ID: 119917
Summary: Improve consistency in editing text/paragraph/etc.
properties
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.1.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: j22...@gmail.com

Description:
There are some inconsistencies in the behavior of the GUI for different
properties. Sometimes the change is change is applied "live" while some other
times the change is only applied when pressing enter or change focus. There
seems to be no criteria as to when one or the other behavior should take place
(to me anyway).
I make the case for Writer and Calc but I assume all LO apps have the same GUI
issue.

Steps to Reproduce:
Writer
w1. Open Writer and enter any text into a paragraph
w2. Try to change the font and the font size
w3. Try to change the "below paragraph spacing"

Calc
c1. Open Calc and enter any number with decimals, eg 0.0234
c2. Try to change the decimal places
c3. Try to change font

Actual Results:
Writer
There are three ways to change font (in my setup anyway), first of course
select the text you want to change.. then:
A) (most usual, I guess): click to display the drop-down menu
B) click on the font box and scroll with the mouse wheel
C) click on the font box and just write the font name (after "select all" or
erasing the currently-displayed font name).

You can notice that the selected text does or does not change as you perform
the actions:
A) only when you select the new font, the selected text changes to the new font
(kind of obvious, right?)
B) Say you scroll until your favorite font appears in the font box. The
selected text will reflect the new font ONLY after pressing ENTER or TAB.
However you can place the mouse cursor over the font box and scroll (and the
font WILL change) but this will have no effect because the font box is not in
focus. Same happens with font size.
C) Similarly, after you write the name of your favorite font and press ENTER OR
TAB you will see the change (assuming you spelled the name correctly!)

Calc
c2. Changing decimal places is always "live": anything you do in the "decimal
places" box will show immediately without any "apply" signal or any other user
intervention.
c3. Changing the font is actually different than in Writer: you hover over the
font box and scroll with the wheel.. and the text in the selected cell will
change simultaneously! No need to even click on the font box.. However this is
not true for the text size (ie you do need to send the "apply" signal by
getting it out of focus, ENTER, TAB, etc.)

Expected Results:
Well I expect the GUI to be consistent between controls AND between
applications..

For example, if you can not change the selected text, then what is the point of
letting the user to change the font (ie when hovering over the font box without
actually clicking on it). If it can scroll, it should change the selected text
"live".

In principle I thing a decision has to be made about "live" vs "enter/tab/out
of focus". I personally like the 2nd, but I have no reason to believe one is
better than the other, just a matter of taste/being used to.

Reproducible: Always

Summary: Make it easier to work with different fonts
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.1.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: j22...@gmail.com

Description:
It would be great if Writer (I guess can be applied to all LO apps) remembered
the commonly used fonts in the document so the user doesn't have to manually
search for them every time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a document and write several things with different fonts.
2. Now let's say you want to change the font of a given text so you click into
the drop-down menu which displays all installed fonts

Actual Results:
Fonts are (almost) alphabetically sorted (ascending). Thus in order to get the
font you want you have to either a) scroll down until you find it, or b) write
the name if you remember it exactly.

Expected Results:
It would make sense if Writer offered two kind of fonts at the beginning of the
list, a) fonts already used in the current document and b) fonts used in the
current session. If this was the case, just by clicking into the font drop-down
menu I can see the last fonts (or fonts present in the current document), thus
making the editing so much faster.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
For example I work a lot with Liberation sans. The problem is, there are many
Liberation fonts (Liberation mono, Liberation Serif, etc.) Thus every time I
want to change the font to Liberation Sans I have to actually Write "Liberation
sa" in the font name box to benefit from the Autocomplete option... This is
time consuming and cumbersome. Some may say "this is what Styles are for", but
it is not always justified that you need to create a style just for the font..

Sample DOCX (frame+table)

In this sample there's a frame + table in the document from the start. This
similarly overlaps in Writer. Interestingly this starts to overlap in different
versions compared to the table + table.

Overlaps in 5.4.0.3.
Doesn't overlap in 5.3.0.3.

In Word frames don't have the options to allow or not allow overlap.
Nevertheless, I'd guess there are things in common between the two cases.

I noted that this feature could be implemented in ODF, see bug 117132. Until
then, perhaps the current behavior of letting tables/frames overlap should be
disabled, at least when it comes to Office cimpatibility. To me letting these
overlap seems to be the less frequently used option, normally you want to be
able to see what is in your document.

Status: UNCONFIRMED

Created attachment 144922
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=144922=edit
Sample DOC

This is the same as bug 117134, but the document is in DOC format this time.

The attached DOC contains two tables, right below one another. The first one is
a floating table (text wrapping set to: Around), there's an empty line between
the tables, but it slides up next to the first table because of that.
See attachment 141509 for how it looks in Word.

In Writer the two tables (the first is imported inside a frame) mostly overlap.
Similarly to bug 117134, just slightly differently.
This is a case where having a setting mentioned in bug 117132 could be useful.

Observed using LO 6.1.1.2 & 4.4.0.3 / Windows 7.
Tables don't overlap in 4.0.0.3.

This is likely not a clear-cut regression, nevertheless, finding the commit
where it started would be nice.

Hi,

When you use subtotal to show the sum using autofilter and save it as .XLSX
then when opening the file again the sum is not according to the filter. It
works ok with .ODS.

I have attached the same file saved as XLSX and ODS to show the issue.

calc menubar sheet / tools / edit update

The main idea was that the Sheet menubar in calc look complete different from
the table menubar in writer.

So this is an proposal to make calc sheet menubar entry more similar to writer
table entry

calc menubar sheet
--

first group in calc sheet menubar look similar to table menubar in writer
 - benefit similar layout and additional options for select and size
 - as in 6.1 there are subgroups no additional click is needed.
 - merge and split cells are added as it is in writer

Insert Shet
 - section is the same

Cell Comments
 - are moved to edit menu as it is in writer

Navigate submenu wasn't needed cause there are only two entries

Share Spreadsheet moved from tools to sheet cause it's about sheet

calc menubar tools
--

- cell protection was added to the protect subgroup.
- Share spreadsheet was moved to sheet.

calc menubar edit
-

- cell comments moved from sheets to edit so it's the same place for comments
than in writer
- cell edit mode was moved to bottom to edit mode.
- cell proctection moved to the global protection subgroup in tools

Guess that remains your position as in comment 15--but as noted we provide
ability to customize the context menu to add the controls--none the less the
place to correctly fix this is exposing a properties dialog common to all
objects.

None! forget doing the context menu piecemeal. Resolve the properties dialog
and add that to the context menu in a consistent fashion.

Confirmed using LO 6.1.1.2 / Windows 7.
To be precise, in Word the DOCX and DOC look different, and in Writer they look
the same (and as the DOC in Word). The difference is that the paragraph that
takes 4 lines in one case takes 5 lines in the other.

When comparing the DOCX and DOC in Word, the difference comes from different
character layout/spacing. In fact, it only occurs if the text is justified, not
with other kinds of alignments.

Yes, it is about hiding vertical white space.

I just installed version 6.1.1.2 on the 332-bit computer too, typed into a new
document until it had two pages, and hovered the mouse over the gap between the
pages. As with the case reported, there was no possibility to click and hide
the white space. I then went to the "View" menu and found the option "Hide
Whitespace" greyed out.

Looking at Kohei's commit (comment 4) I don't see this as a bug. The behavior
makes sense--you can not move the last sheet from an ODF Spreadsheet document
in Calc and have it remain a valid spreadsheet/workbook.

With ref commit, documents containing multiple sheets do allow moving sheet to
other document.

I'm very surprised, that LO offers the posibility to add the outline to
clipboard. I agree, that you hardly can find his function. So I agree with
Peter. I like the idea
a) to make it more visible in the menu
b) to add it to the headings context menu in the navigator

I'm not sure, but I assume, that your bug is about hiding whitespace. So if you
have the horizontal bar, and you click, you hide whitespace (Menu: View =>
"Hide Whitespace" is enabled).

But everything works as expected in

There is Bug 108012 for the font name box. Looking at the commit there, it
should be just one-line change to apply the same fix for the font size box.
(However, the implementation there isn't perfect. In particular, it selects all
the text on each click, even if the control already had the focus. As a result,
it makes it nearly impossible to select part of the text with the mouse.)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119738] Image caption, inconsistency: caption for images is now "figure" and no longer "illustration"

2018-09-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119738

I think that setting the default - at least temporarily, until a complete
solution is found - will help us to get rid of most of the problems:
Legacy documents can then be edited without problems. I think that nearly
everyone simply calls the dialog, adds the caption and then presses Enter,
without looking at the listbox for the category, as the proposed choice was
always correct in the past.
On the other hand, I think there will be very few new documents already created
in 6.1 or 6.2, in relation to the many legacy documents, so there will be only
a small number of people who will have a problem.
In addition, this would solve the problem for languages like German and Dutch,
where there is the problem of the same translation for the two categories.
We also should not forget that the introduction of the new category is not a
functional enhancement but only an - in my eyes ill-conceived - attempt to
remedy a bad choice for an expression in the english version.

By the way, I said in comment 7 that you would have to delete the caption and
set a new one. That was badly expressed: you have to copy the image, set the
caption and delete the old frame, which will also delete image and caption.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119909] New: LO Writer 6.1.1.2 no longer allows to hide page break in normal view

2018-09-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119909

Bug ID: 119909
Summary: LO Writer 6.1.1.2 no longer allows to hide page break
in normal view
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.1.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: enri...@perezterron.net

Description:
Since I installed v. 6.1.1, in Writer, I hover the mouse over the gap between
pages in normal view, but no clickable handle to contract the page break
appears. 64-bit version. This happened after opening a document previously
saved with 5.4.6.2 32-bit version (saved to Dropbox using a different computer
with 32-bit Windows).

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a document in Writer, save as odt. (Maybe it must be saved using an
earlier version of Writer, in my case 5.4.6.2 32-bit
2. Open using Writer 6.1.1.2 64-bit under Windows 10
3. Hover the mouse in the gap between to pages.

Actual Results:
The mouse takes the shape of an arrow

Expected Results:
The mouse pointer should take the shape of two horizontal bars, indicating that
if you click, the footer and header area will be hidden and only a dashed line
will indicate the page break.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Even more simplification than 3rd, I like this!

Agree with this.

Is everyone ok to remove the AutoValue (from second step) +
autoincrement-statement fields?
Or rather is someone against it and why? Perhaps I'm a bit too quick and it'd
need some UX debate?

Seems like I *made* a mistake, not sure where though :( Since the source commit

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119549] Enhancement: New Help in HTML with color of the icon App

LibreOffice Calc.
Si lo ven solamente desde el punto de vista programador, nunca podràn ayudar
realmente al usuario. Y eso, lamentablemente, pasa demasiado en LibreOffice y
por eso muchas veces no resuelven problemas al usuario.

[EN]
Sorry, I'm a user of LibreOffice and as a user, the current help is confusing.
When I search for something, I do not know what program it refers to, so
differentiating it with "the color of the application" would help to know where
I am standing. And if there is cross or general help for all the apps, then I
could use the gray (according to the icon). I do not associate green with
LibreOffice (its icon is gray), I associate green with Calc (its icon is
green). What's more, when I see something green and white minimalist
automatically LibreOffice Calc comes to mind.
If they see it only from the programmer's point of view, they can never really
help the user. And that, unfortunately, happens too much in LibreOffice and for
that reason many times they do not solve problems to the user.

I seem now to have a stable solution on ubuntu.

Turning off the 'Allow use of Software Interpreter (even when OpenCL is not
available), closing Calc, and re-opening it, brings back the correct data.

I tried this in 6.1.1.2, 6.1.2, with multi-threading on, and I think it's OK
for all variants of this ods file.

Does that make any sense?

I confirm your diagnostic for 6.1.1 from PPA and my own builds of 6.1.2.0.0+
For the master I do not have this option.

That didn't work. The version now shows

Version: 6.1.1.2
Build ID: 1:6.1.1~rc2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1~lo3
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;

is that correct?

I'm about to install 6.1.2 nightly and try that.

I think this is at least a major problem, for some at least, if not critical.
Bad spreadsheet calculations are not good news at all. Some are used for
important stuff.

Confirmed on Windows, with Software interpreter enabled, and OpenCL disabled
(that is how "group" is turned on); with or without threaded calculations:

Version: 6.1.1.2 (x64)
Build ID: 5d19a1bfa650b796764388cd8b33a5af1f5baa1b
CPU threads: 12; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default;
Locale: ru-RU (ru_RU); Calc: group

Starting master with the same profile (in the hope that it will enable the
setting even in the absence of UI) and enabling threading also reproduces the
problem:

Version: 6.1.1.2 (x64)
Build ID: 5d19a1bfa650b796764388cd8b33a5af1f5baa1b
CPU threads: 12; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default;
Locale: ru-RU (ru_RU); Calc: group threaded

Sorry for this wrong statement. In master, this isn't reproducible; I confused
myself with different versions started repeatedly from the same profile.

Today, I tried out your suggestion. I saved the file, made a change in one
cell (so I could see if it actually reloads to file) and then attempted to
reload the file. Apparently it doesn't reload if the file is already there.
I really do not have time to test over and over using different techniques to
replicate this problem and I do NOT wish to have this occur again. When I lose
the comments, it really messes up what I am doing. I keep notes on the progress
of the clocks throughout the day and night so I can see what they are doing
each hour. This keeps the display much simpler when it only showing the results
twice a day. The in between times are in those comments.
When I lose those comments, I have much less information to refer to if a
problem occurs.
Quite frankly, I have no idea how this stuff works. I just use the spreadsheet
as it is and expect it to work properly. When it doesn't, I do try to gather
the circumstance and report it so you folks can attempt to work it out so it
won't do that.
