https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127157 --- Comment #2 from Jean-Francois Nifenecker --- Hi Stuart, I can certainly live without the UI tooltips. But such was not my primary question. The main concern is about adding comments. The XML commenting string exists but doesn't fit the whole bill as its granularity is too coarse: the XML commenting scheme is, IMO, meant to add information at the *file* level (in the attachment, there's such a comment showing how the file was generated). Commenting each color individually should be a property for that color which would make things easier to manage at the color data level. As for the global comment, here also, having a global comment property would be clearer that this information is data. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103694 --- Comment #13 from espinosa_cz --- > Simple solution: close -> rename -> reopen. And remember the current position. That was my implementation assumption too. If you deem it too complicated, I would have perhaps a simpler idea: "deferred renaming". The actual, physical renaming would be done after user closes the document. At least on platforms not supporting opened file renaming, like Windows. LO just need to display modified "Save changes to document" dialog informing that rename is going to happen and user can still have option to cancel and not go through. Also on the UI level the name should be displayed in a different font color indicating that the physical rename hasn't happened yet. I know, it's not ideal, but for most user, like me, it would still make my work much easier. I have lost of documents and I like consistent naming which is difficult to achieve, because you have to first, open the file and to see the content, to decide on the name, but you cannot, because it is open. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

That's good, but there's a missing option: Whole-word search. Many editing applications have this - and LO Writer has it, even, but LO calc doesn't. This feature is important when searching for cell references, e.g. H1 : You don't want to get the results for H10, H11, H12 and so on. Now, it's true that you can achieve the same with a regex search, but then you'd have to remember the syntax for word-boundary (which is different in different regex implementations, e.g. vim vs bash). [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127123] Feature Request: Introduce Recently Used Fonts in Font Name drop-down list
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127123 Maxim Monastirsky changed: What|Removed |Added CC||momonas...@gmail.com --- Comment #7 from Maxim Monastirsky --- As Stuart pointed out, we already have this feature of listing the last 5 chosen fonts. The list is stored in the user profile in the user/config/fontnameboxmruentries file, and we even have an expert config option to enable/disable this feature (org.openoffice.Office.Common.Font.View.History). So I'm not sure why it doesn't work for Pedro, maybe there's some bug involved here. I would suggest at first to check the expert config, or even reset the user profile completely, and see if that helps. One problem that I did notice while testing this, is what happens when there are several font name controls visible at the same time. This might be because of several open documents, but as well might be in a single document, if both the formatting toolbar and the sidebar are visible. It appears that each font name control manages the MRU list on its own, and they're not synced. Moreover, each control updates the fontnameboxmruentries file on its own when destroyed, so the final contents of the fontnameboxmruentries file determined by the control destroyed last, which might or might not be the one where the user selected his fonts last. In my testing I was selecting fonts in the toolbar control, and they appeared in the MRU list at first, but not after restarting Writer. The problem turned out to be with the sidebar. Everything went fine after I disabled the sidebar via View > Sidebar. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125634 Miklos Vajna changed: What|Removed |Added Keywords|regression |implementationError --- Comment #6 from Miklos Vajna --- The "Writer textbox" concept supports complex geometry (rounded corners, etc) with complex content (e.g. tables, table of contents, etc). They do not support rotated text. The reason the ODF sample "works" is because it imports the text as a simple text, without a textbox. In this particular case it provides better results, but if the content would be complex, then the new behavior would be better, and the old one would be bad. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127173 Bug ID: 127173 Summary: editing document with freehand redaction tool leaves area of light blue color Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.3.0.0.alpha0+ Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: im...@yahoo.com Description: When you redact a document using the free hand tool if you close the line, it transforms into a shape and the area inside is colored in light blue. When you create the pdf it remains in blue light instead of black (or white depending on you choice). Steps to Reproduce: 1. editing a document in Writer choose Tools -> Redact and it takes you to Draw 2. choose the Freehand icon from the Redaction Toolbar 3. draw a line of the shape you want and stop to draw at the same point you started Actual Results: the line becomes a shape with the area filled in light blue Expected Results: the area inside the shape should be gray as the line while you are editing the document and should become black or white when you create the final pdf. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=120130 --- Comment #9 from prc...@lykamspam.pl --- (In reply to Xisco Faulí from comment #7) Since spring I haven't worked with bilangual (Polish/English) materials. That is way there was no reaction for the last comment #7. Now I have installed 6.3.0.4 (x64) version. Is there any sens to downgrade to 6.2.0.2 or do second parralel instalation of the LO? I have tested the ver. I have on "CMiToS & MKwTK 2018 MBar W0 Organisational metters.odp" It is in English and Polish language document. I will try to upload the file (or part of it). My program settings are Polish as basic and English (UK) for documents. Looking at the second slide, one can test any word underlined as unknon. E.g.: second verse from the bottom of the page/slide 2. - there is word 'teams'. As I can see at the bottom bar section has been set as Polish. Under mouse context menu (right button) I can find following language suggestions for the word: "Word is English (USA)" (that is almost correct - should be English (UK)) and "Section is Friulski" (that is complitly wrong suggestion, maybe as third option would be of any value). First is reasonable, second completly without any connection to the document or program settings. On the bottom bar there is Polish language marked but right-click mouse menu allows to choose ... only Polish or reset to defoult. Why not provide also English there to choose? Why suggestion provided are not chossen from both languages set in options? P.S. In few weeks to month time I should work again on bilangual materials. Maybe will have new experience and something new to report. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127141] EDITIMG: Pasting does not work from Microsoft One Note
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127141 --- Comment #3 from V Stuart Foote --- OP responded via PMs, Mon 2019-08-26 2:55 PM Nice job and follow-through on this bug report using “InsideClipboard” to determine what actually gets captured to the clipboard when doing copies and cuts in Microsoft One Note. I appreciate your spending the time to research this. I’m not sure though, that we can dismiss this as a fault in copying “pure text”. It doesn’t explain why copied text can’t be pasted directly into Libre Writer from the clipboard. The copied text has to be filtered through Microsoft’s Notepad first, then copied and pasted into Libre Writer. MS Notepad strips all formatting off of what comes off the clipboard. Once that has happened, the text can be successfully copied and pasted into Libre products. This would raise the question, why can’t Libre Writer strip the formatting from the clipboard items, enabling direct pastes like Notepad? @Bro Bob, Simple response is that there has to be _some_ default handling for any content placed onto the os clipboard, One Note places a CF_DIB onto the clipboard and that is what gets picked up as default paste format, and is then rendered as bitmap to document canvas. There is no direct linkage between LibreOffice and One Note, just the clipboard content signaling--we don't check what app is populating the os system clipboard, just what is available. And depending on the LibreOffice module in use, we take a default clip format appropriate to the module. And as to Notepad placement onto the Windows clipboard, you actually get multiple clip formats there as well: CF_TEXT, CF_OEMTEXT, CF_UNICODETEXT and CF_LOCALE. So mostly text but the difference between TEXT/OEMTEXT and Unicode Text can be pretty significant for some locales/scripts. LibreOffice does "strip the formatting" -- that is what the Paste Special -> 'Unformatted text' provides; it is just not the default. If we somehow tweaked LibreOffice clipboard handling to recognize MS One Note as source, "stripped of formatting" would not necessarily be the best default for MS One Note which generates rich context materials XHTML, Text, Bitmap and even vector graphics depending on use. Some folks will want the rich content. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127170] New: The German documentation for time formats does not explain formatting differences of durations and wall clock time.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127170 Bug ID: 127170 Summary: The German documentation for time formats does not explain formatting differences of durations and wall clock time. Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.0.4.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: albrecht.muel...@astrail.de Description: I am affected by bug 125099 when I used Libre Office Calc version 6.2.5 on Ubuntu. According to comment #12 this problem should be fixed already. Comment #8 in Bug 125099 by Eike Rathke states that the correct way to avoid the problem is to use a duration format instead of a wall clock time format. I was not aware that there is such kind of distinction as I did not find a corresponding hint in the German documentation of the time format. The spread sheets affected by this bug still display wrong numbers using Version 6.2.6.2 Ubuntu Build Id 1:6.2.6-0ubuntu0.19.04.1, they show correct numbers with Calc version 6.0.4.2 (x64) Build-ID: 9b0d9b32d5dcda91d2f1a96dc04c645c450872bf (Windows). Steps to Reproduce: See help information: https://help.libreoffice.org/6.3/de/text/shared/01/05020301.html?DbPAR=SHARED#hd_id3155870 Actual Results: The explanation states that the format “HH” stands for hours between 0 … 23, and “[HH]” allows hours greater than 23 hours. I did not notice any hint that mentions durations, wall clock time or implications on the rounding behaviour. Expected Results: Expected result: The format description should mention that there are different rounding strategies: A duration of 0:59 should display as 1 hour if rounded to a precision of hours. Interpreted as wall clock time this should round to 0 hours. There should also a reference to a more thorough specification that describes how Calc handles the problem of having no exact representation of most time values which is inherent in its time representation. The documentation should also contain a clear specification of the meaning of a format string which does not change between versions as changing this specification breaks existing ods-Files. I observed some quite strange features of the time formatting mechanism, e.g. the time 23:57:00 gets formatted to “1437” using the format string “[MM]” but to “Minutes: [57] Month: 12” ( Version 6.0.4.2 (x64) on Windows) or to “Minutes: [12] Month: 12” (Version 6.2.6.2 Ubuntu) by the format string “"Minutes: "[MM]" Month: "M”. What is the correct interpretation of the format string parts “[MM]” or “MM”? How does it depend on the context? The lack of a clear specification causes serious problems when upgrading to a new version. An existing speadsheet may show month values where you used to see minutes. The result the you see in an old spreadsheet may be a complete day off despite the fact that the actual calculation differs by a tiny fraction of a millisecond only. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 122724] Autorecovery should run in the background
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122724 --- Comment #6 from Christian Lehmann --- I am not quite sure what the dispute is about. Both the original author of bug 48416 and one of the later contributors refer explicitly and exclusively to pressing CTRL-s and never mention AutoSave. However, whoever entered the specification of the classificatory item 'Blocks' wrote: AutoSave-AutoRecovery-Backup. I am ignorant of its origin, meaning or function. Bug 122724, instead, refers explicitly to the AutoSave operation initiated automatically by LO at a fixed interval. Again, the rubric 'Blocks' says: AutoSave-AutoRecovery-Backup. It seems quite possible to me that technically, the Save operation executed is the same in both cases. However, it is not the duty of the user who files a bug to know such things. Thus, if fixing one of these bugs means fixing the other one, too, then please merge these two bugs into one. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 45589] Show bookmarks: make them visible in a document
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45589 --- Comment #14 from Nicolas Göddel --- My coworkers would really appreciate it if they would be able to show bookmarks without changing the layout like it happens when one enables field names. They often delete bookmarks in a 2000+ pages document without even noticing it. The bookmarks are there for the subject catalog at the end of the document. This especially happens if a bookmark is at the beginning of a paragraph. I think it would be enough to make bookmarks visible like variable setters, non-breaking spaces or somehow similar. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127168] New: "Ranges containing merged cells…" modal dialog underlays Autofilter pull-down
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127168 Bug ID: 127168 Summary: "Ranges containing merged cells…" modal dialog underlays Autofilter pull-down Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.3.0.4 release Hardware: All OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: psychon...@nothingisreal.com Description: When using the Autofilter pull-down menu to sort a column, the sort will fail if the spreadsheet contains vertically merged cells -- this is a separate issue documented in Bug 85807. The problem I am reporting is that LibreOffice reports this failure by popping up a focus-stealing modal error dialog *underneath* the Autofilter pull-down menu. This has two unfortunate consequences: 1) Depending on the placement of the pull-down menu, it can be impossible to read the error message. 2) At least on my windowing system (KDE Plasma), the modal dialog cannot be moved or resized, and steals focus not just within the LibreOffice Calc application but from all other windows. So it is basically impossible to use the computer for anything until the error dialog is dismissed, but it is not obvious how to do this as the dialog's "OK" button is hiding behind the Autofilter pull-down. You either need to blindly click on the unlabelled edges of the "OK" button or else press the Escape key. Steps to Reproduce: Also attached is a sample spreadsheet for triggering the bug. Use the following steps to reproduce: 1. Open the attached spreadsheet. 2. Activate the Autofilter pull-down menu in cell A1. 3. Select "Sort Ascending" or "Sort Descending". Actual Results: 4. The above-described focus-stealing modal error dialog pops up underneath the pull-down menu. Attached is a screenshot showing what the problematic behaviour looks like. Expected Results: 4. The modal error dialog should pop up *over* the pull-down menu, and it should not steal focus from other programs. Shows the screenshots for the reported bug Open the attached document and have a look at the different preview in the dialog for printing with draw since LO 6.3.0.4. (Sorry for the big screenshots - but the dialog isn't sizeable in GTK3 and fills nearly the whole screen ... another bug). I have tried to print a page with user-defined 564 mm width and 400 mm height. The dialog sets Page Layout to A4. Values between print preview (356mm/216mm) and A4 (297mm/210mm)doesn't match. Changed to tab LibreOffice Draw. Changed Size → Distribute on multiple sheets of paper. Preview shows format A4 portrait. The content "Schnellbahnnetz" is shown as format A4 landscape. Switched to the second paper. It will be shown A4 landscape. The content will also been shown as A4 landscape, but it is (in the document) defined as nearly A2, which is about 4*A4! Page 3 shows a part of the "Schnellbahnnetz" in A4-landscape. This part is also shown in page 1 and page 2, but it will be originally printed so. Page 4 will show a part, which is printed in page 3 also. Back to page 1 now. It will show the right values for A4-landscape and the whole content of "Schnellbahnnetz", which is 564 mm width and 400 mm height. It will be printed as 297 mm width and 210 mm height. You will get one page, which prints the whole content (as "Fit to printable page") and 3 pages, which will show diffent parts of the first page in the same size, which is much too small. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127140] Feature Request: Right click menu options for frequent documents in Windows 10 taskbar
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127140 --- Comment #7 from Jan-Marek Glogowski --- (In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #6) > @Mike, Jan-Marek -- are we happy that our implementation of Win7 Jump Lists > remains correct (though maybe obscured by Windows UWP shell changes)? I'm no Windows user. I'm fixing VCL bugs on any platform, if needed, but really can't say much about user experience. If these "jump lists" are the way Windows handles recent documents nowadays and it works with LO, we're fine. So I searched for "Windows UWP" and now I know it's the acronym for "Universal Windows Platform". No idea how that would fit in here, but probably also needs an extra bug report, if we have to make changes to be UWP-compatible (if that even exists). (In reply to Tracey C from comment #0) > Expected Results: > These options would be available whether the program was open or closed. We have to rely on the OS support here. So if we miss an opportunity here, I would like to get it documented, so someone can implement it, eventually. > On all 3 OS's > 1 - The menu shows recent documents If it's possible to add these "jump lists" as a submenu, then I don't have any objections about adding the "jump lists" to the right click menu of the icon or as a File menu entry. > 2 - There is an option to pin documents to a list of pinned documents That is a completely different enhancement request. I don't know if any OS offers support for this in the context of recent document handling (or even outside), but I guess that would need some LO-only implementation, to save a "pinned documents" list. I don't think these could be available as part of the recent file lists. Should be handled in an extra bug report IMHO. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
