[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134425] New: UPDATING STYLES from Template -- aka the document's RELATION (link and unset link) to the template's styles and the template
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134425 Bug ID: 134425 Summary: UPDATING STYLES from Template -- aka the document's RELATION (link and unset link) to the template's styles and the template Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.2.0.3 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: j...@cspv.hu I think I do understand the problem about the template's styles in relation to the document... - - - - you can skip this // Normally you would expect that changing the template's styles will come to effect in the document's styles.. once you reopen it.. but then again... if you have changed the styles within the document, and you change the styles in the template (intentionally or unknowingly, focusing on something else), what should happen? should your intentional changes to the document disappear? or, in the case of an update, what should be kept of it? thanks to the CSS system, however, this all doesn't really matter cause in the end, the point is to have those styles referenced in the document... and the values to each can be altered anytime... BUT then again :) most writers like to see their documents as it will appear as the finished product.. // up to here - - - - So, it looks like there should be a TYPE of the RELATION between the document and the template... which could be set... chosen, opt for.. I could imagine, for example a "direct linking" to a template... and optional.. and a manual TYPE... like: • direct linking (the user couldn't change the styles manually, could define a new one, though, which would right away go into the template; also, every time the popup comes, "wanna upgrade the styles?", she can opt for "do this automatically in the future, only notify me as it's happening") • optional (you can change the document's styles "locally", which is like "inline" in the case of HTML, but get a popup "do you want to update the styles?" whenever the template changes, and then you can opt also for "don't show me this again", which means that the user will take care of it "manually") • manual (like what we have now, basically) --- IN EITHER CASE... in the document's PROPERTIES "window" @ "Template", not only the template but the type of linking could be indicated.. a STYLE EDITOR one further step could be a STYLE EDITOR window... which already exists... but it could exist as an independent STYLE EDITING WINDOW... and one could open the STYLES that belong to a TEMPLATE... like "Styles - Edit Styles" (not "Edit style", which we have already).. Edit Styles or "Edit Style Sheet".. or "Edit Linked Style Sheet"... it could be like Navigator... except that it could NOT ONLY open the style sheet linked to the current document... or documents in other windows... but could also open ANY TEMPLATE's style sheet... - - - thank you for developing Libreoffice and Writer! - - - -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115439] High DPI mode: SVG icons should be preferred over PNG versions when available

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 57202] FORMATTING: Make Header/footer font size independent from scaling of the sheets
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57202 --- Comment #7 from Yuri --- To me it's pretty clear and obvious that it's a bug. I agreed that this bug report was marked as a desired feature instead of a bug report so developers could have more time to dedicate to fixing other (more critical) bugs and take the time to fix this. But 8 years is too long. I'm very impressed by such delay. Here's the most obvious reason why this is a bug: a spreadsheet contains information, but its headers and footers contain METAINFORMATION (i.e. information about the spreadsheet's information). E.g. the page numbers placed in the headers or footers pretty much inform us how many pages (i.e. how much space) the spreadsheet's information takes up. Another clear reason why resizing a spreadsheet shouldn't resize its headers and footers along is because international standardization organizations like ISO specify fixed font types and sizes for headers and footers in different document types (e.g. dissertations and other technical and academic documents). Therefore, by default LibreOffice should NOT resize headers and footers: the actual "desired feature" or "enhancement" is precisely providing the end-user the ability to change such default behavior, in order to cause LibreOffice to resize headers' and footers' font sizes along with their corresponding pages. But for some weird reason LibreOffice by default behaves in such non-standard, undesired way. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 132010] ENHANCEMENT: A selection tool for images in draw for easy cropping of raster images
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132010 --- Comment #7 from Regina Henschel --- Let's have a technical view on the problem: "crop" from a user point of view, can have three technical realizations: A) The main element is a shape. The image is set as fill-image. There exist several attributes to determine zoom and section of the image. B) The main element is an image. It has an associated crop-polygon. C) The main element is an image. It has a clip-rectangle. B) and C) can be combined. A) That is already possible in all modules. It corresponds roughly to the tool "crop to shape" in MS Office. The UI in LibreOffice is the area-dialog, its Bitmap part is terrible. When intersect a shape with an image, the current default is "stretch". I think, that a different default, which keeps the image size, would be better. B) That is currently only available in Writer. It needs a lot of points to get a rounded outline, but a rectangular outline is easy. The object has still its original size, only that parts are hidden. That conflicts with the restricted canvas in Writer when moving the object. C) That is the way "crop" is done in LibreOffice in all modules. The clip-region is always rectangular. Using the handles or entering numeric values, both require many steps. Determine the area by dragging a rectangle would indeed be a useful tool. CSS uses a clip-path, including curves, but that is not yet specified in ODF. It is worth implementing this CSS feature and bringing it to ODF, because it is needed for SVG anyway and would be better than extending B) to Draw /Impress. So I would go with the mentioned improvements for A and C. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107095] FORMATTING: Means to convert direct formatting into styles
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107095 --- Comment #13 from Mike Kaganski --- No objections against any extensions. But I highly doubt practical usefulness of this; all concerns in comment 1 are valid; and everything mentioned e.g. in comment 4 (e.g., styles with transparent paragraph background) might turn out to be useful. Also same formatting would become same style, while in practice, it's often that several different styles have the same formatting, and serve as logical tags. I seriously propose to spend more time instead in a concept of UI that would address the preamble in comment 0: > Because the UI of LibreOffice is enforcing the user to use direct formatting > (aka hard formatting) instead of styles ... I want to continue the phrase: "It would be useful to have a Muffin mode that doesn't suffer from this". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133836] Autofilter enables deselect items automatically when typing a search
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133836 --- Comment #14 from Caolán McNamara --- re comment #11, not one for me. But a brief competitive comparison suggests that making the filter not auto-toggle on/off and instead require an explicit enter/return/activate in the search box to toggle on/off the shown rows (which would mean that enter in that search box no longer closes the dialog) is a plausible alternative implementation sc/source/ui/cctrl/checklistmenu.cxx "EdActivateHdl" is the activate handler for the search box, "EdModifyHdl" is the modify handler. A quick looks suggests that the ShowCheckEntry calls in there are toggling the rows on/off automatically if they match/don't match the filter. There is a complicated date mode too which needs to be tested if someone takes this on. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 130991] Toolbar arrows too large on 200% scaling
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130991 --- Comment #14 from Jan-Marek Glogowski --- So I had a look into this, and it's no easy hack. While the arrow now scales, the assigned drop-down-arrow rectangle doesn't. You can see this in the attached images, where the arrow is painted out-of-bounds and overlaps with other widgets. In fact the reported size to the native painting code is always 11px, the TB_DROPDOWNARROWWIDTH. If you highlight the button with the mouse, you'll see the too small dividing line between the button and the drop-down-arrow. This is also visible in my attached images of bug 134054, but that had in addition a broken implementation of the native button sizing code in the Qt5 VCL backend. Now interestingly there is some IOS code there, which probably needs some additional fixup now: -longnDropDownArrowWidth = TB_DROPDOWNARROWWIDTH; +longnDropDownArrowWidth = TB_DROPDOWNARROWWIDTH * fScaleFactor; #ifdef IOS nDropDownArrowWidth *= 3; #endif And I don't know if any platform code works around this problem in the VCL plugin. IMHO that IOS code should be removed too, but since I don't know anything about IOS, and interested party has to review the (multiple) patches. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
